Still trying to sell my chaos warrior army. Iโll probably use that money to either start dogs of war, whenever that actually becomes a thing. The fake leak mad them seem interesting. Maybe Iโll get the chaos dwarves instead if that box actually flops too.
>>96127820 (OP)Nothing yet. I was waiting to see AoS chorfs before I kept working on converting mine. But with the announcement of a combined Empire Cathay army I might try getting a head start on that instead.

I've been staring at my hobby table for like two months now dreading the mold line scraping cancer I have to do for my remaining models.
>>96127820 (OP)>TQStill working on 120 zombies to start my VC army. I love the 90s plastic zombies like you wouldn't believe, though

Working on glade riders, and continuing to craft 1k lists. I think this is my current 1k wood elf army.
212 - Glade Captain, Cavalry Spear, Wild Rider Kindred, A Befuddlement of Mischiefs, General, Great Stag, Mantle of Rebirth
85 - Shadowdancers, Spear of Loec
120 - Spellsinger, Wizard Level 1, Illusion, Oaken Stave
104 - 8 Glade Guard, Hagbane Tips
104 - 8 Glade Guard, Hagbane Tips
105 - 5 Glade Riders, Hagbane Tips, Reserve Move
91 - 5 Wardancers
โข 1x Wardancer, Additional Hand Weapon, Bladesinger
โข 4x Wardancer, Additional Hand Weapon
179 - 5 Wild Riders, Shield, Wild Hunter, Standard Bearer, War Banner
I have the glade guard, mage, and wardancers painted I'd like to have this all painted by end of summer.
BASTARDS, HOW DARE YOU SPIT POISON AT THE MAGNIFICENT CHAOS DWARVES OF AoS, I WANT TO SEE WHEN THEIR PATHETIC VERSIONS OF FANTASY COME OUT AND SEE THAT ALL OF THEM EXCEPT ONE OR SO HERO ARE THE MODELS THAT THEY RELEASED THE FIRST TIME BACK IN THE LEGANO YEAR OF THE 70s
>>96128020How do you like the wood elves? I canโt decide between starting them and high elves.
>>96128042Are you ok buddy? Do you need an ambulance?
>>96127820 (OP)>TQThe AoS chorf reveal is making me dust off all the old FW Legion of Azgorh stuff I picked up ages ago. Got two units of Fireglaives and two Infernal Guard that need to be shown some love alongside a few Bull-Centaurs and Daemonsmiths
>>96128075Yes, I'm fine now, it's just that I was reading the comments of the new chorfs and what I saw completely "sauced" me, but I've already let off steam and I'm fine.
>>96127820 (OP)Now that we are getting a slayer army of infamy how will they make them viable? Ward save? make them faster? How limited will their roster be?
>>96128063I'm struggling to be honest but it's due to me used to playing beastnen for several editions so the lack of a mainstray anvil to spring my trap around has really hurt. That said
>wardancers are super fun blenders>staglord/hero has produced every game for me>glade guard do really well even after poison nerf I find hagbane does solid. I fight a lot of no armor/high toughness meta tho>Eternal guard shit the bed for me every time. I see online they tend to have a few builds that are viable but I've come to accept wood elves don't have real anvil>wild riders, sisters are really funI'd say if you like moving and playing trades while accepting things like magic missiles, flying monsters, super tough T4 infantry blobs are shit to play into but it's fun to run around and being annoying. Also I haven't played tree stuff which I hear fixes alot of the issues I mentioned (treekin are in like every batrep I see on youtube) so if you build smart I think you will have a lot of fun. And honestly I have a good amount of fun but there are things I don't enjoy so in short
>if you like running around, trying to set traps and going all in on 1 charge you'll have fun. I enjoy shooting, moving, and setting up charges or baiting enemy charges, and our Heros are super dope >if you enjoy the grinding part or fall for bad units like eternal guard, warhawks, orion, you'll have a bad time. Also accept any unit over 1 round of combat =ded.I'm a bit all over the place cause I've had some highs and lows. Definitely a high skill ceiling I haven't hit fully.

>>96128610The High Elf one isn't bad. I like High Elves and Bretonnia. The rest were very meh. Not bad, but these two new ones are on another level.
