Cavalier comes from the French "chevalier" which literally means "horseman" (horse is "cheval").

Slavs were mindbroken by Napoleon into frenchaboo'ing for a century so that meaning definitely comes from romanticizing French knights.

There's been references to the cartoons since Baldur's Gate. They even got weapon stats in 3.5
>Hank's Bow: +2 composite bow that never runs out of ammo, does 2d6 force damage, and can power attack without a feat.
>Eric's Bow: +2 bashing heavy steel shield that can be wielded 2-handed. As an immediate action, the wielder can create a Resilient Sphere effect centered on themselves for 5 rounds a day.
>Diana's Staff: +2 ki strike quarterstaff that turns into a +2 ki strike javelin when thrown. Can grow and shrink in size (from 1 inch to 20 feet), grants a +5 on Jump checks, and free trip effects when it successfully hits.
>Sheila's Cloak: 5 times a day, you can cast invisibility on yourself. 2 time a day, greater invisibility.
>Bobby's Club: +2 greatclub that gives +4 strength. Three times a day, can cause a 30-foot earthquake in a line that causes anyone to make a reflex save or fall prone.
>Presto's Hat: Oh boy. It's a Rod of Wonder, first of all. But it can produce any spell component up to 1000g in value for a round. It automatically empowers any spell you cast with no increase in spell slot level used. It can be used to cast any spell in your spellbook in place of the ones you memorized. The downside? If you use either of the latter two effects, there is a 1/3 chance the spell is wasted and you get the Rod of Wonder effect, a 1/3 chance it works, and a 1/3 chance that it works and you get the effect.

I was gonna say you're wrong but the more I think about it the less sure I am of your meaning.
Latin America was popular hiding place during WW2, meaning the people who didn't like the axis. That's why Argentina has the second highest jewish diaspora and most of the region had a boom in unionization during the 40's. The japanese expats started returning during the late 70's, when the US stopped being in full control and the country still didn't return to the imperial mode. Some of their stories are the basis for the civilians in the first part of the original Gundam.

>>96124048
>It's weird because...why? Why Brazil?
Mass industrialization in the Meiji period meant rural Japan was massively impoverished and the cities were overcrowded with none of the modern amenities, so emigration was popular. Brazil had a booming agriculture industry and the first major wave of Japanese came over after WW1 to work on coffee plantations, who desperately needed more workers because their main labour source at the time, Italians, were cut off by the Italian government. Additionally, this was in the time period when most western countries, including the US, were greatly limiting the amount of immigration from Asian countries. Over time the growth of the Japanese population in Brazil reached critical mass, allowing them to form specifically self-sustaining Japanese-Brazilian communities, and starting in the 60s started becoming more urban than rural.

Hasbro is currently falling apart and one of the only parts that is actually profitable is WotC. After the surge caused by Covid in 2020~2021, they decided to turn D&D into a lifestyle brand and started doing a weird mix of nostalgia baiting and virtue signaling. Both the only D&D toyline and cartoon got a lot of references as part of the 5.5e d campaign.

It was a small show with only 30ish episodes over three seasons. But it was on CBS saturday morning which meant a a lot of fucking eyeballs on it. But dnd had this and it's fun little toyline but TSR itself was sinking. It had capped out it's market at the time, was constantly being forced to shed employees and reorganize because gygax and the blumes sucked ass at managing a business and gygax brought in a ringer for investing who immediately saw the shit, didn't want to waste her money and bought out the blumes for control. It's not just the cartoon itself, which is fun enough as it was because the Reagans hadn't fucked cartoons completely yet. But the whole shitshow that was TSR and it's properties from 1981-86.

I am 90 percent sure that happens one. They introduce the newest action figures, or rather recruits to the GI joe team and immediately get a one two from Storm shadow and fucking Destro.

Reagan enabled action cartoons by changing the rules so a Cartoon could be one big advertisement for a toy line as long as it 1. Had decent heroic moral messaging, and 2. The company didn't DIRECTLY run the ads showing they products themselves and where to buy them during the commercial breaks.

Ah okay I was trying to remember where that PSA stuff came in I though it was him. I also thought the dereg started earlier. but he was both. Do you remember if it was it Nancy or Barbara that pushed the minimum educational time limit?

And then in the 90s they decided all network stations had to have a minimum amount of educational content and cartoons didn't qualify, so everyone ditched cool action cartoons for dirt cheap newsmagazine shows for teenagers.

Reagan is the reason why so many 80's cartoons were toy commercials.
>am i going to become a liberal?
I think anyone but the most kool-aid(tm) drinking lolbert can understand that maybe kids shouldn't be advertised sugary poison 24/7. And a lot of toy-commercial shows were slop, but we can't be totally anti-fun either, there's some good toy commercial shows. Gundam is literally one. And all He-Man did was take just take Thundarr the Barbarian, make it gayer, and give it some toys.

Weird way to spell "Ronald Reagan and the late-stage Cold War"
It never stops to baffle me how much people are unable to wrap their heads nowadays just how all the cold war bullshit affected things and the most exotic alliances. And how bad it all ended up in the long run.

While there were many WW2 Axis refugees in Brazil and in other South American countries, the large Japanese migration in question happened before all of that at the beginning of the century.

I guess you're right, I hadn't paid attention to the commas that define the ranking with Japan being number 1 (having understood before that 'outside of Japan' was not included in ranks 1 and 2).
