TQ: Have you ever given/gotten a MtG christmas gift, anon?
>>96052243I gave my nephew a pack of Bloomburrow because he likes animals and I was giving his brother a couple Pokemon packs and didn't want him to feel left out
>TQ
The year after my house burned down and I lost my entire collection my mother bought me a booster box of onslaught for christmas.
That's about it, and that was over 20 years ago.
>>96052243>TQGave my buddy a Sliver Overlord a few years back
How do you feel about deck spiraling
>>96052243No.
My pod did gift me a "sorry your family member died" present which was a deck they built for me but that wasn't Christmas.
>>96052243My grandfather and his wife got me a shrinkwrapped pile of random cards from who knows where. It was all shit but still appreciated.
>>96052243TQ: As much as I gave that one shitposter trouble for an 'edh party' he claimed to attend; my playgroup did have a holiday party where the host randomly everyone gave everyone a random mythic or other cool card. One year I got a Sylvan Library and last year I got an Urza's Ruinous Blast.
I made cookies last year, I should make them again this year.
>>96052264is that jon blow
>>96052243A few years(?) ago a birthday gift bag of different stuff from my mom had a single dominaria jump start booster in it, she said the cashier said I would like it.
How do I build him? I got a lot of undying, some death-trigger mass-life-drain guys like Zulaport Cutthroat, Corpse Knight, Cruel Celebrant, etc.. I don't know if I should put some one-time token generators like Secure the Wastes, just in case I can't keep my commander out. I don't know if I should lean into mana dorks, to take advantage of looping from undying. My deck is complete, can't post the list but it's got shit like the enchantment from the new tarkir set, the Citadel Siege, loads of other shit. Even bought a Cathar's Crusade just to be extra obnoxious. Any advice?
>>96052289There are exactly two ways to build ghave. Thallid/saproling-producer tribal, or "Oops I Didn't Realize This Went Infinite Together," there is no in-between.
>>96052227 (OP)ive been play testing this all day and decided to just order my cards, im still gonna work on the actual list when i get everything irl but man, im already falling in love with this deck, just the testing has been fun

>>96052581Wow you are definitely NOT the slop anon in question
>>96052641What, are you playing for money? If all you care about is whatever's strongest, why not just proxy a cedh deck?
If you're just playing for fun, run whatever commanders you think are fun.
Orzhov vampires are way more interesting than Mardu goodslop vampires. Rakdos vampires are cool too.
You can build Light-Paws enchantress for $30 and it would still be able to compete at high bracket 3, low bracket 4 tables. But if you want to play something less busted, there are still tons of options. What enchantments do you want to play? Auras? Pillow fort? Auras enchanting your opponents' stuff? Wanna run a partner pair + every background printed in those colours because backgrounds will apply to both of your commanders? Go for it. I enjoy running Tana/Prava with all of the naya backgrounds in the 99 because I think Inspiring Leader is funny when all of my saprolings are coming in with +5/+9.
>>96052641Faggot
>>96052679This except Vona or Elenda
>>96052716I've built him, its very fun. You need some token generators to make a bunch of 1/1s to make the most of him, similar to a Zada deck. Make the most of the cheap common enchantments that let you draw a card on ETB

Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>96052384So i guess you want to run artifacts that like to be sacrificed and eat them for value. Maybe some lifegain payoffs? I don't think artifact sacrifice has enough support in those colors to make it your main strategy
>>96052716This is one of the strongest cards for three dog.
His ability also doesn't target, so it dodges shroud, but does not dodge protection.
>>96052641The only one of these that is actually true is Yuriko. Ninjas are just bad in EDH, Yuriko makes them good but also just goes completely overboard and makes them overpowered instead, which is unfortunate. I really like ninjas.
>>96052243Aunt and Uncle got me the Galadriel precon, two of my cousins got Sam+Frodo and Eowyn. Havenโt played it yet.
How in the fuck are you supposed to get this guy to proc since pretty much everything but land are technically spells, aren't they? Who is just passing on turn 5?
>>96052793the miserable part is that you need to count your deck size for massive self mill, and you need to constantly look at your graveyard to count more shit.
>>96052844You don't . Werewolves were so inccredibly badly designed that most are entirely unused. For them to be usable either the frontside alone has to be good for the cost (Duskwatch Recruiter arguably) or the flip effect is good enough to warrant not playing any spells (Huntmaster in modern for some time iirc). But otherwise you're basically better off playing practically anything else.
>>96052834>Copies aren't cast, nor do they target>this is one of the best cards for himimagine being this bad
>>96052844By playing this guy as your commander
>>96052871get one of these to keep track
>>96052844You have to force it. You might think I mean "oh it's tricky but you'll get there if you run some staxx".
No, you HAVE TO FORCE IT. If you can't flip him on your own the deck won't work at all.
>>96052872>>96052877Well, fair enough. Just happened to be looking at some old cards and werewolves are cool but damn I never ever could see this guy getting value without that commander
>>96052844>just pass every single turn to get a 6/6 fight or spend the entire game with a vanilla 4/4Day night is one of the worst mechanics wizards ever shat out, so of course the tribe whos whole gimmick is flipping between the 2 is complete dogshit. I was listening rachel weeks from the rules committee talking about how they are going to expand the list of strategies not allowed in bracket 2, one being discard. I've been asking this for so long and am happy they are finally considering limiting this gameplay pattern which is just basically mld in another form anyway. she said the gc list is a bit too big to remember while the show host said it's too small so take that as you will.
they also touched the subject of ramp being a menace in low brackets and she said bracket 3 and lower are for casual play and you are not expected to have the removal say against magus of the moon so land denial is not the answer
chaining extra turns COULD become a thing for bracket 3 since combos are allowed
>>96052641>want to play enchantments>only commanders worth using are sythis or the 5c shrine>Eriette of the Charmed Apple>Yenna Redtooth Regent>Wildsear Scouring Maw>Marina Vendrell>Master of Keys>Zur Eternal Schemer
>>96053527I've said it before and I'll say it again
If answering lands is bracket 4 only than heavily lands based decks must necessarily be out of range of bracket 2.
I'm looking for a chink manufacturer for MTG sleeves with custom printing. I'm well fucking aware that Dragon shield does custom sleeves, but if i'm buying 20 boxes of 100, i dont plan to pay 25 bucks per unit..

>>96054030His effects are good, but not big and splashy enough for Timmy dragon players.
That's my guess anyway.
Partner commanders have the color identity of both partners right? Even if one's in the 99?
>>96054055Forgot to mention that this was very much in the "White sucks and everything is Sultai goodstuff era"

>>96054030It's not anywhere near as pushed as Ur Dragon or Miirym. It also isn't a Dragon itself which triggers tribalfags. Even so it's still a relatively popular Dragon commander. >>96054648Explain how putting red in a Selesnya mechanic that has been in those colors for longer than most posters here have been alive and has had one (1) card including red prior to that deck isn't a color break.
>>96054622A color that produces a large number of small creature tokens is an ideal support color for a deck based on convoke. Sometimes, a multicolor combination is a strong choice not because every color involved features a mechanic, but because the strengths of those colors might support the theme in other ways.
>>96054723Again you seem to just have a wildly poor understanding of how multicolored cards work.
>>96054594>she did say the system has glaring flawsthe vision is there, they just have to commit to it; aka have a spine
no more wishy washy "oh mld is this definition", "oh a few tutors only in bracket 2", just say "ok these mld cards are GCs", "only 3 nonland tutors in bracket 2", "ok these cards/commanders are too fast for bracket 2 so we should make them GCs", etc... stop blaming players for abusing rules (you know, what mtg gameplay is based on), no more of this "bad actor" nonsense
mtg rules are complex enough as it is and there are tens of thousands of cards, remembering what cards are in the GC list (assuming you somehow don't have mobile data in 2025) wouldn't be a problem.
>>96054739That's not an answer. Why do you think it's fine for mono red cards to have convoke?

