What are your thoughts on recast titans?
Hello. I wanted to know the unfiltered 40k communities thoughts on recast titan models. I always wanted a titan and even wanted to build a small army of a reaver with a few warhounds but their price is absolutley diabolical even for 40k standards. I found a few sites like wartablegames that sold them much cheaper and at better quality as well and was debating on buying. However 40k fans have always been super weird with titans and I remember a guy asked for proof of purchase when a friend brought his to my local game store. Why wood anyone want to spend money on such huge models just to get interigated and publicity humiliated everytime they bring their toys to a game. So I wanted to ask for your thoughts on recast titans. Do you own any? Would you play with people who use them? How do you get people with that buttermilk bob mentality off your back?

Tell them to mind their own business, or if you're too socially anxious to do that, just tell them you bought it secondhand off of Ebay. Nobody should give a fuck outside the most gigantic of autismos, it's not like you're robbing the LGS of a sale when it comes to most FW products. Literally 80% of the stuff I run is either 3d printed or recast. Anything else that I've bought that happens to be plastic is just to help keep the lights on at the LGS and even the local Space Woof fanboy who is more Asperger's than man hasn't said shit.
>Do you own any?
I own a couple of recasted titanic models from WTG (Gargantuan Squiggoth, the Kill Tank). I don't take either one of them off the shelf because they're too much of a pain to transport.

Keep in mind while WTG does put out decent quality a lot of the time, when he fucks up, you're putting in a shitload of elbow grease to fix the model and it gets even worse when you're working with old shitty kits like the Warhound and Reaver.
>Would you play with people who use them?
From a meta standpoint, they're almost always remarkably terrible for their points costs, so you're going to be stuck using them for casual games. You won't be able to fit a Reaver in a standard 2k points game, so those will be forever relegated to Apocalypse scale matches. From a gameplay standpoint, I hope that you don't mind me having to shuffle around and roll dice for upwards of 60+ orks for each Warhound that you brought, and even more for Reaver titans. And as with any Forge World kit, you should get comfortable with the extremely high probability that they will no longer have 40k rules in the close future.
>How do you get people with that buttermilk bob mentality off your back?
See above.

The last warhound I bought from FW had a whole centimetre of mould slip on the head. Also all the edges were bubbled to shit. When I asked for a refund, they just sent me their shit working with resin pdf. I gave up and bought recasted head eventually as it was not fixable. I'd already sunk 200 hours before a drop of primer touched it, just greenstuffing bubbles and entire missing edges and details. I've never bought from FW ever since, and recast is much better.

Everyone will ask you if it's genuine because it's a very big and expensive purchase. You can't escape attention. They fall into 3 camps - GW loyalists, people who want to see if you got ripped off and anti GW people.

Even if you bought genuine, too many people will ask questions, and even if you bring in a genuine cert, I guarantee you they'll say it was faked to rip you off.

Either play with friends only or just leave it at home. It's a pain to transport either way.

Buy recast titans, never buy GW’s shitty overpriced resin.
Don’t play in GW stores.
If someone starts nagging you about it not being a ”real” titan because you didn’t pay the kikes at GW, kick their teeth in.

I see, thank you. I know gws resin is hot dog water and brand loyalty is completely dead for the most part. I don't think I'll get any flak since 3d printers are getting popular. I think I'll go all in one day and get a whole maniple with a warlord, warbringer, along will all the reavers and warhounds my poor work desk can fit.
