nevermind the fact that the sylvaneth mounts do not have top mounted omnidirectional wings like dragonflies, but instead have side mounted single directional wings like a grasshopper. they also do not have dragonfly style legs which all are mounted at the front of the thorax, but rather have legs which are mounted at the front and back of the thorax like grasshoppers, and they lack the incredibly oversized compound 360 degree eyes of a dragonfly, having something much more similar to the small sideways facing eyes of a grasshopper.
they also have a large protective shell which their wings folt under, a feature lacked by dragonflies but present among most grasshoppers and have a large prominent forward jutting lower mandible just like grasshoppers, unlike dragonflies which have a smaller mandible that faces inwards towards their thorax and tail where they capture their prey.

In a vacuum it's better than nothing but the hunter is kinda trash in AoS and TOW. Ironguts are good for both games. The gnoblars are also good for both games, but 12 is too small for TOW (you need 20). You might be able to bulk out the ranks with the spare gnoblars on the Irongut sprues though
>>96058619Is that the rumour? I could see it considering how little support Ogors have received during the lifespan of AoS.
>>96058717you could convert it easily if you wanted
>>96058619If a model exists it will and can and should be looted
>>96058904>Is that the rumour? nope, there's no rumor for the removal of ogres yet.
the fact they got an actual unit, on top of multiple pity heroes, underworld bands and scenery pieces, makes them sound safer than all other factions that got squatted, but if they don't get updated by the end of the edition, then their situation could be very dire as well.
>>96058904I don't think it's been actually rumored but lack of future Ogor rumors + TOW's success in general + Cathay's big successful launch (which Ogres are their closest rival) + beastman getting squatted make it common speculation.
>>96058932Beastmen got an entirely new model that was around like a year/year and a half before squatting was announced. I don't think those are great signs of staying. Similar to beastmen the cost of new plastic molds for an entire range refresh is high so they might just decide that they're better of relaunching them in TOW
>>96058950Beastmen were already bloating the chaos sphere. Destruction doesnโt really have much of anything.
>>96058965GSG is bigger than several entire micro factions combined.
>>96058965Yeah that's probably the best argument against them leaving, but Destruction feels forgotten about besides Orruks in general.
>>96058904Not a rumour but I think everyone expects a refresh at some point given Mawtribes have been slowly transitioning to plastic and a core infantry refresh would clear up the range for a TOW version
Ogors are weird because it was a concession that a brand new army in 8th edition would share a body sprue for over half of it. They really stand out with every new kit
>>96058950I think the support Ogors have gotten is a lot more significant than what the Beastmen got but w/e.
Personally I think they're going to stick with legacy factions staying as legacy factions for the foreseeable future and am not particularly worried.
>>96058950a pity hero is not a real equivalent to a proper full unit
>>96058904People have been speculating about that since the beastmen squatting, since they also consist of mostly old fantasy models with only a handful of aos original sculpts (though more than beasts).
Afaik there's nothing really concrete to back it up, people asked whitefang junior, who said he hadn't heard anything of the sort.
So yeah just doomthinking so far but can't blame people for doing so either.

Yes, it was never true in lore.
Yes, your outrage heavy nerd youtuber unironically thought and said that.
Yes, you got a spam of helmetless models because retards didn't notice you can see there's a guy behind the stormcast mask on basic promo images of them
>>96062440What are you on about? There were no unit caps back then, you literally could run hundreds of figures per unit and it was all free.
>>96062440what is interesting is that most of these issues have since been rectified:
stormcasts have been redesigned to be less tacky and their role is less overbearing
the game got more and more in-depth rules
the setting dialed back on the mythical he-man fantasy hyperboles for something a bit more grounded and a bit more gritty
and over time the information about the setting have been piling up and being interconnected to form areas where maps are actually indicative of places, events and things
the only thing left is that it killed the old world, that's ultimately the first and final sin of aos, and not even completely, because the models and rules side of the old world too have been brought back as their own system
so in practice, it's just the end times, not aos
>>96062460>couldbut didn't
noone did, people immediately used wounds as a momentary cap to set up roughly equivalent armies on the table, and the general army composition that resulted wasn't skewed towards an impractical amount of infantry models, in the vast majority of cases
nobody placed 400 models to play again with your 20 infantry models

>>96062587sex with stormcast women
In seriousness though, I do think SCE as they are now are actually a very good addition to the game. Their 3rd and 4th edition models are (mostly) stellar (2nd was good too, the robes really reduced the sense of fatcast, but the thunderstrike armor is just a great improvement), they have good rules and they serve a nice purpose in the narrative as the main military force of Order, the hand that presses the balancing scales in their favor. I actually really like that the war against chaos is more even in AoS than it was in 40k and whfb, where chaos is/was just always stronger, where in AoS its always felt like order has a fighting chance. It's not just stormcast, dawnbringer crusades and morathi's successes also help with that feeling, but SCE are definitely a big part of it.

