>>96255430I have seen thoracle appear in a single game that wasn't cedh, and it was in a mono-U merfolk deck. It's an underwhelming winmore card without ad naus/consultation instantly clearing your deck for it to win the game.
I think I might be into futa now, commanders for this feel?
>>96255573felothar, breya, vannifar
I love Thalia. I wish I could kiss her but I can't and never will. I love to imagine her buttermilk hair shining in the moonlight, I wish I could keep watch with her from the stone parapets of Thraben and see her bluish eyes reflecting little orange pinpricks of torchlight. I wish I could hear her voice, sweet but strong. I wish I could carry her when she is injured in battle, take her to safety. I would take a hundred arrows in my back for her, as many as it took to kill me, to keep her safe. I would bleed for Thalia without question. I understand why Odric did what he did. Even after 3 years I still love her, part of me does. I don't know what it is. Maybe just an idea. My girlfriend left me because I couldn't get hard for her. Is probably have the same problem if I married Thalia. I am utterly worthless scum. I had my testosterone measured and it was only 600. I'm in shape but still skinny and weak. So not really in shape. I am too weak to even die for Thalia as cannon fodder to keep the beautiful guardian of Thraben alive. Sometimes I imagine her ramming her rapier up to its beautiful basket hilt into my scrawny chest and purging my worthless existence from this world. I don't feel like that other times, but when I think of her true beauty and purity and perfection and virtue, I cant help feeling utterly worthless by comparison. Lost my job and maybe I will just play Magic til the money runs out. In some ways it hurts too much to play a deck with Thalia in it.... In other ways it is just the sort of pain that I need.
>>96255425That's cool bro, here draw some extra cards.
>>96255733>imagine defending this butt ugly art>it's good because it's oldthere, some takes so bad they are funny
So I recently got into commander by playing some precons, and I had a lot of fun. I was thinking of trying to make my own deck and stick to a theme while doing it. My friend said going tribal is an easy way to start (e.g. all goblins with Krenko as commander), but some guy at our LGS who we were playing with said that's bad since tribal sucks and doesn't teach you how to build. What should I do?
>>96255928That guy likely got his shit pushed in by Krenko.
Just pick a playing style/commander you like, scryfall for cards that work well with it, put some lands and draw cards in. It doesn't matter if it sucks at first, you can just build from there.
>>96255928what theme do you like, anon?
>>96255942That was exactly my idea.
>I like red, red is fun>goblins are cool>oh dude Krenko can make exponential amounts of goblins>what if I make a deck where the entire board overflows with goblins I guess it's just a question of which goblins to use, as well as any sorceries/artifacts and instants I'd want to include.
>>96255950Goblins. It seems absolutely silly to me to just be running around with a gorillion 1/1 token goblins, buff them up, and then murder massive legendary creatures with swarm tactics.
>>96255928Ignore the faggot saying tribal sucks and build a good (non-pushed) creature tribal deck. Remember that it doesn't just mean all vamps or cats, you can have fun dumb things like haste tribal.
Tribal is an excellent way to deck build because it forces limitations and creative thinking on you while you learn to deck build, as opposed to just making a good stuff slop pile with budget X/Y/Z. That's why you avoid the pushed races when you make your first deck(s) because it's too piss easy to build busted shit with elves/goblins/dragons/zombies/wizards/etc.
>>96255953Keep in mind that Krenko decks live or die depending on if they can get haste or not since no ne will let you untap with that thing on board.
>>96255984Yeah I figured. Thankfully red has a lot of options, like even Tannuk from the new set.
I've been looking at self mill builds to get ideas. Is there a reason nobody runs these? They are very strong in other formats.
>>96255994What makes you think no one runs them?
>>96255953also people will focus you for playing an infamous combo commander, no matter if you have it in the deck or not
there is muxus if you want another option for a lower power deck
>>96255998None of the builds online I see have either. Sometimes they have the delve murder spell, but thats about it.
>>96256006I guess they're afraid of one time +1s or +2s and just use Rhystic and Fish. Either that or they feel bad removing cards from their grave.
>>96255994I run them both in Sin, delve is great and lets me control Sin's inherit randomness a bit by weeding out pieces I don't want to revive.
>>96255999My friend did that last week, sorta.
>Eldrazi deck with Ulalek>he manages to get an early flash option>whips out Zhulodok>makes TWO Zhulodoks and cascades 4 times>proceeds to wipe everyoneThat shit felt like cancer, and it kinda makes me want to build an Eldrazi deck some day.
>>96256026pretty much every tribe can pop off but eldrazi are known for those high end bombs if left unchecked
>two zhulodoksone would have died to the legend rule but ulalek can still copy that shit later to have 4 cascades yeah
>>96256091I guess that's what happened. All I could think was "wait he get to cycle through his deck FOUR times and gets to play shit for free FOUR times?" It just ended up with 3 titans hitting the board and everyone getting deleted because Ulamog had Annihilator 8 on him. I took a cursory glance at the cost of Eldrazi cards, and they're all batshit insane.
>titans go for $40 each>most of his lands were in the $50-$100 range>even some of the spells were $50+>entire deck was hovering near $2,000And here I am trying to make a Goblin deck for like $100.
>>96256091Also, since my brain didn't work much that night, how DOES Ulalek work? From what my friend told me:
>Ulalek can pay CC to copy something if you cast an Eldrazi spell (AKA everything in a tribal deck, for the most part)>this makes a duplicate copy of the spell (including creatures, which create a token copy which has all their abilities)>IF you have flash, you can slap down a bunch of things at instant speed, and because everything is flash, it's all on the stack, and thus you can copy the entire stack instead of just one spell/creature for a single cost of CCIs that right? Beacuse if so, that seems fucking wacky.
Look at me, I'm now the spellslinger deck.
How do we feel about shapeshifters in tribal decks?
>>96256164Perfectly fine. Anyone complaining about it are bad at making decks.
>>96256164They're funny guys, and it fits their lore for them to be sneaking into random tribal decks.
>How do you do, fellow [insert random species here]?
>>96256164Kind of a necessary evil for any smaller tribe with less support. I'm glad they exist even if it's not the best solution.
>>96256106eldrazi are the most popular tribe so yeah the prices are up there if you don't print yourself. however, the feeling of beating someone running better/expensive cards with a budget deck is the feeling I try and chanse every game
>>96256141yeah sounds about right and it is powerful flash just makes it instant speed which is even more so. he could copy everything on the stack on his turn anyway but flash enables that he can put more things on there essentially. explaining it is a bit cumbersome and sometimes when I try tell how things work in the game (even after the basics) it feels like I'm making shit up so I get it lol
>>96256175>explaining it is a bit cumbersomeIs there some sort of guide on exactly how it works? I still need to wrap my head around him.

