>Thread Question:What units do you field you never see anyone else use?
So which non-marine army got shafted the most with the new edition?
>>96245274Solar Aux, so much AP4. Tanks seem good, but you gotta be able to score. That and aux players cant comprehend transports so they just die to progressive scoring despite being able to catapult 10man units like everyone else.
>>96245030Exalted Sorcerers is considered one of the better 40k boxes around for kitbashing TS characters and Sorcerer-adjacent shit. Rubrics would need some work and are probably best delegated to elite squads, Scarab Occult Terminators sadly don't match the same armor pattern with the Sekhmets. They are 'fine' for ornate looks if you remove the Tzeentch shit.
>>96245274Talons insofar; Custodes by virtue don't even get any line units, and Sisters got fucking GUTTED.
>>96245264 (OP)I've been noting down houserules from discussions I've sen everywhere. Im not at the point I want to present them to the group until we get more games. Ive already got
>Duel-wielding dreads +1 to stat>1e deepstrike with charges, various approaches to mishap>HQs can pick from any list, have CCW to swap out>grandfathered options for unitsWith Legacies this week, allegedly. What are some things other Anons are considering?
SWfag here, rolling to determine if my legion stays losing or the cope of the legacies bringing back flavor turns out to be true.
The possessed posse perturbs the pitiful protectors
>>96245328Auto repair improves with each failure. A lucky glance and unlucky rolls having a vehicle stuck in place is the antithesis to fun.
>>96245366Take a techmarine
>A lucky glance and unlucky rolls having a vehicle stuck in place is the antithesis to fun.As opposed to a lucky immobilize or weapon destroyed?
>>96245352Legacies is only gonna reintroduce some wargear options anon. It's way too late to be holding out for flavour.
>>96245352>>96245379Space Wolves LOST
Thousand Sons WON
>>96245376No, those also sucked. At least they were pens and not scratched paint. A reactor that's swiss cheese and fully functioning but a shot out searchlight and chipped paint cause a vehicle to be stuck in place is stupid.
>Techmarine I'm not taking one for every single vehicle.
>>96245388>No, those also suckedWrong, they are a fundamental and essential element of what makes vehicles work.
Vehicles are hard to kill, the trade off and necessary interplay is that they can be crippled in a way no one model can. You cant blow the arms off a dread or a marine, but marines and dreads also arent immune to conventional firearms like tanks are.
>>96245264 (OP)I swear that pic didn't have Goldshi before
>>96245328Can only kill what you can see, except HQ models/characters. Those you can assign wounds to other models off out of LoS to prevent rhino sniping. Y'know, an actual abstracted "Look out, Sir!".
>>96245352What do you think legacies is going to do?
Because the reality is its probably going to just have some exemplary battles units and maybe reintroduce aether-rune armor. Im not even sure what you want it to do?
>>96245402What are you talking about? There has always been a Goldshi in that pic.
>>96245399>>96245388Yeah, the change to vehicle damage is honestly the most confusing thing of all the things 3e has done.
2e only had an issue of there being AT that was too powerful and plentiful for its cost, since lascannons were buffed and it was also the best weapon against dreads and termies on top of being the best AT.
3e has a confused system where powerful AT weapons now MUST be all or nothing against vehicles - you can get all the pens you want, but nothing short of entirely destroying it will mitigate its effectiveness in literally anyway.
Meanwhile, a weapon thats less effective can get a single RNG hit and if they're lucky cripple a vehicle for a turn, or potentially even the whole game.
I don't think its a good system at all.
>>96245399>Wrong, they are a fundamental and essential element of what makes vehicles work. Before they exploded 25% of the pens? Hull points were added to avoid immortal tanks. Vehicle sucked 1e if they weren't artillery or other pie plates/templates and 2e they just sucked. They're the best they've been but need work on pens vs glances. A tank on 1 out of 8 HP shouldn't be 100% combat effective if it was never glanced.
CONTESTANT! You have reached the final round of WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE! In the intellectual property of "Warhammer 30,000: The Horus Heresy" who is the main antagonist?
a) The Emperor of mankind.
b) Horus Lupercal.
c) Erebus.
d) The forces of chaos.
>>96245434Incorrect game title. There is no "30,000" in the real one. I request a new question.
>>96245434That's Erebus, obviously
>>96245392> Gym max> Mind max> Look maxThousand Sons are literally unbeatable
>>96245434e) Human Natures
f) Alan Bligh
g) The Black Library
h) Games Workshop
>>96245433>Vehicle sucked 1e if they weren't artillery or other pie plates/templatesbruh what is this actually unhinged take?
ap2 pieplate vehicles were OP as balls, that didn't mean other vehicles were shit, they just weren't horrifically unbalanced.
Also 1e was the realm of double spartan party buses being a valid and viable choice, Sicarans that were actually fast, ROW fast preds etc.
BUt yes, vehicles were shit in 2e, but not due to any particular fault of their own. They were specifically bad because mass lascannons absolutely everywhere, due to being buffed and being the best option against basically every real target.
>>96245458>Also 1e was the realm of double spartan party buses being a valid and viable choiceYou had me going for a while there. Next time you want to be believable you gotta be more subtle.
>>96245264 (OP)I'm the only one I've seen use the knights magerna. They're okay not really any better or worse than other knights but they're cheap since you only need to take 2.
