It's honestly one of my favorite cards. Mainly because it caused a greedy counter Atraxa player to lose at my lgs.

His brother Steel Seraph though has won me a game before and is equally sick looking. Some day I'll get him going.
>>96181356My nigga. I use this one in all my white decks.
>>96181356>>96181371It's a useless, worthless Timmy card, but I still love it.
I remembered I have these sleeves. What deck should I put in them?
I got back into Magic for FF and I tried going to some drafts and got totally shat on. I decided to try out the Edge of Eternities pre-release because sealed sounded a little easier since I just have the one pool instead of making dumb decision on the fly. I did pretty well, 2-1 in the swiss. I pulled Tezzeret and went artifact control and it was a super fun time.
So, here's where we get EDH relevant, i definitely wanna put Tezzeret into something. Right now I've got precon Terra, Tidus, and Kefka Court Mage, but none of them are super artifact heavy (maybe if I went in Eggman as a commander over kefka, but meh). I would like to build something eventually that's mono color though, because I tire of building these mana bases. So I ask you, /edhg/, who is a fun mono color commander than wants an artifact heavy build? Would love some suggestions

So continuing on the topic of a self-mill deck, Jarad is too telegraphed, Mycotyrant is too fragile. Sidisi would be good, but my friend already has that deck. So i'm still on the hunt for a "dump my deck into my graveyard" commander. Maybe pic related? Its a weird form of reanimator that gets to reanimate any kind of permanent, not just creatures.
>>96181045 (OP)>What's your pet card?It shouldn't be, but it's Dawn Charm.
I've inflicted emotional trauma too many times with it in my group, because I performed so many clutch reversals with it. Someone goes in for the kill, taps everything just to make sure I die, and then Dawn Charm completely fucks him and leaves me with an open field to win the match. It's not something that happens consistently or often, but it's such a devastating trap right on the verge of victory that it's not easily forgotten.
It's now essentially an 8th card in my hand, because even if I'm not holding it everyone assumes I have it and plays around it. I could probably take it out of my deck and it still would be my De Facto pet card.
>>96181203>using edhr*cok
>>96181653Ah yes I'll instead use cEDH numbers where it is similarly non-present.
or are we going with anecdotes now?
Inspirit or Kilo, assuming I'm doing some light upgrades to the precon?
ive decided to build big gay wizard burn as my next deck
whats some spicy stuff i can throw in thats not just every cantrip possible
>>96181685Kilo has a much higher ceiling, but its kind of akward because the precon doesn't have many ways to actually tap him other than attacking, and most of the times he won't survive doing so. I think if you're playing a lightly upgraded version of the precon Inspirit might end up being better
>>96181687Mirror box stuff and clone effects
>>96181665Anecdotes always beat data on 4chan
>>96181595Dawn Charm is great. The combat damage dodging is really useful and the regenerate and counter is nothing to sneeze at either. >>96182145A naya villain could be cool.
>>96182145Eggman could have worked as either esper or grixis. IT really depends on if you wanted to focus more on his cold, logical side (Which admittedly they don't show much anymore) or his more manic mad scientist side.
Ultimately they went with red, which in this case is the better choice since it lets Shadow and Knuckles (Both former allies of eggman) be in an eggman deck.