Almost done with my Great Weapon Standard Bearer in my Minotaur unit.
Standard will be flowing behind him hung from the handle of the converted poleax

>>96127820 (OP)>TQIf the new rules for smaller games are good I might start a TOW army
>>96128623I hope we see new unit kits alongside them and not just more characters. They gotta replace the skeleton horses at some point, right?
>>96127897>>96128702A part of me is thinking of starting Cathay as my next project just because the mould lines will be almost/a non issue.
>>96128727Just donโt get the statue
>>96128714>I hope we see new unit kits alongside them and not just more characters. They gotta replace the skeleton horses at some point, right?lmao
they didn't do it in 8th, they didn't do it with ToW, what makes you think they're finally going to update their decades old skeletons?
they're going to get squatted again and all the GW simps will go "see, nobody was interested in them" while refusing to consider why
I doubt we've seen all the models coming out alongside the new AJ. It has an army of Infamy for Slayers, and all the Slayers kits are ancient metal.
A new plastic Slayers kit would sell super well, people love Slayers. Especially coming out alongside rules for a mostly Slayers army
>>96128753>people love slayersAnon, people donโt even love dwarfs.
>tomb kings occupy border princes
>standard of living actually goes up
>>96128736I have heard it's a pain in the dick to assemble but I really really really love the sentinel. I will probably miss the balloon because it's just a bit much for me, but I love the statues.

God I hope this means Brettonians are getting plastic Damsels and Grail Knights. Maybe they'll decide to force the "female knight" issue by adding Unicorn Knights.

Correct me if i'm wrong but we can already have an army full of Slayers if Ungrim leads a Royal Clan and the Bretonnian Exiles are from the Border Princes right ?
>>96128951Shadows of Brimstone Lost Tombs ships next year. There's three different enemy packs for that with equivalents for Ushabti with great weapons.
>>96129035>full slayerYes. Hopefully we get slayer pirates or something additional.
>bretonnian exile as border princesThey kinda work, but not quite the same spirit.
>>96129035Kinda yeah, but they suck even with the 1.5's infantry changes. Too expensive without any armor or threat projection. I'm assuming they will get some sort of ward save.
>>96129086Ungrim is also a stinker compared to dwarf king. Really expensive, sure he has monster slayer but monsters can just avoid him.
>>96129096Isn't every special character in TOW absurdly expensive?
>>96129104Most of them are. Burlok is pretty good value though.
>>96129104>>96129112Burlock, the Green Knight, General Hans von Lowenhacke, Settra, and Miao Ying are all excellent.
None of the others are especially bad, apart from Araloth, who's fucking shit; though some of them (Ungrim Thorgrim, Orion) may be a little overpointed for what they do.
>>96129188>Orion>a little overpricedHe's like 100, 150pts at least overpriced.
>>96129188Lowenhacke might have a better argument now that infantry is better but I still don't really like him. Also I think Kralmaw is solid. Level 4, gives beastmen access to dark magic, 4+ ward, and lets you counterdeploy an uninteractable power level 3 devolve anywhere on the battlefield.
>>96129242Silly anon. Lowenhacke is there for the extra +1 first turn roll on a low drop artillery army.
>>96128042Looks as expected? Scale mail, sharp pauldrons, big hats. tusks. GW were too conservative imo but they're not bad.
>>96129255I tried out the full Nuln artillery train complete with most my core points spent on outriders once.
Felt pretty dirty afterwards so I won't be doing it again.
Didn't have Lowenhacke though.
>mogged by some literal who in Finland
>>96128042Upon ruminating I have to say, I like them, yeah they aren't one for one when compared to either iteration of Chorfs if Fantasy but that's AoS for ya, they wouldn't look too out of place, albeit they are very angular
I think main problem with their looks for me is the odd choice of colors here, especially use of green for fire and real overuse of smoke in the larger units and artillery pieces
>>96129313Gonna be real these guys don't really strike me as industrialists
>>96129313Anon, we are talking about an age of sigmar range here. That is perhaps the shittiest point of comparison you could have picked.
>>96128042>champion carries a hammerhey, that's illegal
>>96129368It's okay, it's only a mallet, completely different to a hammer.