Although James might have sneakily changed their points value with the plastic kit.
>>96245480>he never played against world eater berserker assault with 2 maxed units of inductii in spartans doing 100 s5 attacks on the charge with hatredBruh, you could kill 8 terminators PER UNIT on the charge just with chainaxes, they were an absolute fucking menace. Also most lists could deal with 1 spartan, but 2 is far more tricky to stop.
>>96245498I meant in a real game... jk those look cool
>>96245293SA get mulched but they got mulched before anyway. Overall they seem like they're fun and maybe even good, was nice to see that they have some interesting stuff after seeing how badly my legion of choice got fucked. SA make me want to play 3.0.
The army building is still a little strange to me but I think it works well for SA, at least thematically. Dracosans being able to take demolishers while retaining 22 transport capacity is incredible and goes really well with the Solar cohort which turns them into assault vehicles. I'm very glad I held on to my recast axe veletari. I also love that the Malcador is more competitively priced and serves a more unique role in the army.
>>96245422My gripes exactly. Getting pens on vehicles is almost useless if you can't kill the vehicle in 2 turns. Otherwise too much of the game will pass.
>>96245535Its kinda also what made contemptors OP in 2e.
The switch to monstrous creature type rules meant there was no longer a way to slowdown/weaken the angry nugget, so now you had to smash through a model with 2+ save, high toughness and lots of wounds, because even on 1w, a contemptor would mulch through loads of threats.
>>96245515>mommy I leaked my reactor
Interdiction Cadre Spam
=Important Notes
1] Limited to Despoilers and Tacticals
2] Deploying is a reaction, and the unit you deploy is the one reacting, so you cannot do any other reactions for them on the turn they deploy.
3] You are playing a zoning/disruption game and will likely lose a squad even if itโs maxed
4] Cannot be used in response to Reserves Moving (thatโs step 1 of the Movement Phase)
5] Volley fire is not a reaction
6] Units in reserves that did not deploy by the end of the game count as destroyed, therefore for core missions it is best to keep no more than [4x your reaction points per turn] cadres in reserve
=โWho can actually spam Interdiction Cadre Prime troops?โ
Assuming a primary detachment with a praetor and 5 centurions via an officer cadre apex detachment:
-WE, DG, and TS can field up to 10 Interdiction Cadres (100-200 marines) via auxiliary detachments
-DA and SoH can field up to 20 Intediction Cadres (200-400 marines) via auxiliary detachments
=General Tactical Squad Notes
-Bad at melee; chain bayonets dubious
-Sgt choice: drop bolter for melee weapon or not? Already bad in melee, 1 power fist or thunder hammer isnโt going to change much. Combi-bolters might be the secret sauce
-even as snapshots, 20+ bolter volley shots are brutal
=General Despoiler Squad Notes
-bad guns; consider hand flamers for volley utility
-Sgt: thunder hammer!
-wide range of upgrade in a big blob makes melee dangerous for vet enemies
=Ist-Dark Angels
Legion trait: Generally useful
Wargear options: The Calibanite Warblade is the same price as a Thunder Hammer
Extra detachment options: 2 Transports per 2 Intediction Cadres, which donโt complement at all, but if you want to spam havoc + multimelta suicide Rhinos . . .
>>96245585=XIIth-World Eaters
[Legiones Astartes-only]
Legion trait: +1A on charge is good if you survive to use it
Wargear options: Chainaxes for all your despoilers if you desire
Extra detachment options: Up to 2 Rampager Squads and 1 Elite per Auxiliary Interdiction Cadre
--Might as well go all-in with despoilers?
=XIVth-Death Guard
Legion trait: Does nothing for Interdiction Cadres
Wargear options: Power scythes are 5 points more than a Thunder Hammer
Extra detachment options: 1 non-Prime Troops, 1 Support, and 1 Heavy Assault per Auxiliary Interdiction Cadre
--Araknae and Terminators to protect the deployment zone and mid-board?
=XVth-Thousand Sons
Legion trait: Dubious use but Cult Arcana can be useful.
Wargear options: Only the Arcana really do anything. Pyrae Despoilers are very dangerous if they survive to attack, and a mix of Power Lances, Heavy Chainswords, and Thunder Hammer on sgt maximize Inferno Shield. Corvidae can be useful on Tacticals. Athanaean is a possible utility Arcana.
Extra detachment options: 1 Fast Attack, 1 Elites, and 1 Heavy Transport per Auxiliary Interdiction Cadre
=XVIth-Sons of Horus
Legion trait: Full BS snapshots turns charging Tac squads into a risky proposition.
Wargear options: Carsoran Power Axe and Tabar, same price and more than a Thunder Hammer, respectively
Extra detachment options: 1 Heavy Assault and 1 Elites per 2 Auxiliary Interdiction Cadre
>>96245585>>96245594In closing, it seems DG Tactical Interdiction Cadre with strong backline defense and TS Despoiler Interdiction Cadre with mid-field tarantula interference + termie-land raider back-up are the best configurations for the meme
>>96245379>>96245409>What do you think legacies is going to do?Give Varagyr a niche again
Have Speakers be a centurion that buffs the unit they're with like they have always been
Give the wolves a way to alternative deploy close to the enemies section, like the RoWs
>>96245382>Space Wolves LOSTGhey
>Thousand Sons WONGood, they deserved a glow up. It's more fun to have equally strong enemies, than it is to be so significantly stronger/your enemies rules are broken, or the inverse. Rather face the TSons, them being masters of magic, using really fast and punchy melee Wolves, than basically flavorless legion agnostic level Wolves. The +2 to set up is bullshit since 2/3 of the special units we have can't use it.

