>TQ
Place an emphasis on their faith. They need to make the imperium look like a fucking joke.
>TQ
Give them one more shot by giving them a flameseekers-esque refresh/update
If it still doesn't work out squat them, so we can bring them back again 20 years later.
>>96165767I simply don't paint the trim. Even then it's extremely well defined on the sculpts and is very simple shapes. They have lots of flat, smooth surfaces and the trim on the robes is generally even more simple than the armor trim. They might still present their own challenge to paint like any other army but they are definitely not on the level of something like Hedonites that they're commonly paired with when people talk about painting difficulty.
>>96165831 (OP)TQ
Squat the old basic infantry dudes. They look like shit. Keep the heart guard and the shooter guys. Remake the basic dudes to have a bit more armor. They aren't ur gold runed the fuck out, they need more armor. Less armor (and more ur gold) means you are tough as fuck. Second, artillery. They need it. Straight up steal the magma cannon from the Chorfs, give it a cool golden magamdroth head barrel, job is good. Make it more close range- it wants to get points blank, but when it hits it fucking hurts. Finally, some sort of beast unit. People on here keep asking for mini magmadroths, no fuck that, but some kind of quick magma based beasts that can run around, maybe give them a handler.
>>96165903Congratulations
>>96165903Nicely done, anon.
>>96165831 (OP)>TQFull SCE redesign treatment.
Pteruges(?) & loincloths to give them a proper silhouette. Capes on champions and characters.
The same units that they have, all redesigned like the Flameseekers.
Magmadroth chariots, including a bigger battlecraft attached to a fully gown one, making something like the kill-rig from 40k.
Throw the pizza oven in the trash, and give them a big anvil, summoned so it sticks out of cracks in the ground on a pedestal of rock.
Mega-giga roided up ur-gold berserkers, swollen to the size of ogors due to the god juice in their bodies.
Golden magmadroth head sculpts as artillery.
Beer-maids, going around with barrels of that ale they have that I can' remember the name off, buffing their infantry up and or healing them.
>>96165903Based and ghyranpilled anon
Fuck it, when my paycheck clears I am going to buy the prior KO Spearhead/Vanguard box.
>>96165831 (OP)tq
>Give them new models for me to buy of course. Gotta have em
>>96166021Hell yeah, I literally made the same decision with my previous paycheck. I just couldn't get this out of my head

>>96166160People will look at that image and claim AoS doesnโt use AI generated art lmao
>>96166173Correct, because this image is older than AI generative art.
>>96166173that image is from their 2017 battletome.
>>96166173is this like a humiliation fetish thing
Post FEC models. Iโm seriously considering picking up the spearhead to get back into collecting. All of the models in the box are great.
>>96166084I have been building up a Dark Eldar army in 40k, but the KO have always appealed to me and I play their counterpart in Age of Fantasy.
>>96165469For the bronze trim on my death guard I use a base coat of Pro Acrylic โ Dark Bronze โ lightly stipple dry brushed with Balthazar gold. It creates a really nice ancient metal effect.
>>96166441Looks like he's been deep diving in the ocean, it's good.
What are some good colour combos for Skaven that arent red, orange or green?
I was thinking purple outer clothes and cream inner. Any other cool combos or pics?
>>96166599https://files.catbox.moe/3fwitl.pdf
Here's Uniforms and Heraldry of the Skaven, which is a little booklet from Fantasy featuring different Skaven clans and their color schemes
>>96166287ALRIGHT FINE, give me a second.
>>96166688I have a hard copy of that
But most of the schemes in it are red, green, black and brown
>>96166173>wtf this is way too complicated and detailed, must be fake!AOS haters literally cannot conceive of the level of kino AOS enjoyers experience daily. Their brains revolt trying to make sense of such quality.
>>96166051Lol 40keks are such ugly people
>>96166751Finally, representation for the FROMsoft fans.
>>96165831 (OP)>TQHonestly, aside from resculpting vulkite berzerkers? Not much. Maybe give them one more infantry kit with an alternate build, but beyond that I do as I've always done; accept that they're conceptually an army with a limited roster and game plan. I feel that most of what can be done to help make Fyreslayers compelling can be done with rules and lore; the Scourge of Ghyran Runeson on 'droth is a perfect example of this. I would personally lean heavily into them being mercenaries; give them good, and unusually flexible regiments of renown. Let basically any army hire them. Let KO, HoH, and CoS armies with a duardian general take up to 1000 points of them. If they're working for HoH, you cannot include any Fyreslayer priests. Also, let Magmadroths be terrifying; Godzilla breath should come standard. Also, add one to ward rolls when contesting an objective or in combat with an enemy hero; "you fuckers have ur-gold, I fucking know it."
My point is, the army has enough to be what it's trying to be, it's just on GW to not phone the battletome in for once. You don't have a lot of warscrolls, so fill the pages with dope ass shit. Fyreslayer heroes should be laden with enhancements. In addition to the usual Heroic Traits, Artefacts, and Monstrous Traits, you could have Lineages for Runefathers and Runesons; in essence, it'd almost be like an extra subfaction that only applies to your Runefathers and Runesons. Does your lodge's lineage have a reptuation for laying low the champions of their enemies? +1 to wound rolls when in combat with enemy heroes. Maybe they seek out the mightiest beasts to slay, +1 to wound rolls when in combat with enemy monsters. Maybe they have a reputation for fighting to the last, to see a job through? First time they die, roll a dice, and on a +2 they're back on their feet with that many wounds remaining, or that many wounds +3 if they're on a 'droth.
You know, just dope shit like that.
>>96166287I really wish we would get the word of gormayne again in the warhammer articles.
>>96166287Took me a second to get them out, and holy fuck terrorgheists are spindly. I got a few I'll just dump em.
>>96166857Also totally forgot I had some cryptguard in stasis and have yet to finish off my Crypt horrors. I should polish these guys off before I bring my ghoulies out. I really hate batch painting normally but I like ghouls.
>>96165831 (OP)TQ
I love the Fyreslayers, but when they were made they took to much from the Dawi Zharr (translated to Fire Dwarfs) and now that said Dawi Zharr are here, for real, in AoS, well now they have to compete with the real thing (be it in a different light), and whatโs really funny to me, as someone who read the lore of the Dwarfs in AoS, Fyreslayers are good but fight for evil if paid well enough, and here it seems like the AoS Dawi Zharr are on the borderline between Evil Chaos and Order, and well they hate Chaos now. Soโฆ what does that leave for the Fyreslayers?
Ur-Gold infused tattoos, well we got daemon infused gems that work for everything, you got wingless Taurus that you call magma drakes, well we got mechanical Taurus now. I donโt want to see the Fyreslayers squatted or rolled in with KO, but I feel like the team that made them really did not look ahead to the possible release of AoS Chorfsโฆ
Case in point, Iโm a 40k Dawn of War kiddy, and I got into tabletop with 40k (duh) but did go towards Fantasy in 2011 with their Chaos Dwarf LoA, it never really took off as I was trying to build a 90โs big hats, well then fantasy died and AoS came, and well I waited, I waited for 10 whole years to join, as Chaos Dwarf lore bits kept coming up, then the Hobgrots came with new lore and well, I waited some more, and here I am now ready to pounce on the AoS Chorfs. Now whatโs really funny, is that even now, with the AoS Chorfs on their way, Iโm still somewhat enticed by the idea of just going with the KO, as they are so damn neat and unique, something I can not say for the Fyreslayersโฆ
>>96165892Very tidy
>>96166857Your flesh recipe is fucking gross af dude. Also cool "S"
>>96165903The green wood turned out stellar
>>96166945I really wanna see that army book for chorfs, I know even in fantasy hashut was kind of...orderly, in comparison to the competition, but he seems much more neutral in aos. I dont really hate his implementation, making him be the one to get the shit end of ghur is both kinda funny, and does have a proper way of explaining the mutations.
>>96165831 (OP)>>Thread Question>If it was up to you, what would you do with Fyreslayers? Squat them, soup them with other Duardin, or give them a second wave/refresh the model range?redo vulkites with better poses and more varied equipment (great weapons, flails)
redo auric hearthguard with better designs (less chunky and longer magmapikes, different design for helmets more akin the smith, and capes)
squat hearthguard berserkes as a unit
add a chariot
add an auric mortar
add a generic kalkyrie character on winged pterosaur-like wyvern
add bael grimnir on a bigger salamander monster more akin to the art of vulkatrix, and in a dual kit that also makes you build his first runeson and his last runedaughter
redo the battle standard bearer
make a hero so covered in runes that he looks like he's wearing heavy armor
make a hero that's been stripped of all his rune and he's now mad and with a flaming stand of a vulkatrix-headed-grimnir behind him
update gotrek by having him find his old (and improved) axe, felix (as a stormcast), and maleneth but changed so she's no longer a filthy edgy khainite (make her become an idoneth in some convoluted way, or I dunno, convert to morai heg, the important thing is she stops looking like a dark elf)
rename them vulkadron fyreslayers then soup them with kharadron overlords into one big book of dwarfs
>>96166021>>96166084>>96166160The real question is why haven't any kharadron players paint fat anime tits on their botes
Is there a PDF of the Battletome available yet? If so, anyone please able to link it?
>>96165831 (OP)>If it was up to you, what would you do with Fyreslayers? Squat them, soup them with other Duardin, or give them a second wave/refresh the model range? They just need some (I know it's a skub word but can't think of another word for it) diversity to distinguish their kits, and perhaps expand the theme to allow for non-slayer looking guys. KO and FS can stay two different faction, but KO get to be the techy guys with the most advanced machines, and FS the traddies and barbarians. Also, ram cavalry.