>>96128569>>96128624Same boring straight-models-to-art pipeline as in previous AJ covers. Remarkably soulless. Oh wait! Westerland cover has a part of a Cathay boat in it, truly amazing...
>>96129381the fact he's a manlet changes nothing, he needs a license for that hammer.
>>96128042Are the watermelons embedded in their weapons in case they get hungry during battle?
>>96129414Incredibly wise
>>96128513They meant they've realised there's profit in the 48-page journal format and so they've got a contract with chang book pubrishing company for 20 more of them. Now just to figure out what to fill the pages with.
>>96129436arn't most of the AJ printed in the UK, the Dwarf one was
Anons, I have a question that I will try to word in the best of faith. How has Cathay gotten away with being an ethnically homogenous army while the new chaos dwarfs have gotten a smattering of Africans?
I was actually pleasantly surprised when Cathay was shown to be all Chinese, but in light of the chorf release I don't know how they've managed it: These are two non-white races, each with extreme ingroup preferences and a disdain for outsiders, each representing a great opportunity to bring in non-western themes into their settings. But only one has models with dark skin and broad noses and afro hair (braids and beards).
I wonder if the reason for this is more about the game system or the target market. Is the Chinese market really so powerful as to negate the touch of diversity, and in any other new TOW faction Africans would have been fair game? Like when they released that star wars movie poster and only the Chinese version was missing the black guy? Or is AoS (and recently also 40k, so maybe their "mainline" games) literally the DEI containment game where they shove all this stuff to meet quotas and it's nothing to do with TOW at all?
>>96129587being around chaos and volcanos all the time would probably make anyone look like a nigger
how long should it take to paint a 2000 point army?
More cathay when? I hope we see at least two more waves before they make another new faction.
>>96129587Is that a fucking WHIP on that fem dwarf's belt? Looks like a certain sculptor didn't get the memo that slavery is bad...
>>96129587It's because AoS is a diverse game. Black elves and dwarfs are fine there but not in Fantasy
>>96129587GW's desire to put random geometric shapes and weird fuckin angles on their models is the greater offence desu, coz a headswap is easier than fixing that stuff
>>96129670CAD has a lot to answer for
>>96129261Its the simplication of their design language into a bunch of straight lines that spoils it for me - there are weird straight lines everywhere the mind wants curves - the armour looks like its made of pressed sheet metal for roofing rather than like an exaggeration of real armour
Went from esoteric evil mesopotamian dwarfs to art deco wank
>>96129680As opposed to the doughy doughness of hand sculpts?
>>96129355It's clear that these are inspired by the first Chaos Dwarfs which were literally just midget Warriors of Chaos rather than the aesthetic that is more known today.
>>96129700yes, incredibly anon natural textiles, organisms and historical armours are usually rounded and not weirdly angular like they are made of fucking bismuth.
>>96129709>like they are made of fucking bismuththat would be a cool colour scheme for the chuardins though
>>96129587If chaos dwarves still took strong influence from a non white culture, you probably wouldn't see them fiddling around with race in such a way. Cathay are very blatanly the Chinese faction, so they won't have such a thing. If Kislev comes to TOW expect to see black people in the studio paint schemes at least. If there is not a particularly clear racial allegory for humans / dwarves / elves, or if the allegory is for some type of European, there will be African features and or black paint schemes. If there is a racial allegory for non white people, GW won't add in other races.
>>96129700>cherrypicking warlord sculptscope lol
>>96129717eastern europeans aren't real europeans
>>96129670Gotta maximize edge highlights.
>>96129727t. eastern european
So yesterday I played two 500 point battles vs tomb kings. Managed a win and loss.
Just curious if the tomb prince had a combined wounds of 5 or 6? Cause I did 3 wounds but apparently the chariot combines wounds like a monster?
>>96129727I think GW will count them as such. Actually, fuck it. We need as many human factions as possible from every minor area in TOW so we can determine who GW considers white enough to be black.
>>961297336, they do indeed combined wounds.
>>96129745Oh ok, fair enough. Thank you for clarifying.
