>>96247918 (OP)>>TQ: What's your least favourite model in your army? This fucking lump of shite. People claim centrepiece/god models in AoS are "too much" but accept this abomination of a model in their Old World games.
I hate literally everything about this, should've been an AoS models, at least it would've fit the retard "high-fantasy" thing that game has going.
>>96248014Damn, that's one of the worst takes I've seen in this general.
>>96248014It's a dragon? What's wrong with it
>>96248025Go play Age of Sigmar and enjoy your retarded centrepiece characters where the rest of us can't see you, faggots.
>>96248014Ends Times Nagash over-the-top looking piece of shit. Doesn't fit at all.
>>96248014not a fan of cathays general aesthetic, but
>>96248039whats the diff between it and a high elf dragon at least size wise for a centerpiece.
>>96248014when is she finally releasing? need my wife.
>>96247918 (OP)>TQ: What's your least favourite model in your army? The empire only has nice looking models
Help me /tg/, I want to start playing TOW but canโt choose between WoC and Chorfs.
>>96247950No, they're recasts of the Crimson Court warband from WHU (great value, 4 characters in a box). It was sold as a standalone for a long time, and last season it came in a bundle with 3 other undead kits.
>>96248079It could be next week or the two weeks after that.
>>96248079You're seriously everything wrong with this fucking game.
>>96247950honest question, do you guys like that terrorgheist model or is just that there's no better zombie dragon alternative?
>>96248099If you're undecided, you can always start with Chorfs, and then bring WoC as an Allied contingent.
>>96248206The zombie dragon is fucking horrible as a dragon but the terrorgheist is a cool big bat monster.
Basically one half had to suffer for being a dual kit.
>>96248039Sounds like you'd be more at home in /aosg/, mr projector.
>TQ
Crypt Horrors. The nughouls (I know they're nearly 20 years old at this point) are fuck ugly and Crypt Horrors are just a bigger uglier gayer version. Tbh most that's been added to VC after 6th edition is lame. Vargheists and the Varghulf are ok but Crypt Horrors, Mortis Engines, Blood Knights etc are a fail.
>>96248206The 'dragon' version of that kit isn't actually a dragon, it's a wyvern. It never felt right. At least this year's standalone version is a the proper animal!
>>96248302For what it's worth, nu-nu-ghouls are back to being deformed but still human hobos with real weapons. You can use those instead of the giga-hunchback monkeys.
>>96248099WoC will be way easier to collect
Chaos dwarfs is only viable if you're into recasts/kitbashing/3d printing
>>96247986A VC list with a bunch of dinosaur skeletons would be baller.
>>96248347Which ones are you talking about? Looking at the FEC range I still just see that gay Korean MMO monster nughoul look. The 5th Ed hobos remain untouchable.
>>96248347Iโm using those as grave guard
>>96247918 (OP)>What's your least favourite model in your army? Some recast stone trolls. I love the sculpts and recast was well done. But their ankles keep snapping.
>>96248454You have shit taste and you really should lay off sucking mysterious street cock.
>>96248452What about a Neanderthal undead army
Imagine a necromancer coming across cavemen and ancient wooly behemoths frozen in the ice
>>96248302Mortis Engines are one of the coolest models in VC, faggot
>>96247918 (OP)>TQGotta be between these or the kroxigors
>>96247966This reads like a description you'd find in a junior fiction novel
>>96248601Who do you think is the core audience for lizardmen
>>96248030It's a dragon wearing a fucking hair bow lmfao, disregarding that it doesn't aesthetically fit with the rest of WHF dragons or monsters which are more cartoonish. This chink dragon looks like it was ripped straight out of League of Legends or any of those hero shooter games made by Millennials
>>96248510If you're an AoS kiddie then yeah I guess it's awesome. Let me guess you think Cathay is dope too
>>96248079This was posted by a grown man btw
>>96248649its cooler than the empire has ever been.
>>96248687Thank you confirming my suspicions on how old you are. Leave no child, your TWW campaign won't finish itself.
>>96248510maybe if you keep it in the freezer overnight
>>96248601How so? Genuine question, it just looks like a single small paragraph saying "dino jungle very dangerous". Pretty much a nothing statement. If a venerated author accidentally copypasted into their works by mistake I doubt it would suddenly end their career.
To be clear I'm asking how the same content would look in the hands of a pro.
>>96248433OR
if you purchase the new AoS Chorfs.
>>96248452It's weird that vc don't have many monster options despite being a big evil monster army
>>96248749Don't even joke about it.
>>96248637This but unironically. All of Warhammer and modern GW has moved over to the soulless digital splashart aesthetic, and I wouldn't be surprised if their artists used AI assistance
>>96248749will be buying the center piece bull and taurs. Shame the centaurs are kinda dogshit in tow, but what can be done about it.
>>96248763>will be buying Whales will continue being whales, and GW will never learn. All so tiresome
>>96248777find a new hobby if it makes you tired then.
>>96248014>>96248039Genuinely asking what makes this any more aos or high fantasy than the other dragons?
I think the models kind of looks like shit, but I don't get what makes it more "high fantasy". To be fair I think all gw dragons look bad, aside from maybe the new expensive zombie dragon and the fyreslayer one
>>96248749No way, most of the Black Temple Dwarf range looks dogshit compared to 3rd party stuff.
>>96248754they're not a big evil monster army
>>96248760That Coteaz release was fucking surreal, man.
>>96248754That's TK's territory
>>96248302Varghulf is peak, corpse cart is peak, and hexwraiths are peak, great models, great unit concepts. Blood knights I'm borderline on, I kind of dislike any vampires existing that aren't character tier, and 1-3 thralls in a black knight unit is much cooler than all vampires I think.
Crypt horrors should have been zombie ogres/trolls/minotaurs instead of fuckhuge ghouls, and when I get around to it that's what I'll be using the rules for.
Mortis engines and terrorgiests are ugly as it gets, and the coven throne is even lamer, HOWEVER, they are ok as unit concepts, although the terrorgiest should be more like abyssal terror in description and rules where it's a frakencritter with a bunch of upgrades you can buy to represent how your necromancers built it instead of specifically a big dead bat. I'm planning a mortis engine that is more like the old arkhan the black chariot with some ghost horses.
>>96248754do you want them to overshadow tomb kings completely?
>>96248812no different from the resin empire hero tbqh famalam.
>>96248637>LoL invented head ornaments
>>96248749those are not chorfs
mantic abyssal dwarfs are closer to chorfs than those things, and that's saying a lot
the robot is fine tho
After a long break, I'm working on my army again. First some forsaken, then a couple banners. Then maybe I'll try getting another game in. Haven't been feeling too hot about TOW recently, but maybe that's just because I haven't played it in a while.
>>96248454>>96248347The best in print ghouls right now are the heresy ones
>>96248844I don't really think TK and VC should be seperate armies tbqh, at best just different lists in the same book.