>>96256224I tried, but most people just give the explanation I was given (
>>96256141). I was hoping there was a more detailed guide, unless that's all there is to it?
>>96256246Mirror Entity is one of the best wincons for wide white decks.
My friends and I want to do another deck exchange and we need to exchange names soon, but we are still trying to pick a restriction. Last year we did where everyone had to build partners, it turned out really well.
What would be another fun restriction? One thing I was thinking was we'd randomly pick a popular tribe, like humans or goblins or something, and we'd have to build that. If any anons have an idea I'd love to hear it.
>>96256316well it's because the rules of the card are tied very closely to the base mechanics so to explain how the card works one would have to explain all the basic mechanics like the stack. in all simplicity, eldrazi sometimes have these cast triggers that go on the stack at the same time they are, that is before resolving anything. they can then copy those by paying CC. if they have flash, they can respond to their own spells at instant speed by putting more stuff on the stack and THEN copy all that shit. that's it
He looks like he gets fucked by human men.

Hes genuinely new to magic, but hes grinded other games like yugioh and hs for years, and hes definitely downplaying his ability.
I only started commander last year and made this group myself. First time I've seen one of our players get so heated about something. The table constantly tries to coach him on optimal plays, which he ignores, and wins anyways, so I'm wondering if they view it as a respect thing.
They didn't need to make the game much easier for new people.....
>>96256797Your "buddy" is ripping you off
>>96256874Yeah it's pretty fucking egregious. Like they couldn't find anything else to do other than make a 1:1 improvement of an old beloved card?
>>96256871What deck is he playing and what is the meta in your group?
>>96256920>>96256897Since he was a yugioh player, I imagine he went to reddit and made a fast combo deck and the timmies are upset their wurm decks are losing on turn 5. I don't know, but I'm pretty sure this is close to accurate.
>>96256920Hes playing other peoples decks and just rotating right now.
Like last night, he won with a blue/black faerie control deck.
A couple nights prior he one with someone's mono black mill/GY deck.
I tend to play a lot of mono red, but the meta with our group is usually a lot of white with a fuck load of token generation, or voltron.
>>96256932Negative, he pretty much plays whatever I or someone else gives him at the moment. But I wouldn't be surprise if he did that with his own deck when he builds one this weekend.
>>96256906I believe there's a lot of truth in what someone once said about this kind of thing:
"It's not powercreep to print a better version of a card nobody is playing".
>>96256941>Hes playing other peoples decksabsolute slill issue, they're mad he (a new player) is beating them (experience player) with random decks (that they made and he is unfamiliar with), so they can't even use decks and cards as an excuse
>>96256943Disingenuous. No one is playing either of these except in the casual 99-card format, and in those instances Doran works fine as toughness matters. Instead of a pushed-to-shit wincon with obscene draw engine slop stapled on.
>>96256974It's balanced because he costs one less mana!
>>96256974Hi, welcome to the casual 99-card format. We hope you enjoy your stay.

>>96256989>stopped reading halfway into the sentence
>>96256974I've been of the opinion for a while now, that wizards has been progressively shaping commander to much more closely resemble the pacing and tempo of 60 card formats, not as a side effect of pushed cards, but intentionally
Eventually they don't want it to be "the casual format" but "THE format"

>erm, your deck is too TUNED for bracket x
What the fuck does this mean? Do you just have to give yourself brain damage until you forget basic fundamentals of deckbuilding to play at brackets under 4?
>>96257107you're too good at deckbuilding that's what it means
>>96257107I unironically have this trouble with my friends who are all very amateur deck builders just getting back into the game with FF cards and even my bracket 2 decks get called out for being to well tuned because I have some ramp and an actual mana base in them and know how to keep a man curve under control.
>>96257139I just don't understand the delineation. Do you have to take the precon mentality and just have a random pile of 10 cards thrown in that have nothing to do with your strategy?
>>96257107its a compliment, you have autism.
>>96257107>>96257149From what I've deduced, since I've been in a similar situation:
>any random pile of shit = 1>precon straight out of the box, no changes = 2>you bought a few cards for like $50 or less = 3>you have some big boy cards (ancient tomb, etc) = 4>you're sweaty = 5
>>96257149>good mana base that hits your pip requirements>understanding how your deck should curve out>avoiding clunky creatures that don't have immediate value>having a plan B and C>comboing out with cards that do something else for you outside of the combothese aren't things the average casual understands
>>96257198Ancient Tomb is a gamechanger and therefore bracket 3
>>96257107It either means your friends are bad at the game or you're doing the retarded bit where you claim brackets are based on "vibes" and you are therefore justified in making cracked decks because daddy isn't going to give you the belt over the number of tutors you've jacked into your "Bracket 2".

Granted, I can just hypothetically run this as my only tempt card and I would just have to deal with it for a bit until my ring-bearer dies, yeah?
>>96257249Nah, when I moved away from combo or random "I win" cards ala Craterhoof or Hailfire, I started having way more fun playing.