>>96129727Poland is central europe btw. Only belarus, moscow and ukraine is eastern europe. Just FYI
>>96129739>so we can determine who GW considers white enough to be black.they already make tileans and estalians black, but they are obviously meds, not white, so gw's opinion is bullshit
>>96129752They are very good for that reason, as well as being unable to be killed by killing blow or monster slayer, and for mages still giving 360 degree view.
>>96129756i thought finland was the easternmost eu country
>>96129756>Poland is central europe btwIt only is in 90% of alt history fanfictions.
>>96129047>literally called brimstoneAbsolute vantablack caca.
So olive oil regions aren't white, but what's the defining characteristic / dividing line to the east.
>>96129761Yeah I was not prepared to get run over by the chariots so horrifically game 1. D3+ 1 impact hits each??? Mental. Though I am learning not to let my opponents set up the scenery too. Also showed me some interesting wheeling monouvers with hounds to essentially trap / bait enemy units into counter charges.

I think the models could perhaps be improves substantially with these changes:
Spear - > axe
Round shield instead of tower shield
Change pauldrons to be smooth and flared not angular and bent
Change hat to a proper chorf hat
>>96129821Genuinely nice photoshop. They look cool that way.
>>96129821If you have to change the model that much then it's far better to grab completely different models from the get go.
Chuardins aren't chorfs, the salvageable models are the heroes on foot, the centaurs and bull robot.
>>96129821And the beard needs to be at least twice the length and volume. They look like dwarf teens with these sorry whiskers. And the nose must be a proper schnoz.
>>96129821>Spear - > axeConsidering all spears have that weird spherical gimmicky energy source, that could also be used as contact point to add an axe blade onto the spear for a halberd.
>>96129781It depends on how much of your ancestry is composed of hunnic and turkic blood (and the blood of other asiatic groups)
>>96129733Yeah tomb princess are fucking thick Vaseline man, always shocking when a hero equilavent guy has 3w base.
>>96129974>Tomb Princessactually surprised they didn't make the herald kit with a female version, the journal talks about the female royalty fighting like the men and Khalida is popular.
so cathay will get their ranged troops from empire
what else could they include on top of walking wizards
>>96129724Post a hand sculpted mini that looks good. I'll wait
Not sure if autistic or necessary but I didn't like the default way this shield/banner combo attached to the chaos knight's arm, by default the shield up sinks into the slot and the pole protrudes. So I fixed it. Will it gets seen? Probably not, but I'll know.
Can filthy imperials even keep up with cathayans?
>>96130029A female version would have required an additional torso and made the head options not interchangeable, it's better for tomb queen to be a standalone resin model, but it would be hard for them to make one that's better than khalida or not redundant with her, so it's better if they just return her model.
>>96130093The sword is way off
>>96130103Those eyes lol. What is this, disney?
>>96130109Absolute tastelet. /aosg/ will be more your style, shoo.
>>96128042Oh hey cool Warcraft are doing a miniatures range.
>>96130087is this /wfg/ equivalent of /wip/ craft paints
everyone loses their shit year after year even if they have seen the same circus dozens of times
>>96130123Go back to /grog/, shout into the void of your dead general, nostalgycuck.
>>96130143This is the Warhammer Fantasy General, /wfg/. You're the one who doesn't like Warhammer Fantasy models, ergo, you need to leave. This game isn't for you.
>>96128753>asking GW for plastic replacementsYou're insane.
>>96130167Old handfag shit isn't WHFB models, or any models at all. It's all just turds that you for some reason won't give up on, probably because you're retarded and formed an autistic attachment to them.
>>96130202The Foot Knights seem like the odd one out when it comes to TOW plastic kits, most of the rest have been pretty good and outside of the Foot Knights and Sentinel not a pain to assemble
>>96130202They're not great but not terrible either
>>96130202At this point I'm completely convinced they sculpted only the arms, weapons shields and heads and wanted to include them into the knights of the realm box as a way to update that old kit, but they were told "No" by the higher ups and aphazardly and passionlessly put together a bunch of bodies to sell that glorified upgrade sprue with.
must be hard do design a model that is easy to paint and nice like older models were but overly complicated, dynamic and cool at the same time
>>96129821Looks infinitely better, but apparently they're not allowed to use axes because that would cannibalise the sales of fyreslayersโข kits sorry, I mean "because that's a symbol of grungni and grimnir". So gw basically gimped the potential of this range from the get go lol.