>>96245623>Give Varagyr a niche againThey do have a niche, theyre for clearing objectives to make big vanguard points. Frost axes are good for clearing mass infantry and they have fear to further debuff LD ensuring a rout.

Finished him but something's a bit off, not sure what I'm not 100% happy about
>>96245264 (OP)Lost to the Nails sounds pretty thematic I like it
>>96246138Companions are incredibly expensive (10 in a Land Raider costs the same as a Falchion). They're a death star, but without Jump packs, Line, or Vanguard I'm not sure they're worth it
How likely were the legions to steal another legion's equipment? Mainly thinking about their dedicated helmet variants. Could you have IW using DA helmets, or SoH using IF helmets, etc? Were any of the legions more or less likely to do it?
>>96246541Yeah it's a galactic civil war they were intercepting supply lines on a regular basis. I think most are doable but they'd definitely file off any legion insignia
>>96246534The eternal warrior 1 and lack of bulky makes them really good at punching up vs other elite bulky units. Consider how much a 10 man termie retinue is with the spartan needed to carry them vs the 10 companions in a land raider.
>>96246541>Were any of the legions more or less likely to do it?There's one very obvious answer to this question that you seem to not have thought of.
>>96246553AL roleplaying doesn't count
>>96246551Vanilla Cataphractii and a number of legion elites terminators have vanguard, so directly contribute to you winning the game by doing their job. Companions are a very expensive option to deter the opponents vanguard units

