This is Chaotic. An out of print TCG released back in 2007. You might remember its animated series of the same name released by 4Kids.

I do not have a full collection, but I have all the big ticket cards and a very impressive playset. I left Yugioh and Magic a long time ago, but Chaotic always stuck with me. Something about collecting an old tcg without anime or AI or crossovers with other IPs.

Feel free to ask me anything and if you have Chaotic cards laying around maybe you should take a look. You might have some very expensive stuff.

I heard about Chaotic but never got into it. How did it play? How did it stack compared to Yugioh and Magic? Did you remember any notable matches that stuck out to you?
Anonymous No.96190340 [Report]
Never got into the game, but the first season of the show was rad as hell.

I recently collected all but 2 cards from the base set of Huntik. Chaotic looked cool but never caught on at all in my area. Is the game fun in the way yugioh is fun, throwing together some trash with unique mechanics?

It plays very different from traditional tcgs like yugioh or magic. Every game is unique because you get to make a different army every time you play, or at least that is the idea and how it should play. You have your creatures (6 creatures for a 6v6 was most common), their battlegear, attacks, locations, and mugic (magic spells).

There is a lot of fun in just sitting with your cards and deciding what you are going to play for that match and what strategies you are going to do. I remember a few fun matches yea, especially the ones where we discovered very broken strategies.

Interesting. Definitely going to look it up in more detail later game, a completed game like this should be a lot simpler to handle than Yugioh or MTG.

Like any other tcg it has flaws.
Game stopped production around the 3rd set. There was a somewhat sharp power creep as many cards from the earlier sets could not compete with newer cards.

Oversight was also lacking and a ban list was required as there were some clearly overpowered cards and strategies. Some cards where just powerhouses and were highly sough after if you were wanting to play a certain tribe or strategy. If you did not have these cards you were at a clear disadvantage.

Although every match was intended to be unique, Some players would just make the most competitive army they could and play that same army over and over, essentially creating "decks" and sort of doing away with the creative aspect.

>it was a really fun game!
>but then some people learned how to play it well
>I didn't like that >:(
A tale as old as time.

Yugioh player, don't have to tell me twice. Must have hit the surrender option so many times on Master Duel once some dick refused to let me so much as play a card then start using up their whole deck to build an unbreakable wall

Even I would sometimes gravitate towards using a similar army multiple times. People like to play certain ways and so they would play like that often. And competitive players that just want to win will just try to win its like that with any tcg. the issue was not so much with the players as it was with the cards and the power creep.

Here are two cards. One from the 1st set and one from a later set. They are both uncommon in rarity. Even if one is not familiar with the game it is easy to see that the right creature is plainly superior to the left one. The stats are just better. it is like this for many cards in the game, rendering a large amount of earlier cards somewhat obsolete in terms of competitiveness.

Can it work cube or draft? Thats my fav way to play games. Goat draft for example is perfect because most things are generic enough

I don't see why not. My playset is for me and someone else to play. the game is meant for 2 players, although I've heard stories of people that have done more than 2 players by changing a few things.

For me we essentially sit down and start picking the stuff we want to play with and start building our army. As long as you do not openly show your opponent what army you are making or talk about the strategies you want to try out it all works out great.

Can you suggest the best way to buy starter decks at the moment?
Anonymous No.96193084 [Report] >>96194343
>>96192794
NTA, but for a dead game the prices can be kind of silly. So you might want to look for an online image database for the cards, print the ones you want and put them in some sleeves to play with while figuring out if you like the game or not.
Anonymous No.96194343 [Report]
>>96193084
This is the sad truth. Unfortunately prices are through the roof because it is a dead game. Collectors have driven the prices up beyond the reasonable point of entry. Even starter decks are expensive because they contain the possibility of coming with an ultra rare card. Having said that there is a Chaotic discord where you can play online through a website called Chaotic Recode. Thee is also a database you can check out. Everything is run by fans who maintain the websites.

Hard sleeve and small sleeve. What are these worth out of curiosity?
Anonymous No.96202110 [Report]

My entire collection is like that. From the cheap cards worth one dollar to the ones worth hundredths. That way I can play with any card I wish. One of the good things about chaotic is you can sensibly play with your cards in toploaders. Your biggest pile of cards would be your attack deck which would consist of just 20 cards.

Wasn't this planned to last for a lot longer before 4Kids tried to steal the thing in a lawsuit?

Correct. The lawsuit caused a stop to production and the game just died.

Just saying, there's a dude in the digimon tcg general that has made a lot of stuff for the TCG for free, talk to him and you might have someone that will help https://cults3d.com/en/users/Bobbo01/3d-models

I have a modest collection.
Last I really checked, I think the most expensive card I had was takinom the shadow knight but I haven't checked in a while. I think she was rocking about 200$.
I also had some mipedian card that I couldn't ever find a price for so I don't know if he was really rare or what.
Anonymous No.96209585 [Report] >>96209606
>>96209466
If its not too trouble I be interested in seeing what you got. The Takkinom could be worth that much yes depending on stats and condition.

I'd have to dig it out of storage, it might take a bit of time to find it.

Better that than becoming forgotten. Lord knows how many sought after trading cards have been lost to abandoned storage boxes and trash clan up days.
Anonymous No.96213807 [Report] >>96214971
>>96211438
I dug 'em out.
These are most of my ultra creatures that I think are worth anything. I have like 2-3 others but I don't think they're very good. One is like...enrotep or something, some mipedian that can give other creatures reckless.
Hammerdoom, chaor and one of the bloot's are the shatterfoil rare reprints, and I'm pretty sure the queen danian is the reprint because they forgot some of her keywords on the reprint version
Wish I had a maxxor but damn he goes for like 400+ on ebay.
I probably have some ultras amongst some of the other types of cards, I'm possitive I have some ultra attack card but I can't for the life of me remember what its called.. I have a lot of supers but I have no idea if any of those are worthwhile or not.
Anonymous No.96214971 [Report] >>96215045
>>96213807
That is a lot of really nice stuff. The Heptadd and Headmaster would be the most valuable probably. The Blazvatan is also very nice. Very nice indeed. There can be valuable supers as well, but it is mostly about the ultras and mostly creatures. There are some valuable supers and ultra attack cards here and there. You can get Maxxor for much less than 400, that price is only for like Holo foil with really good stats. Edition, type of foil, and condition play a big role in determining the price.

Yeah. Yugioh is my main TCG but I've always had a soft spot for chaotic. I even remember playing a bit of the official online sim back when it was still running.
I remember buying a ton of packs from an old toys-r-us when they were clearancing them off at a buck a piece. Probably walked out with like 300$ worth of packs for like 40$.
It will never cease to annoy me that yugioh has like...6 unofficial simulators and then chaotic has just the 1 that from what I recall looking into doesn't even have every card coded into it yet unless they finally finished it up.
Anonymous No.96218734 [Report] >>96223667
I really liked the show, even after the style change, and the online aspect where each card was slightly unique and could be "scanned" online. But I never got to play, and bought a ton of dirt cheap boxes around 2013 I later sold to some collector in kangaroo land for a obscene amount.

Those were the days. If I had known how things were going to turn out I too would have cleaned out and bought all packs in my entire city.

I always thought this concept would work better as a MMORPG/TCG hybrid with players exploring a world to gather the cards/effects/creatures and then a proper card game from the things they found.