>>96130089Very precise detail anon, great work
>>96130202>"Let's face it, 20mm bases were just too small even by the end of 8th edition, so we are doing the sensible thing and moving everything to 25mm minimum">first new kit they release is noticeably larger than any other human models and significantly overhangs the new larger base size
>>96129680it's not the method itself (cad has been in use at gw since 2006), it's just that it allows lesser skilled, lazy and clueless fucks to sculpt, it also allows middle managers to force to 'speed up, you can copypaste that armor or use a texture library' wich unvariably hurts quality
when you hand sculpt you can't get away with the things you can when it's digital
>>96129587Different games, different settings.
In AoS the Age of Chaos caused massive upheaval and displacement as people tried to flee the Chaos hordes. The Realmgates also make travel between wildly different locales much easier. So for most factions, a degree of diversity is the fluffy choice.

>>96130202How did they manage to fuck up something so simple.
Chorfs at least have the excuse of there being like 3 different variations of them, none of which sold particularily well so they had to innovate a bit. Foot knights should've been an incredibly straightforward simple W.
oh boy am I sure excited for the new chorf models
>>96130521I gotta be honest with you dude. If you talk like that you can't get upset when people don't want to to respond to you
>>96130521Top looks so much worse than bottom, holy shit.
>>96130636The best models I've found are from Tortuga Bay, just good honest recreations that faithfully capture the style and concept with crisp detail
>>96130660Nice thanks anon, I didn't even know tortuga did anything other than hueg marines, I'll check them out
>>96130636Fuck.... this AI slop actually fooled me for like 45 seconds. I wonder what it'll be like 5/10 years from now.
>>96130669At the moment the bulk of their range is similar to the legion of azgorh style, but they're also doing bighats soon, with previews of the same on their insta
>>96130670It's not AI slop brother, although it is a render that the creator arranged and colourised. I have all these STLs though and can confirm they're legit
>>96130670There's something I find hilarious about people misidentifying things as AI. It's even better when they go off on one about it. There's just a beautiful irony in it.
Your AI sensors are probably just getting triggered by the weird flat pseudo-red period painting though.
>>96130535can't you give the khornate rabbit ears to the blowhorn too? it would be cute
>>96130660I still think lost kingdom miniatures are the best, as I'm less fond of the stricter adherences to the classic look and they've covered pretty much everything and then some.
>>96130755my issue with lost kingdom was that their weapons and some of the spiky details like horns and shit tend to be too thin, so when printed they kinda just snap eventually. less of an issue with newer abs like flexible resins, but still not great. like, when i did some they were historical levels of thin undersized weapons.
>>96130636Chorfs never looked good, huh?
>>96130769The hellcannon is a model that all warhammer fans either love or respect.
>>96130769Those are new models made by a fan
>>96130776It's not a Hellcannon
>>96130806Don't imply I was implying things I wasn't implying.
>>96130755These guys ?
They're not the worst but they have that instantly noticeable third party quality to them yknow what I mean. Some parts are very detailed, some parts are a 10 second cad job. Do like the helmets on the guys, gw really shoul've gone for classic fully cilindrical helmets. Oh well.
>>96130985The normal chorf warriors (not the elites you posted) and blunderbusses are good but their hobgoblins suck ass
>>96130453>still silentwhat a surprise
What is the best third party chorf range? Tortuga has nice troops but not much else.
>>96131117Depends what kind of aesthetics you're after. I think for a fairly modern rendition that covers most of the range you have white angel minis?
All these 3d prints look like slop. Genuinely curious if there are any that arenโt overdesigned.
>>96131032I didn't find blunderbusses from a quick glance, only fireglaives which looked like shit. You're right about the basic warriors though, they look pretty good.
Imo the best third party shit is by punga, they're the only ones I've found actually capable of replicating the gw artstyle. Unfortunately they've also managed to perfectly replicate the gw prices, if not worse in some cases.