I do hope we get more ghouls though, I do love the foot hero but I would love some more stuff.
>>96167090I mean, Kharadron riding big armored lava rams that live on volcanos would be the shit. Could have runes hammered into them, make 'em really stubby and give the slayers those chain weapons so they have a bit of range.
>>96165831 (OP)>If it was up to you, what would you do with Fyreslayers? Squat them, soup them with other Duardin, or give them a second wave/refresh the model range?Change nothing. The faction is for me and other enjoyers and I won't have you(who still wouldn't buy any regardless) ruin it for us like stormcast.
>>96166599This was a community post I thought was nice. It suits the Skryre warlock theme, but I'm sure it would look good on any rat.
I have some Eshin rats that I'll be painting dark purple/black.
>>96167065Some sexy nose art would be a cool addition to the Kharadon aesthetic. Though I guess sexy to them would be a dwarfette lounging on a pile of coins or something.
>>96165831 (OP)>If it was up to you, what would you do with Fyreslayers? Squat them, soup them with other Duardin, or give them a second wave/refresh the model range?Bling Dwarfs. Any part of their body that isn't naked is covered in gaudy precious metal. These are trophies awarded in honor of service and past campaigns, and particularly brushes with death, and can be used as a reliable meter of a dwarf's seniority (since beards get easily burnt off in this line of work). Monsters with bling, golden constructs, molten gold living spell, etc.

