I don't think it's over? We're still missing a couple of cards.
>>96117097 (OP)This set is so trash is unreal Station is an absolute skip the only thing I look forward to try to make work is Tezzechad

i didn't need to spend wildcards on this standard deck. is it good enough of a base for post rotation? the only card that's really leaving here are the sheoldreds, but the deck has a serious life loss issue that losing sheoldred makes it rough to run the dark confidants.
also the jenovas are not very good for 4 drops and i'm concerned eoe won't have any good cards for bg.
is the spoiler season over?
>>96117163STATION is ass I bet you in one month all the people talking shit about EoE will be here crying about Warp cards
If Aliexpress is advertising 90% off Dragon Shield sleeves on sale for like $1 a box... that's a scam, right?
>>96117180depends on whether arcane tinman has manufacturing operations in china. i'd err on yes but third shift manufacturing has happened before.

Etali + Adventure lands is broken on Arena
lets you cast all the adventure lands you exile
etali says
>When Etali enters, each player exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a nonland card. You may cast any number of spells from among the nonland cards exiled this way without paying their mana costs.
You get to cast any number of spells from among the CARDS exiled this way

Why do retards on this site and elsewhere think that being the most played deck means that it's somehow the strongest deck? If anything, it's mostly just retards who never make it to top8 who think that playing a deck that once made it to top8 means they'll make it there somehow because this time the deck is finally going to do everything for them.
>>96118052lol we both have good starts
I came back in the mid game

>>96118119Because other TCGs changed their rules and card design to assist the player going second with more resource access and removal tools, while Mark still has his head up his ass thinking Murder and Cancel are appropriate removal for Ocelot Pride and Heartfire Hero.
>>96118162he still gets 3x 2/2 tokens, are you going to stabilize somehow
or do you already have 8 mana on board and can cast ardyn
you cropped your lands
>>96118119Two things are the problem:
>threats that snowball>faster threatsThe faster a game goes, the less turns of back and forth, the less decision making, the less chance for mana to equalize. This is extremely obvious when you look at total mana pips available to both players based on turn advantage, and especially as players start to miss land drops
say both players stop at 4 mana, it goes:
>1 vs 0 (infinite advantage)>3 vs 1 (200%)>6 vs 3 (100%)>10 vs 6 (67%)>14 vs 10 (40%)>18 vs 14 (28%)The other issue is just playing out cards that create threats that must be dealt with reactively, but create snowballing advantage each turn they stay on the battlefield. Every 2-3 mana creature now and even heartfire hero at 1 mana were giving increasing threat every turn they stay out. You can't stabilize by just playing an equal or bigger creature and blocking
The OG of this and most distilled, if not most offensive, example, is luminarch aspirant
Opponent has turn 2 luminarch, you have turn 2 luminarch? You fucking lose. You can never block, you never grow out of range of their cards, you're always behind. They have turn 2 luminarch, you play a 2/2 on your turn 2? They will attack through it with a 3/3 luminarch
Now its threats spraying card advantage, +1/+1 counters from landfall, recursion, attack triggers ,etc.
>>96117971>new border cards>premodern playersRetard.
>>96118204Anon can sac a rod to treachery and just cast ardyn from the treasures. Stealing the saga will almost definitely stabilize, just need a window where they can't use pandora before ardyn triggers.

Also Crumbling Vestige is not on arena. So you can't play this deck in the 100% competitive compatible Arena client.
I can't stop thinking about this dumbass card. The only reason I could see WotC making it read this way is because they intend for some sort of creature-dump/infinite token bullshit that lets you station it immediately and give everything else haste so that they can attack immediately, but that begs the question, what combo did they see filling that spot?

>>96120422This just has always been the thing, only handful of creatures been 'definitive' for each rotation of standard. Spells will always be the king.
>>96120398For creatures/threats the biggest two inputs is
1. How easy are they to deal with
2. How easy are they to put into play
3. What are they competing with
Magic is a game with relatively low life totals, a 2/2 is a faster clock than you think when a lot of turns can be stumbling or fumbling, big stats with sneakily high cost (lots of colored pips) isn't viable and hasn't been ever because of how good multicolor decks are.
but do complain about powercreep because cards that haven't been good since sharts of alara and earlier, still aren't good.

Alright gentlemen. I'm switching to Premodern and Pauper. They both seem to have the most balanced formats. Though there's a lot of midrange and aggro in Pauper, Control still wins big tournaments so it's more balanced than the other formats.

