A girl stuck through one of our group's RPG campaign when I was in college. She was fine, but was not into it enough to play another campaign.
Also in college, I was in a Diplomacy game where two girls participated. One of them was okay, if not really good, but the other really could not handle the bantz and backstabbing and later on complained how the "energy" made her anxious.

Friend of a friend (who had only ever played DnD) invited herself into a PF2e oneshot I was setting up for two friends who wanted to try it. Figured having a third player wouldn't hurt.
She then spent the entire time tiptoeing around everything and refusing to do anything that even looked like it had the potential to be dangerous, complaining about not enough rp (it was a quick dungeon crawl to get them familiar with combat mechanics and she knew that beforehand), and mostly only opening her mouth to drop a "but in dnd..." whenever the system didn't match her expectations.

She slowed the game down so much we couldn't finish the oneshot. Thankfully she decided it wasn't for her and self filtered from all my future games.

Yeah, my first experience with DM'ing was in an LGS in a mall.
We had a LOT of women try a session or two before getting bored. One of them ended up sticking around and married another player irl. I stood up in their wedding lmao.
I'd bet that at LEAST 50% of new people walking into that shop to play were women. It's just that the attrition rate was astronomical.
Could part of that be that we were in a mall? maybe. Could it be that me and my friends were in excellent shape at the time? Possibly. Could they all left because we weren't actually jocks just gym autists? I have my suspicions.
This was in 2009ish too, I actually had a GF break up with me because DND still had a stigma.

Yeah, she has been playing with us in the same Exalted campaign for over 100 sessions now. She likes writing, so she keeps an in-character diary and regularly posts the entries as a means to keep track of what's happening. If any of you guys are in college, look for the acting or stagecraft students to include in your games. They are the most fun to roleplay with.

I was in a 2e AD&D game with a girl. She was dissatisfied with the playable races, so she found a bird humanoid in the monster manual and said she wanted to be that. DM okayed it. Then she said she wanted to be a bard. DM said she can’t speak language, only bird calls, so she can’t cast, and without fingers she can’t play an instrument or wield weapons, and her winged arms can’t wear armor, and she can’t fly because that would be too powerful. She didn’t care because she was a pretty bird. Between her and the guy who drank everything in sight, I spent all my time dragging them out of danger -in town- and we never got to the dungeon.

Yes, I'm currently DMing an RPG with one girl (female) player. I've known her for a few years, met her through an mmo.

She is my second most active RPer, after a guy whom one of my other buddies invited. She plays a former peasant turned sex slave turned bandit, and an all around magnet for trouble type of chatacter.

My long-term college game had a girl. She was this elf-y looking geek girl phenotype that mostly went extinct after the mid 00's. She was super sweet, always brought baked goods and sketched what was going on in-game.

The token girl after the first moved away was a BPD mess. Hot in a librarian kinda way in the same way Mormon girls are. Claimed to be lesbian but got catty if other women were around and tried to pit the guys against each other.

Both really liked making characters with tons of problems and emotional issues. This was really common among guys in the 00's too actually. People wanted their characters put through the wringer. It feels like a lot of people nowadays want a power fantasy with no real challenge.

I do more mini-campaigns and one-shots these days because everyone's 35+ and tired, but one of my female players is pretty passive(actively working on her autism) and does a lot of art on her tablet. The other is 40-something and couldn't have kids and is a sort of den mother. Always surprised at some of the solutions she comes up with or how diplomatic she can be(eg sparing and redeeming enemies I expected the party to kill off).

Overall I'd recommend it. Guys will reign in a lot of their neckbeardery in a mixed-gender game.

Femininity exists in many different ways, just because a woman doesn't fit some perceived mold doenst mean shes half a fag
a lot of people appreciate women who do not fit said mold and don't appreciate the notion that these women are encouraged to view themselves as something other than women, I'm not positive but I'd be willing to bet that label has an impact on their sexual market place value or in extremely blunt terms their willingness to reproduce.