>Fire KingdomI feel like they'd be Helsmiths. They're industrialized, they like war, and they seem to have beards more often.
>Air NomadsLumineth. Easy, the Lummys have wind-based spells and units.
>Earth NationCities of Sigmar. The point of the Earth Nation is that it's the most basic one. Large, populated, etc. Cities are the most basic faction.
>Water TribeHard to choose. I don't think Idoneth really reflect them as much as Daughters of Khaine do. Daughters are divided by schism like the Water Tribe, they're very religious, and have a bit of a mystical streak to them. I know it's not AoS but the original Dark Elves had pirates so there was more of a water theme initially.
>>96167163Don't temp me anon, I'm trying to stop commissioning smut and save some money and remember this guy was in my little black book.
Also uhhh on topic, Fyreslayers I think are fine at a base level but could use just a few new units that aren't just a naked dwarf with an axe. At least give them one other thing a piece to make them unique, and maybe a cool named hero that isn't just Gotrek.
>>96167162Thank you, Anon!
I've been doing Warhammer as a whole for about 16 years now but it's pretty much exclusively been with 40k and a tiny bit of the other settings. The last few years have, honestly, completely sucked being in the 40k community. I don't mean to start shit flinging or anything over this but as I've gotten more and more aware of things for myself, as a queer person, as well as issues I've been facing because of that it's genuinely been horrible and I'm honestly so done with it.
How is the aos community, actually? I can only make judgements based on the things I see looking in or from people I've met and whilst it seems more laid back and chiller compared to 40k I wanted to ask here and see what people who've been in the community and this part of the hobby for a while think.
>>96167242Nobody gives a single fuck about who or what you want to fuck - unless it is kids, but you also have to not bring it up at every opportunity. Play the game, that is all.
>>96166173I would give anything for this faggot to have to come back here and pay the piper.
I hate AoS but you trannies really handled him. Absolutely curbstomped him. Well done.
>>96167242First, you're on 4chan, so obviously any community here will lean more /pol/tarded than usual. There are more queer-friendly 40k communities. I'm going to assume you're a smart enough person to have looked elsewhere for 40k communities and are still dissatisfied with it.
Overall I think the main difference in the AoS community compared to 40k and Fantasy counterparts is that we're generally more gameplay and style focused. AoS is known for having more rigid rules on how armies can look and play, and for having models that are generally very good looking. There also isn't that much slop about AoS, I think the community is just too small so what few people pander to us are more interested in their quality. The main issue I've had with AoS communities in my roughly 6 years with it is fearmongering. People love dooming over AoS dying or playing up faults in current editions (which are honestly minor, and I'd go as far as to say 1st and 2nd editions were crap) but such behavior seems to be common in every game.
>>96167140That looks cool. I am leaning towards something cool like purple or powder-blue or teal.
>>96167242Like anything it's about who you choose to surround yourself with. I've never seen any issues like that in 40k or aos when it's comes to in person stuff. Online communities will never perfectly match
our worldviews as individuals, but it's relatively simple to find some friends in person who are like minded.

No bald dwarves.
Itโs weird
>>96167526This man is based.
>>96167098>chud afraid of the bad word is ESLevery time, post your hand
>>96167090yeah, Fyreslayers need decorative elements like the Flameseekers to distinguish kits. Armour, helms, crests, extra bits of clothing, etc. Flameseekers don't even have much but the core infantry models stand out so much from a little belt and the draped kilt thing
>>96167090>and fyreslayers the traddies and barbariansBasically this desu. I would expand them one the one hand with heavily armoured, draconic themed hearthguard (picrel). Classic dwarfs essentially but with more of the 'celtic' dragon iconography like you see in this guys' helmet
>>96165960. Add some chariots and warmachines.
Then the other wing of the army I would make essentially the dwarf version of savage orcs, with a heavy focus on magmadroth-based armour and weapons (hides and fangs like with
>>96165865). Conan dragon dwarfs essentially.
>>96167546He also very clearly has hair
>>96166287>Post FEC modelsI have a somewhat scuffed version of the FEC spearhead, where 3/4 units are proxied from stuff i already had
>>96167039Ditto, I know not all Fantasy fans will agree, but for me this just confirmed the fan theory that Hashut was indeed a fallen Ancestor god. It always made the most sense to me anyway, as Chaos gods can not exist (for long) outside of the realm of Chaos (unless itโs the End Times), and Hashut was clearly bound to the Dark Lands, a place some distance from even the Chaos Wastes. Guess that means it was Hashut who bounded the Dawi gods in chains, now thatโs fucking funny, good for you Hashut!
>>96167092This isn't what's being asked or when it comes out.
>>96167816How can someone scan a book that's not released yet?
>>96167477I think everyone has that PDF with a few missing pages. Thankfully, it's pretty easy to fix PDFs these days.
Ask someone to make good pictures of the missing pages. Edit them in Paint (just cut a square field of the page and then paste it in a new Paint file, one page at a time). Save them as JPG. Remove metadata from pictures just in case (there are many free websites without any registration doing that, but Paint usually saves without any relevant metadata anyway, at least in my old version; you can use programs that also do that in batches, like ExifTool).
Then go to a PDF editing site like 24pdftools, convert images to a PDF document, then merge the book PDF and pages PDF, and then rearrange pages. Done.
You can also OCR it to use the search function, remove metadata from the PDF itself, and make bookmarks (for bookmarks, their field should be like a wide line from one side of the page to another when making them; otherwise, they will inherit zoom).
>>96167477We don't talk about the page 24 and 25
God I miss the days of official PDFs...
>>96167839Usually books leak through some guy making pictures on his phone, and then other enthusiasts are editing them and compiling them into PDFs. Sometimes people steal or buy things from warehouses or put them on Amazon, and sometimes it's GW itself dropping a few pages here and there. influences doing that to promote their channels, etc.
What do you guys think the chorf spearhead will look like?
GW has been releasing spearheads that fill in the gaps battleforces and army boxes leave, it seems.
If the army box is
>war despot
>10 melee infantry
>1 cannon
>1 golem
then the spearhead would maybe be
>3 bull centaurs OR the 5 man ranged guys
>10 more melee infantry
>ashen elder priest
>hobgrots
I think this would be a really good box, but maybe TOO good so I have my doubts. I think including a golem or artillery piece is out of the questions since GW is going to price them very highly and it would be hard to balance the spearhead game around an elite army's war machines. Or they would just rather not bother trying to balance it when there are other options. It would therefore be dumb to include a foot daemonsmith, the best model in the range IMO, in a box with no machines.
I for one will probably get a spearhead like this because I don't care a ton for the war machines right now. I really hope they get some kind of steam tank or gun battery like Skryre has. The daemonsmith on foot and the one on the taurus currently only have the golem to heal and support since I don't imagine you want any kind of damage being allocated to the artillery piece.
I think GW has a more machines in their backpocket, maybe a special chorf or alpha hobgrot you can attach to your hobgrots. A slow weapons platform/transport like the Deldar raider would also be cool. you could have your ranged guys sit in a mobile bunker, slow but tough.
overall the army seems very elite. So at least they'll be cheap, right?
>>96167892I predict war despot will be in the Spear and won't be a separate kit for now
>>96167708>'celtic' dragon iconographyYou're thinking of anglo-saxon iconography inherited from roman banners and Norse art. Neither of which look like picrel.
>>96167854Seems obvious to monetise it? GW lose money on physical only releases, especially when it's paired with digital unlocks and fucking Warhammer Vault cataloging a history of pdfs that have since dried up
>>96167892The army box is also a spearhead on its own isn't it ?
For their second spearhead I could see it being grots, guns, centaurs and either one of the priest build options. That's what I would do at least, but you're right that gw sometimes doesn't want their discount boxes to cover everything in a range.
>>96167948I mean I don't know shit about the intricacies of fyreslayer design but I thought it was kind of based on the carnyx
>>96168064Fyreslayers are actually Malaysian or something SEA inspired because of Kevin Chin but you're right, Dwarfs used to have straight up carnyx which became draconic trumpets later