>>96131139That's the main problem I find with 3d creators. I think it's because they can zoom in to the tiniest millimetre of their model, see it empty, and think it needs filling with detail. They lose sight of what the model looks like irl.
The best low-detail chorfs I've seen are from forest dragon, who actually does 10mm sculpts (hence the low detail) but their chorfs scale up pretty well to a slightly chunky 28mm. I can't find any pictures of them printed at 28mm but I've seen it done before and it looks decent.
>>96131239A lot of 3D creators seem to forget that people actually need to paint their models so they refuse to hold back unlike companies who actually make miniatures
>>96131139I really like Ilhadiel sculpts
>>96131313Some of the stuff on Etsy are just atrocities of more=better
tzaangors, slaangors, etcโฆ are never getting rules are they
>>96131406I still chuckle that they can't call them Nurgors because it can definitely be overheard as something else
>>96131406They should be marked bestigors, maybe with special wargear options unlocked by the particular mark (bows for MoT, etc)
>>96129717>>96129739Non-chinese asians are honorary whites and thus subject to "diversification"
>>96131440What does the bike lock on the front do?
Is it so he can keep it from being stolen if he's hanging out with Sallies?
>>96131508>Asian driver on flying space bike needs a bumperlol
>>96131313>people actually need to paint their models so they refuse to hold back unlike companies who actually make miniaturesisnt the whole cad versus hand sculpted argument about that in the first place
sure some people like the detail and are more painting oriented but it matters little on tabletop when you are looking at them from half a meter away
Gimme the simplest units ever that I can get done with in less than a week. Range doesn't matter I just need something to break up the tedium of picrel.
>>96131431really disagree, maybe itโs just bc bestigors are pretty mid in TOW but theyโre more interesting to me as unique units
>>96131418pestigors sounds cooler tbqh as a play on words with bestigor
>>96131546Chaos Warriors are pretty easy.
Ogres too.
>>96131546Skeletons or night goblins. You can get the WGA skeletons, spray them Wraithbone (or whatever it's called), use Agrax Earthshade on the bone then all you're left with is the weapons.
>>96131565You're really gonna recommend painting more gold trim?
>>96131575whats wrong with painting trim
ive seen anons painting backwards starting with metal basecoat and painting around the trim just to get away with it even if thats like 3 times the work
Wait this isn't /40kg/ what the fuck.
Gonna do Chaos warriors though lol thanks anons
>>96131575Chaos Warriors don't have a lot of trim.
>>96131609They are awful to paint though. Theyโre awful models all around, really.
>>96131615I think they're pretty easy to paint.
Would be open to a better kit.
Iโm disappointed there arenโt more Estalian Blood Dragons, the Spanish aesthetic would look incredible for a Vampire - especially one thatโs would love to turn a Diestro.
>>96128042Honestly, barring the female chorfs and stale hats etc, just removing the annoying WoW orbs and gems would improve these sculpts a lot
>>96131724estalia has even less lore than tilea, I think you're quite free to imagine blood dragons in tilea
>>96131724You are villano borracho and you will like it.
>>96131724Lasombra fucking shit detected.
I like the helsmiths of hashut and I'm going to use them for a chaos dwarf army.
>>96131919Great, I hope as many people like them as possible, they're just not what I was hoping for tbqh
>>96131919>I like garbageFree country anon, you do you.
>>96131923I don't mean this in a bad way, but what else could they have been? What were you expecting?
>>96131933Funny chorf hats.
Instead they're just plain and way too blocky.
I can't decide between round or square bases for my TOW-compatible Skaven.
I have my old Skaven from 6th-8th. They're still on squares, I never rebased because AoS was a bad game. But round bases are FAR aesthetically superior to square ones. And I am also adding a bunch of the new Skaven. I would also want whatever I build and complete to work for Mordheim (where the aesthetics of round bases REALLY pay off, but where squares are also the default).
I know this shithole is a reactionary haven, and a lot of autobrains will just go "square" and then fart on with their lives, but I am looking for pros and cons of both.
>>96127820 (OP)>What are you currently working on?Finish another project. Then I'm going to finish up my trolls.
I came back after a year to find my trolls have gotten even dumber.