>On average no better or worse than men of the same level of experience
>On average less experienced, more likely to be new
>In my experience mechanically average, but much more likely to want mechanics away from combat. Rules for building stronghold good, rules for autistic damage stacking bad.
>Due to newness and paucity of good role model characters, much more likely to be one of a few cliche builds (but this goes away with experience)
>Less likely to be disruptive at table, tend to read scenes and stay on tone easier. Much less likely to make shit jokes or murder the king.
>in younger groups, a magnet for bad male behaviour
Summary: generally an asset, some special considerations needed.

I started my current campaign because a friend's wife wanted to try DnD.
She has been... frustrating to try and teach. She's a sweet girl but kinda dumb. She barely remembers what has happened between sessions. Its been nearly a full year and she is just now consistently remembering what to roll in combat. And she drags the already memey tone of the game even further down that road.

Another friend's GF is much better and is getting the hang of the game much faster. But her schedule is all sorts of fucked so she's only ever able to play half our sessions, which are already every 2 weeks with lots of gaps. Not really her fault.

Yes. All my groups have/had at least one woman in them.
The DND5e game I run has my sister, three of my male friends, and one of their girlfriends. Both female players are engaging and understand the rules and how to pilot their characters. It did take a bit longer for them to warm up to the environment and game but now things are smooth sailing.

Second friend group(5 of us guys) currently playing pf2e has no women but our previous 5e game had two of the girlfriends join. One of them played a wizard and the other played a druid. Fun side note from that game; both female players have the same name IRL and completely independent of each other made gnome characters with names there were extremely similar. The druid player was competent and generally understood how to play the game and I had no complaints. The wizard however...I can only describe some of the gameplay decisions as bafflingly stupid. We had to do plenty of handholding and if we didn't suggest a course of action she was likely to just cast some random 2nd level spell that would end up having very low impact.(We were level 9+) Thankfully the rest of us had optimized characters and could pick up the slack, especially our Monk. I definitely lost some braincells playing with her, but other than being bad at the game she was fine.

Third friend group(5e) has one female player who is generally competent in piloting the character(barbarian) for combat but is more reserved in social situations and often fumbles, though it is very possible this is an intentional character trait she is playing into, in which case, bravo.

The second group I've been playing with for over a decade now since late middle school and we had a few female players filter in and out who were all decent enough, I don't remember ever getting frustrated at them like the I did with the wizard player.

yeah I'm in a game group and there's two women who are always in it for the roleplay stuff, it's chill. doesn't matter what game, either, so long as they can learn and play it quickly.
one of them can really get into the politics of a game and often turns everything into social deduction, ripping apart the social fabric and then getting whatever she wants out of it. the other leans a lot into "I'm fucking obliterating them, I do not care about your petty political reason for this behavior, I'm killing you" and is really quite entertaining to play with.
pretty much everyone else is a guy of some description, we have maybe 3 GMs in the group (myself included) so there's always something going on.

I'm not a filthy amerikaner, so yes, and its close to 50/50 when it comes to TRPGS (sadly not so much with wargames). Its a double-edged sword - on one hand, RP quality is somewhat better and also hexcrawl dogshit is DoA, leading to mostly just investigative scenarios with minimal combat. On the other hand, the average party will be a granny rat, an elephant man, a catguy and one of the female players submissive boyfriend will play as some homebrewed kobold or bugbear, making you feel weird and out of place with your basic dwarf. Also female GMs do kino sadistic, overdesigned puzzles.

Yeah. Buddy planned a 5e lvl 18 pvp one shot for us, and his (now ex, thank God) gf really wanted to join. She knew the basics of dnd, but didn't quite understand the strategy that was needed for higher lvl combat, let alone a pvp death match. He made her an admittedly sick druid that would have totally wiped us if she was a little bit better, but wasted her dragon transformation at like turn 3, and EVERYBODY else just teamed up to kill her (obv) she got knocked out first while the rest of us had a good battle with each other. She pouted in the corner for the rest of the game, and was then super pissy and passive aggressive to her bf's brother and I (we took second and first, respectively), and was openly SUPER rude to her bf for making her lose, ig. It was super weird and kinda ruined the whole thing.
Lesson learned: don't do a death match with a moid, they'll complain when they lose.