>>96248892>2 ideologically opposed armies with different aesthetics and different play styles should be the same army because uhhh... uhhh... I'm retarded
HOLY FUCKING SHIT LAURELORN FOREST IS NOW 100% CANON IN THE TABLETOP GAME AND NOT EXCLUSIVE TO THE RPG ANYMORE!
I need characters, I need unique models, I need an army that buffs fluffy lists based around them.
I need:
Eonir KIthband Warriors
Ghost Striders
Marrisith or Aesryn (or fuck both!)
And I NEED THEM NOW!
>>96248637You are here whining about toy soldiers posting neither battles or models. You're in the same category of retard, like a down kid making fun of a wheelchair bound opponent in the special Olympics.
>>96248916They are less different aesthetically and gameplay wise than brettonians and empire are
>>96248880Sick.
I still like Mantic's.
>>96248922Kinda care less about wood elves than beastmen at this point. Which is impressive.
>>96248922Pretty sure they've been Canon for a long time with references in the wood elf book.
>>96248922You need SHIT!!
It's good enough for you lot that your RPG welves are now part of the tabletop canon. Don't overdo it.
>>96248957Referenced vaguely and sorta danced around but never mentioned explicitly with a full section of a rulebook dedicated to something involving them.
>>96248970NO I NEED MODELS!
I was already thinking of doing a Laurelorn force using their colours from TWW because that's the closest we've got to an official scheme but now that they're canon they need and deserve official support.
Played a battle against my friend's Cathay. Break Point standard 24" scenario battle.
Lord Korgoth, finally able to be fielded as a Chaos Lord, lead the warband forward. The Cathay gate master and Shogumgen lord braced with the balloon blowing apart the hounds.
Korgoth and his Chaos Knights rammed into the Gate Master's unit and challenged. Despite the monkey king's stick, Korgoth survived thanks to his armour of the damned.
The unit broke and was run down. From there, the Knights tore apart the balloon in one lucky charge and then ran around.
The Chaos Ogres were wiped out by the Shogungen lord but not before killing 3 lancers.
Finally, Korgoth and 2 knights were charhed by the shogungen. A challenge was called but no damage received. The Shogungen fled. The next turn, Korgoth charged and caught the fleeing Shogungen and the day was Chaos!
>>96248839>terrorgiest should be more like abyssal terror in description and rules where it's a frakencritter with a bunch of upgrades you can buy to represent how your necromancers built it instead of specifically a big dead batThat would be cool.
Crypt horrors should be the same way. Zombie Minotaurs- impact hits
Zombie Trolls- better Regen etc.
I want my dwarfs to be from a lost Hold and I'm fluffing them around trying to reclaim their ancient home one day.
Currently unable to choose between Ekrund (since I love The Doom of Dragonback) or Clan Angrund/the reclamation force that attempted to reclaim Eight Peaks before the world got blowed up.
>>96248948Lol no, the cover entirely separately niches. Simply both having undead rules does not make them more similar.
TK leans into chariots, monsters, and ranged units
VC have absolutely 0 ranged units, mid monsters, chariots that most lean into being support units, good cavalry and strong characters.
Brettonia just leans into cav while the empire leans into range. But both still have usable cav and ranged units.
>>96248948>they hated him because he spoke the truth
>>96248902>>96248478You're trying to hard.
>>96249023Tbh undead could be the army.
VC and TK cooks be Armies of Infamy.
>>96248985I don't know how you got Cathay to break 2x but let korgoths enemies drop like droplets of blood in a blender!
>>96249053You may as well say humans could be an army
>>96249034>Ancient Egypt, lots of gold, bright colours, sand, sun>ranged units, monsters, chariotsvs
>Medieval/Renaissance Europe, dark colours, haunted castles and forests, the moon and night time>hordes of infantry buoyed by elite characters and cavalryIf you think these 2 factions are similar you might actually be retarded
>>96249059My opponent rolled insanely hot at the wrong times!!!
>>96248922It was weird that the Wood elf AJ took place in Laurlorn, but the AoI is for a random Asrai kingdom instead of Eonir elves.
>>96249067remind me, where did vampire counts originate from?
>>96248948>ancient egypt>gothic transylvania >artillery, archers and massed chariots>....man, you would have a point if we were talking about a book that would contain at least 3 or 4 very distinct armies of undead, like skaven are an umbrella for multiple clans and O&G are for different cultures of greenskins, but of you're slapping together two ranges as large as vampires and mummies you might as well, merge all elves in one book, all humans in one book, and all chaos in one book, and then lizardmen and skaven together
I am extremely pleased at the 5th edition Bret Archers/MAA getting an MTO. I have some of the command models, but I was wanting the rank and file ones (And was planning on ordering from the German Recaster... I may still do so dependent on price). This sort of thing is honestly my dream MTO, I love the old Perry Brets. I hope the 5th edition KOTR/Errants come next.
>>96249078Dark Elves were originally High Elves. Chorfs were originally Dwarfs. What's your point retard? Their origin story has zero impact on their actual aesthetic and playstyle in game.
>>96248228isn't the only change the head? the rest still looks like shit doesn't it?
>>96248328yeah the new one is a lot better
>>96249078Empire, or the Badlands (in case of sissygoi). The only one who didn't abandon nehekharan culture is neffie, the irrelevant head of an irrelevant bloodline.
>>96249104>isn't the only change the head? the rest still looks like shit doesn't it?And a different pose. I don't see what's supposed to look like shit about it. It looks like a zombie bat.