>>96256164My friends fucking seethe when I slot a bunch of changelings to pad out a tribal deck. But then they seethe if the tribal deck has a single creature outside its type, so I've just gone on to ignore every single criticism they've made.

so whats the real difference between brackets one and two anyway? are there people out there really trying to brew decks worse than the average precon? and are these people upsetty spaghetti enough to warrant their own bracket?
bracket one should be precons, 2 should be upgraded precons including some game changers. then 3, 4 and 5 should be whatever's left I dont really care.
>>96257326There was a time where my friends were way more into edh than they are now and I got into the habit of buying every set of precons when they came out because they would come to me to buy them. I would keep the leftovers and sell them once they went up in price. I got left with a lot of the worst ones that are still like 30 bucks and a bunch of japanese ones that I thought would be cool but nobody wants.
>>96257336bracket 1 is sovl

>>96257336Bracket one is a worthless bracket. It's less played than CEDH, the idea being you didn't build your deck to win or even play. But to show off a stupid theme like "Look I have every letter of the alphabet on the board."
The truth being, if you're running a bracket one deck and you want to "power match" other bracket one decks, you're actually a loser. You should sit down with your bracket one gimmick at a real table without telling anyone that you're essentially playing a different game than them.
They'll realize when all the cards in your deck start with J.
I dislike "precons" and "upgraded precons" as the basis because it implies that building your own fucking deck is the exception and not the rule.

that said, felothar is 1 mana more, which makes a difference sometimes, especially if you want to use doran to beat peoples' faces in with undercosted toughness boosting auras/equipment.
>>96258151>Neither card specifically destroys lands.ok, ill bite on this obvious bait.
the intention of the ban on destroying lands is not that the text on the card is to be avoided but the gamestate of having no more lands on the battlefield. In the same way that mass exiling lands or sunder is not "mass land DESTRUSTION" I think it is disingenuous to argue that it is allowable.
>>96258184Are you too retarded to use a custom card making website to generate your retarded ideas onto a fake card?

>>96258259Going though everyone's deck card by card to confirm their power level. It takes ages and is not worth it.
>>96258259>Which is the superior deck grading?formats
I'm sorry, no more land destruction going forward.
>>96257421since we're still having this conversation,
4 is "anything goes." there are no deckbuilding restrictions. you can be as mean as you want or as fast as you want.
5 is "competitive tournament viable." there is a meta, there are supporting sites, there are tournaments with prizes. you need to be fast to compete with other people who are fast, you need to stop people from winning in order to win. you need to stop other people from stopping you from winning.
>>96258314The rules in general is what keeps this game alive. Only reason why people still play it. Art doesn't matter, flavor text doesn't matter, since most of that is complete garbage since the beginning of mtg. It's the gameplay.
>>96258338right and this is why we have UB now :)
>>96258332MLD stands for mass lend denial, dummy. It's not about destruction. See blood moon.
>>96258215Id go Liberator, Koz would scare the table any likely try to take you out first. Also, flying commander's are good
>>96258314IMO it's the very literal wording, the stack and the allowing of interaction between cards and between players.
A lot of card games tend to say "no" to synergies between cards, mtg says "yes".
My experience with card games is limited to pokemon, mtg and like a dozen FFG LCGs.
>>96257420The 99 deck tries also giving kit for Graha'Tia, which makes whole deck pretty unfocused on specific playstyle.
>>96258335That's not true either, people are talking about cedh and tedh now, because not every cedh player goes to tournaments.

>>96258345Shakespeare was added pretty early on, you should've stopped playing mtg back then.
>>96258360>my deck is literally a 7.5It's hilarious how every single time someone tries to solve the restraint problem it boils down to the exact same non-solution.
>>96258306What on earth are you talking about?
>>96258335The problem with this thought pattern is that cEDH is a whole different format compared to tEDH, which means tournament edh. Tournaments have time controls, points politics and shit like that. Seatings.
If you host a cEDH game you do not get a tEDH game.
>>96258366i play mtg for the gameplay as you stated so why would i stop because of shakespeare lol
>>96258366who owns the license for Shakespeare? or Arabian nights for the matter?
>>96258356>A lot of card games tend to say "no" to synergies between cards, mtg says "yes". Infinites get struck down in other games really quickly, but it's fun to go infinite in MTG. Stuff like additional turns are unthinkable in other games, and paper-unfriendly token spam is another concept that I don't really see in other TCGs.
>>96258360>75% rule>the number 75 is not explained

