>>96180508Spider-Punk is fun, and I might pick him up if he's not too expensive. Aside from that, all that interests me are a few cantrips like that one discard-and-draw-two, and that "connive one, draw one". Not very enthusiastic otherwise.

>>96180508You posted the one good card so far.
>>96180508This is by far the worst slop this faggots had the ball to ever print. Worse than Blacked Aragorn, all feel out of place, soulless and bland as shit. Really hope Hasbro goes bankrupt and we can be free from this kind of shit.
Oh and wait we still have to see โArena Versionsโ garbage company.
>>96180508looks way more commander focused than the average set but I guess that's the new norm, the transforming MDFCs are cool I guess, but so far they are very color restricted
>>96180508The worst set by far but this single card makes me happy
Reddit is stupid, MPC has upgraded their P10 plastic stock and now there's no green tinge and the cards are stiff, not thin/flimsy.
>>96180508I donโt like it.
Let me put it like this: if you search for legendary cards at common rarity on scryfall, you get 28 results.
10 arenโt really common in paper (they were only common in MODOโs Master Edition 3) so they can be discounted.
5 are a set of legendary enchantments from the commander baldurโs gate set, which is already a weird set because itโs draftable commander to begin with, and it kind of makes sense because you canโt be a master chef twice over or the like. 1 is the Prismatic Piper from commander mastersโฆwhich doesnโt show up in the search, so make that 19 real common legendary cards in total.
1 is from MH3, where it being common is actually somewhat understandable because it has a grandeur ability; you actually do want multiple copies to fuel using it.
1 is from Final Fantasy, but itโs the โI have zero other optionsโ colorless removal for the set so the odds of that mattering are 0% in practice.
2 are from Homelands, a set designed by people who genuinely didnโt know what they were doing.
The remaining NINE are from Spider-Man. And thereโs at least one more because black only has one spoiled while the others have two.
Counting that, literally half of all common legendary cards ever printed will be from this one set. There are going to be so many feelbads in limited.
also what the fuck is with all the weird spider men anyways
Iโm fine with the obvious jokes like the pig, the punk, or the literal noir spider man, but whatโs with the one thatโs just โPeter Parker turning into the animal most associated with him: a dinosaurโ
Or the spider cat that at least isnโt one of the 10 common legendaries and god knows how many legendary spiders
Or the obviously humanoid and not at all shaped like a spider mecha
Please tell me that the pilot of the last one isnโt a teenage school girl so I can avoid losing even more faith in both Marvel for thinking this was a good idea and WoTC for including it

I attended my first prerelease tonight. I'll don't think I'll go to another one. Paying $35 to take an exam and then getting stomped for two hours wasn't very fun.
Went to 2 pre-release today, overall record 3-3. First kit was garbage with half of my rares being in a color I had 8 total cards for, and a whole 6 pieces of removal in the entire sealed pool. Was Simic at first then after losing match 1 and 2 with no real impact, I switched to golgari and won match 3. Sealed pool 2 was much better in that I had a playable rare and mythic in white, and went Boros. Had a bunch of 2 power creatures doing okay things, but the big play in every match, was warping Bygone Colossus in, then throwing Full Bore on it to crack in for 12/11 haste trample. It almost won me match all 3 matches, but came 2 life short in the final match due to an incidental 2 life gained by my opponent a few turns earlier.
>>96181277This would be evil in Obeka
Forgot to add that I still only had 6 pieces of removal in second sealed kit. 3 in white, 2 in black, 1 in blue, and 0 in red or green. I guess its technically 7 because of the white wrath, but I was Boros, and wrath was almost never the play. Meanwhile my opponent in match 3 had 8 spot removal in his Dimir colors.
>>96181277>the year is 2025>still no cards for Leshrac himself>already about 30 Spiderman cards

>>96180508If anyone tries to put a spiderman card into play against me I'm just going to pick up my cards and walk off. If they don't want to play Magic that's fine with me.
Went to my first pre-release today, thanks FF for getting me back into the game. 12 total packs (2 bought and 4 won besides the kit) we only got one mythic and not very much in way of cool lands. But what a mythic for sealed! Ran dimir control and he put in work
Green Goblin with no shown front half (it's clearly gonna be Norman but you know).
>>96181576So... if you pitch a sol ring you can cast it for free?
>>96181555I am already a massive Cavern of Souls Hater, so yeah I think this card is pretty good as well. Also shuts down any pesky Ward effects if they end up being relevant. I wonder if there'll be any playable Spiders in Standard other than this lil fella?
If you can Riot in a few nice hasty spiders then Spider-Punk could get out of hand pretty quickly. Gruul spider aggro sounds weirdly real, but we'll have to wait and see more spoilers.