>>96182265they are not even exclusive. the main set version will be $0.20
>>96182256So when you exile this guy for his second effect you can just put him in the command zone and still give whatever you put the counter his first ability, right?
>>96182278It's colorless artifact support that isn't bad, so, 5 dollars minimum
>>96182248>available on AmazonWhere? It's not up there yet unless it's listed as something else.
>>96181766I can't remember any time I cast it for anything other than its fog effect. They're nice options to have and let you generally feel safe, but its counterspell effect is definitely more niche than you'd expect, and I tend to not run many creatures that are worth singling out for saving.
>>96182256this is a really neat fixed yuriko
What the fuck was their problem?
>>96182295>>961782141. August 2025, 1 PM ET
>>96182301I'll admit the regenerate and counter I've only done maybe twice each at most. I've mainly used it for the stopping combat damage thing as well. But using it to stop a massively pumped Crackle With Power that would have wiped the table and then going for game myself is a hell of a felling the one time it happened.
>>96182319THEY NEED PICTURES OF SPIDERMAN'S ASSHOLE
>>96182323Oh, I completely missed that. Thanks.
>>96182256This was my favorite card from the set so far until i read it the second time and realized you have to exile it from the graveyard for the second effect. It would have been so cool if you could just pay 3 to add the first ability to another of your creatures. As it stands, its just not very good as a commander
I've always loved the Ninjutsu mechanic, but I never played black or blue decks, so I've never actually used it.
Yuffie is essentially the first ninja I have any plans on running, and I feel like people are sleeping on how good she is, but then again that might just be me overvaluing her stealing while also having very little experience with Ninjutsu.
>>96182375man a commander with regular ninjutsu would really suck
>>96181799>im a homowe know, anon. no need to tell us twice.
>>96182499bros wake up new thing to seethe about just dropped
>>96182499I don't like those people as much as anyone else, but spider man CANONICALLY takes place in new york, so it makes sense that La Creatura is present in the set.
Honestly, given that spidey enforces the law, the modern populace of NYC would probably fuckin' hate him (Except the poors)
>>96182356Jankiest fucking cedh commander ever printed. Anyone in the know will target him because his weird fucking loops make the game miserable and are usually accompanied by stax pieces. But he has a really unique playstyle and you get to do some really neat stuff with cards that are absolutely useless in any other deck.
>>96182356cool in theory, lame douche card in practice. It just creates games where one guy plays with his weiner for 10 minutes trying to figure out if he has it or not.
>>96182356He's strong in the sense that his combo line is very unique and if your pod doesn't know anything about him it's hard for them to interact with once the engine is get going.
>>96181838There, I've done a horror.
>>96182646you clearly never played against any Izzet deck, or the Nu-Narset from aftermath.
Tayam is on the lower tier of "Solitaire" offenders
>>96182646Does it really lend itself to those kind of play patters so easily? With how you have to pay mana into his ability I'd think it would be limited a bit. Though I thought similarly when I built Ghave on a whim without knowing anything about him only to realize he goes infinite a new way almost every game. What does Tayam do? Generate infinite mana and then mill and play your whole deck at once?
>>96182375Yuffie is cool. Though her ninjutsu is kind of limited with how it's regular ninjutsu if you wanted her as a commander. She can only do that from the hand so you'd have to get her back to hand at some point to even use that first ability.
>>96181838What the fuck. Why the fuck did the new one also get vigilance and an on death trigger? It's weird how lopsided the power of the set feels.
>>96182256>let's make bestow even shittier somehowThis set is such a monumental failure. I hope people spam nosewater's blog with requests for the arena version irl.
>>96182256This is probably the second spooder card that has gotten my attention. Giving this ability to something big and just whacking people so I can self-mill bigly could be a lot of fun, especially in Golbez where I play it as a graveyard-y deck. In the cz, it probably would be fun to repeatedly give this ability away, but even then, I'm not 100% sold. Maybe this will be one of the few singles I buy.
>>96183056RIP to the niggas that wanted to use symbiote suit spooderman as a commander though
Also, what's the over/under on them making a spooderman card in an art card or secret lair?
>>96183063Considering they used that meme image from spongebob, I feel like it's something we'll see in some form of another. I was surprised not to see the poorly drawn Sonic somewhere.
I don't think it's a big RIP to people who want to use it in the cz, since it doesn't say anything about it being exiled in how the ability works, just the cost, so you can send him back to the command zone if you fuckin' hate yourself lmao
I could swear there was some kind of altar that let you repeatedly put your commander into your hand from the command zone for increasingly large amounts of life
>>96182195Why is Flash using water pistols?
i really wonder how the UW in cards for Arena are going to look like.

TQ: never upset when I draw him and always fun to double down on cheap spells for value. Bonus for double ramp or double kill effects.
>>96183639I hate this card because aside from it having been completely broken as fuck when it released, the guy is dumb looking as fuck and the first card he proposed was even more broken as fuck.
He wanted an Island that you could discard for 2UU to counter a spell, and we should all be thankful the designers were well aware how stupid that would have been and talked him down to SCM.
>>96183654Hahaha heโs only as degenerate as you make him. In 60 formats you know I slot him alongside lightning bolts and counter spells. In commander I make him way less oppressive.