I would imagine NH and FEC probably come some time next month and then I think DoK were also on that map too so it may be after them. 40k is quickly running out of releases to clog up the calendar with so AoS waves might pick up again by September.
>>96168208Before the reveal people were saying october. They still have to drop fec and nighthaunt so that's not too unlikely, although I could see them moving up to september. Depends on how 40k handles all the marines ig

>>96167892Assuming the box just doesn't get re-released as the spearhead too, just without the battletome, I think the spearhead will contain the bull centaurs, the ranged dudes, a hero and then a repeat of the army set, either the cannon or the war despot, depending on which kit they have the least faith in.
Can somebody give me a quick run down on how to play the nurgle spearhead? The model count is relatively low and the plaguebearers and leader die pretty easy.
I'm not exaclty sure what they're supposed to do since the leader is useless without nearby plaguebearers to boost but they're both squishy, and the blocking them up with the blightkings seems like a redundancy that just sacrifices board control.
>>96165892damn, thes are some of the cleanest prettiest paint jobs i've seen in a long time....

>>96167892They literally said on stream that the armybox is also the spearhead, there's no speculation needed.
>>96168418nta but they also said all armies would get 2 spearheads this edition, I wonder if that applies to chorfs too.
>play 40k purely on aesthetics and lore vibes
>main focus is on my Necrons army
>absolutely love narrative games with my friends where Iโm just the unstoppable slow moving horde
>start appreciating the amazing sculpts of AoS more and more
>want to branch out and try some of the cool mechanics in that game as well
>only faction that speaks to me is OBR
>love the vibe and their lore
>play style ends up basically being someone translating Necrons into AoS
Some might have been disappointed in this realization but for me it was a great coincidence and made me feel like my preferences are objectively K I N O.
>>96168357Ok, so you start with 4 units on the board. Two are shitty (the hero and the plaguebearers), but your hero can take the enhancement that hands out a fucking 4+ ward which makes every single one of your units on that particular objective obnoxiously difficult to kill and the blightkings effectively unkillable as long as you hold it. Nothing in Spearhead is cracking open a 3+/4++ efficiently. So, while it might look like your hero is there to support the plaguebearers, he's actually not. His main role is to hand out that insane 4+ ward, and his secondary role is to spit snot at people to rack up some extra disease points because you only put him in combat if you have to. And 14" is a huge area, there's no real need to keep him very close to the plaguebearers at all. So, with one objective on hard lock with the blightkings sitting on a goddamn 4+ ward, you gotta handle the rest of the board. Hopefully, your opponent is an idiot and actually tries to fight the blightkings on their objective (most opponents will, but if they do that, they're stupid), leaving your fly to handle a weaker threat, while the plaguebearers help it out with some control score (no need for them to fight unless it's a soft target). So now you got two objectives fairly secure, but getting more than that is the tricky part. Here, you rely on getting lucky with the cards (speed of death in sand & bone can be your very best friend) or trying to keep it as close as possible until your second fly comes in and scores you some more points. The damage output of the spearhead is abysmal, so the main goal is to focus on taking and holding a pair of objectives, and then using the speedier flies to hopefully score some cards.
>>96168456There's definitely some thematic overlap
>>96166945Yeah, Fyreslayers made me quite scared in the wait for Chorfs because of all the themes they both occupy.
You can bet your hat the reason why the official Chorf color scheme has green fire is because Fyreslayers exist.
We got into WHFB at the same time it seems. While I thought the hats were stupid at first I kinda fell for them as I watched other people hobby with them and make cool stuff. Now I like them.
I play KO! If you ever tried regular Dwarfs in WHFB KO plays like a dream, with super fast ships that let you fly around charging or shooting the enemy. It's almost therapeutic compared to the static Dwarf playstyle of old.
But I just could not get into the look of KO, despite owning 1.5k points of them. I just don't like the endrin engines. Their lore is actually really cool though.
HoH is definitely going to become my main army now. Welcome to AoS!
>>96168208Going by what is yet to release, and the other recent army box schedules, late September, early October.
And then the Bull Centaurs etc is likely December.
>>96168451Most armies that got two spearheads have two because their old one was replaced. Putting out two spearheads for a new army with a small range and no defined subfactions seems unlikely, at least for this edition. Obviously in 5th they will get a new spearhead.
Are there any good sources for alternate heads for KO? Female helmets, unhelmeted heads, etc. The Arkanaut Company heads are a bit too samey
>>96168456next you'll tell me the old world faction you're most interested by is tomb kings
>>96168456OBR lore might be my favorite in all of AoS, but their playstyle just hasn't hit home for me. Death in general is just the coolest grand alliance.
Also Katakross is awesome, fuck GW for being lazy cowards and glazing Archaon, LET HIM DO SOMETHING COLL AGAIN YOU FUCKS.
>>96167892I would expect an overlap of basic infantry and cannon, the underworld warband instead of a hero, then hobgrots just to spite people and make it a worthless thing to purchase multiple times.
robot and centaurs are money makers, so they stay sold as separate things, the gun infantry looks like crap but will be overpowered in rules so they can sell a ton of them
>>96168485Unfortunately all third party stuff I've seen is of atrocious quality, even by the generous standards of 3rd party minis. You'll have to source some different helms from the other kharadron kits. Ehat kind of stuff are you looking for, just more ornate or a different style of helmet entirely ?
>>96168487NTA, but TK just don't hit the Terminator vibe in the same way as Necrons and OBR do. Their regular troops are too shity, and they just don't really do the whole "march in perfect lockstep, replacing losses faster than they can be inflicted as their troops put themselves back together while horrific specialist units break harder resistance"-vibe of OBR and necrons. TK are more like a regular military force with a focus on chariots that also happen to be skeletons.
>>96168485Officially the new kit will have like 10 unhelmeted faces.
Unofficially there must be a lot of dwarf heads on the market
>>96168515I'd love to find some female ancestor helms, like we see in the art, and some unhelmeted heads both male and female. I don't want to replace all the standard Arkanaut heads, just have some variety to sprinkle in
>>96168485A lot of Votann heads will work but people will and should mock you.

