TQ: How do we make sure that we donโt get outrageously faggot OPs like last thread >> 96114370
>>96121260 (OP)>TQno idea, cause it just happened again
>>96121198bracket 2 has several cathegories:
>C: precon and shitpiles that belong in bracket 1, but for some arbitrary reason retards demand them to be bracket 2>B: upgraded precons and budget decks>A: mechanically focused decks in the price range of several hundred $ that can effectively compete in bracket 3
I love this lil nigga like you wouldn't believe
>>96121313>I can compete with 3s but I wanna play with 2sSo you're a pubstomper? Is this supposed to bolster your position?
What's your favorite dual color deck?
>Commander didn't come in the mail today even though I ordered it back on the 5th
Standard USPS was a mistake
>>96121346No, I'm pointing out the flaws of the bracket system. If a bracket 2 deck can absolutely destroy bad deck builders like you, then you should not try to argue what belongs in which bracket. Instead, you should apply the old power level metric:
>How many turns before your deck usually wins if not interrupted? It gives newbies and people like you a realistic chance to figure out which pod to join, instead of just screaming
>"AIEEEE THIS IS BRACKET 2 HOW CAN HE SLAP???"And before you come at me with "I don't play in pods I have friends", then why are you even attempting to have a word in this discussion?

>>96114370>>96121410Last mail strike here in Canada I had three decks sitting in limbo because those lazy fucks at the post office went on strike the literal day the package was supposed to arrive so it just sat in my local post office for weeks. Now it takes even longer because they're on strike again. And I can guarantee you they're gonna Shocked Pikachu face when everyone just says fuck it and shifts away from them.
>>96121368I have enjoyed mycotyrant a lot, just make a ton of tiny 1/1 dudes that makes your commander a huge dude, while you get to play around with your graveyard
>>96121483At least your cards will actually arrive. I just had a Diabolic Intent arrive (building an aristoc"rat" Totentanz and it seemed like a thematic tutor), but it was actually a literal paper photocopy slipping inside a sleeve with a real Island. It's so stupid and obvious I have to believe it's a resell and the seller got duped - but then how the fuck did they not notice when packaging it?
First time anything like this has happened. Contacted CardMarket for a resolution but no idea when/if they will respond.
>>96121410TCGPlayer delayed my order, then when I got it three cards were missing. Had to reorder them but at least they refunded me the price of the cards and gave me some store credit, I guess.
Built my terra deck, enduring enchantments came in.

Is anyone else addicted to cheating? I just like 8 card opening hands because I just want more lands
can I pay the {4} the the treasures the titanic creatures after an attack?
>deal combat damage with titanic
>sac titanic and create 7 treasures
>sac 4 treasure to activate nim deathmantle ability
>>96121618I peak at my top card all the time. I've tried my best to stop, but I just can't. As far as cheating goes its on the low end, but cheating is cheating
reposting because I'm too tired to form coherent sentences
can I pay the {4} from nim deathmantle's ability with the treasures the titanic creates after an attack?
>deal combat damage with titanic
>sac titanic and create 7 treasures
>sac 4 treasure to activate nim deathmantle ability
>>96121632Titanic and the treasures are created at the same time (because of the word "and" rather than "then"), so the treasures don't exist 'when' the titanic enters the graveyard since it happens at the same time, before the treasures exist and can be spent.
>>96121632"sacrifice it and create that many treasure tokens" happens at once, so the treasures will be on the battlefield when deathmantle triggers, yes.
>>96121618no, I never cheat, but I'm sometimes so lucky I feel guilty.
friend suffers from the same feelings, he once mulligan'd three times because he kept drawing bolas' citadel and sol ring (after he just won a game with the citadel), despite everyone urging him to just keep the hand and play.
>>96121583Yeah, which is why I believe that the seller was just in a rush/complacent/doesn't care enough and didn't realise that he himself had been fucked over.
Like those old stories of rental dvds being returned with paper photocopies in them.
>>96121660This card is great I only wish it wasn't 40k exclusive, might have to look for a proxy
>>96121368She's my favorite deck period
>>96121645Ya probably you make the treasures as he goes to the graveyard, they resolve ultimately before hes actually in the graveyard in an interactible way (outside of replacement effects)
>titanic triggers>it resolves, making you treasures and putting him on graveyard>nims triggers upon seeing him put into graveyard and you have treasures to use as the titanic ability resolved
>>96121697>Titanic is sac'd and makes its treasures since they happen at the same time>Then the equipment triggers>You have your treasuresFirst anon was correct
>>96121643Just make a subpar commander deck that allows you to cheat
>>96121705>>96121715of the two first people answering his question, I'm correct. (you can tell which one I am because they give different answers and of the two I'm the correct one.)
>>96121368It's a tie between the Shadow Wizard Money Gang and General Ferrous Rokiric's multi-color cards only deck but both are really for for me to play.
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>96121645You should be able to. The only weird part is that when it returns it wouldn't be a creature since it's a vehicle so you'd have to pay equip costs again later.