>>96183676Rocks are overused being the bad take? Or that they aren't overused?
>>96181798>combo deckhow original
*yawn*
The philosophy EDH has towards mana rocks/ramping are relics of a bygone era. Where your decks average cmc was well over 3 and any cards that actually impacted the game immediately were 5/6 mana or more. The game has changed and so too should your philosophy. If your curve is hovering at 2 or below, you do not need the same amount of rocks you needed ten years ago when your curve was twice as high. Everything comes out earlier and easier now you dont need to "set up" for explosive turns in the future the cardpool is such a way now that all your turns should be explosive and unless ramp is actually part of your decks strategy it should be avoided.
If you're still stacking your deck with rocks you are just building wrong from an objective standpoint.
>>96183783dumb as hell, only reason not to run rocks is the tempo loss, which still doesnt matter in edh. if i have more mana i can just do more of my low cmc things. casting more low cmc spells is better than casting one.
>>96183792Arguments detected: none, when the landscape changes, so does your philosophy. Anything else is retardation but carry on soldier. Meanwhile when you're finally ready to play magic my board is already threatening to control or take you out.
>>96183783>The philosophy of ED-stopped reading
>>96183807You didnt even start reading dipshit, as that is not what I said.
>>96183783Power creep has been a disaster for all formats. Too many keywords and effects on too low costed creatures makes everything combo city and basically the only way I see people building commander decks outside of being so low to the ground they aggro under combo decks enough to take out 1 and lose to the other 2
>>96183720I can't wait till this is reprinted as a hot woman
>>96183341>>96183249You guys are way to optimistic. It's just going to be knock-offs store-brand heroes and villains replacing all the characters because they already have a heroes and villains theme they need to play into too.

>>96183806Arcane Signet and Fellwar Stone are run in CEDH.
>>96183829I wish. Seeing what they did to Liliana and Chandra doesnโt give me much hope. As long as wotc is on this social justice train weโre not getting attractive cards outside of UB where outside interests throw their weight against wotc.
>>96183639>>96183720the funniest part about those cards is how they have fat/soft faces with glasses. it's the absolute archetype of undesirable male - weak and crippled. So absolute ugly, that not even men with a soft spot for ugly characters like them.

>>96183765Mana rocks being overused is a bad take. Playing your piece on curve (or even before) but also being able to leave up mana for interaction is how you win.
>hazel can copy role tokens
Funni, but not sure how useful that is outside giving trample/ward to select targets.
>>96182841>uuuum in 60 card 1v1 they're bad don't you know that?>you could have spent those crucial early turns playing a low CMC creature combo piece or counterspell that takes over the game>because we're not here to "do the thing", we're here to win>just like competitive 1v1>also hard control is a good thing and you should like it>>96183792Banking mana through rocks allows you to avoid presenting threats first as well. From the grugs down in preconland all the way up to cEDH the rule of the first person presenting as the threat usually being the first to get knocked out remains constant.

>>96184056Spending early mana on a rock or land ramp effectively banks it in the short term and pays off with more in the mid to long term. The point is you're spending early mana for a return on more later instead of flopping a threat onto the board. Casting a siggy will make people consider you more of a threat because of unknown potential to be paid off on later turns but if you slap down an Impact Tremors or Voice of Victory you're actively positioning yourself as a threat.

He doesn't gather evidence or witness statements, he will never appear in court to testify, he's not recognizable as being a part of any agency or organization. He just runs around town waiting for something he views as a crime to happen until he swoops in and hits the shoplifter running out of the wal mart over the head with a bat and ties him up to a nearby lamp post. What if his attack tore the retina of that person? What if he hit them in such a way he caused a seizure or brain damage? Doesn't matter to him, he's just off to vigilante the next one and we'll never be able to hold him accountable because he hides his identity.
Now imagine if there were other people like him but they were openly and proudly committing crimes in masks. Like robbing a bank with grenades and flamethrowers, and the masked vigilante shows up to stop them with his own weapons and they have a firefight up and down the block with people's cars getting shot up and grenades going through shop windows and businesses being burnt down with flame throwers while they fight it out.

