I agree with this, but the problem is that they did not balance it properly. It's a fine mechanic at sorcery speed, but none of the stations we got are worth stationing at sorcery speed to get them to turn on. The juice isn't worth the squeeze

Just yesterday I played against someone trying out this thing and it performed disgustingly well. Tutored Machinist's Arsenal with Cloud, cast it, tapped the creature to immediately charge it up to over 20. The only thing the guy needed was many artifacts which isn't hard to achieve. He also had a clock of omens in play, so it was basically gg at that point.

It is one way to make really good use of it, which is the entire point. At base the card is already decently good anyway and the clock of omens just made it go insane. But even without it, the potential ramp is insane. I'm sure other decks can easily reach the 20 counters as well. It's not like it's hard to put power onto the battlefield.

And Morningtide. It was such a beautiful set. It's art reminded me a lot of World of Warcraft. For a pure diverse great artset, the Urza block wins hands down, and it has the best old borders.

I have a confession to make anons.
I've been intentionally playing as a bad faith actor in public games for weeks now.
I built 3 Abzan decks (they're actually all the same deck but with different commanders that are irrelevant to the 99) with the expressed purpose of being as miserable as possible to play against. I then justify it using bad takes from other players and EDH YouTubers like Trinket Mage, doing shit like flickering Elvish Doomsayer 5 times on turn 3 saying I need to do it so the Izzet player (who has not even cast a single cantrip) can't combo off.
I am my own villain, packing every problem card and undesirable archetype I could think of into this deck. The typical play pattern is instakilling one player then deliberately stalling to build a lock for the other two, the main goal being to maximize time players spend not having fun.

For Mox Jasper to be good in EDH that sets the bar far higher. Like "MH6" levels of good.
I use Standard as an example to point out how turn 1 ramp isn't really a big groundbreaking play anymore, and if it costs 2 cards (Mox Jasper and a type), the real lifting would need to be done by the 1-drop being so good it justifies 4 garnets yet being not good enough that you can just cut Mox Jasper.

That's not gonna happen, I have a steady playgroup of friends that been together for other a decade, my only problem with it is that we need new blood to stir up the meta. My girlfriend who has recently started playing has helped but every time I think about going to a LGS to recruit, I'm hit with stories like this and am reminded why the people at an LGS play there: they are scum or scum adjacent and I want nothing to do with them nor do I want to invite them to the host's house, just for them to ruin the night, somehow.

How are you guys received by people at your LGS? It seems the reception I get is either love or hate. The more experienced players tend to come over during my game and see what I've thrown together this week.

Most of the hostility I've gotten has always been from new players or players with a shitter mentality. Someone I podded into recently called my deck "confusing and too much of a headache to understand," and then when I asked when he started, he told me fucking Aetherdrift.

He left in a huff after that game. But his friend in the same pod immediately showed me his own deck and asked for in-depth advice. Because he was similarly new but didn't get fucking salted by losing.

I dissuaded him from some expensive pickups (winmore token doublers like Anointed Procession, pointing out for that $80 he could fine-tune his whole deck to a much higher power level). He took that to heart I think, since he was adding cards mentioned to a Moxfield list for later.