Speaking of spearheads, it got kind of lost in the chorf debate but what do you guys think of the new spearheads ?
Crunching the numbers (in usd):
FEC clock in at 225, an 80 dollar discount, so pretty good at 35% off. On the other hand, a lot of value is in the two courtier set (60 dollars per kit btw what the fuck that's only 2 dollars less than kroxigors), and there's the warcry stuff which you may or may not be a fan of.
Nighthaunt end up at a dissapointing 191, so only a 46 dollars discount, or about 25%. Don't know much about nighthaunt so can't comment on the quality of the kits etc. Surprised they didn't recycle the pyregheists for this one desu.

>>96168559I wouldn't want a complete 1:1 of the old aesthetic in AoS, and this one doesn't fit with the new lore. Chaos iconography is out, and hammers are special now.
Beards and faces are good though.
>>96168559The body and weapons are a downgrade from gw's stuff, although I do like the fire skull thing. Shame the rest of the hammer is so lego-shaped. The main head they chose is awkward with the hole, but the two alternate options look great and is exactly what I wanted to see from gw, but alas. Overall 7/10 not bad for 3rd party stuff.

any predictions for new Tzeentch, slaanesh, and nurgle spearheads? their existing ones seem pretty good aside from maybe tzeentch.
>>96168612>nighthaunt all the infantry look the same to me. all i see are flying sheets, so I have nothing to add
>fecI was kind of dissapointed that you're getting so many old sculpts but i've never seen them in person so maybe they hold up much better than i think. other than that, I dont see much unit variety. I think it would be more interesting to me if they swapped 3 of the courtiers for something else.
unfortunately their range isn't big outside the characters, their old spearhead hogged up all the new shiny kits (which is what made it awesome), and the only thing left are the big dragons that they're def not putting in a spearhead. I don't swapping 3 of the courtiers for more cryptguard or ghouls would have been a good idea.
>>96168679>
How the fuck did he get that wrong it's basically the guy's job? Or is he one of those loretuber types that can't seperate headcanon from reality.
>>96168690Gaunt summoner
Blue and yellow horrors and either chariot or flying tzaangors for tzeentch
>>96168695>is he one of those loretuber types that can't seperate headcanon from reality.Bingo. The whole video is just full of him criticizing that it isn't like the good old stuff from his childhood, and asking questions he would have gotten explained if he read the article or watched the reveal stream.
But he doesn't criticize in good faith so who cares really. It's just funny.
>>96168701that sounds pretty cool actually. I think the disc tzaangors would be cooler
>>96168690>I was kind of dissapointed that you're getting so many old sculptsTo be fair to gw all the new FEC sculpts (outside of characters) are already in the old spearhead, it was either this or they add some underworlds stuff like they did for seraphon. I do hope this means a courtier refresh down the line.
Dunno about tzeentch and nurgle but I figure slaanesh will be getting something based around daemons, since the current spearhead is all mortal. Daemonettes, fiends, throw in some of their chosen equivalents.
Does anyone have the new khorne points?
>>96168792They release those on war om now, so they can't really leak early.

>>96168858harrows are such a weird kit, just two small cavalry dudes, don't really see that anywhere else. I figured it was just a quirk from the soul wars box, but apparently they weren't even in that ? Just odd. I like em though.
>>96168868The Khul? More like 'the Queer' lmao gottem

FeC is good in theory, but holy fuck this just feels like they're dumping stock before updating horrors. Also you can probably find their relaunch army box cheaper and then just buy a couple of the warcry ogors to get a better horror sculpt.
>>96168892There was a singular Harrow in the soul wars box, IIRC. Always felt like a character kit that got turned into a normal unit for "reasons".
>>96168868Huh, I don't know in that case. Is it possible they're the referring to that dude as 'the khul' in the same way you would say 'the irishman' or 'the italian' or something ?