>>96246541Unlike lorelets say, it was rare except for AL or blackshields.
Astartes are deadly serious about heraldry and pageantry. Captured gear would have been cleaned of recognizable insignia, and modified to fit their new owners.
Rare exceptions would have been gifts or trophy weapons in the hands of the more edgy legions like NL
Sorry for posting again, took a different picture and it looks much less washed out in more natural light
>>96246563Unlike vanguard units, companions score more than 1 point for holding an objective. Vanguard is too easy to deny for an opponent with half a brain cell. You can even give them line from the master of signals you were gonna take anyways, so that point is moot. If youโre playing DA, youโre only ws5 vanguard option are assault vets anyways, so you donโt really have much of a choice
>>96246623there's a lore blurb about an IH turning traitor, or maybe it being some other dude who took his armor, but still kept all his insignias and broadcast his DI codes. It mentions how IH always mark the soldier as KIA in these cases. So it was something that happened often enough for them to develop a policy on the matter
>>96246623No one is saying they're just gonna pick up a DA hat and put it on anon.
But yes they will pick it up, slap their own legion colours abd iconography on it, and replace their damaged helmet with it.
>>96246675There's a few swaps that work especially well imo, and I'm sure there are others that creative anons can make work.
DA helms on iron warriors could easily work. WE helms with the bunny ears removed make particularly brutal mk3/Sarum hybrids

>>96245585>>96245594As a note I think if you're gonna do interdiction cadre marines, they NEED to be 20 man squads; wasting a reaction point on a MSU squad of tacs or despoilers just isn't worthwhile.
You also say DG marines are probably the best, but I think SoH are worth consideration as one of the best; having access to a multitude of elite slots means you could be backing up your cadres with Seeker Squads, and makes them an incredibily viable ally for any army that wants to mass deploy elites and cadre units.
Who gets to use the red & black paitnjob in the SoH hierarchy? Obviously the Justaerin and thei r transports get it, but I've also seen dreadnoughts. Does this mean they were Justaerin before getting entombed and kept the scheme? So Justaerin is more of a title rather than a battlefield role? Could other Termie Mks wear the paint scheme too? Fantastic. I can keep making fun of them for being scrubs.
>>96247187Stalkers were a 2.0 creation that didn't really do anything besides allow GW to keep selling two separate kits and pretend they were for different units. Stalkers and Slayers were nigh identical save for their starting gear and Slayers having a few less options. In 1.0 Slayers had some ranged options. All 3.0 had to do was give Slayers the ability to take 1 special/combi-weapon per 5 models, even if just as a Legacy option.
>varagyr all armed with autocannons or heavy flamers could be very funnyThey've always had that option. For me, the funnier option back in the day was a chainfist and lightning claw. They'll get +1A for having two Specialist Weapons and you can choose between anti-infantry and anti-tank attacks.

>>96247571Both recon slots are primes, so there's that. Although how useful that will be is up in the air since you need a Command choice to take Wages of Treachery, and you can only take Logistics once.
That said, they are a straight up upgrade to Recon Troopers. You have zero reason other than point costs not to take these guys over the normal Recon Squad. They're BS5 instead of 4. They have better Ld, Cl and Int. They can all be given Meltabombs for 25pts instead of just the Sargeant for 10, AND they lose Support Squad (2) so you can claim the centerline point with them.
Their downsides are they are more expensive than Recon Troopers. 35pts baseline and Nemesis bolters are 10pts, not 5 like it is for Recon Troopers. So a 5 man squad with Nemesis Bolters is 135 Vs 185pts. Compared to... well, Seekers who are cheaper than both of them at 105pts and Headhunters who are 125pts. 145pts if you give one of them a Precision 4+ Multimelta because that's funny.

Sorcery can be practiced by non-psykers to some degree, though psykers obviously are the most suited for it, and psychic aptitude is a relatively common gift bestowed on accomplished evil nerds. And the line gets blurry when sorcery can functionally substitute for psychic talent in some ways. In 1.0 the WB had the Burning Lore rule to represent that some of their dudes had studied up on their dark arts, and among other things this gave them a psychic level. Erebus and the like had that rule, because if he'd been a psyker from the start he'd have trained in the Libarius instead of the Chaplaincy.

>>96249557>As for the salamanders : they really stronguer overalStronger than before? Sure, the legion trait is great and they do herohammer really well, but thats basically it, theyre a very herohammer legion now.
Their special units (all three of them in the liber) arent anything insane (well, vulkan is lol). Firedrakes are just thunder hammer catas having lost their 3++, their hammers give them +1A but theyre only 2A base. Pyroclasts are better than they were before 9since they can now volley fire) but theyre still just AA dudes with meltaguns.
If hes taking vulkan + firedrakes as a deathstar thats going to be a lot of points in a very slow package that isnt actually much better at conventional combat than most other units.
Salamanders do seem really strong, but they really rely on that big climactic facemash between two big deathstars where they can edge you out. Just use your better force org to take a spread of elite units and contest them in areas where they cant be.