>>96131933I mean I guess they fit in really well in AoS, but I was hoping to use them in TOW. Basically not much change since the old FW sculpts
>>96131947Reject Rounds.
Reject squares.
Embrace Hexes.
>>96131947>But round bases are FAR aesthetically superior to square onesGo to AoS. Stay there.
>>96131949i like your blu-tac bases
very retro feel overall
>>96131724Vampire Conquistadors are a cool look.
>>96131976>i like your blu-tac basesThey're magnetic actually
>very retro feel overallThat was definitely the goal with the green bases. I gotta finish a few and go back and do finishing touches like flock.
>>96131947its very easy to slot round bases into a square tray without effecting the size or spacing. it is MUCH more difficult to convert square bases to properly sized and spaced rounds.
go for rounds. the round converter trays also allow you to add some basing material to the tray making it look nice, and allow you to rotate the figs so they rank up nice and easy regardless of pose
>>96131964I've played more WHFB and for longer than you.
It makes sense you prefer squares, though, since a square is just multiple L's. Feels like home.
>>96131949I like these guys. Would unleash my night gobbos on them.
>>96132023>says the smegmar player
>>96132034Can you read, Dolt?
I tried Sigtard the month it came out, when beards and yelling still gave your army bonuses, and it was ass trash. I haven't played it since. Round bases are not "an Age of Sigmar thing" you fucking broken monkey.
>>96132032Night gobos is probably my next WHFB army.
I half finished a Mangler Squig/Squig-asaurus Rex before getting distracted.
>>96132020Thank you for genuine advice.
Do you use the Miniwargaming trays? Are they one of the better manufacturers? It's FDM printed, right?
>>96132044nta but you may consider giving aos another shot. it was only like that for a few months, now it plays just like any other game of round based warhammer more or less. its decent, nowhere near as bad as people on here make it out to be. it does lack customization and a fair bit of wargear and psychology granularity, but its also much faster to play as a tradeoff
>>96132034Don't bother replying to the larp brother
>road wardens vs pistoleersIs there literally any reason to choose pistoleers over road wardens? Better BS, no impetuous, fire and flee vs counter charge...
>>96132053i dont use them but people at my shop do, they're good and cheap. they've got a whole floor of their building dedicated as a printing factory. i have my own printer so i havent needed to buy theirs, there are free movement tray files on thingiverse and cults3d if you can print, or you can just make your own super fast in blender with a rectangular cube and a cylinder with an array and boolean modifier in like 5 seconds, made to whatever size and model count you want.
im not sure what printer they use but i would assume its fdm, faster cheaper, more durable than SLA if you dont need SLA's detail
>>96132051Nice! Funny, because I was thinking of doing a troll army after I'm happy with my goblins. Guess they're sort of in a similar area in terms of tone and aesthetics.
>>96132062It might play like current 40K, but neither of them plays like classic WHFB or 40K. I oppose the streamlined slop era of both games.
>>96132075A definite overlap as far as goofy random violence.
You should post your night goblins when you get a chance
Why do 3rd party slayer units include women? I donโt want to pay GW prices for their slayers and I donโt want lady dwarfs in my army.
>>96132062> consider giving aos another shot. it was only like that for a few months, now it plays just like any other gamethey should really consider making this a selling point because i too was under the impression that you still have to constantly shout and act out

>>96132181What is this incelshit? Squares look better sure, but it doesn't need anything beyond that.
>>96132062AoS was a fun game last edition with a lot of flavour. This current edition 40kified it by removing most of the flavour and simplifying it. The game is declining as a result in terms of events being held and tournament participation.
>>96132226Get a life Perryfag
>>96131947you can always make something bigger via movement trays etc trays but its impossible to make something smaller
if you consider how many editions of warhammer and homebrews there are around is it really worth it to rebase perfectly good army just because of old world
>>96131947Keep them on oldhammer squares if thereโs a community near you that plays it. You can always buy/print adapter trays for old world so you can use them in both.
>>96132240A lot of people would say to that because despite there being many edition itโs very hard to find anyone playing anything but the latest thing unless you live in a metropolis.
>>96132134check durgin paint forge. not the cheapest files, but very good quality and plenty of character.