Yes. I've hosted many one-shots and we get the occasional girl. I've run many campaigns in private groups and the biggest campaign had a girl. She was a great player, took great notes, and made interesting characters. She was proactive and fun outside of the game too. Overall just a chill person. I've run games for another group for about 1.5 years and there's a very enthusiastic girl in that group too. She likes weird RP and is quite fun.

Generally, my experience has been that girls are happy to try these games but they're mostly there to socialize and/or get a novel experience. Very few will be as intensely interested in it as many men are. I have run games for many women who embody the whole: "they don't want to explore dungeons and fight dragons, they want to do D&D™ so that they can post memes and feel part of the zeitgeist". They are rarely terrible people but definitely not private-game candidates.

I've been in one open-table game where I was a player, and two fat, disgusting, clueless women were present. But obviously I've met many retarded male players too, so it is what it is.

They did not fight Nazi Germany to prevent trans people from existing.

But hey, some of them are still alive! I'm sure you can find lots of opinion polls of WW2 veterans where they say they regret their service!

Of course, they fought because they thought they were saving Europe, saving England specifically, and maybe even protecting the US in the long term. For the most part that's the rationale I've heard, anyway. So I don't think it's at all an illogical concept that if you fought to protect the world, and then later felt that your actions actually worsened certain aspects of the world, you might feel regretful of your part and your nation's part in it. Is it?

>lots of opinion polls of WW2 veterans where they say they regret their service!
You either believe Russia rigged our election, or the Democrat party rigged our election. Additionally you either believe the president is a pedophile, the entire republican party are pedophiles, or the much more reasonable view that all of our politicians are pedophiles. If you agree with any of those statements at all, you'd surely agree that broadcasting a view that is incredibly inflammatory to most modern sensibilities would be pretty low on the priority list.

>Or, again, you're projecting your own repugnant values onto them. Defeating Nazi Germany stopped the worst genocide in human history, the fact that their grandkids don't fuck enough wouldn't change that, obviously.

I know it's too much to expect your type to engage with reality, or even basic logic, but you have literally put words in WW2 veterans' mouths to say they secretly regret fighting to end Nazism. That's not my "interpretation," you said, quote:

>If my grandfather were alive today he would regret bombing your country flat and killing all the good men.

You weren't even willing to just lie to put words in his mouths, saying "oh yeah, my grandpappy, who fought in WW2, he says he regrets it because of trans." You just made up what opinion he would have.

>If you agree with any of those statements at all, you'd surely agree that broadcasting a view that is incredibly inflammatory to most modern sensibilities would be pretty low on the priority list.
Trust me, bro, just trust me, you have to trust me, they - "they" being 100 year old WW2 veterans - would all agree with me, if they could speak freely, but they are terrified of cancel culture and that's why they won't say I'm right.

And before you ask, no, I'm not asking you to do anything I haven't already done. I've never been politically engaged before - attended a couple of local protests about environmental issues and that's pretty much it - but the Israeli government's callous targeting of aid stations, medical facilities and civilian populations as part of an obvious program of ethnic cleansing has changed that. Have one as part of my regular group of players, and another who's in a game I run every other saturday morning. They're both fine. The former does fun doodles when dumb shit happens in the game and has a genuinely compelling romance subplot with one of the major NPCs who's basically leader of the NPC B-team, and the latter knows the lore of the game's setting better than I do (it's a system for a fictional setting) which is good to have on hand.

It's almost like if you're not a desperate, pathetic, retarded, failure of a human being who thinks that women should be relegated to birthing kids and cleaning house, women will not only tolerate you but be your friends! First ever experience with D&D was AD&D at a youthclub, with something like 8 players, 3 of which were highschool girls.

Those 3 invited me to a WoD game that one of them gm'ed

2 of them I kept playing with until highschool graduation, a variety of Dark Heresy and D&D.

Speaking of highschool, I ran CoC for a female only group consisting of my gf, a friend of hers, my friend's gf and a friend of hers. Was really fun.

I played shadowrun in college with my then gf and my female roommate.

I was in an online pathfinder campaign with some portugese girl.

I played in a Coriolis campaign a few years ago where the dm and one of the other players both invited their gf's, so we were 3 guys and 2 girls total.

I was roped into an online 5e campaign with a male dm and 3 canadian girls being the other players. Didn't last long though.