>>96258373I know, right? What's so bad about UB? lol
Imagine getting triggered by cards
>>96258367the restraint problem can only be solved when brackets are treated like formats, because none of this "7" talk is present in standard vintage modern etc
>>96258384It's ai, why even engage with it?
>>96258386for me personally, yes.
that being said I am glad that Arabian Nights was an anomaly of a set and that revisiting the concept later in MTGs history resulted in a significant MTGifying of the settings as opposed to taking a popular IP that I may or may not care about and shoving it whole cloth into an existing franchise that I do care about.
>>96258358you can play tournament level random pickup games at your LGS. not everyone wants to play in an actual tournament because of how annoying they can be.
I'd analogize it to pokemon (the video game). you can join a tournament, which requires placing in qualifying events events, travel, (sufficiently) legitimate 'mons, and sitting down across from people and playing; or you can play on a battle simulator where you punch your team in, queue up for a tournament ruleset match and it runs everything for you.
>>96258399i'm pro UB btw, because at least there i have a chance of seeing pretty women
>>96258404The restraint problem can only be solved by the players.
No amount of rules are going to get you any closer to solving it. The cardpool is too big, the players are too innovative and the worst angle shooters imaginable reside in this playerbase.
>>96258366Yes they did a thing said it was a mistake and said they wouldn't do it anymore. Heck they had an entire UB set in early magic
>>96258422>The restraint problem can only be solved by the players.obviously they can't because no two people will ever agree on anything, an officiating body is needed
again nobody talks about "muh 7 power level" in formats
>>96258367>>96258360You clowntards fail to understand why this framework works. Like the bracket system, it doesnโt exhaustively define itself, to weed out autists who require the guard rails and would optimize the fun out of it.
The point is to just make a deck that you can choose to play optimally if you need to sweat, but ultimately have lots of play for fun cards because itโs a casual format. A four person free for all is not a balanced or inherently competitive format to take seriously.
Example deck: https://archidekt.com/decks/13429111/kefka_max
how many % of your deck is just goodstuff slop that has nothing to do with your commander?
>>96258396>Sephiroth >Blood Artist >Bastion of Remembrance >Zulaport Cutthroat There you go, that is literally all you need. You're in black, you have card draw, recursion, and tutors.
I have never been "pub stomped" in 3 years even when playing a precon. No one ever sets power level in any pod I go to. It's something needed for fags who have a mental breakdown because some dude made infinite non-haste zombies.
>>96258434>1v1 is the only competitive thing>free for alls are not competitive everwhy is sprinting/racing an olympic sport again?
>>96258439I'll just play cEDH RogSi for that. None of the cards in the deck have anything to do with the commander.
>>96258439Isn't it meant to be like 40+ cards? 10 rocks, 10 removal, etc etc?
Some archetypes have 0 cards that do that stuff while supporting their commander.
>>96258434>replies to someone saying essentially the same thing as himWhat is it with /edhg/ and soapboxes
>>96258460Every deck should have 10 sources of ramp and 36 lands bare minimum. You go from there based off of colors and game plan
>>96258447Fair enough, thanks. I have them all, and yea was planning on adding a good ammount of recursion because Im using Vincent as the commander and plan on leaning in hard towards removal since Vincent want everything to hit the graveyard

When playing Yosei, the Evening Star as your general in the Elder Dragon Highlander format, your deckbuilding goal is to form what is colloquially known as a "lock" wherein your opponents are unable to untap any of their permanents similar to the blue card "Stasis"