Did anyone do Prerelease? I went U/B and got top 8. Set was fun but the station mechanic felt hella slow even when you were ahead.
clueless non player here
is or was there ever a ruleset for playing with preplanned, pre-stacked decks?
cause knowing when you were gonna get specific cards could provide a new layer of strategy to play, given the cards that'd exploit it the worst would be banned
>>96181987there is deck manipulation in the game but idk of any format that has the whole deck stacked from the get go
what are you doing talking about Spiderman spoilers when Avatar teases are happening right now?
Went to a local pre-release for $25 and free pizza. Cool dudes all around, pulled a Tezzeret and one of the reprint lands.
Blue seems like a really strong base since all of the jellyfish complement each other. Pick a paired color and go to town, especially if you get one or two of the 4/4's that can become two-drops.
>>96181987For that, my dear anon, you need to play the best TCG of all time.

So are they just gonna make all planes planets? I always assumed they were planes of existence with infinite or almost infinite lands and places to explore
>>96181987There's a few beginner decks with cards put in specific orders to teach people how to do X thing specifically with no deviation, that's the closest.
>>96182554unless otherwise stated (like theros) all planes are planets of some vague size with at least a basic cosmology around them
There are several other continents on Innistrad besides Innistrad...we've just almost never seen anything from them.
The same goes for kaladesh, which is literally just the single city of ghirapur, instead of the entire planet.
Edge of Eternities is a like, "shell" around the entire rest of the multiverse that is then just its own "plane", effectively, with all of the assumed cosmology of the other planes being explicit.
Sothera is just one solar system that the two cults are having a war over, at the moment.
>>96181609No, if you pitch a sol ring, you forfeit the game and get kicked out of the venue.

I am happy with this. So do I just up and learn commander once I get a handle on things? He said standard is ass because of how much sweat is in it, and I should instead focus on both Modern and Commander to have fun.
this was the only worthwhile card in the EoE foil promo pack I got for winning FNM
>>96181303You see, this would fucking work as a MtG set. These would be settings that would make sense and feel less out of place than some of the non-crossover sets we've had lately in fact.
That said, a block based on the works of the Bronte sisters where everyone is black, apart from Heathcliffe of course, would feel less out of place that most of the crossovers we've had lately, so that bar is real fucking low.
Even fucking NARUTO would work better than some of the shit we've had lately, and I look forward to seeing someone making Sasuke black.

You're supposed to to learn drafting and playing 60-card piles with your friends, but now you're doomed to sweatlords screeching that you didn't let them win with whatever new UB slop they bought into that week.
>>96183323Nah. All foreign IPs are cringe. In house rip offs like Strixhaven were cringe. !Egypt, !Greece, !Scandanavia, and !India were the cringe hat sets before this current wave of hat sets. MtG found its stride for about ten years, and fell apart when they ran out of ideas.
>>96182643You can't tell me the entire Magic IP being subsumed by UB's who don't actively hate their own fanbase wouldn't be a preferable alternative to picrel. Spider-Man is a flop because that's an IP that *does* hate its own fanbase, but at least that's one in every few UB sets instead of every single UW set.
>>96183152Yeah, THIS is where it stops, anon. No further. There will definitely not be pronouns in the type line by 2027. That would be ridiculous.

>>96183328>>96183353I still plan to learn standard, because my friend gave me a ton of cards from Foundation and the new space set. modern decks are similarly priced to each other, not to standard decks

>>96186298Oh I meant the ish. I'd actually agree with 2015, because it's when they killed three set blocks so they could consistently have more big sets and that lead to the endless pipeline of product we have now.
As well as the capeshit, that was also the point they decided nuwalkers would just casually kill two eldrazi that oldwalkers could only banish, and then the next block were like 'what's this mysterious shit in innistrad' except it was just the third eldrazi because that was the point they accepted creative bankruptcy in the story.
2015 was Modern Masters 2 as well, starting the total erosion of constructed formats.
>>96186297Yes, the card would be horrendously bad without it
>>96186297You can't block her, she has too much mass.
I for one approve of the Tifa and Chocobo synergies.
A very subtle nod by the design team.
Impressive.
Knowers will know.
>>96185947That's literally how I did it too. I was down the shitter on my final game, but colossus showed up and I reamed my opponent with it and full bore. I'm personally going to be building a full mono red deck with buttloads of warp and full bore. I might weave in some blue for instants to counter anything that might disturb my combo.
>>96186297blocking is not allowed in 2025 haven't you heard

>>96187042No. This is far inferior to any printing of swords. Moreover it has that ugly modern horizons slop symbol.
If you continue to support this slop, it will only get worse. After Spiderman you'll have more capeshit and at the bottom of the barrel, StarWars and / or Rick & Morty.
It's on you to say no and stop giving JotC your money.
>>96187089And yet counterspell keeps getting reprinted for pauper, modern, and coomander. While Swords keeps getting reprinted for Coomander. Moreover, Swords and Counterspell, two cards that would be perfectly balanced in current day standard, are far from being a big problem in Vintage and Legacy. In Vintage it's the power 9 in every deck. In Legacy it's the next gamebreaking jank combo that gets printed.
