I can use Force and Ice to subtly manipulate things in a way that looks like luck - a push here, a patch of slippery ice there. I can also just directly abuse luck. This provides good cover for my evil luck manipulation.
I can use Sonic to directly attack things as well, though this might be less mana efficient. Sonic is maybe the best school for large scale AoE, since you can attack selectively.

A brothel system is not something you get for free just by spending a point on concubine. In addition you have to pay in logistic mess of supplying your armies with brothels, essence cost for any concubines, and the time your minions waste at brothels (which is probably a reason to prefer less expensive and less attractive options than concubines).

Concubines are also talented servants, and have charm magic which could also help with discipline. Have them work as staff/supply officers under Strategos to handle logistics while also going about and keeping your troops under control. You're going to need people handling logistics anyway, and Concubines work as well in that role as any unit. They might be the best logistics unit actually, as that seems to be a role that is lacking in the unit selection. I suppose one could instead use Peons for logistics, but they don't strike me as 'officer' material, so much as basic ditch diggers.

It depends on the person. Overt Lord would be a hell of a lot worse for a Deceiver Manipulator, than for a Titan with Indomitable. That said Deadline would also be pretty bad for Deceivers in general, as do a lot of the drawbacks, as the tendency of the drawbacks is for open conflict and rapid conquest. There doesn't seem to be many drawbacks suitable for a slow shadow conquest. In general I would say Deadline is worse, as losing several thousand years is likely to be more of an issue for most builds than being unable to conceal yourself.

I don't even really know how to properly play devil's advocate for Deadline, Expiration Date, Zealotry, and particularly Contentious. Outside of trying to make a build entirely around mitigating the issues. I could see Deadline working out, depending on exactly how many enemies there are, but it relies upon that unknown, and so at best it is risky. Expiration Date I can only really see working with a Deceiver or Shadow build where you keep yourself hidden and just make nests everywhere that later erupt after you have already left the area to set up the next set of nests to force the forces of he goddesses into an endless game of whac-a-mole. However that's more of a mid game strategy, and doesn't seem like it has decisive power to actually finish the job, unless the goddesses are way more susceptible to rage quitting than I would expect.

Zealotry I can only see working on a Deceiver Manipulator build where you are challenging the religion to convert all of the followers of the goddesses, or otherwise going all in on the Dark Gods. Which is so far away from my playstyle that I don't think I can even properly evaluate it.

I feel the drawback is kind of weird. As there doesn't seem to be any reason you can't just tie all your forces to yourself, and then you lose all your forces when you get killed, but aren't affected by the lose of individual units. However if it means that the commander they are tied to has to be the one giving them orders, the enemy could easily learn of the weakness of your army and focus on taking out those commanders. Either way it's kind of an all or nothing strategy and makes it so that when you lose, you lose hard. However there does seem to be strong counter play if you are able to just keep your commanders out of battle entirely. I'd say it works well with Subterranean, Dungeon Core, and Scrying, but it is a notable, and extreme, weak point.

Maybe I’m an idiot, but it seems like the way your aptitude is presented conflicts with itself. When spending aptitude points on magic, it seems like you’re defining your upper limit. However, the cyoa makes it clear that isn’t really the case, you can go beyond that. Additionally, the lore for allies indicates on can learn and grow beyond your aptitude. So if I only put one point into Spirit, for example, am I to assume I’m capped out and will only grow to a novice level at max? Or am I to understand that’s more of a guideline and you can grow beyond that level, perhaps in unique ways?

No it is legit inconsistent. It seems like we can only EVER reach two specialities (one light one dark) and maybe a mastery or two but then there are all those vague references and even choices about growing beyond your initial level. In reference to specialties my head cannon is that the removal of the limiters allows for reaching beyond specialty level in your specialties only and that the myrmidons achieved more than two specialities as a result of being locked into the light side. I agree with that anon who says that tech is OP and I suspect most of the mimic the corpo magic fluff is in regards to a technomancer who copies every ones powers.

I was kind of looking at it as literal aptitude, your natural talent and learning rate for each school. So you can start as having novice flora, but if you live long enough and actually try to can become a bootleg adept or master. Specializations, I think, would be the exception.

Yes, MiCha added a new section, five new traits, five new drawbacks, ten new units, and a new region, and edited some of the formatting. He also rebalanced the unit costs so that elite units cost more to unlock and nerfed the Elitism drawback to remove Peons, which has angered many anons. The last four threads have had around 100 posts in total complaining about it.

Yea we start at novice in even our specialties so learning rate matters a bit (still 5 years isn't bad). If we can eventually upgrade a novice to a master then it is better to spread our points around to unlock more potential but if it is a hard cap I want mastery. Even if we say that we can only go up one level with the exception of specialties then masteries are still a waste as specialty is locked out but you could reach mastery. It really depends. If we just limit it to learning ritual magic that is another thing entirely.