So I bought the Counter Intelligence precon, but I haven't actually built a counter deck in the past (I mostly play Gruul Aggro/Esper Control). What is my gameplan here? Should I use the face commander and go wide? Should stack all the counters on one big thing? or should I be running the alt commander?

I get it's better to err on the side of caution, but at the same time it feels like I'm wasting valuable space if I do too many lands and won't have enough gas to keep up since I am a weirdo that is drawn to more control through combat midrange shit rather than aggro, combo or going full prison
>>96185802It's be a shame to not have a few legendary hunters, I'd take Spirited Fiver as legendary. I could see an over abundance of legendary equipments for the most iconic weapons in game. I'd buy Black Dragon Spear or Gun Chariot, I don't even like equipment decks.

>>96185809Start with 38 and some ramp. Adjust based on performance. If your CMC is high go up. If it's low you can go down but I wouldn't dip below 36 unless you're playing a cEDH deck with a very specific gameplan.

there are legitimately garbage precons, and you could upgrade those and end up with a 2, or just make such bad or negligible "upgrades" that something stays at a 2.
>>96186484Brackets (and especially 2 and 3) are pretty broad definitions of deck capabilities. And precons vary a lot. Some precons are pushing 3 right out of the box while others might take tons of work and still not quite make it out of 2.
>>961864842 unless it's an over or underachiever. They're designed with same considerations as a bracket 2. The face commanders that end up rocketing off to bracket 4 and cEDH rarely bring over much of the precon they're from so even something like the Stella Lee precon isn't really that much higher than the usual precon even though she's Ms. Potential.
>>96186456>your commander should be kind of dogshit to fly under the radarall but one of his commanders are KOS so idk about that

