Any more avatar spoilers yet?
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>96173161How much did you pay for this shit proxy
Okay, so how do I buy singles on MTGO? Found a nice pauper deck thats like 2 tix, and I would like to start with it to learn the interface.
Is mono color based? I kinda hate knowing my land based in my 3 color esper deck is worth $100 just by itself when the krenko players land base is $5
>>96173212Mono color is the most based thing you can do in EDH
>>96173219Gimme a rank on best mono color commanders
>>96173212It is. You have a more streamlined style and you end up getting to use a bunch of different cards that help your color's weaknesses. For example getting to use white card draw, ramp and counters.
Mono green and black would probably be the easiest to start with.
>>96173212Depends on the commander
>>96173225Just check EDHrec lol
just won third place at my LGS' duel commander tournament, feeling pretty happy about it
everyone say hi to balmor
How many tokens are too many?
I filled a bundle box full with tokens for just one deck
>>96173297cool, anon. what were your matchups?
>TQUninterested outside of maybe singles if it has any cards I really need for my decks.
In other news, got back from my LGS, had a lot of fun with Tidus and Golbez today. \
Tidus even beat a Ral deck in a 3-man pod because I just really kept swinging and had Auron to threaten removing Ral if he ever cast him without absolute certainty he'd win that turn. (I also demo-field'd his Thunderous Falls so he ended up short on red mana by grabbing an island)
>>96173297Hi, Birdmor
>>96173297Balmor is a BASED commander for duel commander
>>96173297AYYY WE GOT A WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER OVER HERE
>>96173316round 1 was Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel; went 2-1. relatively simple matchup, just go under the counterspells, when i drew enough threats i won and lost otherwise. MVPs were Gut Shot and Finale of Promise.
round 2 was Kellan, the Fae-Blooded; I really didn't have any artifact hate worth naming but still went well, didn't really need it. went 2-1 again and lost in the round where he could reliably equip Umezawa's Jitte on Kellan while I flooded with six lands on top on a row, with double strike i basically had to kiss my hopes of anything entering the field and living for more then a minute ever again.
round 3 was Gut, Gut, True Soul Zealot. I went 1-2, guy's deck was really fine-tuned. won only when I was able to get Finale of Promise off, it continues to be the MVP.
round 4 and last was Slimefoot and Squee, 2-1 again. I found it eh. My loss was to a round where Inti, Seneschal of the Sun was able to buff Slimefoot every turn and I didn't draw any answers; all the other times it was just a large brick.
>>96173299there's a guy on youtube that made a deck where each card makes a different token
>>96173130 (OP)>Now that the dust has settled, how do you feel about the set "Marvel's Spider-Man"?I've liked and enjoyed most of the UB stuff, except the Walking Dead cards. I've been cringing VERY HARD at all the Spiderman cards that've been shown so far. They are very bad.
>>96173297any Aragorn/Deadpool fags over there?
>>96173389It seems like a starter deck got leaked, no wonder most of the cards are wack
>>96173299I have a full box of tokens but end up mostly just short-handing my infini-tokens, I get a little giggle writing Homo Horde with a shitty Mike Wazowski drawing whenever I play my blue draw deck.
>>96173399We play with a price limit in our format variant (funnily enough, most stores in cities near us don't count the commander for price limits, but we do) so Deadpool is priced out of the format by taking half the deck budget by himself, and Aragorn the Uniter runs into the same problem but with manabases. there's one girl who brought Aragorn over once but not this time; this time she was with Zurgo Bellstriker.
>>96173297Shit this looks like a fun commander, especially doubling up on Prowess stuff. What's the best way to flood the board in blue/red?
>>96173425Cori-Steel Cutter, Young Pyromancer, Third Path Iconoclast. You really don't need to flood the board, though; with enough cantrips Balmor can make just some 2/3 creatures into a serious threat.
>>96173436>with enough cantripsYep that was gonna be like half the deck. First priority was finding stuff like Young Pyromancer/Third Path cuz I knew of those two. And then red has a shitload of "your creatures have haste" stuff to immediately have them attack. Kinda tempted to throw in some storm stuff as well because I know I'm gonna be casting a ton of shit every turn
>you cant just ban spiderman and avatar from your tables

