A lot of AoS original armies have to go through a sort of normalization period, where initially they are controversial because they're so different from what people are used to, but as the years roll on they just become part of the setting and people barely blink over it anymore. The challenge with designing Chorfs for AoS is that we already have Steampunk Dwarfs and Fire Dwarfs, so they had to come up with something that was distinct from both.

And all of the infantry kits, it looks like they have shorter beards on the males because i think ALL of the heads are modular (a la votann) so all of the females (which honestly some of them are pretty alright looking) are only optional

VERY happy with this release, and while it may not pull me back into AoS fully, i think i might get some of these chorf models since ive been waiting forever for a fully new dwarf faction with more modern proportions (like the votann).
Also im surprised how not blatantly unusable the hats and all of the other design elements are, while not quite as inspired as either of the old chorfs, these are a MAJOR step up from lumineth, and ESPECIALLY the other AoS dwarfs

The hobgoblins being the best kit in this release is just insane even the bulltaur are only alright and not as good as the forgeworld ones.
I think ultimately it was a monkey's paw release and a downgrade from established design, chaos dwarfs were one of the few fantasy factions that fit into AOS without problem and they had to redesign them.
