>>96088180>>96088195>>96088204>>96090033>So Cathay might be... slightly overtuned. You may have a full six non-character options currently, but they compensated for a lack of versatility with raw power. Many of your units and weapons are stuffed with high stats and rules for their points costs, such as a low cost magic item that give strikes first, Jade Warriors being Empire State Troops while having heavy armor, WS4 and unique rules, and Miao Ying only being 30 points more than Orion while being WAY better. You most certainly have "New Army Powercreep" syndrome, good luck finding anyone who will play with you or a tournament who won't ban you. Its possible to play sub-optimal armies, either by taking allies who kinda suck for thematic reasons, smaller units, or playing without a wizard since you only have two choices for one, but showing up with four or five Imperial Knight-sized minis and big blocks of infantry lead by someone who would have Sorcerer levels in D&D might lose you friends.>https://1d6chan.miraheze.org/wiki/Warhammer/Old_World_Tactics/Grand_CathayCan you people please make up your fucking mind of whether or not Cathay is overpowered?

>>96093667>>96093677Good point I didnt think of that, it does spell out battle/dark only. I think even without mantle or lore spells, can't hurt to chuck hammerhands or doombolts for 35pts and if I'm playing oops all cows let's be honest I'm not playing for max efficency. Or spend the pts elsewhere but you can't have great brays anyways.

Hi /wfg/. I have a 500 point event day coming up with 4 games using Seize the Tower limitations.
I am in a conundrum at the moment.
Here is what I have
Aspiring Champion, Great weapon, Shield, Mark of Chaos [Mark of Khorne], General, Favour of the Gods - 91
4 Chaos Knights, Lances, Shields, Mark of Khorne - 124
10 Chaos Warriors, Shields, Mark of Chaos [Mark of Khorne] - 160
8 Chaos Marauders, Flails, Mark of Chaos [Mark of Khorne], Skirmishers - 64
5 Chaos Warhounds - 30
5 Chaos Warhounds - 30
499 points
My conundrum is: Do i drop 2 chaos warriors for a fifth Knight? 5 knights gives them a much stronger field advantage but the warriors lose valuable bodies once the inevitable damage comes in.
Inversely, 4 knights is a bit squishy but 10 Warriors with the hero can cause big damage.
Thoughts?
>TLDR
5 knights and 8 warriors or 4 knights and 10 warriors?
>>96094262Mr no games they donโt count as having charged when that happens. Learn to read.

>>96093711PIC related.
The book itself is very western but the subject matter isn't.
It really got me in the mood for an properly run empire army where those unfit for its betterment are purged out and sent to the dark forest for work.
>>96093751the general consensus among the batrep channels who have been playing it is that specific elements within the army are strong, but when taken as a whole, the army is just "pretty good"
>>96097322The only thing thatโs really broken in the book is the balloons. They are far too cheap and far too good. The shugengen is mediocre, Miao is a tough to use tech piece, the cannons are really expensive. Itโs really not as good as youโd think.
>>96097434This is just like so many vidya. Character looks OP as fuck on paper but in practice has one thing going for it but is otherwise quite crap.
>>96097322If paid shills, tourneyfags think it's merely "pretty good" then it's a solid sign Cathay is OP and/or retarded to play against.

>>96097696Not really her fault the Grand Theogonist was a heckin' misogynist (I always though his objection was pretty weird considering that there had been loads of Empresses by that point, although admittedly they included the rebellious and anti-Sigmarite Ottilia and Bloody Beatrice the Monumentally Cruel).
Magritta seems like a pretty standard ruler, really.
>>96097434>>96097452and i really most normal people are not going to field more than 0-1 balloon. its $200 for a 100pt model, i think thats gonna turn a lot of people off or at least make it prohibitive for most people to spam.
like, even just hitting the rule of 3 limit for balloons you're $500 in the hole and not even 1/4 of your points.
>>96097828Events are going to limit them because they are, in fact, too good and too cheap, so anyone who drops a grand on them won't ever get to play them anyway.

>>96097851yeah thats why i was referencing the rule of 3 limit, which is technically a house rule for ToW, but i dont think most people are even going to hit that. i think you may see 1 in the average list, and i would not be surprised if a lot of people just straight up skip it, it costs as much as a whole battalion box, they might just get a second battalion box instead.
it might cause a fuss at a big event where waacfags arent beyond dropping $500 for some stupid jank or printing it, but i dont think you're gonna see that at normal tables.