>>96259373>Search library for 0 or 1 cost artifact and put into playClose but wrong. >>96258896I freely admit that I'm not the best at remembering all the rules to things by any means but I always figured priority made a fair amount of sense for simplification. You want to do X so you cast it, see if it resolves, if it does, you move on to Y and repeat the process/ it doesn't resolve due to player interaction and you see if you want to deal with that issue. So if you're casting a board wipe that you want to be asymmetrical, you put on protection first, then nuke the place, you can't nuke the place then put protection on, that doesn't make sense, and everybody gets a chance to deal with one problem at a time if they want to interact with every individual part of the turn. 1. Path to Exile targets for cost, 2. Cloudscape is casted and resolved. 3. Any ETB trigger, and if Elesh is on the field, her ability would also trigger. 4. Those steps would resolve, then Path of Exile would fail to resolve, due to the target leaving the field, the creature it originally targeted being a new creature in the state of the game.
>>96259975Sounds right to me
>>96259959Kek i thought i was the only one who nooticed it, Patrolling Peacemaker turbo accelerated a game in my Hamza, shit was cash.
>>96259466Tarkir lore canonized Gay Bolas so it will forever be the most based set.
>>96259986Also, just as a slight aside, do you generally refer to cards worded such as Path to Exile as cards that "target for cost." Or is targeting not considered as a cost in Magic.
>>96259959every other card these days is "busted af"
who the fuck gives a shit at this point?
>>96259975targeting isn't a cost, but yes you avoid removal with cloudshift the way you think, and ETBs would go on the stack above the removal.