>>96121988There's nothing schizophrenic about loving Loot! I was super hyped ever since he appeared in OTJ! I'm so glad WotC is finding the space to put Loot in every set, even when we go to boring theme planes like that gay dragon world.

>>96122009>>96122020>>96122015>>96122009There's nothing wrong with ability doublers. As an ulalek enjoyer, I routinely bring my ipad and wireframe the stack and exponentially make infinite ability triggers
>>96122100>There's nothing wrong with ability doublersThen you don't mind me using this Fox to double the Jolly Ballon Man's ability...do you?
>>96121960Post deck, I don't believe you
>>96122195How does that double his ability?
>>96122195>>96122231because token doublers cant even bring the right tokens, much less read or perform basic math

>>96121750I didn't expect my post to cause such controversy. My deck doesn't even have token doublers, instead it's based around small utility creatures and combat/etb effects until I can summon something bigger like pic related and get his tokens on the board.
I don't ever run doublers because I see them as win more and too expensive
>>96122521shut up token bitch
>>96121989but anon doubling every set is peak design!
>>96122390Again it's not as simple as "permanents out of the GY" because this could be something as simple as "Clear the Mind" or something as specific as Scrap Trawler.

B: be able to separate discussion about a specific card from any other card
III: be able to generate its own evaluation in terms of the game as a whole
d: have any incorporated knowledge of the game at all

you are equivalent to that child on reddit who asked chatgpt for a walkthrough of a resident evil game then couldn't figure out why it was telling him to look for something that didn't exist.
it does not know anything about mtg. at best it can shove words together that it knows are categorized as being near mtg lexically. you are lucky it made a coherent evaluation of (nonexistent) game mechanics.
>>96122574lol reminds me of that time I asked one to give me a fast deck and it insisted on putting a glistener elf in it to "be a removal magnet" while the rest was just burn
>>96122837some can but you have to be very specific with the wording how to search. it's like an evil genie version of google granting twisted wishes, you just have to know how to prompt and not be an idiot
>>96123080>lol reminds me of that time I asked one to give me a fast deckall I asked was which commanders users are talking about when they are talking about resilient commander decks. the results were okay but then disa out of nowhere.
Ok so what are staples for Commander decks? Mana dorks, fetch lands, mana rocks, good color specific cards (dark rit, etc)? Iโm wondering about cards that should go in a deck despite the theme.
I feel like this is the absolute worst string of sets Magic has ever endured, and I say that having played through Masques + Invasion block which were notoriously low-powered. Detectives, Cowboys, member the 80s lmao, core set outta nowhere and vroom vroom. Bloomburrow felt like the most magicy set out of all of them, which is weird.

What is, objectively, the most profitable game mode for Wizards, outside of Standard?
I've recently been listening to Amon Amarth's discography (in release order, of course) and I kinda now want to make a deck themed, at least visually, around vikings. Unfortunately the best commanders I can find are from the Assassins' Creed set, all the Naya ones.
>>96124871Commander, duh.
>>96124876I will never not be mad that they appropriated my culture with kaldheim, thing that would never happen the other way around to other culture influenced sets
>>96124759Nah let that nigga push, AI tiddies over UB slop any day.
>>96124246Mostly chill people. There's a couple of tryhards but everyone is usually pretty chill. Only store woth no paid entry either.
Most of the other game stores are paid entry and put packs on the line in some way, which leads to cEDH decks and environment with non-cEDH mindsets. That is where the real cancer is.
>>96124701 I don't understand your spoiler
I haven't purchased a single card since Bloomburrow
>>96124871Draft is 12-24 packs sold for every event, thank god. I hope they never stop designing for limited since it's objectively the best format. Although with signposts and samey two color archetypes I feel they are close to "solving" designing limited formats, which makes them more boring and standardized. Sadly as of ROE they learned that unique and challenging limited formats scare away new players so we are cursed with the Innistrad model for every set, with varying degrees of success.
However Commander supports multiple business models that draft does not. Direct to consumer secret lairs, commander decks, and other special products are stronger when commander related. Plus the fact that Commander is where most of the players are, Wizards is just meeting the players on their own turf by selling towards them.
>brew titanic bracket 2 on a <$200 budget for a few days now