>>96094235Is there a Games Day Archaon on foot stl somewhere?
>>96097677>Probably a while before Alia would be electable though.I doubt that there's an age limit on that. GW is never going to delver deeper into topics like this, but if we go by the HRE system then you don't need to be a specific age to be elected... you just have to be a man (or boy in younger cases). Henry IV was just three years old when he became emperor-elect.
>>96097696>>96097823>>96097908>>96098002I think this is one of those lore tidbits that shows how bad GW is at sticking to a specific canon for their own settings. The one that came up with the Three Emperors shit went with the assumption that emperors can generally only really be men, and the writers behind other lore information either disregarded it or (most likely) didn't bother to read what was established before.
Virtually all the emperors of note besides the Ottilians (the Maria Theresas of this empire?) were men, with Beatrice being a very late RPG addition.
That statue is crap by the way.
>>96096023Do you also not know who donald trump is?
>>96098254>besides the OttiliansMy bad, I forgot about the Marienburg claimants.
>>96097182Feels like 5x2 warriors is much better than 8x1, but attack wise 8x1 is 16 attacks vs 15 of 5x2...2 w, maybe +1 rank for 1 less attack sounds better unless you're certain you can consistently get the 8 to charge in which case shoring up heavy cav is good.
>>96098254By 'electable' I meant 'the electors would vote for them'. But I guess there are always political reasons they may want to elect a child into office (controllability etc).
Beatrice isn't a late addition, she's from the Genevieve books (mentioned alongside Hjalmar the Tyrannical). So I think she might even predate the 'no Empresses' reasoning for the anarchy. I don't remember off the top of my head whether she's dated in the books, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Age of Wars reference came from there - Kim Newman was generally pretty good at making concrete details.
GW has long needed an autistic background czar to organise things on a high level, but Andy Law is a liability and half the studio authors can't be bothered to look something up on the wiki before writing about it so here we are.
>>96098101cool! Where are the bodies from?

>>96097762Love you too anon.
>>96098330Well technically it'll be 9 counting the general but ya the 5 chaos knights sounds good. Cheers man.
>>96097586>The title of President is not heritableAnd yet the Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys, Trumps, etc seem to have an awful lot of political sway, strange.

So fucking kino. What can I use these as in wh fantasy?
>>96098254>I think this is one of those lore tidbits that shows how bad GW is at sticking to a specific canon for their own settingsI don't think this is one of those cases where the canon is broken, some people can be against an empress even if there were some in the past, times change, situations vary and so do the opinions of people who have a say on the matter.
not to mention how a previous empress might be a reason to develop a bias against women on the throne, if she was particularly bad, or how we're talking about the reasoning about an event almost one thousand years in the past of this setting, it's perfectly plausible for the reason to be merely a story that was passed down by one side of argument, which ended up simplifying a potentially much broader diplomatic story.

>>96098592Actually good games.
>>96098592Napoleonics are a bit too forward in time for the historical aesthetics that normally influence warhammer.
I personally have my own headcanon for where one could find napoleonic looking people in the warhammer world, namely the border princes where I imagine the various exiles and people looking to make a name out for themselves from scratch are willing to abandon the traditions of most other nations and to accept all sorts of cutting edge technologies and military tactics to gain victories and renown, with the warhammery twist being that the fancy uniforms to look rich and powerful and the new technologies and highly trained troops are more of a facade than anything, with haphazardly patched uniforms should you check the backside, and some of the guns being malfunctioning prototypes or straight up fakes loaded with cork
otherwise these could simply be some extravagant northwestern tileans that picked up a new fashion trend after witnessing the habits and hats of dwarf merchants that came from further east than usual
>>96094560>thoughtNo pastebin anon so far, he lurks in the darkness like a silent avenge, but thanks for the pdf

>>96098592empire would definitely be your best fit
>>96098819>oh please. we have everything from stone age cavemen to vietnam apache helicoptersNot in humans! that's where the main problem lies here.
>>96098873which humans? because within the span of the same setting you have german/italian/english dukedoms with steam powered tanks and riflemen, knights of the round table on a magical quest still using wooden trbuchettes and bowmen, norse vikings and barbarians, a chinese empire with black powder cannons, russian hussars, slavic kossars led by ice witches, and more
im a little confused, which humans are you referring to?
>>96098933All of em, because none of those are Napoleonic lmao
Insane that perrynigger will reply to himself multiple times on one post. Remember to report and not engage.
There's no napolenic tech strategy or tactics in warhammer despite being so broad, meaning they can't shoehorn their way in.
Ironically the only race they could do it with is skaven or chorfs but that requires effort.

