I want to run a Delta Green adventure where there’s a dossier on an elite paedophile ring. But how much is too much? Can I be too realistic for an TTRPG and depict real methods used by child sex ring tactics? The idea is that the elite paedophile ring belongs to a secret society dabbling in the occult. They might have mutations or daemons to sacrifice for.

I once used Synanon's psychological abuse for a cult disguised as rehab the party was infiltrating. I think it went okay, no one seemed more put off than expected and I played again with everyone that was there, but I realized what I had made myself do five seconds before starting and I wanted to die.
If you go that route you'll have to comit to the bit and pay attention that you don't go too far. I guess you can not care if the players hate you and leave for making the relive trauma, but there's an bug chance they assume you're into this shit and you're trying to force ERP.

Investigative side of things. I don’t like gratuitous violence but paedophiles are extremely secretive and scheme like no other. This is because it’s utterly reprehensible and a sexual motivation; they hide their desires and act like predators. It makes them the ultimate culprit for a mystery game: at once the epitome of evil and too real for comfort.

Watch True Detectives, too. First season. Don't want to say too much, but it's got a lot of what you're looking for in terms of a more subtle campaign. Also covers how modern private detectives work, which is something a lot of people are surprisingly ignorant about.