other than that your plaguebearers look for another obj and your FLY can either flank to take out their backline and complete tactic cards, and take open obj. Your general sits behind your kings and sneezes to farm disease points. The win con is taking the 3rd obj and finding a point advantage. Am i getting the general gist of it? Do i take summoner of plaguebearers or the d3 heal? I think the heal looks better personally. Thanks for the detailed reply btw, I really appreciate it.
>>96168892There's been a theory around that the 2e launch stuff was rushed. Many of those models have both push fit versions and full kits of the same unit, Harrows were probably a push fit test intended to be in the box as a new hex wraith that never got a complete kit due to time.
>>96168901>updating horrorsyeah right, keep dreaming.
>>96168902there is not, that's the mounted knight of shrouds.
>>96168921Then gorgers it will be. I did slap a really cool accessory on my courtier to help differentiate him though. Had some leftover terrain bits and made him a cool shield.
>TQ
Refresh oldest kits, introduce more fire monsters, subterranean ambushing lava worms, living flame constructs, skirmishing quick mini magmadroths, medium sized magmadroths that are basically fyreslayer themed Salamanders from the seraphon army. Give them an anvil of doom type kit, manned battlefield shrine type thing. An artillery piece that causes volcanic eruptions under enemy models. So much cool stuff you could do with fire and seismic theming. Aside from refreshing their base troops I wouldn't release anything that boils down to dwarf with axe.
>>96168924Ah, right...I bought soul wars but I never did anything with the Night Haunt stuff. Can't remember the last time I've seen anyone field that guy though.
>>96168906I always want these fuckers to actually post models, but they either ignore or deflect every time. I'd unironically want to know if they #1 have models and #2 what army they play. It's what really bugs me when someone is bitching about a release for a faction and then they don't own anything from said faction. It's like fucking clockwork.
>>96168964ballista that launches molten stalagmites. Dwarf thats a stalagmite caber tosser.
>>96168990To be fair they might not want to attach their dogshit opinions to models in case they actually posted them before or want to post them in the future. I'm sure 90% of the time it's just shitstirring tourists though.
>>96168904sounds like it. In general the new tome is written pretty good. Not having half a dozen mistakes per page is better than the deepkin book.
>>96168845>book was subtitled Book One of the Khul on release>a second book was never orderedThat was an odd one.
>>96168907Optimally, you go first and run up to the objective (your blightkings can likely take almost any punch your opponent can deliver) but if you don't get to go first a few different things can happen.
In the absolute worst case scenario, you can't reach any uncontested objective and also whiff the charge your opponent has given you to create that board state (blightkings should always deploy on the line, so they'll be 6" from the center line, which means they're 2" away from that line after their move, so worst case scenario, you're doing like a 6ish inch charge if your opponent is toeing the larger objective in the center of Dolorum). If that happens, you're gonna struggle, since the absolute worst case scenario for the spearhead is your blightkings getting locked in combat away from ANY objective and completely unable to reach any (if they get charged the first turn, they can either move back to the home objective or they get more fight phases to slug it out. They should beat pretty much anything in a 1v1). But hopefully, you land that easy charge and now you're fighting over an objective and gets to land the first punch as well, even if you don't get to set up the 4+ ward as easily. If you don't get an easy target for it, you should pretty much always be able to get it on your home objective, making even plaguebearers much tougher to shift from it. Remember that once it's desecrated, the hero doesn't have to stick around, he can waddle off towards the next objective you wanna poop all over.
Your plaguebearers should either be securing an easy objective from teleports or sneaky grabs, or adding their CS to the fly so it can actually take objectives from the weaker, more numerous units it likes to bully.
I'd say go for the heal every time, the mortal wound seems nice at first glance, but you just don't have the bodies to make it count properly, and every time you roll a 3 on healing a fly your opponent will groan in pain.

>>96168612FEC is 4/10 for me. The amount of crypt horrors in FEC spearhead reminds me of their dawnbringer box, I bough them at discount because nobody wanted them at local store (and I used them for the classic grotesques kitbashes). And it makes me paranoid, what I find suspicious that there is no terrorgheist. SBG have now the new zombie dragon, the terrorgheist kit is old... I guess FEC will have christmas battleforce, with terrorgheist, two cryptshit units, and GW will clear the shelves to introduce new vargheists for soulblights, and new crypt horrors, crypt flyers and terrorgheists next year - all separate kits, no dual kits. Even if I was into FECs, would wait for battleforce announcement.
Nighthaunts look great, 7/10, don't like the push-fit horses (do you even run them in two?) but other than that it's solid, for new player it's easily buy two, throw in some grimghast reapers and characters and you have basic army. For somebody who already has nighthaunts... they had better boxes, the Legion of Grief battleforce with lady and black coach is unbeatable and can still be found for sale. Which might be good way to 2000 pts, the battleforce, the current vanguard/spearhead and the new spearhead, and you will just need to add characters.

>>96169820True, two horrors might be too much... and one would be just copying their old start collecting box. To not copy it in the battleforce, they will go full Gristlegore. Two terrorgheists, two units of crypt flyers and abhorrant ghoul king as the character.
>>96168673nah, warhammer dwarf women have always been beardless, although admittedly dwarf women are not something there was ever much art or discussion of back in the whfb days, most of the existing art of dwarf women in warhammer comes from aos (and 40k if you count the votann, although they arent strictly speaking dwarfs, but abhuman clones)
warhammer online did have a lot of dwarf women including making them playable for all classes but slayer (and one questline even mentions a female slayer in one of hte level 10 questing zones), and while this wasnt made by GW directly, it was officially licensed and never de-canonized, refuted or disowned by GW as non canon like disney did with the star wars EU, so the games content should still be more or less applicable to the warhammer lore

>>96170188i.e. the grey seer warscroll is for the independent model so it's not like the option to use the spare grey seer if you build a plague furnace is gone. Meanwhile the plague priest didn't have a warscroll separate from the leftover after they squatted the resin priest so they removed it.
GW may just hate Pestilens though.

>>96170261Sounds like a load of... falsehood to me
Any lumineth enjoyers able to give me some purchasing advice?
I bought a spearhead+the lumineth half of that tzeentch box and a few other doodads. I'm sitting on 20 Sentinels, 10 wardens, 10 bladelords, a Cow, 5 stone guard, Mounted hero, Enlightener, 5 (Ellyrian Reavers) Windchargers, and a wind mage, cathallar and a High elf mage I'll probably use as a Caligrave. What should my next purchase be? I'm thinking another box of wardens and bladelords so I might just buy another spearhead and sell the archers and cathallar. But someone said maybe twins and riverblades should be my next pickup.

>>96170286>>96170322Iโd say 5 more dawnriders to have a reinforced unit and the Twins. Maybe 10 more wardens. Bladelords are excellent but who knows if they get slapped with nerfs whenever the tome comes.

on a serious note, they arent unplayable, but it is very clear someone on the writing team responsible for gitz fucking hates them. they do have a few very good units like boingrot bounders and squig herd, and the trolls are alright, but like, all of their new wolves are bad, mangler squigs are bad, spiders are bad, the spellcasters are a joke and their lores are garbage and it seems worse in this edition than its ever been.
it says a lot about the army that its best units are the ironjawz hurtlin hogs regiment of renown and kragnos
collect the army, its an amazing range, just understand going in that you are in for an uphill battle fighting against the rules, and gitz have kind of always been that way, but it is especially noticeable this edition

occasionally it will leave a white residue on the model, if it does just get a dry toothbrush or paint brush and dust it off. water will make the pwder adhere again and it wont come off, but a dry dusting will get it off the model, it doesnt effect the model itself, just some kind of powder residue.