>>96097182I can't really speak authoritatively about what's best at 500 points because the smallest games of TOW I've played have been at 1000 points, but I would caution against going below 10 models in a unit of infantry. Even chaos warriors, as tough as they are & no matter how many dogs you sacrifice will eventually get shot at and you'll want as many bodies in that unit as possible. What will a 5th knight really do for you? 2 more attacks on the charge? In exchange for immediately giving up your warriors' rank bonus the second one of them dies? Terrible trade, if you ask me. Anyway, you really don't need to worry about these small optimizations. Go with what you think would be the most fun! And then take what you find the most fun and use it as a base as you work up to 1000 points and 1500. That's when the game gets really good! This is more or less what my army looked like at 1000 points and looking back, those were the most fun games of TOW I played.

Why is it so hard for GW yo get scale right when they do everything digitally? Literally just import a reference model alongside whatever you're working on so you get consistently. Holy shit it's not that hard
>>96102613>>96102619>aos "vampires"lmfao
>>96103295The base is 20mm, I don't intend to ever play or acknowledge tow. They're somewhat taller than normie mortals, but that's an intentional design choice that I wholeheartedly support. If you already have magic powers and can shapeshift, why wouldn't you make yourself a head taller to flex on all the manlets?
>>96103295>Why is it so hard for GW yo get scale right when they do everything digitally? It's not hard, but they know bigger minis sell more, both because there are size queens in the hobby, and because bigger minis are easier to paint both by newcomers and experts and they both end up advertising the product by sharing their work online.
Plus, making the miniatures bigger allows them to cheat when it comes to making a better looking product that can also fit within old models, because the bigger mini will have more 'realistic' proportions compared to the old heroic models (thus looking better to the modern target consumer) but by making the model bigger they can also have that realistic proportions without reducing the size of the head significantly, and a bigger dude is more acceptable than one with a smaller head, especially when we're talking about heroes.
There's also the technical aspect of plastic models arguably still having issues with some finer details so making the models overall bigger helps with those, but I have no real idea of whether they use moulds of different qualities for different types of products or what's really a technical limit or a stylistic choice.
>>96103365I don't think it's any of those reasons in this case. 2021 zombies look just as detailed if not more, and they're the same size as 6/7/8e plastic infantry but with realistic proportions. See

Sup fa/tg/rogs, I come bearing alleged Friday preview news:
The next two Arcane Journals will be: The War for Westerland, featuring Miao Ying's Jade fleet, Manann's Blades and a fucking weird Fimir centric AoI. The 2nd will be AJ: Dogs of War, with two new plastic kits
The Jade fleet contains every Cathay unit bar sentinels, and loses the elemental winds (Yin and Yang) rule to fight in an extra rank. Jade lancers aren't core, so good luck painting infantry! 30% mercenary allowance, with Empire captains, lvl 2 wizards, state troops, missile state troops, free company, pistoliers, ogres and Manann's Blades all in there. Suspect this list is gonna be how most people play Cathay. There's also an admiral special character (no model shown, guess he's coming later), who's a roguish, swashbuckler type, who's been living in the Old World for years, who lets you reroll misbehaving mercenaries, can give mercs his leadership, and can also force enemy mercs to fail their misbehaving rolls (bribery). Curiously he can also be mounted in a sky lantern.
Lore is that Marienburg is so under pressure with Norse and Fimir raids that Miao Ying has put it under her protection, whether the Marienburgers want it or not.
Full set of new Cathayan items my source didn't know about
Manann's Blades are the old kit, with the arms recast in resin. You can take as many units as you like, and they can be armed with hw&s, halberds or handguns. Come with heavy armour and at 9 points per model, can be bought pistols for the lulz. Greatsword statline with bs4, drilled, plus ambush or vanguard, these guys are basically Royal Marines and what vet state troops should have been. Special choice for Empire, suspect they're gonna see a lot of play, esp with the special character
Running out of text, more in next post
>>96103391>it's deliberate and has an in-universe reasoning to back it up.Yeah, no, the other heroes are just as oversized as the undead heroes, it's not a lore thing.
>>96103441sounds believable, but I'll be angry if they don't bring back the landship

