>>96174683yeah they do but knights can just use banners or other means to indicate their allegiance. even painting their armor. why forgo using a halberd or bigass mace, or even a longsword and half-swording?
i recognize this thread was made by a retard but this is a pet peeve of mine. i'm willing to accept that warriors in chainmail would choose two handed weapons, there's historical precedent for it and chainmail can be combined with other forms of armor at the time and effectively stop missiles from bows and crossbows. i recall a crusading knight being described as a bloodied porcupine at the end of a long battle, but he was still alive.
but using a shield along with plate armor makes no sense at all. you're invulnerable to most attacks that would require a shield, and can cleave through unarmored opponents with ease. if anything, you are incentivized to use a longer weapon to fight other knights, or to use grappling and rondels to jab the bastard in a joint. a shield gives you no advantage there.
it's such an easy fix too, just make the fucker use chainmail and gambeson or a half-plate setup. justify it via a combination of being poor and preferring the ease and mobility.