>>96125453>>96125467You should try it anons, limited is the best format. MTG Arena is right over there, if you're good you can farm free limited games without even leaving your cuck cave
>>96125472>Beautiful >AI sloppa
>>96125473stax helps a lot in voltron to not get focused down early
>>96125439It's 100% correct though, especially given that limited carries both of the digital platforms, and most assume they account for 30-30% of revenue.
>>96125490>draft chaffStandard, at its best, is a combination of the best block constructed decks.
Without draft, singles would be the ONLY market, and WotC would be free to happily print unique objectively powerful cards straight to secret lair. and Magic would reach its final stage of "pay to play"
The only exception would be tiny lootboxes, packs as as small as the AssCreed set, with golden chocobos and nothing else of value. Not even commons for the other best format, pauper.
>>96125521Limited makes money, obviously. But having no appreciation for "draft chaff" instantly tells me anon does not play the best format.
>>96125493The best part about limited is how easy it is to cheat.
Because the packs are open for the first time by you, there's a level of disparity and randomness that nobody can really dispute.
So this can't be done during the pre-release but it can be done on any subsequent events.
Simply show up with some limited bombs in your pocket already sleeved, and slip them into the deck that you build.
I'm not talking about rares or mythics, oftentimes in limited the most important cards are your Commons and uncommons, but very specific ones. So read up on the meta beforehand and have a good idea of what cards you want to bring and what Archtype you want to play.
It's basically impossible for you to ever get caught because of the modern composition of the playbooster, and also because in order to catch you they would have to deck check literally everyone and do some sort of tally of how many cards are present, as well as the cards people choose not to include in their decks and even then they can reach a wrong number because the play booster bonus cards mean there can be extra Commons uncommons or even rares and mythics.
So there's an extremely low possibility of you ever getting caught unless someone catches you in the sleight of hand when you slip the cards that you already own into your limited deck, and even then you have plausible deniability as long as they are sleeved appropriately.
Have fun in limited anons!
>>96125580I like limited, but draft chaff is what it is, only useful in its format. No constructed format is going to look at a card that has 10+ strictly better options. If there wasnโt a place for these shitty cards like draft they wouldnโt get printed at all. Which might arguably be better if mtg only made cards intended for standard+ play
>>96125584>implying every limited format is bomb dependent>implying this type of player isn't quickly found out and sent to his next shop to get kicked out ofNot a limited player
Unironically, new players of /edhg/ go to a limited event. Go to many. It makes you better at card evaluation, and a better player overall. Three weeks of drafts and you will see your commander decks in a whole new light.
>>96125613The alternative is that the pack has N fewer cards, where N is the number of draft chaff cards. No, the booster pack is not cheaper. This is WotC we're talking about.
>>96125646I look at modern horizons sets as inspiration for draft-chaff-less packs. All of the cards made there tend to be strong enough to be played and they should if they want to be modern cards. And they just raised price packs for that.
Youโre right about wotc, nothing going to be done without them considering $$$$$$$
>>96125676This makes modern horizons sound really fun to draft actually
Imagine every card being good
>>96125676Luv me Modern Horizons (for casual, draft, and commander, RIP Modern) but the obvious cost of more MH-level sets is format destroying power creep. Bear in mind MH sets are all draftable, it's just the gradient for "chaff" compared to a normal set is different. If every set was MH level, it would just establish a new "high and low", some of those sets being lower and some higher. Power gradient will always exist.
>>96125711MH sets are based to draft
But some cards are still trash in that format even if they're "high power" for the rest of Magic
>>96125628>Limited isn't about (major defining factor of limited)You don't play Limited you just jerk it off.
>>96125765>implying every limited format is bomb dependentYou don't play limited, you just played a bad couple formats and used that to form your whole opinion
>>96125793>Just play more Limited bros! It's good if you play an enormous sample size instead of just realizing it's shit and not playing anymore. Keep buying those packs! The very next set could give you a great Limited experience!Mark I know that's you.
>>96125584I just bring a block constructed deck to Limited and tell people that they're experiencing an outlier, and if they complain they don't really play Limited enough to understand how variance makes the format great.

It's probably not very good in the deck but it's an impotrant FF6 scene that I want in my deck.
Am I fucking myself over if I take one basic land out to fit this card?
There's 27 land cards in the deck, 10 of which are basic.
I'm new if that wasn't clear.

>>96126850I see, I just checked and it also has 7 artifacts that give mana.
So given that the deck has less than 38 mana sources I assume it would be better to find some creature to replace?
>>96126836The precon list unedited has 37 lands, itโs a high mana cost deck so you probably donโt want to mess with lands if anything maybe add some. Easiest answer as a noob would be to look at all the 2 mana cards in the deck and try to replace the weakest one that is sort of close to this card.

>"but I'll lose them and can't block with them???????????"And yes, he wins like.. once a month. Maybe.
>>96128924I believe the story of Nadu goes that he was sitting as a filler legend version of pic related in the file for MH3 with the same statline as the Nadu we know today. Well, somebody got worried about this nothing burger because it granted shit flash like Prophet of Kruphix and quickly slammed through a last minute change onto him which was so late it never reached playtesting. So Nadu happened because someone thought a card that did half of what Prophet of Kruphix did was going to break the format.
If you think this sounds stupid you'd be right.
>>96128946And then they printed this in the next set

>>96128868Part of the whole issue with nadu is that because he's granting it as an ability to everything it triggers twice per creature which is both clearly not how they intended it but also requires insane bookkeeping. Triggering twice per turn isn't inherently bad, they just completely fucked up the implementation because they're utterly incompetent.

Even played "fair" there's only one card in the whole game with the text "triggers TWICE a turn" and it's Nadu.
Nadu was 100% intended to be a pushed card set seller but they didn't understand the sheer magnitude of how busted it was and how badly it was going to kill every format but Commander.