I wanted an excuse to convert elite marienburgers with sword and pistol but only had the free company militia statline available
>>96103447I'm pretty sure that greatsword had his lower legs cut off and the feet glued to his knees to make a halfling. An unaltered model would be as tall as the foot knight on the far right.
>>96103441I guess the pirate dude with bird is the ideal way to represent him
>>96103441>Lore is that Marienburg is so under pressure with Norse and Fimir raids that Miao Ying has put it under her protection, whether the Marienburgers want it or not.Apparently the Treaty of Amity and Commerce means nothing when you're getting raped by Norscans but when you want to secede from the Empire the High Elves are willing to bring out the big guns?
>>96103441contd
Manann's Blades special character, again no model shown, is the new commander of the Blades after the last one was killed by Fimir, really standard Empire general statline (but only Ld 9, guess he predates the FAQ), hw&s and heavy armour, no ward, but if he's general makes Manann's Blades core.
Fimir list is weird as sin. No new models, just the three basic great weapon guys and the Fimirach Noble, the background is that a coven of Chaos Sorcerers has been causing all sorts of weird shit to pop up around Marienburg to help out the orc raids. The contents of this list feels like a random who's who of other armies' core infantry. It is as follows:
Characters:
Chaos Sorcerers and Sorcerer Lords, who are allowed to use the Lore of Necromancy (you need one on Necromancy if you want to use undead units.)
Fimir Noble (basically a hero level guy)
Core:
Fimir, bog standard monstrous infantry, who can ambush from terrain.
Orc Boyz
Goblins (regular, not Night)
Skeletons
'Marsh Zombies' the motherfucking plastic Zombies kit from the 1990s has been brought back. Hold on to your hats, this list only gets random and weirder
Special:
Chaos Warriors
Tomb Guard, on the premise that there were a bunch on display in a museum somewhere in Marienburg
Rare:
Monster called a 'Gargoyle of Bagra'. Massive gargoyles from a building in Marienburg brought to life by the Chaos Sorcerors. Meaty stats and -1 to wound. Can be given wings and various other upgrades. Would guess there isn't a kit coming, because apparently the unit entry tells you to just pick a large model and paint it like its made out of stone.
List gives most units ambush and vanguard, and gives the Sorcerors a new signature spell that lets them summon the undead stuff. Utterly random, I can't see it doing well competitively, and feels like something someone with ADHD would collect.
Rest of the book's full of cool lore, 3 linked scenarios, and cityfight rules that nobody will ever use.

>>96103441>>96103546Contd with Dogs of War
My source hasn't seen the book, so what he shared was a bit less clear.
The book will be called Dogs of War, and contains a Grand Army list. The two new plastic kits contain both Tilean and Estalian options, and an army can be flavoured either way.
The kits are a pike/crossbowman box, and a 'venator' knight box. They're gorgeous models to the standard of Cathay, and contains the option for either plumed Tilean helmets and floppy hats, or classic Morion Conquistador helms for the Estalians.
The pike/crossbowmen are in heavy armour, but alas the crossbowmen do not have pavise shields like the old metal RoR.
Galloper guns, and birdmen are returning in resin. There's a new resin Paymaster and cart, and Estalian and Tilean foot and horse heroes.
The Dogs of War list is weird apparently. It's a mishmash of old units as under previous editions, but you unlock different stuff based on what race your general and paymaster are, similar to the militia list in HH I guess.
The paymaster is basically a BSB+, and while not mandatory you'd be crazy not to take one. Rides a cart with a load of extra wounds that can be sat in a block of infantry, 18" BSB range, lets you pick the result if you fail a misbehaving merc test (spoiler: all DoW units are mercs), and the entire army hate the unit that kills him.
As for the build a bear list component, the following races are available to generals, and most of them are available to paymasters: Tilean, Estalian, Empire, Dwarf, High Elf, Ogre, Orc, HOBGOBLIN
Yep, Hobgoblins are back. Apparently they're the Chaos Dwarf sculpts not the Asian looking DoW ones though. Metal, not resin. Can only be taken with a Hobgoblin general apparently, and lock out a lot of other options.
Some of the general options can't be taken as Paymasters (guessing orc?), and a lot of them can't be combined (a greenskin general with a dwarf paymaster I'm guessing).
Wow, out of room, more to come