>>96260013Targetting is not a part of the cost, it's a function/requirement of the spell. Any extra costs outside of the mana cost will be declared on the card, pic rel for example
>>96259887making the Chaos Emeralds Lotus Petals was devoid of flavour - you can't even use the full set in a deck. Looking forward to the Dragon Ball secret lair, where they make the Dragon Balls fucking LOTUS PETALS
>>96259959>will trigger x3 minimum each table turnI have my doubts on this. It varies wildly depending on the table I've found. Most of the tables I've seen concern themselves with building their own boards rather than going after their opponent's. Excluding attacking. If it triggered off you committing a crime too then it he great. Otherwise relying on your opponents doing a specific action like targeting seems iffy.
>>96260043They'll be 7 of mox amber
I haven't played commander before. How sweaty does it get on a LGS level? Will people be packing counters out the ass if I try to play Eldrazi solitaire?
>>96260073either yes or they're all also playing eldrazi solitaire
>>96260073No one here can know the local meta of your place.
>>96259959I'm currently thinking of where to slot this and insight engine in tidus
>>96260073Depends. Though if you sit down at a table intending to just play with yourself and win you'll probably get away with that the first game, then one or more other players at the table will switch to more stronger decks.
Commander's Quarters
Whatever happened there?
>>96260096he's back, I've been seeing videos. I guess he went on a break for a bit.
>>96260081Well fine. How's the meta at YOUR LGS then?
>>96260091The way it works at my place is
>you pay $12>you automatically guarantee yourself two boosters of your choice, win or lose>4 player pods>if you beat your pod, you go into the winners' pod and get another 2 boosters>winners' pod players get 1 booster per opponent they knock outWhat this means is you never face an opponent you met previously, which keeps the element of surprise on your side (unless someone is a salty loser and spoils it).
>>96260015NTA, you are correct, but it's interesting in regard to the EoE commander set. I follow each set release, and i've never seen any EDH set with so few value in it. The most expensive card is a $7 multi reprinted staple, and beside a dozen cards worth 3 or so bux, everything is in the $1 range.
Now the prerelease is behind us, no store will want to mass open or even approach this set with a 10-ft pole. On top of EoE being released in the dead middle of summer holidays between two majors UB sets who sucked up all the attention.
Supply for singles will dry up fast if a staple from the new cards emerge. Eventually there is always a winner or 2 balancing the value for each crappy set, even in lost Ixalan, that's how mtg economics work. With EoE singles price being so low and only 20 non-reprints (almost half being lands), you have good odds at identifying the future "cash printer" from the set and make a x5-x8 out of it.
t. evil speculatoor
>>96260098I meant more "why did his viewership crater to nothing?" That usually only happens to a channel after some sort of scandal.
>>96260106yeah, he makes scandalously bad videos with shit takes
>>96260073You will be getting 1v3ed with eldrazi in any context.
>>96260100>Well fine. How's the meta at YOUR LGS then?I play in the same pod all the times so I cannot give an opinion on the rest of the shop.
>>96260106oh, he's actually been uploading the whole time.
maybe it's an algorithm thing? they already don't like list format stuff.
>>96260032>>96260018I figured as much, its just a layover from Yugioh, where it is something we say. On a meta-level, it is technically not a cost, but is easier to say then activation procedure and resolved at the same time as the cost.
Now on another subtle note, are there any instances or effects that resolve where you can choose "targets" but do not specify as so. The only reason I bring this up is due to Hexproof preventing targeting. For this example, I will use the example of an opponent with just a Segarda in play.
Scenario 1: "Take control of target creature." would be an invalid target and would be unable to activate due to not being a legal target.
Scenario 2: "Take control of a target opponents creature." Would resolve due to targeting the player, and not the creature.
Scenario 3: "Take control of a creature." Now, I am unsure if Magic has any effects worded as such, but if such an effect did exist where the word "target" was not specified, it would resolve, as hexproof only stops the creature from being targeted outright. I only specify these semantics out of curiosity. I guess ultimately, are there any cards in this game that effecitvly "target," but do not use the word "target," as boardwipes kill hexproof creatures.
>>96260100Oh you're rewarded for performance? That usually means you're going to see a lot of people playing to win above all else. Prepare for counters then. Most game stores i go to just roll a dice and give a pack to a player at the table regardless of performance.
>>96260117I guess the next question is then how do you protect your ass long enough to start swinging with the titans? Because I'd imagine the jig is instantly up the moment they see wastes or Ulalek getting played.