The whole point is that the colors were wrong for the commanders and it should have been Bant instead of Jeskai.
>>96054029>Design is bant>People complain about color pie break>Reason given us "we thought it would be fun to use with the black zombies that come in tapped :)
>>96054751Youโre looking at it backwards. Red offers something that supports Convoke, and so including it in a legendary that intends to support Convoke gives you an additional way to support the mechanic. Archelos has an effect that black doesnโt do anything to support, but that provides marginal benefits for something unrelated that black does.
In the former case, the inclusion of an additional color allows for the core theme to be explored in additional ways by leveraging that colorโs strengths. In the second case, a color is included for no other reason that the effect on the card can obviate some of that colorโs weaknesses. The tertiary color in that case doesnโt do anything to support the theme.

>$10 collector boxes on woot
>Amazon prime day sales still suck ass
If lands are cloaked or manifested and I flicker them or use other effects to flip them I can make multiple land drops right?
>>96054929ah cool then
regarding goldfishes that cause combos to come out earlier than "intended" in the lower brackets wotc should either suck that up (and make cards that they feel make such goldfishes more likely as GCs) or admit that they're so anal about it that they should make rules that players can't go infinite/near infinite/i win combo before turn X
>>96055034Woot had $10 Foundations collector boxes yesterday
>>96052358Wtf does cloaking do?
>>96054517Well for Gimbal, green has more of the not standard artifacts like Food (before WoE) and from creatures like Svella, so including Green makes a degree of sense from a design standpoint. For Sibari theyโre blue for flavor reasons, Zhalfir has been represented through Teferi, who is blue or blue-white whenever he shows up, so it would make sense that his people are of the same color identity he is, and the black is because he reanimates Knights.

I busted out my EDH decks for the first time since 2012. Teneb was my favorite. I stopped playing right after they banned Primeval Titan, so I replaced him with Scapeshift. Here is my deck. I sold most of the fetch lands and duals for $$$, so I am going to try and rebuild it.

Also just so I don't take up more than one post: if you use a card to make two creatures fight, does that trigger effects for when you send them to combat, or is it treated as something different?

>>96055621Anon, cut until you can fit 37 lands at least.

>>96056866>>96056889Ever since the verge lands and surveil lands the entire 3 color base mana system got a little skewed towards running fetchable lands. Especially in anything with black because the tainted lands work similarly to the verge lands and both come in untapped.
The fetchlands can now grab you a surveil that can not only fix your mana but also make the Verge, check, and tainted lands live for the rest of the game. So I would argue that the cycle lands are a cheap alternative to the surveil lands but I would still work on swapping them out for the surveils eventually.
Granted, cycling is still a neat mechanic with some commanders.