Its obviously better than tacticals or despoilers, but that salamander deathbrick isnt going to get results that a regular command squad wouldnt. Not really. Just avoid the manfight and pepper them with lascannons or whatever, or let them run around with their 6" movement and 1" setup move.

>>96249651No. Yes.
Firedrakes only take 1 wound from melta, plasma and flamer weapons (unless they trade their shields away via the legacy options, its not explained very well but its their shields giving them that). But they dont have eternal warrior, one thunderhammer or fist or TGS still kills them. Or lascannons, lascannons work wonders.

>>96249668Its a fine rule, but its niche enough that it isnt oppressive. Its only really relevant in that you cant meltagun them down, plasma weapons are mostly D1 outside of the big blasts, as are flamer weapons.
And theres enough d2 shooting outside of them. Lascannons, autocannons, disintigrators, even missile launchers/artillery of various sorts. It also doesent help them any in melee, where they were previously very durable.

>>96249795I agree that Dark Angels' detachments can offer an impressive versatility and each "Wing" opens up easy access to many good units. But saying that this gives you easy access to premium stuff is a bit of an oversimplification from what I experience right now.
Since each detachment require an HQ choice to unlock, that means I have to spend points (and HQ slots) just to access them. In my 3000 point list, those investments add up fast. HQs aren't exactly free. This means I'm using points that I'd rather put into those nice units with line or those nice slots you mentioned
So yes, on paper, I can access all of these tools. In practice, it's not easy to capitalize on that flexibility.
I think tha the Dark Angels' flexibility is a cool asset, sure, but I'm not sure it will make up for not having a usefull Legion trait.
Officially time to bully all Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion players out of this hobby.
You have to feel bad for playing as them in 3rd
>>96249998Everyone has to do that though. The difference is that rather than spending a HQ slot and the associated points to unlock a recon squad youre unlocking seekers. Rather than unlocking a heavy assault detachment youre unlocking retinue or elites normally locked to the apex detachments.
These more elite units are more expensive, but theyre also more cost efficient. Vanguard veterans will eat their worth of assault marines for breakfast, WS5 terminators absolutely body WS4 terminators, even once you account for the cost difference.

Is there an origin for the horned skull of the librarius? I mean, since Magnus was the patron of the librarian program, plausibly it would have some relation to Prospero, but I don't know that for a fact. The program was also founded with Baalite lore at its core, but I don't know that the symbol can be attributed to any Baalite tradition either.
Obviously the image of a horned skull has pagan and occult connotations IRL, but I'm interested in the fiction here. I'd like to know if there are answers to trivial things such as from where the characters are pulling things, what traditions they're drawing from.

Did you hit your head?
Sure, but the Apex detachment is already unlocking three Elite choices. That doesn't make the flexibility argument doesnโt disappear, but itโs not as exclusive to the Dark Angels as you present it.
As for Vanguard Veterans, doesn't the new Master of Descent allow two of them as Prime units in a single detachment ? So even outside of the Dark Angels toolkit, you can get access to elite, cost-efficient assault units without having to dip into multiple specialized detachments or stack the HQ tax. Hell you can even take the retenue apex so that you can field 4 retenue (with one having to be praetorians with jump pack) and 2 assault vets squads.
Look : I'm not saying the Dark Angels don't have access to nice tools, but theyโre not uniquely efficient when you look at whatโs available through Apex or with Rites availabble in other Legions and I keep thinking that this will not make up for a "real" usefull trait, especially when utilising the multiple DA detachement effectively is something I happen to find actually difficult.