>>96103760More Dogs of War
The choice of who is your general or paymaster unlocks various different unit options and restricts others. For example, a dwarf general paymaster moves basic mercenary dwarfs from special to core, and allows you to take longbeards and dwarf cannons in special, while preventing you from taking any orcs in your list at all.
There's no benefit for stacking a general and paymaster of the same race, I think the idea is to encourage people to lean into the cosmopolitan nature of DoW armies.
Tileans unlock galloper guns and birdmen. Estalians don't unlock any new units, but make your Estalian units better, and let you give the front rank of a pike unit crossbows.
Hilariously High Elf generals unlock nothing. I think the intonation's supposed to be 'you get to take a dragon, now fuck off'.
Forgot to them in the list in the last post, but Norse generals are also a thing. Don't know what they unlock, but presumably Marauders/Berserkers?
Giants are in the list as a rare choice.
If there are special characters I forgot to ask about them.
I hope this is of interest. Source: my dad is Matt Ward
>>96103760>>96103813Forgot to add, obviously most of the new units introduces are available as mercenaries for other armies.
>>96103760>and a 'venator' knight box. This would essentially be a stealth update for the empire knightly orders.
>>96103813>Hilariously High Elf generals unlock nothing. I think the intonation's supposed to be 'you get to take a dragon, now fuck off'.Fair, considering the one high elven dow unit was a dude on a dragon, who canonically didn't become a mercenary until the end of the great war against chaos.

How many of the old DoW metal kits will come back though? Alcatani Fellowship or the Leopard Company would tempt me

>>96103965>I imagine it's setup for the Chaos Dwarf releaseAoS is releasing a whole plastic roster for them in there, I doubt TOW has any plans to bring up the old metal chaos dwarfs or old resin chaos dwarfs, unless it's as mercenary units for a chaos warriors army of infamy.

Allegedly they're in line enough with the old look for them rather than something completely different, with hats, but I'm not going to trust that opinion because rumormongers are obligatory gw fanboys, but I expect them to be as different as new lizardmen and new vampires are to old lizardmen and old vampires, rather than as different as kharadrons are to old dwarfs.

>"TOW will be set during the age of 3 emperors so you will have 4 different Imperial factions fighting for supremacy!"
>"Also one of the 4 factions is actually under Cathay control"
Master tacticians, I require your help.
I've got a 2k game coming up against Cathay, an I'm playing Empire.
I'm reading through the rules for Cathay, and I need some advice on how to defeat them.
Idk what my friend has, I am guessing 3D printed stuff so the battalion is not a good measurement,
he likes to use characters and usually brings strong monsters and warmachines.
So almost guaranteed to see the lantern and statue.
I'm thinking a captain on griffon to at least try and chase his lantern, probably a steam tank or cannons to try and deal with the statue.
>>96104678Some things to know
>their artillery can shoot twice so can decimate troops>their troops are far hardier than yours but about the same output>your cav should beat their cav on the charge but if they 5x2 they can swing in 2 ranks.>their magic is far better but you can spam mages>the statue is surprisingly fast>the baloon is a nightmare I think enpire wins with target saturation and grinding but I'm not expert. I'd imagine demigryphs and steam tank are huge here.
>>96104568how would a force that focuses on them look like?
>cannons moved by bulls/horses for faster redeployment >variant of the lantern without gunners crew that acts as troops transport for a melee crew>said swashbuckling melee boarding crew converted from free company militia with head and weapons swaps>sky junk you have to convert from the lantern and a rockets launcher>sky ship you have to convert from a chinese boat model and a pair of cathay lanterns >illegal opium illusionist pirate wizard>firebird (great eagle/phoenix proxy)>mercenary ogre maneaters>mercenary elven skycutters>mercenary dwarf gyrocopters>mercenary tilean birdmen
>>96104678Go wide with infantry to saturate the field, outriders or pistoliers to delete his chaff, griffon and artillery to tackle big stuff, mages for utility
>>96104653Depends on how it's presented. If it's Marienburg's trade partners sending troops to assist in order to protect their interests, that's fine. It helps show Marienburg's outward-facing character.
If it's 'these Imperial monkeys can't handle things on their own, mighty Cathay must protect them for their own good' then that's fucking awful. Only High Elves are allowed to do that, and only because the reader understands that they're a waning power.
>>96104678What models do you have?
f you want to be a completely gamey twat, I'd recommend a low drop list with a lot of cannons and no scouts, with Hans von Lowenhacke in it, so you get +2 to the roll for first turn, and can shoot all his artillery off turn 1 (aim 10" from the back), and then have free reign to pick off the rest of his big stuff for the rest of the game.
A Steam Tank is never a bad option, and also comes with a bonus cannon.
A big block of veteran state troops with the griffon banner gets +9 static combat res and Jade Warriors and lancers aren't going to dish out too much damage, so that feels like a must.
Griffon captain as a lantern hunter sounds like a good shout.
Good luck!
>>96104744The Cathayans think the stupid western monkeys can't defend themselves and the Marienburgers think they're getting a great deal not having to spend money on soldiers. Everybody wins!
>>96104723>their troops are far hardierYeah, you come to the same conclusion as I did. Their jade warriors have kind of the same stats as veteran state troopers for 1 extra point, but they have such good special rules.
>Defensive stance>Will of the DragonsSo they are basically WS5, 8 point dudes.
>their artillery can shoot twiceYeh, I saw that, I guess I pray for first turn and try and shoot with cannons or bring ambushers/scouts.
>spam magesNot sure how good this is now with the magic nerf, and considering they get bonus to cast when close to friendly mages.
>the baloon is a nightmareYeah, this is probably the one unit im most scared of, im thinking a captain on griffon is the only way to deal with it, without allocating shooting from cannons.
>>96104751I've collected for a long time so I have access to every unit and can have multiples of them.
>>96104723>the statue is surprisingly fastits also waaaaaay squishier than the model would make you believe. it may be a foot tall model made of solid stone but its about as durable as a regular gorghon. 6w, 5+ save. granite version gets a 4+ save and terracotta version gets a 6+ regeneration, but otherwise its shockingly easy to take down
>>96104840Excellent. Four cannons, 2 engineers to babysit them, a Stank, big block of griffon banner swordsmen, core Knights of the White wolf and Hans von Lowenhacke are the order of the day. You will have better infantry and cavalry than them and everything else will be dead because you've got 5 cannons
>>96104731>>cannons moved by bulls/horses for faster redeploymentNo cannons, only rockets and add mercenary imperial rocket batteries and cathay gunners on horses made from outriders and lantern gunners.
>>96104889>waaaaaay squishier than the model would make you believeI think the granite version will become the norm, considering it also gives you immunity to multiple wounds. So cannons are basically useless against a granite statue.
>>96104731I don't know if there's enough to just do Cathayan sky-pirates as a land-based army without it getting a bit fucky. But I wouldn't mind seeing masked warpstone desert nomads, proper alchemists and such.
Kites would be good inspiration for an airborne cathayan unit, though.