>>96059277>keep citing reasons why Prime Time has only gotten better since the ban for why it should be unbanned
>>96059258anyone even implying that primetime is stronger than GC rhystic study needs a grasp on reality
>>96059258The people who want prime time unbanned don't understand it
>>96059277>green is already the best color>let's make it EVEN STRONGER>so they lift a soft-ban an archetype I want to play in lower bracketsactual retard logic
>>96059153gogogo is complete and utter shit though
>teehee we printed ramp in monoblue
>>96059289urza's saga is already a GC, remember you only have 3 GCs. so that's primetime, saga... and chasm? and how is that fundamentally any different from what you can do now in bracket 3 with hour of promise and titania's command?
>>96059311how about you reread how gavin talked about regarding primetime and og emrakul in the recent b&r, compare that to how he talked about griselbrand, then ask yourself why planetary annihilation just so happens to deal 6 damage, then come back to me?
you guys can't take a hint of what's coming it's hilarious
>>96059234>how is this card that does twice as much as this other card every turn cycle any different, your opponents always exile it forever immediately 100% of the time >and i'm not going to factor in an opponent going down a removal spell as upside because I'm just not>>96059295Rhystic being banned would improve the format.
The argument for banning Prime Time(and Sylvan Prim at the time) and not rhystic though is that people know they're being obnoxious tryhard kikes if they play rhystic, but will innocently throw prime time into every green deck. That's changed a little bit though, you see rhystic way more these days than you ever did a decade ago.
>>96059333>oh wow the green deck sure is ramping hard!>anyways, i comboed out with vivi/teshar/insert combo commander here, GGs i guesslol
>Rhystic being banned would improve the format.but it's not, and as long as it's a GC no one has any standing as to why primetime is still banned while rhystic is free, simple as
>>96059260Based. Considering running Tasha but stealing makes people see red.
>>96059353>oh wow primetime just dropped the Marit Lage combo on turn 4>oh hey, Cabal Coffers and Urborg, who could've seen that coming>Glacial Chasm and Field of the Dead huh? Guess we're just gonna be here for the next three hours>what fun we are having
unban primetime and sundering titan
>>96059301Or they understand it just fine and are trying to gaslight people into thinking it's not a big deal
>>96059376>as if marit lage, coffers+urborg, chasm, and field can stop a combokek i see too many people love their greed piles of do nothing winmore enchantments, and yep, primetime will beat that alright
maybe don't bring your pile to bracket 3 is the point lol
>>96059023I love slivers.
>>96059064>>96059089I knew it was absolutely broken in EDH right away. I wish they would either retcon the card to be one land instead of two. Maybe then it wouldn't be so broken. Just print a new version of it like that.

