Mecha War Guy here.

So what do you guys want to see out of the 1990s Mecha War. So far have I have three major factions as well.

I have a theocratic empire that has been around since the middle ages (Over 1000 years of continued existence) with inspirations from the Ottoman and Germans. The aggression of them annexing an economically in debt neighbor to pay back loans and then war debt (the nation started an uprising after being forced to lease land to payback a loan, now occupied until they payback both situation.)

I have a coalition of independent states many monarchies working as an alliance to chip away at the empire for break away states, reclaim old historical lands, and balance of power the continent and space colonies.

Then I have a plutocratic democracy on the neighboring continent controlled by long-standing houses and commoners.

The war happens because the coalition and empire start shooting each other have border incursions by "both" sides. The federation becomes involved because they are supplying the coalition in the war and get their fleet bombed by the empire to knock off the supplying in a Day of Infamy, thus making the war intercontinental.

Someone made the suggestion of having waifus as a separate page/DLC. That is not a bad idea especially since I linda want them to be woven into the war narrative.

Though might as well make this Tok thread not be such a complete waste of space, so I'll probably make a series of posts where I take a look at Tok CYOAs I liked/enjoyed. Unless this thread dies and Tok doesn't make a new one, but what are the chances of that?

Might include some actual builds, but in some cases like Dragonfall it will be more of a retrospective on those CYOAs.

Tok Restrospective Part 1: Dragonfall

This is probably Tok's most popular CYOA, and definitely the one I made the most builds for. Spent most time on it, too. I don't think I ever posted a single one of them, though.
Ones I made included:
Sword Snake with big bonk (Muscles Tier 4, Tail Tier 4 (Brutal, Profane)), just smash shit
Various different breath attack builds, notably Gargantuan Arcane+Mana Breath with Corrupting Breath (Arcane Weakness) and Elemental Mastery (Arcane) to buff it
Ice and fire elemental dragons
Gargantuan turle with shooty spikes on its shell
Mage Dragon, pretty self-explanatory, high level of magic and mental ability
Prototyped many other too, but dropped most of them before finishing, such as hive mind as it jobs to the first build I mentioned, so seemed pointless, would probably job to a mage or psychic too

I nearly always took level 1 Magic, just for self-sustaining and then Magic Dunce Drawback, since that paid for your food and gave some extra points.
Picked Eastern Dragon in most cases, maxing out Flight and Lungs, even though just going magic route would've probably been better.

I feel like despite all the choices available, it wasn't easy to make a satisfactory build. Some options just seem overwhelmingly superior, while others are pretty shit. The fuck is a turtle going to do against orbital arcane laser, for example? Elemental build was fun thematically, but dedicated breath or magic would be so much stronger, took some of the fun out of making builds. I actually enjoyed some of the others more.

I'm making these posts in no particular order, by the way. It's not "best/worst first" or anything.

Tok Restrospective Part 2: Messed Up Waifu

Not my favorite CYOA ever by any stretch of the imagination, but actually surprisingly okay for what it is. I frankly expected much worse from Tok. While there's still some absolutely vile shit in there, there's a good range of permissible Quirks to build waifu and gain points for other options.

I'll just list some Quirks I found permissible. "+" denotes quirks I find better than others for some reason or other, "-" denotes ones I find less preferable but still okay-ish, "*" denotes ones that I'd only take in combination with certain other quirks. If there's no symbol after one of the option, it means I feel mostly neutral about it, though it might still score lower than others on my scale.

Already seems like a good enough of a list, though. I'd actually take this deal if it was really offered to me, that's more than I can say for many CYOAs, and good enough as far as I'm concerned.

Legendary Weapon (Staff): Large two-handed magical staff. Specifically made to be a catalyst for lightning magic, prioritizing penetrating any resistances or immunities to lighting and/or magic.

Arcane Artifact (Tattoo Engraver): Replaces your usual Arcane Rituals tattoos with permanent ones that buff the engraved spell when cast by you instead of giving a single cast of it

Passive Skill (Lightning Affinity): Do I really need to explain?

On World: Choices mostly made to give me maximum possible social advantage.

Additonal Notes 1: In at least one interactive port, you're allowed to pick bosses from Tok's Battle Sluts CYOA as Rivals (with Double Trouble), but I didn't do that since the version in Tok's folder doesn't seem to have the option. I'd prefer to have Guinevere & Lilith along with Adyassa as Rivals instead, though.

Additonal Notes 2: Yes, I know I don't have companions. But there's no points, so I'll have to either go solo or recruit and hope I can carry.