This year I've been playing Cities without number with my current gf and a girl we met in our local area + 2 of my guy friends and occasionally one of those guys brings his sister along.

I'd say around 1/4th or 1/3rd of the people I've played with have been women

Do you follow the news at all? Germany is being destroyed by people who claim to care about climate change, yet institute policies that increase co2 emmisions while also doing the most possible harm to the German economy and people. Germany is more coal-dependant now than it was 10 years ago.

Green agenda politicians have always been the biggest proponents of policies that damage the environment long term, because it's always all about short term virtue signaling and power grabs to them (because they're all just using climate as a convenient excuse to institute communism). I've had 2 (currently 1) in my MERP campaign since january.
90% of either one's time in a given session is spent doodling animals on their stat sheets or looking at their phones while their doormat husbands do all their character's rolling/RPing.
The other 10% is them derailing the RP for 5 minutes at a time to talk about whatever shit they ate that week, with the 2 old bastards at the table forgetting we're on the clock happily joining in, while me and GM exchange tired glances across the table.

Was the possibility ever denied? Yeah no shit, how else does the fridge know the weather outside? Do plain old toasters do this? Is there proof of this info actually being used? Why mention IoT in parentheses, that doesn’t sum anything up, just that random devices CAN be connected to the internet to serve some purpose. Where’s the beef?

Depends on the kind of game.
RPGs? Yes, several campaigns and groups. Women I played with were generally good to very good with RPGs.
Board games? This is a different issue. Generally OK, but also much higher risk of taking an attack in-game as a personal attack IRL and starting drama over it than with men. Then again, it's a good indicator of shitty people of both sexes and an opportunity to weed them from your life, so I'll take the risk.
Miniature wargames? Yes, but female players are few and far between. I personally know of a whole 4 women playing these games. Generally OK behavior, these types are usually either tomboys or dyke-adjacent, one wasn't but I'm still not sure if she wasn't dragged into it by her bf. Also their % of painted minis was much higher than with men.
(for the record, I'm speaking about actual biological women here)

"How"? If you mean how we got together, I won them over with a combination of my values, my moral character, and my sheer autism. All but one of my old flames were also neurodivergent, and the one who wasn't was raised in a family full of it.

If you mean what we did during sex, I'm so vanilla I don't even like receiving oral, so when it's up to me it's always good old-fashioned missionary and doggy-style PiV, no protection. They were all much freakier than me though, so in addition to my always being ready to give them oral as a matter of course to get them lubed up when we start, there's often bondage and dom (me)-sub (them) play involved.

I'm a quarter inch short of 5'11".

I've almost always made the first move, but a few times that's merely been a formality, because we had been on a weird naturally-escalating ladder of spontaneous affection as friends for a long period before that.

>Hobbies can't evolve or change over time
In the beginning, sure, TTRPGs were just shitty half-assed hacks of wargames. But they grew, and evolved, and became emergent storytelling games instead of just boring dungeon-crawlers where you bring 10 sheets to the game because characters 1-9 are going to die to one bad roll and also you can't spend too much gold on hirelings or equipment or else whoops you lose levels because gold is XP.

TTRPGs now are a wide, diverse (no not that kind you xitterpol-brained retard) spectrum (like your autism) that could be best placed on a square grid, with four sides: Crunchy, Rules-lite, Narrative-focused, and Combat-focused. Every system falls somewhere on this grid.

The oldest editions of D&D, especially AD&D, fall somewhere in the Rules-lite/Combat-focused part of the grid; those editions are notoriously poorly written with a whole lot of "figure it out yourself" and a hard focus on going through dungeons, and while yes, combat is usually a death sentence, that means your focus is on avoiding combat as much as possible - still focusing on combat in a roundabout way. And the fact the rules are extremely vague in a lot of regards and require delving into ancient documentation just to sort out means yes, it was rules-lite.

Modern D&D would fall closer to the Crunchy/Combat-Focused section, particularly 3.X and 4E. 5e and 2024 lean a bit closer to the Narrative and rules-lite axis, but stay firmly in the quarter of the grid where crunchy and combat meet as they have a whole lot of rules for a whole lot of things if you actually read the books and don't just parrot /tg/'s nogames nonsense.