>>96059393>sundering titanFirst time seeing this dude. This spell would be funny as hell if you're running zero basics
How do I go from win more to actually building cohesive decks?
I feel like I just run good stuff instead of synergistic things.
>>96059413I build so many blink decks and this never makes the cut
>>96059411i never said primetime wasn't strong
what i'm saying that as long as consecrated sphinx and rhystic are GCs there's no logical reason for primetime to be banned and if you can read the lines in the latest b&r even gavin is easing you into accepting that reality lol
>>96059426shit in the sense of "THIS IS BULLSHIT" not that he's bad
>>96059424tbf it's really only good at like.. fucking turn 10+ unless you decide to generate infinite mana to pull off shenanigans
>>96059429>consecrated sphinxOh shit. I have this card. I didn't know he was a GC. Same with Rhysitic study! I did have them in my bant control deck.
>>96059429Could see it considering they just reprinted him.
>>96059441>Oh shit. I have this card. I didn't know he was a GC. Same with Rhysitic study!hehe, picrel
>>96059445the signs are there :)
tbqh I think this one is coming off the list, not prime time.
>>96059440I prefer blinking non-creatures anyway.
>>96059458gavin talked about primetime, primordial, and og emrakul in the same tone, read the lines people
>>96059467he also talked about sylvan primordial in the same way speedreader.
>>96059485I almost bought sylvan primordial the other day and wondered why no one played it
>>96059485Gavin also said the #1 most likely unban is Jew Lotus because he's a fucking moron living in a universe there are no good commanders above 3 mana.
>>96058976>jaheiraYou're going infinite that easily with her? That's surprising. Didn't think she'd enable that so easily.
>2025
>still no Bant Populate commander
as a thought experiment, how much mana would a "Search your library for up to two land cards and put them onto the battlefield" effect cost, in your mind?
>>96059507>Gavin also said the #1 most likely unban is Jew Lotusofc jew lotus is the most likely unban (as GC)
gotta make future 6 mana do nothing commanders sellable in bracket 3 you know haha
if academy is banned, cradle should be as well. either free academy or ban cradle.
>I will be transparent and say that I believe if any of these are ever to return, the most likely one is Jeweled Lotus due to its one-shot nature, iconic feel, and ability to help support high-mana value commanders.
>>96058989Gitrog seems more fun. Encourages charging in and saddling up for big next turns which sounds more enjoyable to pilot to to me. Whenever I'd get Gitrog on board in my other decks he'd usually make some impact.
>>96059519>6 mana do nothingMore like 6 mana can't be countered ward - discard your hand at the beginning of each upkeep draw 7 cards.
>>96059523it's a lot easier for Academy to go apeshit than Cradle, and Gaea is a lot more vulnerable to an incredibly common type of removal
>>96057561The extra wincon my Flubs MLD deck was looking for. Might switch back to Windgrace since we got Iridescent Vinelasher there too.
Poor frost titan never stood a chance with consecrated printed alongside him. Wurmcoil engine all but forgotten
>>96059523But anon, it's much easier to get artifacts in blue than it is creatures in green!
Green has never been known for going wide
>>96059530>iconic feelhe really is just a little jew rat fuck
>>96059530They'll just print a new chase-mythic.
For the thousandth time I will suggest printing JewLo with a limitation that it can only be used to cast commanders with mana value 5 or more
>>96059541all the more reason to make jew lotus GC!
>>96059530
>>96059530>I will be transparent and say that I believe if any of these are ever to return, the most likely one is Jeweled Lotus due to its ability to be monetized
>>96059494I don't imagine primordial would see much play today.
It was printed right before the legend rule change(2 opposing legendaries killed each other), so every single blue deck had Metamorph, Phantasmal Image, and sometimes Rite of Replication. Deadeye Navigator was also a boogeyman at the time(despite looking completely unplayable to someone who started playing post-brawl).
Basically every casual game ended with a simic player blowing up everyone else's lands.
>>96059586This is really cute, who's the artist on this one?
>>96059560Please, just give me a version of Dockside that creates a treasure for each OPPONENT that controls an artifact or an enchantment. Definitionally won't go higher than 3, and that should be safe, right?
>>96059602Nevermind, found it. Kanekuo
>>96059583jesus I always forget Deadeye is six fucking mana
>>96059616Best I can think of
>>96059458That piece of shit is actually banned? Wtf lol.
>>96059668Sadly, โbeing a 2-drop creatureโ was actually one of the salient details of Dockside for me, but itโs the thought that counts.
>>96059684Never enjoyed a soulful format award
>>96059684most of the ban list is just stuff that pub stomped sheldons pod honestly
>>96059684Unfun cards for a table that give one player such card advantage and are practically an auto-include for that color AND can be cheated out very quickly... yeah it needs to stay banned.
>>96059702soul is primarily bracket 1, and winning soul is 2
3 is where you start getting a taste of degeneracy
Kilo precon has some pretty good reprints, damn
>>96059702Terastodon was printed less than a year after it though and is 3x better than that card.