>>96173897i wanna build vivi but i dont think id actually get a chance to play him without being a game ender the moment hes cast
maybe i can make a somewhat less nuclear version
>>96173130 (OP)>TQi never really cared for superhero stuff and i dont play cards i dont like so i kinda just ignored it entirely
>>96173779Most of the rest of my Casual LGS are pretty good/well intentioned but there's just this odd intersection of players that play high power things without any context of "you have chosen a viable strategy, my way of dealing with that can in fact be stopping you from doing your thing, rather than just trying to do my stuff HARDER" and that this isn't actually a toxic thing for me to do.
That's part of why I've really enjoyed building my Yshtola deck; the payoffs I've put in are more passive, so I can actually put in a lot more interaction and this has meant that nobody just runs away with the game and they've subsequently been much more interesting games.
>>96173577Pirates are one of the funnest tribes and their theft is absolutely fair. Run more chump blockers and removal.
>>96173932vivi is the worst kind of commander slop
why bother putting a storm payoff in your storm deck when your commmander is a mana dork that's also a storm payoff at the same time lol
>>96173948That has to be the fairest theft I've ever seen. Three gd pirates? Literally just block/remove them
>>96173897Even based on the one spoiler we have so far, the Avatar set is going to be more powerful than Spider-Man
>>96173932I really donโt think there is a way to make a โfairโ version of Vivi. Even the way I built him with my spare chaff (all the cheap one and two mana do thing, draw card(s)) is still able to go off really hard and fast. Only downside to Vivi is Izzet doesnโt have the best non-counterspell protection outside of Slip Out the Back so you really donโt want to cast them unless you know you can protect them. Good idea is to supplement them with cards like Coruscation Mage, Guttersnipe, etc. so youโre not entirely reliant on the Commander to win games. My favourite way of winning with them currently is via Mizzix Mastery. One of the first cards I ever got during my second failed attempt to get into MtG in late high school so glad it actually has a use now.
>>96173939im used to building somewhat stronger decks, im waiting to see what randoms we start to get at our new shop, but playing with my friends has been fun considering they already wanted to play much stronger stuff while learning
ive been enjoying enchantress yshtola, i dont really play defensive decks, but running extra counterspells and protection to make sure she stays on board instead of just stopping others from playing has been kinda fun
>>96173956no? you can't block. your creatures are already stolen and are pirates.
>>96173961i wish he was slightly less broken since hes my favorite character in 9, atleast zidane will be a fun casual deck to play, but i still really want to build vivi since ive also never built a spellslinger deck
maybe il just build kuja
>>96173974Shit I can't wait for "Myriad but against the same defending player". There's bound to be some aura/equipment that'll do that soon
It's pretty wild when you stop and think about it. Most players are still vibing on FF, EoE isn't even out yet, a chunk of Spider Man is spoiled, and we have an Avatar card. We're already 3 sets ahead for previews. This absolutely can't continue, even the most soiboi of consoomtards can't maintain such a constant state of investment.
>>96173960True the multicolour Avatar looks powerful but I do wonder how powerful the set as a whole will be. I cannot find the source but I remembered after LotR came out WotC said UBs would be Commander and Modern exclusive sets before changing their mind, and at that point I imagine some of the FF UB cards would have already been made and be close to (if not exactly) their final printings. It also felt like power ratio between a lot of the Rares and Mythics in FF really wide (more-so than other recent sets), but maybe thatโs just the way it will be from now on.
>>96173982A myriad pirate would be kino as shit. I hate aetherdrift more than anyone else because we finally got new pirate cards and instead of being evasive/theft/treasures like most of the rest are it was a bunch of retarded faithless looting draw discard shit.
I've never watched avatar but do they have pirates? I'd like a reason to care about anything until Lorwyn. At least FF gave us 1 good pirate support card even if they were such massive retards that they made Vaan a Scout type instead of Pirate tribal. Goddamn I'm still mad as fuck about Aetherflop pirates and Scout Vaan.
>>96173973Funnily enough, I used to have a Noyan-Dar deck that I recently converted to Lyse Hext based solely on getting her as one of the two promos in my Bundle. She does very similar things to Vivi except she wants to Voltron spell-sling before smashing opponents in the face rather than burn the table to death. Regardless, itโs been a very fun deck to use so Iโd recommend that if youโre torn on Vivi but want to make a deck like him. Plus with white in her colour pool you have a lot more protection available.
>>96173983A lot of people I know who bought into FF have set that was it for this year, and Iโve seen a few posts on Reddit with high hundreds to look thousands responses saying the same thing. I think SM and Avatar will sell well, but nowhere near the level of FF.
>>96173814>>96173897guys, the spiderman spoilers are a starter deck reveal. get a grip.
>>96174020I have a grip on my PINGAS
>>96174022if this was doctor wily instead of eggman would people complain less about the colors?
>>96174032Honestly the color bitching is overblown for Eggman at least. I can kinda see complaints over the others, but in effects and in character, UBR seems appropriate for Robotnik.
>>96174068Knuckles being mono red and not Gruul or even Naya still bothers me. Not sure why they made him the only mono coloured one.
>>96174112The lack of green in general in the fucking 90's environmental series is really offputing. I can only imagine it was due to SEGA autism.
>>96174112They clearly wanted tails, Amy and knuckles to be able to fit in a deck with Sonic as the leader
>>96174032The colors are absolutely fine. It's one dude who gets mad that most pop culture villains fit in Grixis.