>>96250146>origin for the horned skull of the librarius? In the BL books, real deal Librarians originally used a combination of blue and a book icon. Hence their name. Not all were combat psykers.
Other legion psykers, like Stormseers, rune priests, or TS sorcerers had their own iconograpy and weren't "Librarians" strictly speaking.
This made perfect sense, as the Librarius was a political project that was supposed to not clash too much with the Imperial Truth. So a horned daemon head was out of the question.
However, when FW released the Tylos Rubio mini in 2016, the sculptor added to it the 40k horned skull. This had to be another typical FW mistake, but it could be explained/headcanon as Malcador's doing it as part of the creation of the Knight's Errant. Finally acknowledging the truth of the warp, etc. A nice way to explain the origin of the icon later in 40k, IMO.
But then in 2019's Angron: Slave of Nuceria, the cover art shows a WE librarian with a horned skull during the Great Crusade. This was just a palette swapped copy of the Tylos Rubio model. So this time there was no way to explain it, only to ignore it.
But in 2022's HH2, they reused that same illustration, and added the 40k icon to the generic legion decals compounding the mistake. Meanwhile, neither the loyalist Librarian mini or the traitor Esoterist include that icon.
And finally, in 2025's HH3, the stupidity of the new GW authors reaches its peak: Not only they show the horned skull as the librarian icon in the heraldry pages of the Libers, they even add it to legions which canonically never had Librarians (like the IW)

>>96250168>Sure, but the Apex detachment is already unlocking three Elite choices.Sure, but its at the cost of your apex detachment. So what happens if you want elites AND retinue? Its not about "can the other legions get it", they absolutely can, its that you can get this and that and the other thing. Most armies are locked in a set direction, if you are taking command squads you cant really take vets and so on.
DA are uniquely efficient/flexible, they simply have more and easier access to everyone else, but theyre not uniquely available to do any one thing. Everyone else can manage it, but you do it easier, cheaper and with less added tax/fuss.
>and I keep thinking that this will not make up for a "real" usefull traitIts possible it doesent. But think about this: Legions with unarguably "real" traits like EC, WE and NL only have their trait at certain junctions right? When they get the charge off/fight under certain conditions. For the part of the game where theyre just shooting each other they may as well have nothing. What if instead of +1A or +1I or +1WS or +2" setup you instead simply had the better unit. Your "trait" - essentially - isnt some numerical advantage (although stubborn(6) is a good thing to have, ask a WB player) its that you can make sure that most/a lot of the time you have the more elite unit, that where the other guy has a squad of cataphrachtii you have a squad of cenobium, that where that guy has tacticals you have vets, that where that guy has recons you have seekers.
You dont trade up because your trait makes you fight better, you trade up because you bring the most efficient units for every situation instead of having to make do and settle.
>>96250317Thousand sons, if they abuse corvidae rending, are a league above every other army and basically only have any sort of trouble into mass heavy armor (which they can still answer easily enough by just bringing specialist units). Rending autocannons are simply a war crime.
After that theres a very significant drop in legion power and maybe SL/RG as slightly overtuned. You still have weaker and stronger legions, but its simply not some giant disparity.
>>96250561>>delegatus is just a Not-High CommanderYea? Thats what a delegatus is, its your cheaper praetor substitute.

>>962506412.0 still had the demon angle, it just gave them nice guns because it realized "this unit is slightly better vs a unit type you will see maybe one in twelve games" is not very good for a unit you actually want people to use
>>96250627TS rending power should be a 6+.
No RG player asked for for this. They have a terrible prime, ultra limited special wargear, but amazing gambit, trait, and reaction. Snap shots turn off augury scanners too, so smokescreen and camo are free real estate outside 18". Wraith prime advantage should have been snap shots and the trait be the old trifold path rules.
>>96250658GW had to be dragged through broken glass before they decided to finally put daemons in, with a year to go before 3.0

>>96250637Yeah that's what I wanted it's good.
Real good, actually, considering how cheap it is.
>>96250603Bro the DA trait is essentially non-existent. Combat resolution modifiers affect the roll, not the leadership stat itself. DA's trait is:
>"if an enemy unit has fear(x) of greater than 1, modify that to x-1 to a minimum of ร=1" It will practically never come up
>>96250584>Raven GuardBlack on black with black metallics will filter too many people
>>96250663>TS rending power should be a 6+.Or just not work on any weapon with the heavy rule or something, idk. Its honestly kind of hard to balance because it ranges from "nice but not amazing" to "useless" to "absolutely gamebreaking" depending on the weapon being used.
>No RG player asked for for thisAsked for what? Its not like theyre the new boogeyman
Maybe im being an arrogant armchair warlord but I dont think theyre THAT insane. Yes, theyre the best gunline legion and will win a shooting fight with basically everyone that isnt either thousand sons running rending abuse or spamming templates, but that also doesent seem like it will matter too much. The game forces fighting over objectives at distances where you cant just always force snapshots, so it shouldnt be too oppressive (just "very good, maybe a little bit too good")
>good gambitIs it? Seems like a "flip a coin, heads you go first, tails you dont get to fight" situation, I guess it can highroll like a motherfucker.