>>96249104This is by far the best dragon model gw has ever put out and frankly it makes the competition look like playdough sculpts. Shame it's like 200 dollars.
>>96248839the corpse cart is a cool concept but the actual model is meh, it should look a lot more like a regular plague cart and a not so edgy
>>96248902nta, can you explain how those are worse than picrel?
>>96248911Is Brasil that bad?
>>96249177It's much worse.
>>96249184Literally all I know about Brasil is... this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dvo6ChoKCF4
>>96249074Eonir aren't even mentioned. The whole thing is written as though the Laurelorn is just an Asrai exclave.
Anyone who cares about the Eonir shouldn't be that interested in it. It comes closer to retconning the Eonir than it does to confirming them.
First game tomorrow at 500 points for escalation league. :)
Im playing VC. Opponent has Cathay and a Chinese spy weather balloon. I feel like this will hurt.
>>96249023>tk is skeletons but they have chariors and bows>tk is skeletons but they have zombies toowow... so different........... pic related would really destroy vc identity...
>>96249166These are old and about to be retired. The new ones with weapons and a command group (iirc, they're called 'crypt guard' to distinguish them from these fuckers) are what you're supposed to use.
>>96249241Because Sylvania would definetly be the land of chariots...
>>96249226They're not named, sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's some legal thing to do with the RPG vs the tabletop, but they're still the elves who live in Laurelorn, so they're clearly Eonir even if the name's wrapped in some likely legal thing.
>>96249124the pose is too forced, i think because the humerus is way to long so the wings look detached from the thing (imagine it with the wings spread), and the body doesn't look quite right, there's something about all those spikes so neatly ordered and that many ribs that looks off to me
>>96249253a good chunk of the army list is bronze age wights dug out of carines, it's absolutely on theme.
>>96249249same question different pic then, they aren't much better
>>96249166Too dynamic, would look good on an individual basis. Those are much better ranked up, better feeling of a bunch of deformed men coming to rape your skull.
Also easy as fuck to paint.
>>96249275Just sounds like you're autistic to me honestly.
>>96249283Not much of a record of chariot using humans, other than bretonii, but see there is a slight problem using wood chariots for the undead outside the desert isn't there anon...
>>96248328>The 'dragon' version of that kit isn't actually a dragon, it's a [dragon]get your d&d shit out of here
>>96249312Itโs a wyvern at best. No dragon looks like that.
>>96249309That's why they're made of bone
>>96249258I think it's going to be one of those
>it's not retconned but we are not going to talk about them Since even the GM book for the TOWRPG, which does have a Wood elves NPC from Laurlorn forest in doesn't call him an Eonir, but the Serac Kinband in the same book does get to be called Asrai, it's one of those things someone could ask the C7 writers at some point but it's probably just GW autism.
>>96249320Oh from the undead catalog? You gonna try and say mummies are now VC?
Failed anon, failed.
>>96249337I'm literaly advocating for "undead" to replace tk and vc, yes. You stupid?
>>96249288They are much better, and it's visible when you paint them an actual flesh tone instead of that retarded eavy metal green.
>>96249309what problem?
if necromancy can make rotten people move, it can make rotten chariots move.
>>96249312Fuck off secondary, it's a distinct animal in WHF and has its own models and stats in the O&G army book.
>>96249086they previously were one book. Screaming skull, archers, and chariots were all formally generic undead units tomb kings got in the divorce to artifically give them two seperate identities (carrion too, but fell bats are close enough)
>>96249258There are points where the Laurelorn elves are referred to as Asrai (the second paragraph of 'Winter War', for instance). It seems much more like: 'TWW has a wood elf faction there' than 'Archives of the Empire is part of the studio's vision'.
It annoys me because the Eonir material is good. But GW don't read their own background and unfortunately we need to collectively remember that. We had a brief time when Warhammer was only being maintained by WFRP autists and things were being consolidated and massaged into compliance. But now GW has awoken from its hibernal slumber and we enter again the Season of Fuck-ups.
>>96249358They're obviously nicer models, but it's the same dogshit design with the weird back-mane and hunched poster
>>96249302>you don't like something i like so you must be autistichow do you picture its silouette while flying then?
>>96249301>Too dynamicfair, i think most of them would rank up tho, also ghouls are scanvengers so they aren't ranked much of the game
i guess that also disqualifies these ones
>>96249288>Also easy as fuck to paint.this applies to both
>>96249401I don't care about you not liking it, your reasons for disliking it simply are autistic.
>>96249394I can see what you mean, but the hunchback pose works well to sell the troglodyte look, and if you don't like the hairy backs you can just cut the hair off. They're better than all 3rd party trash out there, which is either stuck copying the old turbo-monkey designs or is varying degrees of zombie.
>>96249356Ah so you are retarded, back to AoS slopfest factions for you
>>96249361Unless it was bog burial you'd be kind of fucked trying to preserve wood, but fwiw wood decomposes fast. A wood chariot would need to be recent or in very specific burial (mountain, desert, bog) none which fits VC asthetic currently. Bronze age cairns or slyvania would be very unlikely. Albeit some mad lad could prob convert it.
Jeez imagine converting your dudes to what you want instead of whining. Not the baitposter for certain
>>96249416>it good you are wrongok, have your last (you)