Saw these randomly pop up on an old webstore and man, I'm curious how many of these got sold. Would genuinely be surprised if they reached beyond triple digits. I see a decent amount of stormcast irl but it's always one of the two default schemes or someone own paint scheme, never one of the other 'named' colour schemes.

Fatcast had some neat stuff though, always like their art deco lightning wings. The knight venator in particular was really cool.
Personally I always thought sacrosanct looked the worst, except for the guys with the based magic grenade launchers. Something about the tabards always just looked off to me, aswell as the weird hammer shape.

>>96172093Yeah looking back it's pretty funny how blatant gw was with the sigmarines thing. Like yeah passively you know that's what they're going for with the whole faction but they used to be absurdly obvious about the whole thing. The way they were organized in different stormhosts of different 'strikings', their whole hierarchy, even some of the specialist models being a pretty 1 to 1 translation, for example lord relictors and chaplains. I'm sure someone who actually knows their shit about space marines could find many more examples. But yeah, the different stormhosts being like chapters in popularity never really took off (fortunately for the rest of us...)
>>96172069>>96172092the other thing about the fatcast vs slimcast is that people are trying to go liberator to liberator, but almost no one collects stormcast for the liberators, its the elite units that really matter, and in that respect its absolutely zero contest, the new slimcast, weather its dragons or the new ruination guys, just blow pretty much all other stormcast out of the water
Are Wight-only armies viable in Soulblight? Sentient skeletons are my favorite flavor of undead. How "elite" would just Wights be considered?
>>96172126Go choke on your mindless contrarianism, you short shit.
>>96172164I can't believe how much better these are than the fatcasts, seeing them so recently now to compare them. These guys have much better faces than the new liberators too.
Given how much time I've spent professing my hate of SCE over the years it feels almost wrong to say this, but I actually like these...
>>96172181If you run a ton of Barrow Knights, with wight kings/lords with the regular SGBL battle traits I argue they're even competitive.
The Barrow Knights is one of the best units in their whole book, and they need a wight hero to gain their 5+ ward which is what makes them so tanky.
Their AoR is bad, they really need the healing in the regular battle traits.
I don't think they're awful, but they're definitely suddenly a lot better when you start to compliment them with other units.
>>96169900they called him a fallen ancestor god most recently, right? on the reveal stream or something (so grain of salt) but in that case he wouldn't necessarily have a spot in the realm of chaos. probably has some sort of extradimensional pocket or demi-realm tho.

and painting it like trim makes the model objectively worse
>M-maybe fg k-kill my...yourself?! moom!repeat that without crying, faggot
>>96172181There's an army of renown that lets you do exactly this but iirc it's garbage and you're better off just running all skellies in a normal sbgl list. Probably want at least a necromancer for magic though. Barrow knights are great, normal skellies and barrow guard are pretty good, you can certainly make it work.
>Malerion versus vampire coast
Itโd sell gangbusters to have two, actually new ranges in the next edition. Although vampire coast could just be a grand alliance army that borrows and gives a little bit here and there to other factions, kinda like imperial agents but not shit.
>>96172358>Malerion versus vampire coastnot happening
you'll get casts vs zombies
>>96172181Pretty viable, normal skellies aren't really elite, but if you go barrow knight heavy (their best unit anyway) it could have a pretty low model count.
>>96172283Yeah I'm not fully clear on whether or not Hashut is actually still a chaos god or just a normal "evil" god (a la khaine or stromfels in whfb). I'm assuming yes since they're still part of the chaos faction, but their relationship seems to be prettt weird. I hope that means a chaos realm, would be interesting to hear what that entails.
>>96172358After HoH why would you want them to port more fantasy factions over? Do you want them to make vampire coast shit with their art deco reimagining too?
What would be a good method to recreate the teal glow here? By looking at it it looks like it would be about Incubi Darkness for the darkest part of the glow in the picture and Nihilak Oxide for the brighter part. But I'm dogshit with colors. Not color blind, just retarded.
I like Gloomspite masks and helmets, can I somehow greenstuff them on SoC/StD bodies or the proportions would be too fucked up?
If yes which models would you recommend for a melancholic knight feel?
>>96172440For sure. They work fine on man sized stuff
>>96172283According to the new WD he's a dwarven ancestor god, and is trying to become a proper chaos god.
>"There's another shadow burning with desire to have a claim on such elemental godhood, too: Hashut, the deity of the duardin Helsmiths. Still, as an ascended god, Hashut is in with even less of a chance of being considered a true Chaos God than the Horned Rat.""Ascended god" is the term they use for all the elf, dwarf, and ex-human (including Nagash) gods. Hashut apparently got assigned Ghur, like Grugni got Chamon, and Grimnir got Aqshy. But he was not in Sigmar's pantheon.
"Elemental god" is what they call the 5 chaos gods, and Gorkamorka. They are of the warp, and did not use to be mortals.
The "fallen god" moniker is something I've called him on here, and elsewhere. So you might have read one of my posts.
>>96172181skeleton aor sucks, like it's both not fun and below average.
I would say on a level of viability, going all skeletons is like 5/10? Their skills don't really make much sense between all of them. The wight king on steed gives a -1 save debuff to the target but the barrow knights and barrow guards do mortal damage. He also picks a point in enemy territory to get +1 hit while you're wholly within an objective. Which is hilarious because they aren't very mobile (even the barrow knights are not especially fast cav), the +1 hit doesn't actually bump their damage up much (because again, they do mortals), and if they blob up they may not necessarily get the benefit being on the point because they're not wholly within. The wight king on foot gives out exploding hits, which doesn't stack with the mortals they get, so he's also pretty pointless aside from being a cheap hero to enable the barrow guard ward.
So yeah, you're left with spamming barrow knights which is less about doing decent damage and more about just pinning people. Which is incredibly boring for both players.
SBGL is unfortunately more slanted toward running vamps with some token barrow knight units and maybe a couple throw away skeletons at minimum strength to screen or do objectives.
If you're real keen on running skeleton heavy, maybe throw mannfred, one of the two radukars and necromancer in there, and pray you can roll a 3+ after spending a command point to fight twice.
All the TOW faggots are crying about how they dont have the new Chorfs and how GW "forces them" to play AoS or buy them to convert them to TOW. Hahahaha
>AoS players with Cathay: woooowww, cool army, i will use it like CoS alter
>TOW players with Helsmiths of Hashut: noooooo!!! Fuck you Games Workshop!! You ruined everything!!! I dont want to buy them!! I dont like the new look!! Why are you forcing us?!?!?! We want the old ones!! I will have to buy them to convert them!!
>>96172035Order of Azyr would make way more sense as a couple characters and a unit or two in the CoS tome than as a full separate army.
I would love to see them tho. Warpriest, generic Witch Hunter, and some kind of elite bodyguard/purgation unit for them. I'd fuck with that.
>>96173119thats fine, they dont have to buy it. im still like 98% sure that the old forge world line is going to get repackaged for ToW so they can play with that, and for dudes who want that really really old aesthetic of the early 90s metals, there is an artist out there who did the whole range really well and then gave it away for free, so they can just print an army that way, or take any one of the dozens of print designed chorf ranges
>>96173119>NOOOO WHY *thing i like* HAS CHANGED! I DONโT WANNA DADDY GW!!! WaaaaahSounds like your typical groggy behavior
>>96173209this but unironically
>>96169776Heโs a chaos worshipping duardin, but not one that worships Hashut. The iron golems are their own little multi-species empire. You wouldnโt call a wanderer from settlerโs gain a Lumineth just because theyโre an aelf that also worships Teclis
Kind of interested in the regiments of renown chorfs will provide for chaos. I have to ASSUME that the artty will be in one package, I wonder how im gonna make it look fitting for my tzeentch army...
>>96166173youre fucking retarded
>>96166173This is obviously bait. No one can have the brain so decomposed and be alive.
>>96172043I think both are neat for different reasons, they feel fairly different from one another
Does anyone have the PDF to Broken Realms: Morathi or Galene of Ulgu, bros?
Ive been looking all over...
2nd game of spearhead today, spent 30 minutes debating how terrain works specifically the cover rule.
His interpretation was that a unit wholly within 3" of the large wall terrain features would get a cover save for holding the terrain feature. I said there's no way thats the way its intended, it would mean if a unit is standing in front of the wall they would get a cover safe from shooting, being behind it would be obscuring.
>>96172489Radukar the beast is so fucking fun to use
>>96173875I don't have Galene, but please enjoy the peak of AoS narrative. Here's hoping this edition's campaign is better than Dawnbringers.

