I think Chorfs selling gangbusters was always unlikely. I suspect they'll still sell well enough after the initial "weirdness" of their reveal wears off.

A lot of AoS original armies have to go through a sort of normalization period, where initially they are controversial because they're so different from what people are used to, but as the years roll on they just become part of the setting and people barely blink over it anymore. After all, you can't become a beloved classic overnight.

The challenge with designing Chorfs for AoS is that we already have Steampunk Dwarfs and Fire Dwarfs, so they had to come up with something that was distinct from both.

They seem to have settled on, uhhhh...Warpfire powered kinda vaguely techy Babylonians. Which is definitely a compromise, but they did what they had to do to thread that needle.

What I find weird is that this sounds like a very heavy retcon of hashut back in fantasy? hashut was already a chaos entity back then, while now it seems they have implied that he was part of the dwarfs pantheon until he got assigned ghur to rule and got mad about the shitty job, but that either means that he was not chaos anymore until that point or that the dwarfs pantheon in aos more or less accepted a formerly (or non overtly) chaos god as one of them.

Mixed about the aesthetics. Will probably look a lot better with another paint scheme and maybe a bit of conversions here and there.
I'm pretty surprised by the amount of kits that are dual build though, they've been slacking on that lately but it really helps give the army a lot more meat to it. Pleasantly surprised on that front.
