the most recent OVA book is much nicer than the old one, authough they're the same edition just better formatted and with more art

they have to actually be the newest editions right? then one's all ive got

For all Catalyst's problems, the current Battletech minis are a big step up from the old stuff. They even scale them consistently. Kind of. Scale in Battletech was always kinda fucked. Most of the art is generally better, too, although the newest character portraits are pretty ugly and I'm pretty sure some of them are at least partly AI. Win some, lose some.

A lot of people like PF2e better than D&D 3.75: Even More Complicated.

Warhammer had a sweet spot in development exactly when I was 14 So for a while that was Old Bad New Good.
D&D 3.5 was terrible, but it was better than 2e all day long.
Spycraft 1 was broken completely, 2 works better.
<Shadowrun edition war>
VTM revised is better than original.

>Pf1e was made by people who didn't like the changes from 3.5e to 4e
>Pf2e adds a bunch of ideas and mechanics from D&D 4e
>everyone likes it even more than Pf1e
D&D fans are weird

I enjoyed it immensely when I left the game for 15 years and came back to everyone saying that, yes, the edition i played really was the best.

Clearly, everything's better when you're 12-16, eh?

Summoner Wars second edition took an already fantastic skirmish cardgame and made it nearly perfect.

kek 2e and 1e are almost exactly the same game. DND3 was the major prompt that started the OSR because it was the worst D&D since 1977 until 4e came out.

Boardgames have gotten way better. In the 2000's people used to spend hours playing Apples to Apples and Zombies.

You really would have to go back and play late stage AD&D2e to understand how shitty it was. 3.5 is shitty, but it was majorly less shitty.

GURPS 4e is superior to 3e, 3e is superior to 2e, and I have no idea what 1e is like.
Honestly, I think edition wars are mostly a D&D thing, most other games just make iterative improvements instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater every time. I can only think of games that were made by different companies like in the case of WFRPG where some editions are completely different.

Attention resident obsessed D&D defender, I'm not saying D&D bad, just saying that every edition since 3e tends to be radically different.

TCGs are on average better designed than they used to be. Pokemon and magic were always pretty well designed, but a lot of 90s and 2000s games were YGO-tier jank.

The iterations on the Duel Masters formula we see all over now are on average a lot better than the "things besides Magic and Pokemon" we used to get.

So glad they removed racist cards like Invoke Prej*dice and showed societal progression through cards like Aragorn and LGBTQ+ awareness in their 2023 pride month secret lair!

40k grognards also seem to hate anything past 8th edition, while all the Nu players started in like 9th and 10th.

My mistake, I don't really play wargames so I was only speaking from the perspective of an RPG player.

2nd Editions tend to be better than 1st editions. Off the top of my head it's true for Star Trek Adventures, Stars Without Number, and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