>>96250724>nd you can't think down their assault units until they're right on top of youYou can, it just protects them. Which seems like a fine substitute for "they get no benefit to the actual fighting once you get stuck in".
>>96250727Loyalty is its own reward
>>96250738>opponent takes transports>lose
>>96250707>Its not like theyre the new boogeymanI should clarify, it's strong but it's not game breaking. It just falls firmly in "suffering to play against someone using it well" territory. I'm also sick of the similar rule 40k rg have. I hate that when I play jump packs I basically don't get a trait because of how small tables are in 40k. I would rather interactive or proactive rules as opposed to this.
>GambitIf you play RG well you know not to have a fair fight. WS6 Paragon model with a hammer into WS5 and below. Hit on a 3, wound on a 2. It's not infallible, thankfully. Anything WS6 you just shoot outside 18". Again, not game breaking but it skirts the edge of theme and gameyness for me.
I realize this post is "muh legion" and I accept that. I'll get over it.
>>96250722So you're just proving my point
If there's only two units that are even viable (the second one only being in the game for a year) then yes, demons were only begrudgingly put in the game
And yes, releasing a model that's supposed to work with a faction that gw obviously doesn't want in the game is weird
>>96250765>WS6 Paragon model with a hammer into WS5 and belowThat seems like a fight youre so favored to win that the gambit barely matters at that point, plus theres other gambits that also similarly all but guarantee the first blow. Hell if you charge youre basically always favored (unless a similar gambit is used) because you get first pick.
>>96250725>Also the EC never had librarians, as Fulgrim saw psykers as imperfect mutantsyou're a fucking retard and a dumb bitch
>>96250753That's supposed to make up for it?

>>96250725>That image is a mistakeNo. It's foreshadowing of new EC lore about the best librarians in the in Legioness Astartes.
>>96250793You know snapshots dont hit on 6s any more right? Its a 50% damage reduction (if that in the case of blasts), not the absolute gutting it used to be. Its also got a range requirement, once their melee units close the distance (you know, to do combat) theyre being hit normally
>>96250774There's more nuance to it, like if a character is really high initiative with a lot of attacks. You don't need to kill first round, but sneaking in some wounds and it snowballs as you can take gambits that offer more damage since your opponent is has penalties now. Or use it as a finisher under the right circumstances. Again, it's not broken, but it's abusable.
You could still use it in a mirror match and that's fine, typically you'll want to farm some outside support if possible.

>>96250972Some units can do it? You mean literally any unit that can take a transport? That's your "some units"?
But okay, answer me this. If you saw a legion trait that said every unit gets a 4+ FNP outside 18", would you call that balanced?
>>96250603I agree, the Dark Angelsโ flexibility is a real strength, but once again, it comes at a cost (while other legions have essencially their strengh for free). Each Wing you unlock needs a dedicated HQ, which adds up quickly in points and slots. I may have more choices, but I don't necessairely have more solutions.
Sure, my "trait" might be better access to elite units but itโs not exactly free. Cenobium are decent, for sure (but IMHO, Companions are simply better), but theyโre expensive, and not invincible. Seekers are great, but theyโre still T4 bodies with a fancy bolter. Being able to bring them more easily doesnโt mean you always bring the more efficient unit.
Also, while it's true that some Legion traits are situational, theyโre often tied to things you actively build around. For example, WE and EC want to charge and they build lists that maximize that. Night Lords get stronger in the right conditions, sure, but that just means players plan for those conditions. I don't build around the fact that I'm going to get screwed to maybe benefit from my trait.
So yes, Dark Angels are uniquely flexible. But flexibility doesnโt always translate to efficiency or usefullness on the tabletop. It's strong, but it still has limits and costs like everything else.
Once again just my humble opinion as a no game of 3.0 (as of yet).

