>TQDo you have any unconventional strategies you employ at your table?
>>96260565 (OP)>Do you have any unconventional strategies you employ at your table?>that picoh i'm laffin
Kek what the fuck is going on in that pic. Dude looks 80 IQ
>>96260565 (OP)>TQi like to annoy people with telepathy effects
Why are so many EDH players such babies. They give this format such a bad name
>>96260583>Mono Artifactdamn, it's tap to look.
>no interrupting someone's turn multiple times w/ 'Hey, bud, let me look at your hand' -> "Wait, wait, I forgot what's in your hand, I wanna look at it again"
>>96260612you can just play telepathy itself if you want everyone to be annoyed or the table to become a mess as people try to line up their hands at the bottom of their playmats
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>96260626But then my balls are ALSO exposed. Although, I guess an asymmetrical hand reveal that exempts the user would probably get everybody to gang up on you.
>>96260565 (OP)>Do you have any unconventional strategies you employ at your table?More related to duel formats, but I like "fidgeting" with a card/couple of lands to bluff a response. In Yu-Gi-OhI'd do it by fidgeting with the "backrow" (instant speed spells you had to set face down on the board) to bluff interaction. I've repurposed it by visually messing with a couple of lands and fingering a specific card a couple of times.
>>96260631thankfully theres a symmetrical version as well
>>96260639wait, i'm retarded, and misread telepathy, even though I've looked at it at least twice before. fuck.
>>96260105I just tried to give it a chance but i must be 'tarded, because i couldn't tell for the life of me what will be the money maker from the edh set.. they all seems good in their own way, but not OP.
maybe pic rel lol? idk, i kinda want to tinker around with this.
Would you shuffle up and play with Posty?
>>96260565 (OP)Nearly a decade later and my desire to punch that pretentious faggot in the face is still as strong as it has ever been.
Have you ever cheated while playing with the boys?
>placed top 3 of my first CEDH night
Yeah, I'm something of a badass myself.
>>96260670God no.
I'm sorry, I don't care how he's supposedly such a nice guy, no one mentally stable does that to their own visage. Covering yourself in tattoos, particularly on the face suggests poor impulse control, unstable self-image, and perhaps even a desire to self-harm. Not someone I want to be spending any amount of time around.
>>96260683That table must've smelled something fierce
>>96260670Only if he agreed to a high stakes game where the loser has to get all their stupid tattoos removed and to get a normal hair cut.
>>96260689Honestly it wasn't any worse than any other MTG event I've been to. I will say people were definitely fatter than usual and absolutely zero women showed up.
>>9626069728 person event, I managed to win 2 games and one tied.
>>96260682i do this all the time and its never really on purpose a lot of people just play with their hands really far out and its hard not to see it if your sitting next to them
i thankfully dont gawk that hard though at least
best home for this combo?
>>96260662it's nice for redundancy, but unless you're moving ten counters between spaceships I can't think of any time I'd usually do this for more than X = 3
also planets aren't valid targets.
>>96260719just slap it in a brown tribal commander like urza
Why have none of you bastards ever told me about this card? It's hilarious.
When did Toskiposter come back?
>>96260727Isn't this just a meta call? Only affects graveyard cards with inherent abilities and cards that trigger upon being put into the graveyard (and not including death triggers)?
>>96260565 (OP)>Do you have any unconventional strategies you employ at your table?I play unbelievably attractive furry fag bois to tilt the table.
>>96260662>i couldn't tell for the life of me what will be the money maker from the edh set..budget version of the one ring?
>>96260670Yeah, but only if we play in a contest for our most valuable cards

>>96260727Mass exile is better, but this can be paired with it
>>96260783I know lmao. I just thought it was funny since casual commander night is like 30% womyn at my store.
>>96260791Interesting

>>96260727Feels like a much worse effect than grafdiggers cage/exiling graveyards and much more fragile to boot.
>>96260727Wait until you see this.
Post cards you think are underrated
>2 mana to give a creature haste and trample the turn you cast it
>1 mana give a creature haste and trample every turn after you initially cast it
>>962608341 mana to make a 99 card commander deck