>>96173998>Scout VaanFucking same. Also it's bullshit how after all this time these are the only ways to give myriad to your creatures. What I wouldn't fucking give to have that enchantment in other colors
>>96174150One of the guys in my pod made an attractions deck that turned out surprisingly competent. It's probably not going to escape the atmosphere of planet "3", but they can be fun and good.
Make sure you know how all your cards work though; the last thing a table needs is more cards that people have no idea how they work.
>>96174155House uses comically rigged 20 sided dice for his effect, your dice have to go ice cold for multiple turns in a row for him to wipe out.
>>96174155The number of "open an attraction" cards in his colors is fucking grim. I tried building it and I think there was like 10 total? Just not possible. You'd have to cheese the fuck outta it with mass repeating flicker
>>96174155House uses d20's for an ability made for a d6
>>96174150There's really only one good commander: Myra the Magnificent. If you don't like this idea/archetype then the only other choice would be Yarok since almost all the open attraction cards are ETB effects
I've always wanted to build golgari self-mill.dek, but never got around to it. I'm interested in a deck that wants to dump itself onto the graveyard as fast as possible. Thinking about either the Mycotyrant or Jarad, what do you guys think? Any other suggestion? Jarad seems extra nice just because he cheats on commander tax for himself
>>96174179Take the GAAK pill
Speaking of miscolored cards, how the fuck is House red? He's the embodiment of blue.
>>96174183Any time anyone ever says take the "x pill" just tells me to do the opposite.
>>96174183I don't really want to? I think Hogaak is a cool card and very powerful in 60 card formats, but i don't particularly find an 8/8 trampler particularly interesting as a commander, even if it cheats on cost and tax
>>96174184Red is also the color of liberty, and House absolutely wanted that, even if only for himself. I think making him Esper would have also worked just fine, tho.
>>96174184Unfortunate concession of being pigeonholed into the New Vegas deck is likely the real reason.
>>96174184Because there are more diceroll cards in red, and more support for dice rolling as a mechanic in red in general. Plus, it had to be in the NV deck. I think adhering to the color identity that makes sense for the character is cool, but above everything else MTG is a game, and they chose the colors that make him work the best as a game piece.
>>96174184A dice deck with no red is worthless

>>96174303At this point WotC should just unveil UB sets for next year. I'd prefer this, because I'm not interested in Spider-man or Avatar so I'm out of pre-releases I'd like to join until 2026.
>>96174313I just want Lorwyn, man. It's all I've ever wanted.