>>96059721sylvan primordial at 7 mana is absolutely NOT an auto include in every green deck
>>96059727Terastadon doesn't ramp you, gives your opponents something (a minor something, but still something), costs more mana, and while this is irrelevant to the point, was printed like 3 years before Sylvan
>want counter intelligence
>both LGS are only allowing pre-orders for both decks
>oneโs selling them at $199.99
This fuckerโs selling out on day one isnโt it?
>>96059758sylvan also doesn't hit more than 1 noncreature permanent of an opponent that's about to popoff
yes, sylvan is overall better than terastodon
but why is terastodon+ even banned in 2025 is the point
>>96059767Pre-orders are retarded literally never buy into them.
>>96059767This is why you pre-order them when they first go up and cancel if they are shit
I got both for ~$30 each
>>96059727Terastodon came out years earlier, is more expensive/doesn't ramp you, and 3 elephants is a very real amount of elephants, especially when you're blinking/copying it.
You're right though, the simic decks with Sylvan Primordial played Terastodon and Woodfall Primus as well.
>>96059721It's probably not an autoinclude in current year, trying to play one of these 2013-era pubstomp decks would come off as quaint if anything. Someone posted a strong Teneb list from around this time last thread that would look embarrassing against precons.
>>96059798I just wanted to support my flgsโฆ
I would put prime time in every green commander deck I have.
>>96059802>It's probably not an autoinclude in current year, trying to play one of these 2013-era pubstomp decks would come off as quaint if anything. Someone posted a strong Teneb list from around this time last thread that would look embarrassing against precons. That's me, haha. I'm getting used to the new cards.
>>96059827so would everyone else
>>96059827And blue players put rhystic in every deck, wowzers
>>96059498https://archidekt.com/decks/13854291/blue
I typed it up.
I don't claim it's good, I just claim I keep finding stuff. I may or may not also have changed a few things doing this (aphetto alchemist is in the mail).
>>96059839Letโs not even try to say prime time is rhystic study level, despite what the ban list says
>>96059856Rhystic should also be banned
>>96059802No, Terastodon is from 2014 and Sylvan Primordial is from 2013.
>>96059856And yet in this very thread you have people demanding primetime remained banned despite rhystic and sphinx being free
Just doing my part is all
>>96059866I wouldnโt be bothered itโs too high power for my tastes anyways. No bracket 5 players in my pods
>>96059866>yes let's ban rhystic right after we sold an alter of it in FFWotc says no
>>96059867Terastodon is from worldwake, kill yourself.
holy shit someone make a new thread so i can post pics
what takes so long
>>96059878they reprinted Griselbrand too not too long ago
>>96059872Noobs. Most people donโt even have the lands to make prime time a real monster. Theyโd be drawing out duals and basics lol
>>96059875>only bracket 5 players use good draw spells
What's a good bracket 3 Kefka, Court Mage deck?
>>96059884Printing banned cards ruffles no one, in fact it fuels hope of them being unbanned
Want a repeat of the spergout over jew lotus and co. being banned? That's kind of what you're gonna get with rhystic
>>96059890>taking my rhystic study level deck to bracket 3 and below because I canโt stand competition
>>96059872do people still play sphinx? feel like i havent seen it in years personally
>>96059903>Want a repeat of the spergout over jew lotus and co. being banned?Yes, actually
>>96059914Any blue black deck that tries to play even remotely fairly in bracket 3 will love sphinx (grave titan aint it anymore)
>>96059881>Please wait a while before making a thread>300 secondsMan this site sucks now.
>>96059771I think the point is you're a tourist bitch who couldnt even figure out what order two cards were printed in
>>96059941>small date mistake.pngAaaaaiiiiiieeeeeee
>>96059939what, you want more Indians spamming BBC and AI threads?
>>96059914Itโs too much card advantage to be ignored. If it gets to sit even one rotation of turns thatโs 6 cards drawn just off drawstep
>>96059153Anon you cant do anything in your untap step, im afraid these wins you think you are having you do not have.
>>96059890>rhystic is merely good
>>96059968>>96059968>>96059968New thread.
This is what you get when you leave it up to randoms.
>>96059950Don't be so cocky then bitch
>>96059153anon were you doing illegal actions during your untap step
>>96059950You were wrong about when it came out and wrong about it being better. Getting 3 permanents destroyed and ramping for 3 is much better than terastodon
>>96059950No one cares that you didn't know when the card came out, but I can't imagine how much of a drooling subhuman retard you have to be to try and correct someone, after being corrected, when you obviously have no idea and could easily just look it up. Zoomers genuinely aren't human beings.
>>96058489Curry hands typed this. Only midwits like AI for anything past making quick NPCs in tabletop
>>96060157I like it because I can plug my overly specific fetishes into it and get something out of it.
Nissa wearing a latex maid outfit, pointing at me and shouting with her other hand on her hip? I'm willing to accept a few visual imperfections so long as I can get immersed in that fantasy.
>>96058688Sorry I should have put more emphasis on "A" as in only, and I think implied his first.