>>96260105I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I went to pick up my singles assuming it'd be around 50 bucks and it was 12. Set is very cheap which is quite nice. Not an investor just tangentially relevant input
>>96260135My LGS is a mix of both. You always get your money's worth (e.g. $12 entry gets you two boosters), so you never lose money playing. You just win more if you can pull off wins. They claim it's a casual environment, but I suspect that's a fucking lie.
>>96258751theres really only one or two fallout 1/2 cards I can think of in PIP. a bunch more NV cards I suppose.
>>96260106I didn't even notice that. Stopped seeing his videos recommended and I just assumed he took a break or something. Wouldn't have thought he's been posting all this time.
>have a Japanese card
>rest of the table gives me a funny look when I explain what it does
>I was playing it wrong the whole time
>>96260100>Well fine. How's the meta at YOUR LGS then?gay and trans, next question.
>>96260128yes, hexproof/shroud/protection are not valid targets for their respective effects.
>scenario 1correct
>scenario 2correct
>scenario 3there are effects that say "choose a creature," those don't target, but are rare or otherwise weird in some way that mean they need to fall back on the exact order of when you need to make that choice (you 'pick modes' like 'choose one' or 'choose a creature' before picking targets).
"choose a target creature" is still normal targeting, it's just a weird phrasing to make the instructions flow better.
>>96260140Believe me i was the first surprised, especially considering that, well... the set is good. Like really good in truth. Imho it's clearly linked to a very low demand due to a bunch of bad timing circumstances, rather than low-power lack of interest from players. When they will wake up from their summer comatose, they will figure out there is some good shit in there.
If you are already set then good for you anon, you might have saved yourself few future bux.
>>96260158what card was it, anon
>>96260158sounds fun, 'xplain in detail what you did wrong, and how ashamed you felt. It's time for /edhg/ to judge you anon.
>>96260105>EoE Commander set [...] so few value>Watching Prof hype up the bicycle lands and tango lands>The lands in their cycle are like, a dollarI understand he was excited because they're meant to be affordable dual lands for budget players, but I don't know how anybody can get excited for a bicycle land... because it has proper land-typing? It's still a tapland. Versatility, in that it can be turned into a draw? Land-type Matters cards of WORTH are usually outside of a budget players willing to run this cheap shit. I guess he's still riding on the hype of that Nightmare he got 30 years ago, or whatever. Tango lands I wouldn't consider outside of a two colour deck.
>>96260136The jig is up as soon as you show them your commander. You pretty much just have to hope you have all is dust and your little eldrazi can hold down the fort long enough.
>>96260128>layover from YugiohOh. You're in a similar boat as I was. Yeah you don't have to really worry about targeted vs non-targeted removal in this game. Outside of board wipes or being made to sacrifice things it's not really too common. Effectively most cards run under your first scenario. Targeting is the vast majority of this game. There are a couple others but those explicitly say either all of a thing or all of a thing that hit certain criteria like all creatures of a certain mana value.
>>96260172>>96260178Adventurous Impulse. Turns out I was playing it like an Abundant Harvest the entire time. I was literally cheating
>>96260194Just mention it next time you see them, nobody will care.
>>96260146>They claim it's a casual environmentYeah I doubt that too. Of course I don't really know for sure but the moment prizing comes up people usually play to win and causal feelings go out the window. I'd say play it safe and prepare for that mindset.
>>96260186>but I don't know how anybody can get excited for a bicycle landDid you factor in the prof is utterly retarded and still don't know anything about how to play this game even after 30 years? I think that's the answer to your very valid concerns about these dogshit lands.
>>96260194>Turns out I was playing it like an Abundant Harvest the entire timeThat's pretty sad, send me your btc wallet, i'll send you $0.02 so you can afford a real Abundant Harvest for your next game.
>>96260209>that time he was on that EDH channel playing against Post Malone >he plays a turn 2 Dockside for 2 mana that generated 2 treasure tokens >realizes right before his next turn how retarded this play was and makes everyone take back their turns so he can redo his I shan't ever be watching that fags "content" after that blunder
Why isn't this a game changer, it wins the game when it comes down
I'm decking up the first draft of my first aggro/voltron/red EDH deck.
>pic related
I threw a bunch of equipment, combat tricks/doublers, a few creatures, tons of mana rocks and removal, including Armageddon. It was really hard getting it from 110 cards down to 100. Hope it works.
>>96260237because it doesnt win the game when it comes down, you need a lot of other things already in place for it to win the game when it comes down or when you hit it with a genesis wave x = 50
>>96260237Ok Marwyn-sama, calm down, not everybody wanna play storm elves in edh.