>>96249387One thing I do find strange about GW is that at times they are perfectly aware that WFRP is an important part of Warhammer Fantasy history and development, and mentioned it a lot in the War Comm articles, but then they almost purposely ignore what those roleplaying writers have written about since they can't be bothered to do research on the topic outside of going through the Warhammer Warehouse to find old models.
>>96249437I would bet my life I'm higher iq than you. And also taller. And less fat. Retard.
>>96249387To be fair, there's been other times when wood elves beyond Athel Loren are called Asrai, sometimes it's the ones who lives Athel Loren, other times it's treated more as a generic elven term for Wood Elf. Kinda up in the air.
>>96249437The chariot could be enchanted by some proto-imperial shamans and priests or beltanhi druids to preserve it. It would still be a very rare thing, rarer than the already exotic horses of that era.
>>96249484Yeah there probably ways to include one in a VC army but my point was calling it part of their asthetic when in lore and irl inspirations it doesn't fit very easily, especially compared to not Egypt.
>>96249457There are people at gw who respect the legacy of their forebears and want to preserve it and build upon it, and then there are wankers who want to 'leave their mark' (usually in an ugly, smelly, enshittifying way akin to a beastman's treasured dung heap) like those faggots behind all the nu-HH uglies.
>>96249315except the ones that do
there are plenty of dragon species on the warhammer world, including ones that don't have your 'typical' 2 wings and 4 legs configuration
if you don't find them in the old world then maybe it's because they don't live in the old world, vampires get their dragon corpses from the graveyard of dragons in the darklands, where all sorts of dragons from all over the world go to die
since wyverns and dragons in warhammer are distantly related, there must have been a moment in time when they shared traits, so unless you want to propose a wyvern species with 'dragon legs', one must consider a dragon species with 'wyvern legs'
>>96249531>like those faggots behind all the nu-HH uglies. The weird thing is that they're doing a lot of RT nostalgia pandering with the disregard of the setting FW built up with the Black Books. So it's at the same time "respectful" and disrespectful
>>96249553I think being a full-time Schizo is required to work in the specialist games division.
>>96249370>it's a distinct animal in WHFthe ones that orcs have, the ones that vampires have are distinct from those because they are dragons, slightly different from other dragons but still dragons nonetheless and not wyverns.
two animals can have the same arrangement of limbs, you know
>>96248328This anon is correct and anyone arguing with him is 100% gay and possibly a furry.
>>96249457There's a lot I can forgive. I don't expect GW to have known that the Graf of Middenheim during TOW should have been a Karzburdger - finding that out requires knowing about one obscure reference to the foundation of the Middenheim Mining Colony and Penitentiary, who founded it and calculating the date of its founding.
But nowadays the wiki exists. Sometimes I wish they'd give things a quick google before writing something contradictory. They don't have to trust the wiki (it has some dodgy stuff), but everything is sourced.
>>96249615the WF wiki is complete shit though and we see saw what happened when GW staffers tried to source stuff on their own they just ended up copying fan made content from Mad Alfred by mistake
>>96249542>>96249576Retard, the old """dragon""" had a wyvern's snub-nosed skull instead of a long draconic snout. You're arguing for no fucking reason other than to stir shit.
>>96249553The guy behind it said in an interview that he did it for no other reason than petty egoism. The RT baiting is just a cheap excuse, and mostly came about with 3.0 reddit terminators.
>>96248328>anon thinks he knows the setting better than john blanche
>>96249662No one here cares about HH faggot go back to your thread to whine about your game.
>>96249662>and mostly came about with 3.0 reddit terminators.MK VI and III redesigns were also that among many other things.
>>96249644>wyvern's snub-nosed>long draconic snoutYou're attributing to these animals traits that aren't actually exclusive to them
Pic related shows a long snouted wyvern and a snub-nosed dragon
Played another game with my buddies empire gonna take the "mould line river patrol" for his price. God empire is much more fun than wood elves. Anyways the battle was between slaanesh Warriors of chaos at 1k points some highlights
>the 2x blessed armor hero killed 7 WoC through 2 rounds of hammerhand
>cannon sniped a chariot. Then got ran down by 5 maruaders. Artillery roulette.
>halbs killed 3 chaos warriors but lasted 3 rounds before dying. Empire holds the line way better than elfs.
>chaos knights are killyer than empire knights oh my.
>even a WoC champion is not to be idly challenged by empire Heros lol woops.
Still I lost but had fun. I'm taking the Reik pill I even have a little lore background for my dudes cooked up to base them around. Fuck knife ears and Eternalshitters.
>>96248777Saying he's going to buy specifically two kits and not the entire thing is kind of the opposite of being a whale, genius
>>96248763The masked versions aren't too bad, but they require a different scheme and weapon
>>96249733Post 6e wyverns become orc dragons basically, with square faces and tusks. Which is dumb, but that's the angle they took. The AoS one just takes it one step further.
>>96249626They can double check the sources though. It's a good starting point.
Shame about the Estalia thing, really. Using Madalfred's material would probably improve the setting. Although it didn't take into account the slim additional background in Monstrous Arcanum.
>>96248952These are some of the worst models ever sculpted. The guy on the front left corner of the unit is L E G E M D A R Y.

