I just played EOE draft for the first time last night, it was my first time engaging with the set because I didn't really follow spoilers. I didn't like it. I think EOE is worse than Aetherdrift. Why does Magic have to be sci-fi, I absolutely hate it. Loot, the Wacky Racer was better flavour than this half-baked sci-fi shit. Fuck this game.

It's undeniably the strongest brew I've ever assembled.
Fleeting Spirit + Unearth turn all control lists into mincemeat. It out-values every midrange list in the format, only losing to them via the random instant-kill combos that midrange decks now accidentally get to pull off with zero investment (But only when we don't have removal.) And it has enough interaction to clamp down on aggro, though some extra life sustain would be nice for that. Pheonix struggles to push anything through all the exile and Raffine.

Discarding Dorothea to Fleeting Spirit on turn 2, then cracking back for 7 on turn 3 is kino as all hell.

The sideboard needs a ton of work still, but it's serviceable.

Shame that Pioneer is a dead format. It's the only format left that's not so redarded that brewing in it has no purpose.

I just sold my Magic collection at the LGS. I took an evening to scan all my cards with an MTG app, I separated everything into two piles ("Things worth more then $2, and things less than $2"). I phoned ahead to the LGS, I walked in, gave the <$2 pile as a donation, gave LGS-sama my good cards, LGS-sama was kind enough to process my buylist manually while I just sat on my ass and twiddled my thumbs for an hour. and then I walked out of the store with ~$1000. Honestly I took a bit of a haircut, but I was just super glad to unload my collection in one-shot. I still have a dozen or so unmodified commander precons if I ever want to play again. Well that's it for me, bye folks. Enjoy the Spider-man set :)

It's a fair point but the entire video is joke-dense. But he edits his videos to be 15 minutes, which respects our time more than the godawful people who make 50 minute videos where they say basically nothing at all other than "Shivan Dragon good".

There is nobody better in Magic - that's a fact. You can't name someone more deserving of recognition than this guy. It's fine if you hate everyone in Magic but if there's someone to least hate, it's clearly this guy. We could only dream that everyone puts in the effort this guy does.

Because there is a presumption that the old ones that you enjoyed were made by competent people. The new ones being shit, whilst some people from the old ones are still around means that those people have been shit forever and that any good that existed in the past was either an accident or the work of someone who went uncredited. That there was someone in the old sets who prevented this flood of dogshit from destroying the game and those people are gone.

It's like the last episode of a television season being so fucking bad that the entire show becomes tainted. You may have enjoyed the earlier episodes but the same idiot who ended the season also made the earlier episodes and clearly had no idea why the earlier episodes would be appreciated by people. For example it's impossible to enjoy Matrix 1 after watching the complete shitshow of the later films.

I see it getting banned as more likely than Vivi since he's a chase mythic from a new set. Vivi would still be very good but it's really Cauldron that makes it unhealthy

Soul Cauldron was fine before Vivi. Strong yes, but not broken. Just a cool and unique card. Eldraine was designed before they switched over to 3 year standard.