Additonal Notes 3: Not gonna lie, I much prefer some of the DLC options. I don't want to have some wolf trying to rape me in the ass, just kill me instead.

Additional Notes 4: I probably wouldn't be a very satisfactory champion in this case. For example in the intro, I doubt I'd bang a maid right there even if given permission to. Even less likely if she threatened or pressured me to do it. Why do I suddenly have a feeling I'd make Gwendolyn lose a lot of bets?

Tok Restrospective Part 4: Fulfilling A Wish

This one was too depressing... I wanted to save them all. Well, except Zynthia, because I know from other Tok CYOAs she's a degenerate piece of shit. Also she clearly has godlike power already, so it should be easy to find someone to love herself, plenty of fish in the multiversal sea. Yet she's throwing herself a pity party instead.

Luna: I mean, if I'm someone's ideal partner, and they aren't completely repulsive to me, I kind of feel like answering their wishes.

Penelope: That's sad and all, but if there's an anime about my life, it should teach you violence is never the answer. It's the question, and the answer is yes. Kill your fucking bullies or die trying. Otherwise I only have so much sympathy for you.

Elizabeth: Well, she actually tried to better herself instead of moping around, that gets my stamp of approval. Even if I don't care too much about the things she improved on, or the kind of person they helped her become. One of the better candidates.

Nariko: This one isn't as miserable as some of the others, but doesn't really stand out that much either. Seems like a generic, albeit dedicated, waifufag.

Lily: See what I said about Penelope. It applies here as well.

I'll just go with Luna. She (presumably) made the anime all the others saw, and she's the cutest to me.

Tok Restrospective Part 5: Your CYOA

Now this was a neat little one. Most of the options wouldn't even be usable for me, whether it's because I've never had the relevant item (Your Harem), or otherwise haven't engaged with the hobby at all. Your Option fixes all that. I like how this CYOA leans on what you're into. It also does franchiseslop better than poorly made dedicated CYOAs, since you can pick:

Your Power -2
Your Technology -2
...for example, which mean you get to go to whatever world you want with whatever tech and powerset you'd like. There's also others you can substitute some of those with, like Your Waifu, Your Skill, Your Race, and Your You. Really well-executed franchiseslop CYOA might be better for a specific setting, with presentation and options suited for it. I'd argue Your CYOA does the generic "pick a world, waifus, and powers" better than any number of overly convoluted redditslop. It's a simple one-pager that does its job well, and with character.

With this one I feel like I can really say: good job, Tok.

To this day, a bunch of question about this CYOA still bug me. They probably got answered somewhere before but I didn't read, and never tried to look the answers up.
1. For New Race, would this allow you to choose something like Human+ with better affinity for magic and overall improved biology?
2. How do Part-Timer and Preparation interact with certain powers (questions 3-5)?:
3. Can I have as much time as I want on Earth with Save and Load, or do I get transported based on my subjective time?
4. So I live on Earth with changed appearance for a year. After Preparation time runs out, do I revert to my pre-CYOA body state when Part-Timer kicks in?
5. If I make magical items, pocket dimensions, or other shit to leave on Earth, do I get to keep them in Part-Timer mode?
6. What's the deal with Waifu (Specifically Character Gacha), do you get a version of the character that's in love with you just because? If so, are they permanently fixed to that state? Is it an individual specifically created to be my waifu, or from some timeline/universe?
7. How specific can you get with "Specific Summoner"? Complete physical description? Mental charateristics? Situation?
8. Why is Magical prodigy so fucking expensive? I think some interactive port made it cheaper, but I'm going off Tok folder prices here. It costs more than infinite mana. Absurd.

Besides those, the overall power of some choices isn't that high for something named "Overpowered Isekai," you can do better than Chrono Break with magic.

Swift Learning is just really low-tier genius, a real one isn't just "monkey see, monkey do," they'd take the skill and make their own improved version, or just make superior original techniques. It's still useful, don't get me wrong, but hardly worth calling one a genius in my eyes. Many characters can do better, and I've done so in real life too.

I did have some good times with them, so I should do at least this much. I hope you liked the attention Tok, if not this was a wasted effort.

I've talked a lot of shit about you, and sometimes I've glazed you just for fun. I don't really agree with your worldviews and think some (or most) of your work is utter trash. But I still had fun times with some of your CYOAs, and seeing the community seethe about you was great too. The only real threat I have is enemy venom or bio-plasma. Thankfully, mental attacks have a maximum range and I'm quick enough to avoid a lot of slower moving plasma attacks, but the very same envenomed sniper dart style I use is the perfect counter to me.