>>96105130Why wouldnt they be real?
>>96105263Itโs better to expect the worse and be pleasantly surprised than the opposite.
>>96103441>Manann's Blades are the old kit, with the arms recast in resin.Wasn't the original Mannan's Blades already in resin ? It"s anotjer resin type ?
>>961052634chan leaks don't have the best odds of being real
>>96105289They and the Nuln Ironsides needed the plastic Swordsmen and Handgunner arms because of some weird internal ruling about Warhammer Forge only being able to make upgrade kits for armies/units that already had models at the time
>>96105263Because people post bullshit all the time, and even when legit leakers often get it half right or outdated/beta info that doesn't make it to release. Until we see a screenshot or model best best to hedge expectations.
>>96105289I think the arms were the normal plastic state troops kit's
which opens two possibilities:
>distributing the sprue of state troops arms separately from the rest of the plastic kit is unfeasible for some reason >they have plans for retiring the state troops for an updated (and incompatible with the manann blades) plastic kit
>>96105263They're very detailed, very optimistic, and at moments very weird.
I think the latter is more in favour of them being real, to be honest.
>>96105263Feels too good to be real, but at the same time way too specific and in-depth to be just a shitpost. As in, if you were gonna put that much effort into such a shitpost then you'd probably be trying to spread it in more "legit" sites than in here where it will die off after page 10.
>>96105289>>96105346I actually own them.

>>96105472Wholesome and Very nice
>>96086558>>96086585Hmm, I see.
>Tbh if you want marienburgers your best bet is to kitbash the free company militia box with archers, because the archers kit gives you a clothing style far closer to the original mordheim models. Sounds like a good idea but I won't do that, as that would already be too much for my wallet.
Also, iirc Marienburgers are supposed to be rich or fairly wealthy blokes, so idk if the company militia model would give an opposite message.
Another thing; I have requested this before but I'd like to do so again, to any finnanon.