>>96250712 Well i took my buddies empire and now I'm working on the Aurith river patrol based out of Mielau, Ostermark. I will never be as good as that other ostermark guy but hipe to paint up all the statetroopers by chirstmas. Have a little lore schulb I made that I might impose upon everyone later.
Test scheme. Made 1 slapped together I think I have the right idea. I need to file off all the damn mold lines tho goddamn.
State troopers are not as fugly as I've been told desu, but I do hate that they can't be posed at attention. The shoeless ones are retarded tho.

>open Citadel (tm) pot for a paint I haven't touched in a month
>it's hard as a rock
And it's rakarth flesh, too, so I haven't found an acceptable alternative from better manufacturers. I hate this pot so much. Most of the ones I have are fine, even if they are more than a year old. But every so often I get a pot that seems to have some mechanical flaw and it doesn't seal properly.
>>96250863It could've been the paint, not the pot. Sometimes acrylics last decades if they're a good batch, sometimes they're already chalky and half-cured before you break the seal.

What's the latest rumour lads?
>>96250875Oh, I didn't know that could happen. I have one paint that 100% dried up because the pot lid wouldn't seal at all and would pop off if you didn't hold it down, but I was convinced that at least my rakarth was sealed, which is why this was a rather (anticlimactic) surprise. Anyway I'm still relatively new to the hobby side so these kind of issues will no doubt crop up.
>>96250826I'm in love with the mustard orcs. What paints did you use?

Speaking of, I think AoR was influential for the development of the warhammer wyvern, I don't believe many were envisioning warhammer wyverns as knuckle walking or as having thagomizers before that point.
The concept work for that game was underrated.

I figured he'd be a veteran of the intercine empire wars, who came to the Aurith/Blut valley to escape allegations of sigmarite worship (given ostermark is sort of split between Tabecland and Ostlund) and lead what's supposed to be the quieter frontier as Blut is part of the Kadrin trade route and Aurith an agricultural area. But the red face gobbos, forest beasts, and cults keep him busy.
>>96251432Pretty comparable to a nercofex, big old nercomantic monster fella sculpted to the shape of the necromancer/liche priests making it.
>>96251451I'm not making anything up, there isn't anything TK has that is different enough from VC to justify being two different armies, it's just totally arbitrary distinction to try and force a difference. Question for the anons who partake in the time-honoured tradition of making "your dudes":
How do you plan out your dudes? Do you make a strict ruleset for yourself to follow whole kitbashing? Or do you just go off of vibes or simply what looks cool?
>>96252375So I'm for ostermark did some research and try to meld lore to some tabletop efficency. Like I made some rules and researched carpathian/Himalayan valley stuff for basing ideas, lore for uniforms and roughly equipment, and then make a quick write up
Then I got my lot and made some lists and tried to reconcile it. For example, my buddies lot has knights, hand gunners, which a poor rural part of Ostermark I chose would likely not have much of. But then I realized they're next to the slayer road and in lore tge same margrave rules both Mielau and Esiental (in fantasy times). So I figured they'd be dispatched to defend Mielau but rotated into duties. Given the closeness to the Erie Downs and Sylvania plus Ostermarks focus on death, knights of Morr being dispatched I think is justified. From here it's then shaped by battles.