Any secret tech for this card?
>>96173212Yes. Everyone should have at least 1

These are some pretty sexy basics
>>96177124No
Threaten effects are "until end of turn" which means it's NOT a trigger that can be exiled by sundial during the end step
Instead it is a continuous effect that expires during the cleanup step
Contrast the wording on calamity where it says "at end of turn" meaning you set up a delayed triggered ability that triggers during the end step, and can be exiled by sundial
>>96177255Sorry, *at the beginning of the next end step.
So you can't steal cards with sundial, but what you can do is make your copy tokens from calamity into permanent tokens
>>96177044More like winter whore that bimbo is the biggest jobber ever.
>>96177255Thanks for the info. Its the best card in my Purphros Bronze Blooded deck, was just curious if there was other ways to abuse it
>>96177253Oh hey, a boros commander who actually looks fun.
Anyone have a decent deck in a tri color combo that ONLY has tri color cards in it? I'm wondering what color combo would have the strongest deck.
>>96177272Yeah, jobs to my cock.
>>96177218>Protection from everything will usually prevent damage if it would be dealt to you, but some damage can't be prevented. In this case, because your life total also can't change, that damage has any other effects that it may have aside from causing you to lose that much life (such as effects from lifelink or infect) and triggers and effects can see that damage was dealt even though your life total didn't change.
>>96177311You and everyone else that bitch is a slut.
>>96174397Never. If I don't have removal and nobody else removes it I'm almost certainly playing in a pod of scrubs and the other players won't bother with the tax anyways unless they're exceptionally mana rich so all I'm doing is putting myself behind. Usually the rest of the table understands if someone has a tithe or study that stuck it's time to dogpile them, but again sometimes I'm at a table of scrubs who don't and nothing I can do - including paying - will stop them generating.
>>96177324So commander damage will kill them at the beginning of their turn if you hit for the 21 needed?
>>96177348It will kill them when the commander hits for 21 damage that cant be prevented yes no need to wait.

>>96177348>Protection from everythingYou can't do damage to them, not unless you use something like skullcrack.
>>96177372What happens if fog is played after this?
>>96177307There are definitly "color pips matter" commanders, I just don't know how many are tri color. Phyrexian omnath is probably the most popular, but he's 5c.

>>96177378You wasted a card.
>>96177378Can't be prevented > Prevent combat damage
Can't beats can
>>96177379>Phyrexian omnathNo. I meant has anyone built a tri-color EDH deck where all cards are tricolor? For example a Grixis commander, where there are no white, black or blue cards in it. There are only WUB cards. It severely limits the cards you put in the deck and I'm wondering if anyone has made a decent deck out those restrictions. Sounds like a fun idea.
>>96177383They just said its not a very high powered set anon, and it's not. Why are you seethemaxxing
>realize I'm playing with a few kinda costy cards
>guess I should get an inner sleeve to go with my outer one
>sleeve the boys up, inner I go from top to bottom, outter I go from bottom to top
>mfw my deck is now the size of the state of Georgia
Fuck I hope this shit compresses or somethin
We need more "at the beginning of the next upkeep" cards. Why did they ever stop doing that as much
>>96177492When I had all the dual lands and played with them, I never had dual sleeves. Not one of them ever got damage. I only shuffle by pile shuffling on the side as to prevent the edges being damaged.
But for foil cards, I noticed that dirt and skin flakes would get on the foil cards and stick to them, and slightly scratch them. So now I keep all my cards double sleeved. Clear Katana inner sleeves, and Ultra Pro Gloss outside. Protects the foils from dust and is added protection if a drink gets spilled, but that's never happened, yet.
It is bulkier because of air, but after playing with them for a while they will get smashed down flat and basically function like single sleeved cards, just a little thicker.
>>96177525Good to hear they'll eventually compress. And yeah, I went with dragon shield inners since I've heard good things, so here's hoping.
I'll be looking forward to when I actually have something resembling a deck after playing with em for a bit
>>96177435No they (You) didn't revisionistard, they said the set was weak. Which I will admit, is technically true of EVERY set because EVERY set is 90% draft chaff designed to be weak garbage you throw out, but the majority of the remaining 10% is good to great.