>>96124803golden packs give cards from legal sets at the time you open them, not when you got them.
but they give cards from all standard legal sets so they are only a little bit watered down by stinkers being released
you should open them NOW even though they can contain rotating cards, because at least they won't contain EoE cards
golden packs contain
>1 mythic rare>5 rares which have 1/8 chance to replace with mythic rare>no wildcards>2 of the 6 cards will be from the latest set (FIN now, EOE after release)>4 cards will roll randomly from all standard legal sets, equal chance of each set>chooses card rarity first (rare/mythic) and then chooses set, and if you have 100% completion in that set it will keep choosing another different set for same rarity, and if you have 100% completion of all sets of that rarity it will give you gemsso right now its 2 FIN cards and 4 cards where 5/16 will rotate, granted there's a 1/16 chance on each you'll get worthless DFT cards
after EOE launches it will be 2 EOE cards and 4 cards from 12 legal sets, with 2/12 chance to be either DFT or EOE cards
expected value of non-EOE/DFT standard legal cards:
>now: 4.75 (2x FIN + 2.75x standard legal non-EOE/DFT)>later: 3.33 (2x worthless EOE + 3.33x standard legal non-EOE/DFT)

Is there a set that could be drafted into a multiplayer table well? Ive drafted the last couple of sets with 3 friends and played a 4 player FFA each time. We've had fun, but the sets clearly aren't designed for multiplayer in mind. EDH isn't a good solution because we enjoy the drafting aspect. EDH draft seems very cumbersome and restrictive. I'm building a few decks, they don't necessarily need to be 'good' but rather all roughly equivalent. One thing I really don't want is for anyone playing them to be mana-screwed, so seems sensible to stick with 24 for now.
>>96130631This is a great reference, but should have an addendum that filtering impacts how much lands you run.
Phoenix, for example, always wants to hit both its 3rd and 4th land drops, but can run 18 lands comfortably because 80% of the deck is just Opt clones.
>>96130745>One thing I really don't want is for anyone playing them to be mana-screwedInclude filtering then. Reliable card selection solves mana screws/floods FAR better than land count.

>>96130715WotC realized no one liked it and pulled all tournament support
It's just a niche format for Arena players to farm dailies with RDW
>>96130715>So is Pioneer just dead?Yes. It's basically abandonware at this point. It hasn't been maintained for over a year and every B&R announcement, the format's lucky if it gets a hand wave at why nothing is getting banned.

>>96130799>Wildgrowth Walker is the half of the combo where removing it ruins nothing, while leaving Amalia, the far more interesting card, to interact with interesting lifegain brews and other shit the format over.>But WotC bans Amalia because it's a white card, and they MUST take EVERY chance they get to ban a white card. No exceptions.Just WotC things.
>>96130735Makes more sense. Itโs a fun deck to see go off turn 2. Think itโs up for a ban or is they par for the course in modern now?