>>96247918 (OP)The Plastic Empire Captain kit. I hate really dynamic poses and rearing horse annoys me. On the opposite end the foot version has the lamest pose imaginable as in just standing there like a statue. It's also way too fucking big. You'd think it was just scale creep over the years, but I think the plastic Greatswords came out after and their completely fine. I've been struggling with the kit and I've now just given up. I'm just using bits from it. Normally I'd just suck it up, but I really want my general to look cool, but it's impossible with this kit. >>96250074The masked build is really growing on me, although I do wish they had axes or halberds instead of the funky glaives
>>96252375I do a lot of narrative games, so I try to keep things relatively tied to the lore. That being said, I do like to challenge myself and see if I can do something outside of the box.
As an example, right now I'm working on a Slaaneshi-theme Beastman warherd that makes its home among abandoned Reman ruins. As followers of Slaanesh, they have a penchant for Tilean wine, plundered silks, or anything else they can take from the caravans of merchant princes, which feeds into my "twist" for them - namely, that they are more "civilized" than normal beastmen.
Unlike regular beastmen, they don't eschew all the niceties and advantages of civilization and technology. They wear "nicer" clothing and armour, use "better" weapons, and most notably, they cultivate crops - namely grapes in crude vineyards. And when I say "they", I actually mean the slaves they capture on raids - most of which are eaten following harvest and throughout the winter.
>>96253672If I may
>the slaves they capture tend fieldsso agriculture use of slaves is a big no no given beastmen hate all things civilized. clearing forests, farming, modifying the earth anyway save the most crude shelter. What they might do is cower an enemy town into giving them more and more wine each fortnight or w/e frame of time Or intermixing with humans in revelry when drunk on certain forbidden holidays. So perhaps some local vineyards are tributing wine, or even using the wine to bargain with them. but to have beastmen oversee agricutlure would cause them to go insane(er?) as their very nature would go against it regardless of which god they worship, unless there is some slaangor lore im not aware of
Am I the only one a little unhappy with the Empire AoIs? Like, it's the Empire, I was kinda expecting most of the to be city-states and provinces. We got Nuln, which is great, exactly wha I want. And Knightly Orders, which is, interesting? It's a fun twist on an Emprie army, but did it really need to be in the first AJ?
And now the third one is going to be a mixed army with Cathay. Which, quite frankly, seems like a way to fill in gaps in the Cathay army list until they get a second wave.
>>96253957I was expecting Empire Civil War factions.
>>96254022Oh yeah, that's another thing; isn't there a civil war going on in the Empire? I would've thought that would be a bigger deal.
Hell, it should show up in other armies, like an AoI representing Dwarf mercenaries who are hired by one of the Emperors
>>96253826>What they might do is cower an enemy town into giving them more and more wine each fortnight or w/e frame of time Or intermixing with humans in revelry when drunk on certain forbidden holidays. So perhaps some local vineyards are tributing wine, or even using the wine to bargain with them. This is more or less what I envisioned. The herd isn't clearing any land or building any infrastructure themselves. They capture isolated villages and live in the undeveloped (or overgrown) areas around them, essentially hemming the villagers in. More slaves are brought in via successful raids, and if a village collapses outright, they simply repeat the process somewhere else.
The herd isn't really functioning like a traditional overseer. There is no ungor standing behind a bunch of villagers with a whip in his hand as they work the fields (though I could see followers of the herd, people with lesser mutations, trying to do that, though). Like you said, ungors or gors might show up on the peripheries of the villages on special days or to collect tribute, but they are by no means a fixture of the villages. In the best circumstances, villages are corrupted by chaos, and the people in them are happy to serve and indulge with the beastmen.
Probably worth mentioning too that the warherd is actively hated by other beastmen groups they run into. Their fixation on fineries and their generally odd behaviour usually has others paint them as not "true" children of chaos.
Personally, I've always found the beastmen's absolute hatred of civilization a little exaggerated. Yeah, they won't build shit like other civilizations, but they're still happy to use the fruits of it (ie look at the metal they use), and they will work with those who are more "civilized" (see Norsecans, Chaos Warriors, or even chorfs) - provided they serve chaos.
>>96254022>>96254091I'd love a AoI for this, a middenheim/reik/talacbenland/southern realms/non Cathay cucked westerland
>>96254091I remember the original presentation of ToW being the civil war. I think they just seriously have zero idea what to do with ToW and they're just going to end up mismanaging the fuck out of it.
>>96254105I wonder if at this point they'd rather pivot to Cathay being the "main" faction instead of the Empire.
>>96254091>>96254102They're likely waiting to release new miniatures to thoroughly squeeze your wallet while they bait you with civil war narrative. New Warrior Priests for Sigmar, Ulric, Taal and Manaan, to start with. Then White Wolf knights and new generic plastic knights.
>>96254269>more humans yay....
>>96254096Ahh well this version makes total sense, well crafted.
>>96254303I mean what else is there? Dark elves and Chorfs have no presence in the Old World which is the focus, and Rats/izards/ogres are being sold for AoS. Only vamps are left.
>>96248911Who would survive longer? A BOPE officer in a temple city or a Saurus in a favela?