>>96251521I mean do you really want the Warmaster's second to look like he's balancing on a skateboard?
>>96251382No I'm saying post your proof. You are wrong and this has been pointed out to you multiple times over the years yet you still post your inane bullshit.
>>96251549yes? Who doesn't want want some Radical Traitors.
>>96248587My Salamander allies are shaping up nicely.
>>96251544Iโm pretty sure anon just says that cause he doesnโt like the anime style and fem primarchs, just ignore him
>>96251544Don't have to be drawing loli to be a pedo
>>96251435There's no lore against their existence in the EC, retard. Are you bran damaged? Can't you stop being a dense moron?
Or are you one of those 40k idiots unable to understand that "librarian" in 30k is a very specific term and not all legionary psykers, even if the rules are designed to use their profile as such?
>>96251543I was thinking of using this here head
>>96251317Next you'll tell me EC can't use parties and centurions because their commanders weren't called praetors and centurions
>>96251580Could probably work. Don't paint it in that eavy metal style though.
>>96251498>Pardo the Arch-Shill is behind the criticism of bad Legacies rulesI bet you believe in the "woke right" too.
>>96251469Rest in Power, Princexx
>>96251575if an artist is a pedo why wouldn't he use his drawing skills to draw lolis tho

>>96250187When are they going to get around to upscaling those Sabres anyway?

>>96251628>>96251607It's been almost a month since Pardo faggins has done ANYTHING and you faggots are still arguing about him
How about you spend that time painting models?
>>96251577Look at that sexy mug.
>>96251644pardo doesn't even paint his own models
>>96251409Nonsense. The only reason the game isn't playable is because there's no drop pod assault anymore.
>>96251616You never know in here
>>96251644I wish it was word filtered in this thread, my point is that "Y-y-you guys are happy with the legacies pdf? W-w-w-well what about uhhhh....uhhh....POWER SWORDS AND BOLTERS ON VETS?! HUH?! WHY DON'T YOU GET MAD ABOUT THAT?!" is histrionic discord tranny behavior, and they should go back
How many tanks should be taken at 3000 points? How much AT? Are melta jetbikes any good, or are they too fragile for their job?
>>96251661>How many tanks should be taken at 3000 points?yes
>>96251628>projecting>>96251658Bro, I think you should worry less about trannies and more on hard you're coping and choking on that BGWC.

>>96251661As many as you like the look of without getting bored. Personally been cutting back and selling units because I've been thinking hard about what does and doesn't spark joy. For me, Thanatars > tanks aesthetically.
>>96251661It's a 28mm game, so I think having more than 3 tanks is retarded in any game of that scale.

>>96251165Takes one to know one.
>>96250663yeah, as a non-bias owner of Magnus and thousand sons, the Rending power would be perfectly viable as 6+ rending and we'd still be a stronger army than Dark Angels.
5+ rending is just "autocannons, plasma guns, kraken bolters and all breaching guns are a complete game-breaking warcrime and your guns are good into all targets, soft targets, medium targets, hard targets, anything but tanks"
Then you can just bring some tank-raping dirt cheap gigaMelta Kratos or Rapier batteries and your army does everything easily. And it isn't even a glass cannon army because you can mix squads with 5+ rending and +2 Toughness spells together by addidng characters. And the psychic swords are just power axes with +1 initiative (free emperor's children initiative gimmick without needing to charge!)
>>96251521that sculpt is irrideemable, unfortunately. Stupid way to h old power claw. Stupid way to hold sword/gun. Stupid baboon screaming about only getting 4 chicken nuggees face, dumb skateboarding leg pose which simultaneously looks like he's also kinda leaning backwards instead of advancing forwards (if he was going forwards his toe should be angled down and raised)
He doesn't look like he's running, he looks like an invisible primarch has his underwear and is lifting him 6 inches off the ground with an ultimate WEDGIE which is making him screech in pain.
>>96245352>>96245623>>96247128>ProsVaragyr get most of their options back
Deathsworn get options back
Speakers are better than chaplains and cheaper
>ConsVaragyr lose out on some combinations (TH/FA)
Deathsworn can't be joined by Speakers
Speakers are somehow worse at being a medic for the first time
Any HQ with a frost weapon is weapon locked
Deathsworn are still WS4 and heavy kek
Grey Stalkers are still kill
Honestly, mixed bag but overall this is not making me want to play anymore
>>96251070except for the fun
>>96249675You can add Redloss and Holguin Missing from the DA roster as well.