>>961865474 color is awful for flavor (defined only by the color they are missing) and requires basically a full "all colors" mana base to run anyway. Partners is probably the most elegant solution they have come up with for it.
>>96186547Difficult to design for as admitted by Maro himself. >>96186103My shop is too popular now after they moved locations. You basically have to sign up for pre-releases 3 weeks in advanced. And I don't make plans like that weeks ahead of time.
>>96186572Better luck with Spock, the Rock, and Hulk Hogan.
Is carpet of flowers good enough to run generally or is it strictly meta-dependent?
>>96186582I'm waiting for every single power ranger.
>>96186569I like partner with but yeah generic partner is my least favorite mechanic in Magic. It doesn't help that doctor's companion is the same shit meaning I have to see ten trillion combinations of AIDS and syphilis all over ever color combination in EDHRec. Background was a better mechanic.
>>96186547Just play Fourteenth Doctor, bro.
>>96186456I hate this mentality so fucking much because commanders giving more identity to a deck is probably one of the few good things to happen to the format, shifting us away from "every game is Gay Bolas goodstuff pile."
But no, instead we have YouTubers promoting playing commanders that are generic value engines irrelevant to your goodstuff 99 because it's easier to downplay your deck this way and harder to disrupt it.
Jesus christ this even plagues cEDH take me back to the days of Arcum Dagssom instead of more fucking blue farm with zero chokepoints.
>>96186583It's definitely good enough to run. Don't play it turn 1 though. Wait for the blur player to put down some islands then use it as a permanent ritual.
>>96186456The commonality is people who idolize competitive 1v1 but suck too much to actually play it.
this was talked about quickly in a previous thread with stuff like colored artifacts, but I'd like to point out that it allows vehicles and spaceships too.
Posting this before I lie down for a bit, had a lot of fun with this. My favorite card in the deck so far is Auron, he really puts pressure on people with low power creatures with big effects
>>96186611who cares it's not a "real" card
>>96186611There is but one real option
>>96186611When EoE came out they changed the rules so that vehicles and spacecraft can be commanders, as long as they have power/toughness.
>>96186637Summon: ixion works like auron for repeatable exiles if you use tidus to pull the lore counters off
>>96186563>Difficult to designbut that's their JOB
>>96186582>>96186588For me, it's Mr Rogers with a group hug deck
>>96186656Very true, I was always imagining removing counters to get the 2 +1/+1 counter effect over and over but shit that's a good idea
>>96186660If it's your job to lift wooden dowels and suddenly you're expected to lift logs you're going to have a hard time.
>>96186694but I have seen them lift logs before. I have picture PROOF
>>96186650yes but they don't have partner
>>96186688Itโs a cool synergy with proliferate/tidus/summons, gives you good manipulation of their effects
>>96186711Makes sense, I should use Ixion like that for sure. I cut most of the summons on advice from others, but I may put Valefor back in for repeated bounce. I have a Herald of Secret Streams and Champion of Lambholt I should probably put in too
>>96185508>rebuild my somewhat shitty but fun tribe deck with a different commander in different colors>sit down to play, have to mull down to 5 because each hand was <=2 lands, one had none, settle for 3 lands>absolute rancid non-game ensues, next land was 8 cards deep>get home, kick some basics out for the usual duals>ffw next week>mull to 5 again>game went better but missed my drops again after the 4thnever has me a deck failed this bad, and rarely was i this tilted in a game of commander. i kept the same amount of lands from my old list, 36, and kicked it up to 37 on my second try
I really dig the art on this card
>>96186770Yeah nah if you're rocking 36-37 lands and missing drops your problem is probably card drawn and not land count. While you're mathematically almost assured land drop 4 at that count, if you don't have something going for acceleration by then it had better be because your deck doesn't need it: either you have it on your commander or you weren't planning on paying any 'real' mana costs anyhow.
It remains mathematically possible to get fucked anyhow.
>>96186700the ones they did before are incredibly boring.
of the nephilim dune-brood and ink-treader are the only ones people wanted to play back ages ago, and their niches are covered now. dune-brood was similar to hazezon tamar, and ink-treader is zada and newer blue variants. glint-eye draws cards on hit and lets you 'rummage', witch-maw is a beater, and yore-tiller reanimates.
of the 2016 commanders, ydris and atraxa see play as generic value piles with atraxa exemplifying the "it's just keyword soup" complaint. breya is four color value pile: artifacts edition, and sasika is trash. gays are the most popular of a hated archetype, which is at least somewhat notable.
>>96185701Mana weaving yields a statistically more random result than mana clumping. If you had infinite perfectly randomized shuffles, most of them would result in a more broad distribution of land throughout the deck, simply because there are more nonland cards than land cards. If mana weaving leads to this outcome, and mana clumping does not, and both methods sufficiently randomize the deck for play, then mana weaving is superior to mana clumping at getting closer to a normal distribution of perfect randomness.
>>96186836>A bunch of nonsenseOkay retard.
>>96186583It works in two exact contexts:
>Everyone is running full set of fetches and typed duals>Monoblue player
>>96185890>>96185909The problem with this combo is that it's old and boring. Maybe another 10 years and the novelty will return
>card comes in the mail
>envelope is taped -not using the adhesive at all- with some kind of paper tape like medical tape
>card is in a penny sleeve that is plastic wrapped (food-grade) to a piece of cardboard
>no invoice
these people are deranged
>>96186843>can't engage logicallytypical clumper
Mash shuffling 30 times is true randomness. I always count a minimum of 30 mash shuffles.
>>96186869What's their to debunk, you just said a bunch of gambler cope.
>>96186881Mash shuffling is the way. Fast and efficient, change up the section of cards you pull out as you go for greater randomness
It's not random unless you let me unsleeve your cards and riffle shuffle them. Anything else is cheating.
>>96186881Mana weaving is cheating anyway. Why its explicitly banned.
>But its says its legalIf you shuffle to randomization, which makes entire exercise pointless
>But some more cope about distribution! No. That's not how randomization works, if every card its two cards away from each other there's just as much chance you will push every land next to one another again.

Philistines,
>>96186962Are you exiling your dick between her tits?
>>96186836You do not understand what random is
>>96186836If your shuffling produces a truly random result you don't need to mana weave, as it should do nothing.
>>96186979You cannot randomize your deck in under 20 shuffles