>>96254834>best editions release the best sculpts Truly, a wonderful time to be a warhammer patrician.
>>96254834>>96254963To be fair, 8th had some decent stuff. The wood elf stuff, hammerers, dark elf fleetmaster, Medusa, assassin, lizardmen stuff, and the ogres for 8th off the top of my head.
>>96254780>the 2 ugliest AoS looking minis are actually le coolestkek
post your hulahoop Deathrattle Skeletons on their round bases
faggot
Why the fuck does the Moot's boarders shift over to the World's Edge Mountains every other edition? Get your shit together GW.
I'm going to my first ever tournament next week. I've only played with two good friends previously. I don't care so much about winning but I don't want to be stomped. People at the event will probably bring competitive lists. Would my dwarf list get totally wrecked?

Organ Gun - 120
My game plan would typically be to deploy compact in a corner. Try to hold objectives with core, bunker down artillery with engineer. And just try to do as much damage as possible with the rest. Runelord goes in longbeard unit and thane runs solo close to a unit probably longbeards.
Thoughts from any experienced players?
>>96255338Rune Lord might be an overkill and will save you some points if you switch to s runesmith. Maybe try to fit in a sapper into one of the core blocks for that dangerous terrain aura
>>96255215Nevermind, I double checked and the current Old World map is the only one I can find that shows the Moot going all the way to the World Edge Mountains. No idea why they did that.
>>96254834>seven years before that.
>>96250848Very nice work Anon.
>>96251132Same, great paint job.
>>96253957I was expecting different army syles like Mordheim: Reikand got more leadership, Middenheim more strength, Marienburg more ressources.
Nuln is rather meh, the knightly orders are all right, but nothing to sneeze at.
Myself, I just did the claws, gonna work on the metal tomorrow.
How do Empire armies fight, not necessarily in the game, but in the setting? Despite not using pikes, do they have something akin to pike and shot tactics with handgunners and spearmen/halberdiers?
>>96255432Thy used to have regimental units/detatchments so gunners would ahve pike support or vice-versa, now it's a 'universal rule', but the Empire was basically pike&shotte that way, with knihgts and pistoliers taking up the flanks
>>96255432Do you know why empire was the Ur regimental and detachment units faction?
They fight really varied. Knights, seiges works, bow and spear, mages and priests, gun and cannon, in lore it depends greatly what they are fighting and the composition they have.
That said coordination, planning, and grim determination to hold or fight so a plan can work or they can sell their lives dearly are hallmarks.
>>96255364No sapper for grand army unfortunately. I could drop the runelord for a smith and instead of longbeards go for hammerers?
>>96255367The WFRP 2e map did that too. There might be an earlier one as well, because it's unlikely WFRP made that change entirely by itself.
As for why - who the fuck knows? It's perhaps a more natural shape than a perfect oval right in the middle of the Empire.
I thought we'd got rid of that version so I have no idea why it has returned. Pretend that the borders got changed by Magnus after TOW.
>>96255367Will the Halfling's expanionist imperialism ever be stopped?
>>96255367>>96255590NTA, but here's a political map of the Empire, the Moot is just a blob of land
>>96255367>No idea why they did that.Specialist games probably just wanted to simplify the map, or they just forgot as that Averland/Sylvania border is rather undetailed. The Night's Dark Master's map is one of the few that bother with the area
>>96255548Oh yeah, I just saw multiple gyros and assumed you went expeditionary force, my bad. The points you saved on runelord I'd use to upgrade brimstone guns into clatterguns. I've found them better for the range and damage
>>96255684Thanks, any other suggestions? What do you think of longbeards vs hammerers?
Hello!
A friend of mine is trying to introduce me into Fantasy. With the release of Chorfs I'm actually a bit excited.
I'm not sure about buying in though. I have 2 unused boxes of Oathmark Dwarf Heavy Infantry and Oathmark Goblin Infantry. Which is around 60 models.
I've got this ~1000 points list, using the Chaos Dwarf army with the Renegades patch. Is this an okay start point? Should I reconsider?

Renegade Chaos Dwarfs [849 pts]

>>96254096Dig the entire concept and it gives a lot of room for stories to develop
>>96255956Everyone will avoid and outmaneuver your hammerers, longbeards are great for their price and are not that intimidating to your opponent. Give everyone GW+shield so they can tank the charge and dish some paint in the next combat round.
>>96256212>GW+shieldGay WAACfag shit
>>96256270Not him. Elaborate. Explain your point.
>>96256279I shouldn't have to as it's self evident.
>>96256212True, but that doesn't need to be weakness, right? Could help avoiding the enemy advancing to fast towards my artillery. Hammerers could also be placed behind my other units so if they are overrun they need to engage my hammerers. I would also have my runesmith in the unit, keeping him somewhat safe
>want to support uncle Mao's great revolution by getting Cathay battalion
>I literally can't get it

>>96256670>that knight artoof
>>96255969You probbaly need some artillery to force engagements, elves would dance around you all game. Or make hobbos ranged.
>>96256270It's for a tournament so no shit Sherlock
>>96256670Nice, any idea what order to make the knights? I'm partial to morr or panthers myself
>>96256670It's summer, why would I have mittens?
>>96256939I like knights of sigmars blood, but they don't have rules, so maybe white wolved