>>96173968Bro you are such a chad ily
Take this morathi pic as a reward
>>96173962If you can draw a straight line from the base of a model in your unit to the base of a model in his unit, it is not behind cover. If you cannot draw the line without hitting the terrain feature, it is behind cover.
Certain abilities may trigger based on being within combat range (3โ) of a terrain feature, but benefitting from cover is not one of those.
>>96174138I could kind of see where he was coming from, he was saying that it represented them taking cover behind the wall. "why do they have the cover keyword if you can't use it as cover"
I tried to explain the "wholly on or behind" requirement for it to receive a cover bonus as the terrain rules need to account for forests, fields, ruined buildings and other types of homemade terrain in the main AOS game. He said if they "control" the terrain feature like an objective (used for battle tactics and that green side twist) that it grants them the bonus. He's very much a case of the type of gamer that does "creative use of game mechanics" but I just couldn't accept that the intention of a cover rule would be for a unit line up against a wall like a firing squad would be granted a cover save from shooting. I haven't played tabletop since 40k 3rd edition so am still trying to learn the changes and forget base assumptions
>>96173119No one is saying that.

>>96174102>>96174347You need to build up you AoS Morathi gallery. The one from Total War doesn't really work.

>>96175202I would have been down for that.
>>96175201aye, contrast slop but you sometimes chances upon a single colour you like. I might steal the kahki recipe in the middle for example
>>96172155stormhost are subfactions, literally every single army in both aos and 40k have different subfactions, stupid thing to bitch about.
>>96175201its just a way for them to show different paints on models i guess, noone in their right mind would think they look good
>>96172181Basic skeletons suck and you'll have no wizards. Having Vargheist for mobility and contesting far objs is also a big deal.
>>96175212Stormhosts were deliberately implemented as Chapters just as Stormcasts are based upon Marines. They started selling upgrade packs and probably planned for more diversity but the scale of such was beyond their means at the time.
Subfactions are natural, Stormhosts are forced.
>>96173209There's a deeper symbolic significance to it that really drives them into a rage, its an overt signal that AoS is and will remain the main game for fantasy.
>>96175223>Subfactions are natural, Stormhosts are forced. This makes no sense whatsoever, and you fags would be drooling all over it if they released vampire subfaction sprues.
>>96175212Of course, but the way stormhosts are organized, and how they are founded in different 'striking' is very intentionally modelled after marines and their different chapters. How many other subfactions did they (try to) sell upgrade sprues for ?
>>96175249its not modelled after marines, marines chapters were formed by rediscovering lost primarchs on conquered worlds during the crusade. Stormcast were made in a magic factory like new upgraded iphone versions.
>>96175243GW said they're marines. They have chapter adjacent organisations of distinct Stormcast which were promoted as though they were chapters.
It's not the case anymore but you're reaching to act as though it wasn't. Don't bother posting it you know nothing on the subject
>>96175270>They have chapter adjacent organisations of distinct Stormcast which were promoted as though they were chapters.this is word salad.
add it to the list of dumb shit people on this thread will argue over

>whether or not kruleboyz are inspired by old orc designs
>stormhosts being based on marine chapters
