He's got a normie personality and knows how to bring chess to layman audiences. That's his whole shtick, he isn't the best player, he doesn't have Hikaru's skill, but he's good at communicating and his game analyses are easy to follow and always have some dramatic story behind them. I remember when he wasn't very popular yet, he was doing collabs with Hikaru and commentating his games during tournaments, that helped a lot with exposure.

Why is a7 a blunder? So it goes:
48. a7 Qxa1
49. a8Q Qxa8
50. Qxa8 ...
Black has a knight and a bishop + 4 pawns, White has a queen and a bishop + 4 pawns.

>Qxa8
The bishop is pinned, so you can check with the knight forcing the first white queen to capture it, and only then you capture the other queen on a8.

That's undoubtedly what Caruana was thinking. However Black won't play 49... Qxa8, he will play 49... Nxf2+ intermezzo. The natural-looking Bxf2 is impossible due to the Qa1 pin, and Qxf2 also won't work because then the queen can go Qxa8+, which not only wins the new queen but is about to mate, and the last move Caruana has is to give up his other queen but it's still mate anyway - frankly cruel.

Kf6
For king moves, White either takes Kh6 or bishop dies, which is met with Rh8 and loses
That means White has to pick a B move, because h8=Q also dies to Rh8. I pick Bh6 because it gives me a line to e3 and otherwise I can get kicked off of h4 or e3. Even c1 doesn't seem safe. Either way, Black just has to play carefully with the Knight to worm its way back to the King. I need to see this played out.

I cheat against people who play the Englund. The second I see e5 played after d4, I whip out the engine. It needs to disappear and I feel I'm doing nothing wrong here. Learn how to win games without jewish tricks.
Also the hilarious part is that the engine thinks the Englund is so bad, that you can essentially use the engine to cheat and you won't get detected for cheating because basically any move is winning for white after the gambit is played.

Like the blurb says, moving the black pawn there traps it since it can't move forward any more, and putting the king in check forces black to move the king instead of moving the queen. So the game ends up a draw (no legal moves - stalemate) instead of an eventual white win.

They are making a rating list for Freestyle: https://www.freestyle-chess.com/freestyle-elo-table/
FIDE is now forced to add an "official" rating list for Chess960 (pro tip: it'll never happen).

Absolutely not. And they can throw in 1 or 2 bad moves then just use engine. Cheaters only get banned if they do it to many people so a dozen people report them. If they cheat once and then take a 30 day break, chesscom never bans them and never gives you a single point of rating back.

I've found a solution for the women chess problem: big opens with random pairings and random color assignment: with a bit of luck, a woman can win it!

the entire reason women have a separate league is not to keep women down, it's because women are bad at chess, so they are given free wins in an easy-mode tournament with superior men removed from it.
Women already are allowed to play in the open section. There's no such thing as a male section. They just don't because they objectively play weaker and lose and don't get a prize if they can't cheat by playing other women.

I'd like big tourneys to split the prize fund more evenly, to give something to players in the top 70 or so.

your desires are utterly irrelevant to the world. Everyone would like free money and gumdrops and unicorns. You can give away money to the top 70 when you make millions of dollars to host your own tournament, until then what you want doesn't matter even the tiniest fuck.

This game honestly makes me want to kill myself more than anything I've ever played in my life
How the fuck did I not see that my rook was hanging? I feel like the most worthless fucking retard in the world when I fumble 100% guaranteed wins with just one absolutely idiotic fucking move (and it happens in pretty much every single game)
I've been playing non-stop for the past 2 months and I've seen 0 improvement, at this point I'm pretty sure I have brain damage