Better than ending up in some scalpers closet for years, better than ending up in some rich youtube fags pack cracking hands. Just some guy. Beyond life changing money.
>>96260231His product reviews of deck boxes and sleeves are good
>>96260186>Tango lands I wouldn't consider outside of a two colour deck.Good thing I play 2 and 3 coloubdecks :^)
>>96260274Post seems like a really cool guy, but I can't take him seriously with all those tattoos and shit.
How do I get into his pod?
>>96260274that's indeed a wholesome story
>>96260332The thing is, he's really just some nerdy introvert and always has been. He just came in at the right time and blew up. The image is all a front, he always acts like a quiet and respectful dude in any videos I have ever seen of him. I don't care for his music but I'd definitely shuffle up with him. He's a solid player and never salty. Also he doesn't overtune his decks like that faggot football player who only builds CEDH shit to pubstomp with
>>96260374>He's a solid player and never salty. Also he doesn't overtune his decks like that faggot football player who only builds CEDH shit to pubstomp withThat's cool. Is there some links to his decks? I'm interested now. Who is the football player?
>>96260186i was actually looking for a golgari tangoland reccently and was happy about the announcement
>>96260393He brought this deck to Game Knights one time. Super cool deck and he won with Sun Quan which was based. Cassius Marsh is the football player fag and he just throws money at his netdecks and always expects to win. There's a youtube video of him trying to combo off on turn 2 or 3, and he scoops the moment someone had an answer and shut him down. Dead serious. So for the entire rest of the video he's sitting there with his mic ripped off steaming mad. So, not a real Magic fan.
>>96260231so you never make mistakes or what? get ready for it to get worse as you age.
prof has many shortcomings and stupid takes, but him being a airhead and doing dumb shit in games is one of his few redeeming qualities
