Once had a unit of repentia charge a Terminator squad + their general and dismantled them all, only losing two girls in return.

If you really want to play them try offering your opponent a chance to play a legends unit as well. If your opponent doesn't have a legends unit try offering to play against a homebrew stat'd unit in exchange for letting you play your legends unit. This is what I've seen happen at the LGS.

Honestly every edition I expect them to seal the great rift because it's basically done fuck all for the setting beyond giving writers an excuse to ignore half the galaxy and focus everything on a few key points. It's like now rather than the factions being able to be involved anywhere in the galaxy and Cadia being the front line between the Imperium and Chaos, we now just have two cadian gates and every faction is crammed in to both. Not to mention it's apparently super important to get between Sanctus and Nihilus despite the major events happening in Nihilus can be counted on one hand from when the rift opened.

So is it almost certain that orks make the 11e starter box?

I play neither, I'm just not dumb enough to put tau, votann and eldar in the same bucket as dark eldar, orks, necrons and tyranids.

As intro products, the two factions in the starter have to be easily digestible at a glance as "the good guys" vs "the bad guys" to a complete outsider, regardless of what's "akhrchually correct by lawr", and tau, vot and normal eldar will never cut it.

I think they're pretty good, they would need mostly one or two centerpieces and some heroes, more than anything that a starter can offer.

if tau were in a starter I'd not focus on kroots or tau, but vespid and other weirder looking alien enemies, halo primed a lot of people for that.

I'd say Chaos Votann but after how badly the latest AoS release went I wouldn't wish that on the 2 Votann fans in existence.

There's painting techniques I want to try when I get everything ready. But I need to get down which is the best primer for airbrushes first.

My base idea for 'spider models' is that they're not going to use my Red scheme, purple shadow and pink highlights (cartoony style). So i'm probably going with a slapchop approach with a white and gray shadow with a overlaying color like a yellow. It covers details and doesn't let detail rise too much.

I was planning on highlights tapped on by a light sponging rather than a drybrush tap for spiders, since I can pick the top end of the round limbs easily that way. Yellow may not make it past my testing but I've decided on a bright color that isn't red. So black details on the abdomen and eyes would be the finisher.

I was looking at common terrain and how people "fly through making it" and I see a lot of greys and dark tones and with all the legs would pop out and look menacing if they were a yellow, orange, white or pink model. If they were on a snow terrain, white would be out. So yellow/orange is the theme.

I'm assuming the models are too small(small parts) to get a proper color shift from the color shift paints. That would blend in the legs too much because most of them are dark or would seem dark.

So I hear about chipping, sponging, drybrush techniques. I'm looking for technique ideas to start during my testing phase.

Not sure of the yellow or orange I might use. I want to avoid looking like a common spider toy though. So menacing marks on the abdomen might be fun. I may just cut up a sponge and make a stamp with a pattern cut into the tape around the sponge. To make it super easy to put marks on the all-exactly-sized abdomens.

I learned in 3rd edition that I could use my 5 rhinos to tank shock armies in half and focus my 50 chaos marines on one half at a time. I would just need 2 of them to do it mostly, so when my other marines caught up it was over.

I started using the Land Raider in the mix to protect the rhinos and my deathstar was formed. I learned it before others showed it off online.

The milky way is roughly spiral disc-shaped, with most of its space dust and shit contained with a narrow plane, it's three dimensional obviously since its space but it's wayyyyyyyyyyyy flatter than it is wide, so you still have north/east/south/west directions on the galactic plane and then you can be above or below it (there's even that 40k image showing all the nids coming up from beneath the galactic plane). The gas plane is a few hundred to a thousand light-years thick but is like 40,000 light years (heh) wide before density of stars starts falling off and you get to more empty space

Depends what you consider to be a tank.

Dunecrawlers are deceptively tanky, between their 2+ and 4++. You could give them the eradication beamer or the phosphor cannon to clear infantry, if need be. Disintigrators shoot pretty well.
If you expand the definition a bit, you can include some Kastelans, which are pretty tanky and can do some serious work in melee. Give them an enginseer to follow them around and give one a FNP (honestly, if you're building a tank-heavy Admech list, you should probably have several enginseers dishing out this buff). If you want to expand it further, throw some ironstriders in there for relatively inexpensive units to move around and stand on objectives and lob decent shooting into targets. You'll probably want some ibmnfiltrators or Pteraxii to do secondaries. Your pick of whether you run it as Haloscreed or Cybernetica Cohort, a decision you should make based on the stratagem support (or enhancements, I guess) you want. Personally, I like the flexibility of Haloscreed, but if you like the look of cybernetica better, then just remember that all its strats happen in the command phase.

Toughness means nothing in a game with rerolls to wound and +1 to wound and a super simplified toughness chart. You can wound a warhound titan with chainswords just by charging them with something that's got Lance and rerolls, even ignoring all the other shit like lethal hits skipping wounds entirely, grenades and such as easy sources of mortal wounds, and all the buffs and stratagems each faction has

navigators have the added problem of being practically mutants, lets say you avoid the political problems of being tied to a navigator house because the dude is exiled or something, now he's 'simply' a mutant with psychic powers trying to find a way in a line of work chock full of people hunting down mutants and psykers with extreme prejudice.
This is not to say it's impossible, but it's to say that it makes sense for it to not be common at all unlike the easier closest thing of a navigator being an ally sent by a navigator house under the wing of an inquisitor.

"Acolyte" is an umbrella term.