>>96106270>Cathay doesn't have good magic defense.Nobody does now, the only difference between a high level wizard and cheap shit wizard is a +1, and cathay can field a high level wizard.
>>96100222Paladins are good!
WS6/3A for 60 points is great.
If you're doing a questing knight paladin, I would recommend putting him with pilgrims so that his stubborn actually works and does something.
If you're running him with foot knights, you can probably just leave him with the knight's vow, as his stubborn wouldn't work, so you'd be spending +15 points just to reroll fear, panic and terror tests.
But a cheapish paladin with a budget magic weapon and a cheeky gauntlet of the duel can be a neat addition to an infantry unit for sure.
>>96106270>Also your artillery outranges his and is more reliable with engineer dudes. The difference in range is irrelevant and the cathayan cannon too can reroll one dice on the first cannonshot
>what about the other cannonshotsone turn of cathay cannons are enough to get rid of anything they need go get rid of
>>96106302Fwiw they do have the 3+ no touch banner and the doubles= miscast. But empire can bring those witchhunter pendants and witch hunters will do cheap shut down magic. Can use vet state troop champs and greatsword champs to use the ward for example. I'd say Cathay is far better at casting but empire can defend vs magic for relatively cheap.
>>96105763Iirc from what another anon had previously said, you get 15% discount if you're part of a gaming club, and one anon admitted buying on that place from time to time.
>>96106358One turn of empire cannons can also kill theirs, it's a who shoots first.
You HAVE to lean into shooting them as empire, your infantry are worse, your cav is worse (maybe not demis), your monsters are shit.
Your only advantages are magic and shooting.
>>96106366Cathay isn't better at casting if they are being Miao, if they are they aren't bringing Shugungen and Miao is a dragon most of the time, so only a Lvl 2.
The Mawshard is good but has to get into range (so a balloon) so kill that one balloon first with your own magic (lvl 3 to outrange it) and artillery.

>>96103546I'm torn on this because it's Fimir which is inherently a sign of a fake one, but then I can kind of see how a GW writer would come to this. E.g. with Tomb Guard the writer could want to include Grave Guard as elite wights raised by the Sorcerors but because those are AoS he had to make them Tomb Guard and instead go "Oh yeah some are in Marienburg." But then equally it could just be someone throwing some random shit like that in to make it just crazy enough to be believable.

>>96107968>>96107983We can go back to the previous topic then.
>>96108054I wouldn't mind it at all
>>96108101Kislev would be fine if they just ignored all the jank and focus on the good stuff like their cavalry, kossars, tsar guard and katarin on frost wyrm for the inevitable big monster. Mother Stank with some of her menagerie would be neat as a second wave.
>>96108255>good stuff>frost wyrm
Not sure if this is the right thread (i cant find/remember if there is a dedicated general for warhammer RP) but hey even if it isn't I think its slightly more constructive than faggy culture war discourse about whether the chinese are good or bad.
I wanna find players for a WHRP 4e campaign with the general premise being that players are in charge of a mercenary company in a post-end times old world where Archaeon was just barely defeated. It's been a few decades since and all the major threats to humanity have been repelled (chaos has subsided, the skaven empire got nerfed by lizardmen flooding them etc) but now the Empire has balkanized into dozens of princedoms, warlord states and city states. It'll be very golden age of berserk/the black company/mount and blade themed with a heavy emphasis on progressing "the company" rather than the focus being entirely on PCs, you'll be hex crawling across the world taking on contracts, managing your troops, supplies, munitions, reputation with various factions etc.
Here is our discord if u wanna join!! (inb4 some turbo grog goes on about how they only play by email or IRC channel). If we can get like 5 players together and decide on schedule to run I reckon I could get the game started within a month if I prep my little heart out.