Is he going to skyrocket or come down
>>96177550He's good, but people are overhyping it. Look at how much walk in closet dropped. These types of cards are busted in landfall, but pretty much useless everywhere else.
I haven't bought ultra pro sleeves in many years, I heard they changed up their quality and made them better but my experience in the past has been shit quality that starts to peel after 2 games
Are the newest art sleeves any good?
>>96177550It's a perfect pushed auto include card for the exact decks that want it and the deck type that wants it is fairly strong and not unpopular. It's going to be a $4-8 card forever until it gets crept or an extremely busted landfall gy commander comes along.
>>96177597So buy a few copies now
>>96177596I have some ultra pro sleeves that I have used for 5 years and they haven't ripped. In fact out of the dozen+ 100 sleeved decks I have, only one has ever broken on me. They become rippled and need to be replaced for smoothness way before they will break on you in my experience.
>>96177550He's not that good. No may on the mill. We already have a few 4c cards like him that allow you to play extra lands, or off the top of the deck.

>>96179363the things that make tolarian academy broken in cedh are also GCs or banned like jewlotus, and they call out 2 mana combos like scepter reversal (they really should define "late game" as turn 7+ btw)
what are you going to fill your bracket 3 with? Urza, Tolarian Academy, and Rhystic? you lose out on the fast rock mana by doing that
>>96178402Wait, /toy/ LOVES Chinese knock offs. Check the dragon ball thread. All they talk about is chinese bootlegs.

>>96179446Our China bootlegs don't cost MORE than the legitimate versions.
>>96179454Oh ok. Yeah I can get that. Part of why I never go by /toy/. Shit gets weird and annoying.
>>96179469No, that Broly was NOT worth the cost of a Great Ape Vegeta. Period.
>>96179418Ornithopter, Lotus Petal, Bone Saw, Mishra's Bauble, Mox Amber, Mox Opal are all legal; any of these mean I can put an 1 cost artifact into play; if it's Sol Ring, I can put another artifact into play, maybe even two. Next turn, I have anywhere from 2 to 4 mana to work with, all by doing my normal gameplan of dumping artifacts, the thing I always wanted to do anyway, and the land is only going to get stupider and more powerful as the game goes on.
Ancient Tomb is a game changer. "Ancient Tomb, but it produces colored mana and grows through the game without limit" is the most blatantly banworthy card imaginable. This thing was so astronomically powerful you had to run it or lose. Even if you didn't run artifacts or blue at all, just to exploit the way the legend rule worked to remove your opponent's academy; otherwise you'd fucking die.
>>96179501>yes there are so many broken cards that elude my mind as to why they're even GCs>only 3 GCs in a b3 deck? what's that? what do you mean i can't cram every GC in b3 my deck?
>>96179491>No, that Broly was NOT worth the cost of a Great Ape Vegeta. Period.but it is though, because the market said so

>>96179501Don't forget the artifact lands. Honestly, Tolarian Academy is nearly up there with the Power Nine in terms of sheer strength. It's only held back by needing artifacts, which means it doesn't slot into every possible deck ever like the Power Nine do.
>>96179554Unban my man Tolarian Academy so I can put it in Golbez

>>96179572>it doesn't show up where it's bannedAnon... TA is not a GC, it's hard banned. It would be in every cedh deck that is blue heavy or artifact heavy the moment it comes off the list. Just like Tinker.
>>96179577>why is [card] not banned while [card but vastly vastly better] banned???there are many more 0 cost artifacts then 0 cost creatures, creatures do not normally immediately tap for mana while artifacts do and it is much easier to interact with creatures then artifacts