Also, Training Grounds is better.
>>96130939>Mono-blue land rampoh yeah baby
Quick question boys, I just want to see if my gut instinct is right on this card.
If I use its ability, it brings a white, red or red and white card out for free from the deck, but if it's a tier spell like, say, Restoration Magic, I'd need to pay the additional cost if I wanted to use a higher tier, it's only the initial cost that's covered, yeah?
>>96130954Paying 4 for rampant growth isn't great though.
>>96130973>isn't greatStill mono-blue.
>>96130957Correct. X would also be zero unless it's part of an additional cost you can actually pay like kicker/spree/tier.
>>96130978Oh no, every color has bad land ramp now.
2025 was an awful year for Magic, but at least it is over.
>>96131052Cool, thanks for clearing that up. That's still seems really good to have in a pinch
>>96130841It's been a top tier deck for over a decade straight, they're pretty set on not banning it (which is why it's the only Modern deck I play in paper).
It's probably the second best deck in the format after Energy (it's always had a winning matchup vs Energy, so it's been one of the strongest things to do in the format for most of post-MH3 Modern) but Modern has 10+ viable decks and nothing is too oppressive.
Amulet crushes creature decks and hates control and faster combos.
Amulet is weak to blue decks playing counterspells (which no one wants to play), specific sideboard cards (which no one wants to run), and learning how the deck works (which no one wants to do).
>>96130922great common to tie together station + lander synergies.
if this is good then the format won't be so bad after all.
>>96131269Yeah just seeing it play looks like for counter spells you need a lot and cheap in your opening hand due to how fast it can pop off, not even sure thatโs possible with how tight blue mana is on turn 2 and a lack of free counter spells. Blood moon looks like it crushes titan, a pithing needle or graveyard hate could do as well
Vivi and Cecil really need a standard ban.
>>96131414Heheh
>anon thinks collab content is even in the running for bannable. The amount of outrage from UB crowd and FF fans woulf be legendary, let alone squeenixโs appeasement for future collabs.
>>96131408Amulet only goes off turn 2 with double Amulet hands, which aren't too common.
It is very resilient for a combo deck though.
There are several blue decks that you can play if you never want to lose to Amulet.
A local UB Frog player packs Counterspell and Subtlety in the main and boards in sets of Flood Moon and Ashiok (the absolute strongest Amulet hoser). Have to pray to dodge that guy.
Belcher dumpsters Amulet even harder than that.
Then there are shitty meme decks like Merfolk that can't possibly lose the matchup.
>>96131436It's so sad that so many retards will get angry on the behalf of multibillion dollar corporations when the thought of bans to fix a game are brought up.
>>96131414Ban Cecil, a card that UB decks run 0-2 copies of.
Great idea.
i hate spacecraft so much
they're almost as bad as battles
How easy is it to get copies of specific cards for free from MTGO bots?
some of the Pauper/Premodern decks I'm looking at (formats you need MTGO to play) are full of cards that cost like 0.01-0.03 tix and I've heard trade bots just give stuff like that away.
thinking of signing up for MTGO to try those formats
>>96131564Yes. Just like Black Lotus would ruin standard if it were make legal but just restricted to 1 copy per deck, Cecil is currently ruining standard in spite of only running 2-3 copies when it is ran. A 2/3 for one mana with death-touch and a "drawback" ability that triggers a flip into a 4/4 with lifeline and make all other creatures indestructible is a creature that's way too strong the game.
MTG's rules are designed with small creatures in mind. Prior to 2003, something like Cecil would be 3-4 mana because that would be the only way to really balance him with respect to the rules.
>>96131601>How easy is it to get copies of specific cards for free from MTGO bots?the process is pretty simple, you just find a freebot, click trade and get the cards you want
but you're gonna need to repeat that process a lot because:
- not every bot has the cards you want
- not every bot is available at the time you want
- there's a lot of bots to manually check
>>96124477Nigger. This is the original printing. I don't care about these retroframe reprint to sell packs that came out in the last few even if I prefer the older frames.
>>96124789FIN is a stinker set
>>96131617most of the winning lists are on 0 copies, retard
some run 2 max
banning it would change nothing about the format. it wouldn't even stop your whiny retard self from crying on social media when you lose, you'd just move on to the next thing to soil yourself over as soon as you could
tfw 0-15 streak in draft
i dont fucking get it my WR was 72% for the first month
>>96132049>most of the winning lists are on 0 copiesAHEM. Pretty much every Dimir Midrange/Tempo deck in standard is running it. And if we think about actual aggro decks that don't show up on TOP8 because they aren't played in MTGO events or big tournaments, then we have a lot of cecil decks.
>banning it would change nothing about the format.Which is why I also want to ban Vivi and several other cards. The vast majority of creature cards in standard need a ban since the vast majority of them have been powercrept far beyond what the rules of MTG were designed for. It just happens to be that Cecil and Vivi are way too low mana cost considering what they do.
Literally what is the point of this card?
Like yeah, this is probably the one I want to play with the most, in Pioneer Slivers, but it's a Standard set. There's zero (0) slivers in this set, and in the format.

>>96132583Once they got rid of blocks it was writing on the wall for stuff like this. Cohesive block builds are gone for good, now we get overturned cards that just work wherever you want no packaging required, and a bunch of bulk for-fun (commander) cards
>>96132130People have "figured out" the format so the average deck is way more optimised compared to the first month. Plus with EoE next week casuals are probably saving up or taking a break leaving die hard drafters as the main people playing limited right now
>>96132191>slivers you control>slivers you control>slivers you control>slivers you controlhello I hate wotc
Vivi's main use being get his soul fed to the cauldron to pass his ability on is both a flavor win and also pretty sad
>>96132130quickdraft is unplayable if that's what you're playing
also being on the play, if you have an optimized UR deck, is basically unlosable so if you're losing dice rolls there's that
>>96132595I am, apparently, so. I just can't understand why my games are so volatile.
>>96133266BO1 yeah. My decks are quite fun and bombish but it feels like everything goes south from turn 2 even when i have quite curve.

why is the satin tower so fucking hard to open? just got one for my double sleeved modern deck and it's a real pain in the ass to use
Hear me out
Run 4 copies of this instead of counterspells or protection spells in a Kona omni list once EoE releases
Its both a janky control spell to slow down aggro and protects your kona as long as its on the board, opponent should have no way to remove kona at instant speed other than edicts OR if they have authority of the consuls so they can get priority while the etb trigger is on the stack
It would go like this;
>Have Lost in the Maze on the battlefield
>Cast Kona, preferably with Cavern of Souls so he's uncounterable
>Get priority when he enters because I'm active player
>Station my planet with Kona
>Opponent gets priority with station trigger on the stack, but Kona is now tapped and hexproof
>2nd Main phase, Kona puts omni onto the battlefield
Saddest thing is that afaik there's no way to go turn 3 kona with t2 lost in the maze and still have a tapped planet. If you go turn 1 shockland llanowar elf, turn 2 planet, you have {UG} on turn 2 but not {UU}. You can still win on turn 4 with protection, and use turn 3 to tap down an opponent's creature, or 2 creatures if an elf sticks
Damn, I remember when boosters were $200, what happened?
>>96133647I just posted this and realized authority of the consuls doesn't fucking matter either, herp a derp