>>96108424That looks better.
>>96108443post models nigger
>>96108308I'll tolerate one frost wyrm if that's what it takes for GW to forget about the giant ice bear, ice guard and ice bear sleds
>>96108456post your character sheet so we can see your obese lesbian gnome oc
okay i know paintscheme questions are stupid but i have a paintscheme question.
miao yings scheme is like black, purple, silver and white, but the main units are mostly teal, steel, and red. is miao just a different color because she's royalty or whatever, or if she was leading the army would it be more appropriate to do the entire army in that black and purple scheme?
>>96108498oh look another culture war faggot shadowboxing with reddit psyops in his head!
>>96108506We don't have much info about the uniforms of cathay, but the dragons have a personal color scheme related to their nature, and the region they supervise doesn't necessarily align with that nature or bedeck themselves in the colours of their region's dragon.
the teal in the studio colour scheme is to evoke jade, which is practically a holy material for cathay and the dragon emperor, symbolising the eternal fortitude of the empire or some shit, same as the symbols on the shields, and that's unrelated to the fact one of the main dragons is known as the jade dragon.
then as far as I understand it, the engineers, gunners and crewmembers of various stuff end up being in guilds that are separate from the normal military body the warriors lancers belong to and which can have their own small heraldry and colours.
and then there's the celestial dragon guard that seems to generally wear yellow.
but these trends in the studio color schemes aren't that set in stone.
>>96108506Meow's goons wear red.
>>96108418This sounds like a great premise for a campaign. If I had more free time I'd sign up
>>96108424That looks fine for a RPG character bit for a wargame unless it's a Isabella proxy very much out of place
>Why did I respond the base is round its never going to be used for warhammer
>>96108506Chink girl looks good.
Dragon looks like a drag queen.
I am looking for an art piece I think is from this same artist.
It depicts a masked chorf lord on a taurus in front of a ziggurat, but I cannot find it for the life of me.
Back in the heydays of chaos dwarfs online I remember it was used for one of the fan made army books.
If anyone remembers what I am talking about I would love to see it again. Sorry for requesting.
>>96108662>Dragon looks like a dragon queenthat's the idea
>>96108665 you sure about the details?
Played a 1k pt beastmen into cult of slaanesh today to break from woodies. Ngl playing beastmen felt way better, I had way more models, hit hard, good Heros, and even more mobility it felt. Rolled nice on EotG even if both my mage and wargor got stupid. I played a pretty even mix of stuff too, but still fucked. Minos, centigor, gor, ungor, tuskgor, I just felt like I could play the game and not try to get my opponent to slip up or pray no bad magic missile would delete my army.
Anyone else get some games in this warhammer Wednesday?
>>96108691Fairly sure. At least that it's a masked dwarf on a taurus.
The guy that made the art work I posted there ran a small website where he sold his own sculpts that looked just like the art I posted.
I think the same guy was the "main army book guy", and he wrote several versions of those army books.
This is why I think it's the same artist. It uses the same orange and black tones as the art we both posted, though I know yours is official from the Tamurkhan.
>>96108717alright, found it here, now the challenge is finding it alone and in good quality
>>96105346Nope
Since you got 3 weapon options in the state troops box you just gave one to thr manaans blades and the other to the state troops
>>96108723YES!! That's the one! It's slightly different from how I remembered it, but that's gotta be it.
Thank you anon.
>>96108659It looks better than the GW options. By a lot. Low/no armor with great for Lahmia. Or any vampire caster. There are heavier armored options out there too.
>>96108629Is there an example of that somewhere without having to buy and install a video game? I didn't see it in the promo schemes
>>96108457But the Ice Bear, Ice Guard and sleds are unironically better.
They should change Light Warsleds to be pulled by horse's so they have a different to heavy warsleds
>>96108757Since you have no models and keep posting coombait the troll is too obvious, even if I agree there are far better vampire models than GW.
>>96108723There's a version under Baggronor

>>96108793The Cathay models GW has painted.
>>96108810Lol gargle more.
>>96108810>using sexyness as a pejorative when the original image has a midriff vampiress >>96102619No consistency.
>>96108830Goddamn it, even they haven't gotten a bigger version to archive.
>BaggronorThat was the guy's name. Man, the website looks way different but this struck me with such a wave of nostalgia.
Thank you for trying anon.
>>96108872Not to mention the low cut boob armor to show cleavage.
>>96108849That's better, looks like a vampire count not generic coombait. And lahmians tend to have some sort of scepter.
Do you have any models? Or are you just a faggot?
>>96106302Right and being unable to field cheap wizards is a liability for defense, even at +1 better to cast, you're about two thirds as likely to get your spells off because of a wizard that costs a third of yours.
>>96108872>>96108893Because of course a functional dress and proper weapons are the same as a pornographic see-through nightgown. Bad faith faggotry again, as expected from GWDS tards.
>>96106814>>96107670How the fuck did these guys reproduce before the Old Ones came and made humans? Did they fuck dinosaurs or something?
It's interesting that this 'leak' has just completely taken over all TOW discussion basically everywhere unlike basically any other leak, real or fake, before.
>>96109862It's speculated their partial infertility is as a result of their pact with the chaos gods, though old lore had them be a post cataclysm race and the result of daemons interbreeding with humans.
>>96113566>It's interesting that this 'leak' has just completely taken over all TOW discussion basically everywhere unlike basically any other leak, real or fake, before. Its not the first time a leak on 4chan, regardless of the board and subject, has spread far and wide. The anonymity of the site ensures this happens regularly. Theres also the language, or culture, of the writing that makes it easy to energize discussions, again typical of 4chan