>>96132234>tfw used to be able to make fun conversions of an elf femdom dominated human society>GW slaps down allies, makes CoS the ugliest looking pieces of shit, and forces more men into DoKIt's like a me repellent.
>>9613224099% of these exist only online tho, before old world fantasy was scattered unto various factions of what was the "right" ed making each community extremely small. Unless you lived in a major city, and even then not always, chances were your "meta" was you and maybe 1 or 2 people you knew at best and usually nobody.
>>96132134>>96132261p.s. note that he does 2 styles of dwarf - some more whimsical fantasy RPG style stuff, and then rank and file stuff. don't be put off if you see the former first!
>>96132258>>96132309but aint it better to leave your options open
its not like you lose anything and you never know what might happen in the future
>>96132501Eh. Like I said unless you live in a mega city you arenโt really keeping your options open because no one plays older editions of games.
>>96132501for me, i keep my 20mm as is when they are based already, and have gotten some custom trays to move them. I highly doubt there will be another edition or game to use them with 20mm. ironically, for those now based on 25mm, if the very slim chancve something comes up based on 20mm i can use them for, i could just use custom trays again with a frontage for that game. Really, again unless they are already based on 20mms there is no reason to keep going that way.
>>96130403There's always been the rogue schizo, but it wasn't until around 2016/2017 that pol blew the fuck up, and we have had shitty fucking lol tourists spilling out of containment ever since. Now-a-days it really depends on who's awake for how schizo this general gets.
In addition, with the popularity of total Warhammer creating new fans, and gw painstakingly making sure aos is as inclusive as possible, a specific breed of newfags have been showing up larping as old heads while screaming about all the black people in aos.
An easy way to shut people up is just to say "post minis"
>>96132240Damn, I think your post sealed my fate. I forgot that old infantry bases were 20mm.
I only have ~40 spare 25mm squares, which would not be enough to equip the new Skaven I've bought.
Circles it is, boys.
>>96132909Didn't Warhammer Old World flop?
New lore about Hashut dropped.
He is not an actual Chaos God, the same as the four Chaos Gods. Long ago in WHFB, he was a dwarf who ascended to godhood. In AoS, he wants to complete his ascension and become a full Chaos God.
>>96128657>>96128664I don't think a traditional wavey-flag standard is necessary. If anything, just paint his loincloth as a captured Empire/Bret flag, that would be more organic and cool. Plus it gets the I HATE HUMIES message across and tells a story.

prime white, add some odd colourful trim and bright metal and you are basically done
>>96132992When you get outsold by battletech and Norzul's you know you're in a bad place.
>>96132987Tombkings are both blessed with good boxset and peoxy options, and are exceptionally easy to paint for the most part. Literally prime beige>wash a bone color paint> paint details>base in sand. That's like 90% the army. The downside is the basic skele kit is ancient but there are plenty of good alternatives. Also they are very strong on the table with lots of fun options.
>>96132987Tomb Kings on the whole are pretty easy.
Otherwise maybe Warriors of Chaos?
>>96132915It's exceeded expectations according to GW which is all we have to go off atm
Am I wrong for thinking that the army building rules for Skaven are a bit too restrictive
Question: How do you not feel bad after getting shit stomped?
I like to think of myself as a casual: Don't mind losing so long as it's not having lost horribly.
I have lost before and it was fine but getting face rolled feels so disheartening and demoralising. How to better handle this?
>>96132992No that list was compiled by a third party distributor who had an opt in chart for some FLGSs in the US. It had whatever the hell Bones is on the top 10 but no Bolt Action. Completely useless to use it for global sales.
>>96132987Warriors of Chaos are a low-model army and easy to paint. Tomb Kings are easy to paint as well if you just put the Skeleton Horde contrast paint on them after priming white.
>>96133069reflect on what you did and how you can do better Sometimes you just have to accept the rules are against you and hope it changes at some point. I lost about every game in the past year and now with the FAQ changes I've won 4 games in two weeks.

>>96133069As the local wood elf boot decoration, the easiest way is to accept you failed either at list building or table deployment or target picking etc, and either read up on tactics or rebuild your list. Scale creeped unfortunately. Bull Centaurs seem perfect tho.