Everywhere I saw was like "here's how you paint gross dark, dirty boney skeletons!" and I was trying to paint sun-bleached ivory so I had to just do whatever the fuck I wanted and try to figure it out (which honestly is the best anyway)
Then Tomb Kings came out, my Deathrattle Skeleton models were now Old World, but I had already painted all my skeletons for Soulblight so I didn't care

So I bought the Skaventide box because I wanted the rats. What other rats should I buy to fill out the rest of the army?
>>96063932if 40k dredged itself out of the shitty launch of 10th, AOS can too. I reckon we're still just getting through the shit show of a "safe" launch.

Those lads have clocked out for the day without a peep about the anniversary. I wonder if theyโre going to commemorate it during the reveal stream then.
>>96063990Depends entirely on what flavour of rat you like honestly, if you want more footsloggers you can get a box or two of stormvermin, maybe even get the other spearhead if you really like clanrats. Stormfiends and/or weapons teams if you like shooting, moulder stuff if you like big monsters. Doomflayers I heard are pretty good. Eshin are supposedly getting some love later on in the eshin so might be worth planning for that if you're a fan of them.
You got tons of options as skaven.

>>96064675No but there are a couple DoT army showcases
>>96064610wouldn't it look way better to convert the units from different models altogether? cos kits don't look at home next to other tzeentch models even when with an affine colour scheme.

>>96066313There's a couple of old fantasy models still floating around, adide from the vargheists and co there's still the old zombie dragon/terrorgheist kit, the mortis engine and variants, hexwraiths, wight king, necromancer, ghouls, cairn wraith, maybe some other stuff that i've missed. I'm sure some of those have even older sculpts they can bring back, but yeah there's still a fair amount of whfb floating around in soulblight, fec and nighthaunt
>>96066316Lmao
>>96066375It is funny how widespread across the various factions they are, also you forgot corpse cart! (That's fine, GW does too) But I'd be sad to see Terrorgheist go but admittedly I imagine it could just get a new sculpt (I'd love if GW was based enough to do another duo sculpt with vampire lord and ghoul king and head swap for ZD but that's never gonna happen in a million years after the new lamer one came out)
>>96066391Spirit hosts too, although I think that's an end times model.
As for the terrorgheist, I do think unfortunately the most likely option is that they just refresh the terrorgheist and drop the zombie dragon from the fec range.
Shame that the new zombie dragon didn't come with a generic vampire lord option. I know I can just convert and run as vhordrai, but still.
>>96066531I really don't like the new ZD bit, the thing that really pisses me off is increasing the base size. Like, what the fuck man.
Also dropping cursed city stuff is fucking lame, they already neutered most of it why even pretend like it's gonna last.

>>96066548I personally absolutely love everything about the new zd (except the price) but it's quite a departure from the old one so I can understand why you wouldn't like him. The base size shit just sucks yeah.
>>96066629I'm convinced that model was created solely to move old black knight stock. Looks great too but a lot more classic gothic, compared to the bronze age warlord look the new king on steed has, which also meshes better with the footskellies. Still a weird decision though.
>>96066650The expansions only had one limited run of production which is obviously bungled because we know it was supposed to include miniatures
>>96066777They re-released the box year or two after the initial limited run
>>96066707I'm sure I'd love the model if I actually saw it up close since the old one is jag as fuck (having put together 2 and painted them this year. But the base change and lack of duo-kit really killed my excitement. Price too obviously but we're still not in GSG territory yet.

How many wardens does a Lumineth army need?
I ask because I'm proxying Cathay as Lumineth and need to know how many shield dudes vs 2 hander guys to build.
Is 40 wardens and 20 stoneguard/bladelords the right amount? (I'll be using the 2 handed weapon guys as either elite infantry type depending on list)
>>96068190Currently, not many. People like running Bladelords because they're more wound dense, higher damage, and more durable. Just flat better, really. Not to mention the perfect strike ability.
>>96068320I see, thank you anon.
>>96068392No problem. For the record, you should make SOME Wardens because who knows when you'd want to splash some into your list. I'd say maybe 20?