>>96256980Knights of the fiery heart have rules, so just run that list but in a Sigmars Blood paint scheme
This is definitely a new WE model isn't it
>>96257146Or a druid but 99% chance its not for us.
>>96257157>Or a druid but 99% chance its not for us.Nah, doesn't match the AoS armies (Slyvaneth) and WE are next in line for a model as the only army without one.
>>96257172That makes 0 sense but cope on buddy
Considering our spellweaver models are very popular would be a odd place to start adding stuff.
>>96257182>Considering our spellweaver models are very popular would be a odd place to start adding stuff. They had a NEW Royal Herald in Resin that was sold out constantly for Tomb Kings since release and replaced it barely a year and a half later with a new plastic one.
Don't doubt James Workshop's ability to decide new models as randomly as possible.
>>96257172Ah yes because Aos doesnโt get new designs that completely donโt mesh with the old ones like every other Sunday
>Looking at gitmob
>>96257199In that case I guess it could be for Dwarfs too!
>>96257228Aos did have those strange root kingsโฆ
>>96256968Taking stuff out of the oven, handling aggresive cats, improvised boxing gloves
>>96257228Wood Dwarves have been in AoS for nearly 10 year and people keep asking for models, so i wouldn't be shocked if it was that
>>96256270>WAACfag>Suggesting longbeards instead of gyrospampoor child
Made a start on my Zunderhan Rifles. These guys are local troops that serve the city directly, rather belonging to the Count-Generals personal househould forces that will be the bulk of the army, so they have a different uniform colour. They mainly serve as city guards and watchmen, but the Count-General being the First Marksman of the regiment is able to request some to support his private army in its wars.
>>96256939Thanks for the input! I'll definitely be turning the Hobgoblins into archers. As for siege, I really would like to play around and build some engines, they look like the funnest part of Chaos Dorfs, but this is a introductory force for me. Just to see if I even like the gameplay.
Also has anyone played with the Renegade rule set? How is it viewed in your stores?
>>96257941Renegade is pretty accepted since all it does is make those armies functional list building wise
>>96258256Well and add some mechanical changes to make stuff functional a la slann in temple guard and make rules tweaked fir that
Do beastmen have a concept of civilization and higher reasoning, or are they just rape monsters at all times?
Like, would a beastman be able to strategize a long term campaign or just RAROOO and charge his forces forward?
>>96258271read some stuff on beastmen anon the army books and recent Beastmen AJ answer your question
the new GM book for TOWRPG does as well

>>96258437Your miss judgment and arrogance of her skill and intent shall be your downfall weakling.
>>96258619Would it be a power move to use his hand as toilet paper.
>>96256212>>96255956The main advantage of Longbeards over Hammerers is that Longbeards are core if you take a King, and are without a doubt the best core choice Dwarfs, possibly anybody, can take. WS5 T4, S4, panic preventing LD9 bastards who get a 3+ save if they go HW+Shield as well as Runic Standard access. For (off the top of my head) 11pts a model.
Take a biggish block of like 17+20, lead by either your King or a BSB with the Rune of 5++ (because that's basically mandatory for dwarves) go in with three ranks of 6 or 7, maybe a rune of battle or two, and watch Cavalry fail off them and wonder why.
Pad out the rest of your core choices with 10 Thunderers with Shield blocks (who are also ABSURDLY tough as Ranged troops go) and then move on to your REALLY fucking insane stuff.

>>96254780It's crazy to think that people that were 12 when that thing came out are now 25. 10 years ago you would of been 100% trolling, but now there are people who actually grew up with that abomination and actually love it.
>>96259380Glad someone got the referance.
>>96251355>>96259380I appreciate you Heroes of Legendary and perhaps Galactic scale.
When you thunk about it Karl and Reinhard are similar
did they ever figure out how to reverse the stone curse?
>>96254780It has terrible proportions and looks ass, all the parts of it cool but if you think it looks good as a whole you genuinely are just lacking a concept of aesthetics.
What parts of the Empire do you think have the most similar culture to each other? As in, which parts could be broadly said to occupy the same culture groups? Personally I see it as;
Southerners: Reikland, Wissenland, Averland
Central: Talabecland, Stirland
Northern: Nordland, Middenland
Eastern: Ostland, Ostermark
North-Central: Hochland
>>96260547Reikland and Wissenland, particularly the cities, are the stereotypical imperial, sigmar henotheism is basically universal, and any culturual deviance is just due to Nuln having some natural impulses towards independence that occationally bring it into conflict with the crown
Talabecland and Stirland are the eastern rural folk, where sigmar is worshipped frequently, but is below Taal and Rhya in prominance, and culture is much less urbane and localized.
Averland forms a sort of borderland between those two cultures, where southern "Imperial" culture is tempered by a bit more independent spirit.
Middenland is it's own beast who's a bit like canada where they just hard core larp at anything that makes them feel like they aren't the same as their betters (Reikland), even though they're basically just the same thing. Hochland is what middenland wishes it was, without the larping.
Ostermark, Nordland, and Ostland all have highly independent cultures due to being near constantly under threat, and isolated from the imperial heartland, you can probably peg someone you met in Altdorf as being from any one specifically unlike Stirland and Talabecland which you might confuse. They all have a shared spirit of self sufficiency, but little specifics in common.
Just started painting a unit of longbeards (6th edition ones that I got 3D printed). Need some motivation painting 20 of these old fuckers. I airbrushed all of the silver but damn I've still got a lot to go through.
>>96260378They can transfer their curse (or at least its progression) to another person through magic.
God-blood is also a substance strong enough to break any curse although that may only be Total Warhammer fluff.
