How do AL play in 3.0, anons? Armilus Dynat no longer gives alternative deployment to 3 units, and those units no longer bring their own dedicated transports. So no more Paramar 2.0 outflanking armoured assault, now he just infiltrates a non-Bulky thing :(
Saboteurs are restricted to using a power knife and no more combi-melta. I don't know if a meltabomb can destroy a tank in one go, which is what everyone told me Saboteurs were for.
What I do believe is power knives are +2i so you attack first in duels...but Saboteurs cannot engage in them because they're neither Commanders or (Master) Sergeants, they are Specialists.
And now that knives cost you a weapon, I don't see Lernean sarges taking them. Or Headhunters charging either. Rip their combos too Multi-melta snipers hehehe

IDK if the anon is here, but many moons ago the idea was being tossed around for Traitor UM, and i threw out the idea of making them all look like Visigoths and various Germanic tribes. With the idea being that they were like the Roman solider that were basically foreign legions that did not have any real tie to Rome so like a lot of their armor was not upkept all the time.

Cheap veteran assault squads with chain axes actually seem like decent tactical/despoiler killers.
They don't break the bank like TH vets, but are still pretty damn decent against their intended targets and so will likely get their Vanguard (3) scoring points.

Regardless, I think you get a lot of unit for 278 points. Fast, 20 WS5 wounds so pretty resistant in melee against almost everything. They could be a real pain to deal with, and are exceptionally dangerous to the lone 10/20 man tactical squad on a back line or side objective, something that can be a game-clinching difference with their Vanguard (3)

Even if they're all attacking with i-1 weapons, going into a 20 man tactical squad they'll only take 1 wound on average, and then kill 5 tacticals in return winning the combat by a *lot*, giving you a very reliable routed status on the enemy and triggering your vanguard (3).

Tacticals are good, but they're more vulnerable in melee than ever in 3.0. I think despoilers may still end up being the more popular choice, because they're still Line (2), but are more threatening to melee units trying to get them and with a master sergeant they can have a little bite.
Master sergeant on tacticals just seems like a waste, you only get 2A where a despoiler sarge would get 3A.

Tactics got +50% ranged damage when camping an objective. Despoilers lost an attack, shred and spite of the legion. I doubt anyone is going to take despoilers just to sit them in an objective. With rhinos more expensive you might as well take assault marines if you want that profile