>>96179679that requires drawing three separate cards turn 1 and not drawing Thoracle. Tolarian Academy literally just needs itself and for your deck to have a decent artifact collection and then you've got a massive ramp advantage over every other player, for fucking free.
>>96179645You realize Tolarian Academy is, at a minimum, Kinnan on a land, right?
Each mana rock you play makes Academy tap for +1 and this is with no deckbuilding concessions to further enable it.
>>96179709>Tolarian Academy literally just needs itself and for your deck to have a decent artifact collection>decent artifact collectionexactly my point
the one cedh deck chock full of artifacts can't even use tolarian (magda) and if filling your deck full of 0-1 mana artifacts was so good we would see a facsimile of a cedh deck emulating tolarian running around and topping the meta and yet we don't

>>96179764Kinnan Cedh player here, you mull at lot more aggressively in Cedh so you'll keep opening hands with artifacts in it. >>96180684i kinda wanted to get into Pokemon, because their videogames are so trash now, and the whole TCG shtick lends itself well to collecting those critters.
The game overall is also a nice representation of the videogames, its very basic "My Turn, Your Turn", and i love the price card system.
but this lack of instant speed interaction is what bored me a lot too.
>game doesn't have removal cardsi mean the entire main gameplan is having a removal piece in the active zone and let them actually battle it out, unlike MtG
>people weren't playing like salty faggots getting madplay some more, you can absolutely do some degenerate shit. you will find sweaters and ragers in any gaming niche
>>96180726MTG is a good game. Pokemon is not. Deal with it.
>>96180731My guess is abzan, she's a firebender after all.
>>96180746Everything I see about her is one note crazy evil. I don't care about a 20 year old defunct series though.
>>96180700Eternal formats also get hit by powercreep the most, even casual ones.
>>96180751She starts out pretty smart and calculating, almost killing aang outright by baiting him into a trap. As the series progresses and she gets more power hungry she starts to go crazy.
It was kind of just lazy writing to nerf her like that. Unnerfed I don't think anyone in universe could actually beat her, including her father.
>>96180751she's two note crazy evil. inferiority complex and daddy issues.
Has scryfall been a slow piece of shit for anyone else for the last like.. 3 fucking months? Takes like 30 seconds to search for anything
>>96180801few days for me
>>96180649I quit WoW in Cataclysm. That expansion was basically my 9/11 with how badly they did my boy Deathwing.
Nozdormu is still my favorite aspect though. He's a lot like Ugin where he's a useless asshole that has all the answers but refuses to ever do anything useful.
>>96180812It's legitimately been several months. Takes forever to load up a search, takes forever to load up a card when clicking on then in a search. Even just reaching the front page is slow as hell
>>96180801Yes, is really annoying when I need to get the text for proxies
>>96179924AAAAAHH THEY MADE MY WIFE UGLY
>>96180649>humanoid versionwhy do developers keep doing this
>>96180702Alexstrasza (dragon form) is kinda hot especially with a gock.
>>96180880Because they can make merchandise of their sexy human forms for reasonable people to put away in their collections and not at all to hot glue all day long
>>96180801Yeah it's been like that for a couple weeks. Don't know what the deal is.
>>96173577>edh babies want their decks to "do their thing">I make their decks "do their thing" >edh babies cry???
>>96180651Whats wrong with 10 packages if its cheaper
>>96180910But I'm Gay Bolas anon I never had a trip.
>>96180914Also figures of a sexy woman cost 1/6th that of some dragon
>>96180981its the gooner-tax
>>96180880Because dragons need to be able to fit in anon. You cant have a conversation with humans when you have 7 6000 ton dragons at the table
>>96180651>go in manually and try to sort same sellers>nearly impossible and still end up with like 10+ packagesYes, that's literally how you do it. That's 100% normal. I just built 3 decks and now I have 16 packages coming in the mail, but the total cost was only like $118 compared to the ~$400 the optimizer wanted