A girl introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons! I had not ever heard of it when she brought it up. She was living the next block over and I guess her older brothers did not want to play it with her? So in her frustration she grabbed the weird naive neighbor kid. But she moved away before we could get anything going, I mean, we just started rolling things up when they called her to go. I saved up my allowance money and over the summer I bought the Moldvay box set, so it must have been 1980, 1981, or 1982 that this happened, making me about eight. I remember those yellow dice so vividly! I was so excited I brought the box home and opened up the B2 module spread out the caves map on the inside cover, all in non-repro blue, and tried to play with my dad, who did not understand what was going on, but probably understood more than me. This was the game? What were we supposed to do? What were the rules? Um…?

Two of them are just your average players with nothing particularly exceptional about them - one is more so on the quiet side, one is more talkative.
One is a giganerd that is extremely knowledgable about games like Arcanum and Wizardry, and can talk endlessly about nerd shit, but shuts up the moment the roleplaying begins and is very bad at combat.

Ye, she's the one who usually tries to play the "grizzled soldierman #2" or "sufferingcore youth on the way to suicide". She's a pretty damn good roleplayer who doesn't mind playing support for the party, but often ends up unintentionally stealing the show with crazy rolls.

She's also really fucking autistic so she can be mildly frustrating to deal with OOC, but not any more than other autists I've had.

My gf runs my current game and is a fantastic DM. She loves d&d, and even though she's also into CR, I still love her. We play with another couple, and the girl in that is a pretty good roleplayer.
My gf and I also play board games sometimes, she prefers coop games though. I once tried to play a wargame with her but she got bored and didn't understand the rules.

At least once a week (frequently more) with multiple women since about 2006.

Was fucking some of them, some of them were married to or dating other dudes, some were just friends, one was gay.

Only ever had a problem with two woman players.
One was autistic, and would freak out over seemingly (to the rest of the table) random shit.
The other wanted her character to be treated like a princess with extra powers that she had no reason to have except to make her feel more special than everyone else.

All of the others were cool and fun to play with.

Weekly game has two chicks in it.
They primarily are inattentive unless being directly addressed, complain about work and being incessantly exhausted, their characters are filler that are just kind of there for the one or two things the DM spec'd them into being capable of, and still need the system explained to them like it's the second session even though we're years into playing it.

My wife is getting into playing some Pokemon TCG lately on Pocket. Mainly a collector IRL but I'm encouraging her with some decks around her favorites. We just play kitchen table for now but I'd like to see her at the LGS doing more than just trading and watching.

My first ever D&D game had a woman in it. She was awful. This was 2011 so she was maximum lol so random and quirky and obviously wasn't really having fun but did it because it gave her nerd cred and so she could hang out with my roommate who she was sleeping with even though both were in relationships with other people.

Since then I've played with a few others. One for a single session of D&D where she bailed afterwards because the stinky weebs wouldn't shut the fuck up and were annoying. I ran Pokemon for 2 different women and they were fine and both games went dozens of sessions. Not the best but not the worst either. I tried to run D&D for a group with a girl but she ended up getting kicked before session 1 because she kept trying to stir drama between the guys in the group even though the guys had all known each other for years and she kept whining about personal shit.

I've had a lot of female players over the years, because I was a GM for my college tabletop club. Nerdy girls mostly, and they're very often the most raunchy players, making sex jokes and wanting to establish how big their characters dicks are-- even if they're playing female characters. Still, some of them have been really good players.

I don't think in terms of BMI measurement but if I picked one up, I would be considered encumbered.

If you're asking if they were obese, probably by some medical definition maybe. I would describe most of them as "stocky" rather than "fat". Too proportional to be called thicc.
They weren't thin busty models but (mostly) not round all over. If they had bellies they were well hidden.

Yes, as Gary pointed out many years ago, they lack the desire to commit genocide on goblins and orcs, thus are not as effective in playing D&D, they lack the vision of creating a stronghold to hold territory, they are far more Chaotic than any man playing a Chaotic character I've ever seen and always expect everyone to go along with their ideas, no matter how silly, then when they are not pampered, but held accountable they break.