>>96260849Alcohol is NOT the answer anon. Either drinking, or gambling by playing MtG. Pick your vice.
Been outta the loop for a hot minute. I heard the normie cattle DID NOT like Aetherdrift. Is this true? What went wrong?
>>96260849I hope you guys bought the Radiant Lotus dip, because it goes crazy with Weapons Manufacturing
>>96260852Knobbin it up brother
Anyway I'm excited to play it in my Shattergang deck, seems fun
>>96260864Clusterfuck of a set with difficult to track mechanics that did a really fucking bad job at selling its aesthetic.
>>96260864They hate it which makes the Piss Lands cheap
>>96260851This is true
Though due to how useful and competitively costed the card's effect is, I almost never would pitch it. Someone would have to have telegraphed a win and I would need to be desperate to dig for an answer. Still, its nice that it also can be pitched for a desperation dig.
>>96260866What a horrid set symbol. Almost wouldn't want to run this card solely because of this.
>>96260834Used to be a Commander staple, but it seems time forgot about it. It is unbelievably good removal, especially for monowhite where I would say this is better than Generous Gift which is inexplicably the 3rd most popular white card on EDHREC.
>>96260866>unpumpable bags
>>96260874>play a whole game where you shit out those munitions>don't include any artifact sac outlets>opponents ignore your stockpile>play RaLo>"why yes, my 10 munitions will sac for 30 total mana and do 20 damage to face"All the better if you have Fiery Emancipation on board.
>>96260900Yeah it barely deserves the name of lotus, but I got mine as soon as I saw how artifact heavy EoE was.
Cost me just two dollars fifty. Well worth it. It is going to tick up to about 5 dollars within a year or two, bet on it.
>>96260908I don't play UB slop
Also you can't imagine the raw sexual thrill of creating 40 mana and then just putting 1 card in the middle of your opponents deck. There's just not coming back from that disrespect.
>looking at new birbs for my Kastral deck
>see this
>has bird
>synergistic with my commander
>art sucks the salt off my fucking nads
Why do they do this to me? I can't stomach running this slop
>>96260934That is a counterspell and not removal, anon
>>96260943>counterspell>not removal
>>96260947Removal is a word used to describe cards that remove things from the battlefield and not the stack. I know the subtleties of these terms might be confusing for new players.
>>96260934God I love white counterspells so much
>A few friends hate blue with a passion>In any game they donโt see blue in they go full retard and be greedy as shit >Run all the white counterspells in any deck I can put them in>The salt they cause when used against said anti-blue friends
>make infinite mana
>blue sun zenith the most annoying person at the table for 80 billion
It never gets old.
>Galaxy Foil bundles came in today
>get a second World Shaper deck instead of Counter Intelligence
ONE JOB
>want to build him
>still $70+ plus tip
He's never coming down
>inb4 the other cheaper art
I shan't be buying any Sephiroth not drawn by Nomura. Simple as.
I actually hate everyone. Everybody said don't worry about buying the FF Precons right away because there'll be plenty stock with how popular they are. My local Best Buy hasn't had any in stock since launch. But I waited thinking they'd print more.
>>96260967>He's never coming downNo shit, he's never getting reprinted. No UB sets are. That's why they supposedly sell so well, investors know the line can only go up.
>>96260973Two weeks ago I was able to get an FF precon bundle at costco for less than the decks go for MSRP. Last weekend both game stores I went to, ones in an area with a large population with many players, had them in stock for MSRP or less.
>>96260966Actually comical how often I'm seeing this pop up. Some big fuckup must've happened somewhere
>>96260967I'm not judging you.
I'm the straightest man in the world, so straight that even my pubes aren't curly, and even I have to agree that thirst-trapiroth is the obvious right pick.
>>96260967He's never coming down and will only go higher. If you desperately want to build him, now is the time to buy Anon. UB is the new RL.
>anons actually thinking there won't be reprints of the ff set
>>96261027They'd be printing it right meow if they could, considering every product in the line sold out immediately.
>>96260973>Friends and I preorder the 4 precons >AUD$138 each (shotgunned the FF7 one even though it is arguably the worst deck of the bunch)>After we do our precon day, one friend who loves Naya bought the FF7 one for just over $600As pissed as we were with the prices at the time Iโm really glad we got in early and I got in early for the Collector and normal Bundles. Though one of my sample precon cards was the full-art Celes and now Iโm tempted to make a Mardu Mill deck.
>>96261027I expect a december rerun like LOTR got, anything beyond that is unlikely to happen.
>>96261037Didnโt WotC say more reprints were coming later this year? They did reprints of the LotR stuff so Iโd be very surprised if FF doesnโt get any.
I just took my only infinite combo out of my favorite deck and replaced it with flavorful cards
for the love of god, reprints the 40k stuff
UB is just reserved list 2.0
It's why I bought a copy of every playable unique card.
>>96261065I'd like making a Sister of Battle deck honestly
>>96261027I don't think you understand how IP licensing works.
Name a single UB set that has seen a reprint. They've been doing them for almost 5 years now. Where's the reprints?
>>96261044You're not referring to reprints, you're talking about them just printing more of the set.
A reprint is when a set effectively gets re-released. Innistrad Remastered for example.
>>96261089My bad. First one is what I was referring to. Also with the second it is so easy to imagine WotC is just going to do this for all the popular planes now instead of ever revisiting them.
>>96261104Yeah, decent. I only run it in enchantress decks though. I guess if you're in monogreen your options are limited.
You guys last thread misled me on visiting that other LGS. It was bracket 4 goodstuff slop with brain-damaged people feeding the rhystic study player until he stormed off. The rest of the table spent more time on their phones than playing Magic.
Didn't see a single piece of removal pointed his way all game except my own.
>>96260864unfocused as FUCK, I think they might've been able to pull off a combination of two planes but three was way too much, it's supposed to represent amonkhet, muraganda and kaladesh at the same time but it just feels like a generic vehicle set with random discard cards
>>96261130People that don't play removal are so fucking boring. They're just playing solitaire.
>>96261037>every product in the line sold out immediately.I will, again, direct people to the fact that WPN stores themselves said they were allocated less FF stock than they were of normal sets. Meanwhile WotC was calling it the best selling set of all time just based on pre-orders. And now it's kicking around Costco at reduced prices.
It was FOMO marketing. They just didn't print as much of it, made unverifiable claims about how well it was selling, and anyone who falls for this is a mark.
Thoughts on my squirrels?
>>96261140Thanks for letting me know. We appreciate you.
>>96261138Honestly I don't mind if the power level is shit enough that things aren't must-answer. But this was just slop top to bottom. Multiple One Rings resolving. Tutors for combos. Stella Lee one-card wins.
We played two more games after and they weren't as high-powered but they were quite similar. Foiled out generic goodstuff.
I asked if this was the average power level of a pod at the store, and was told pretty much. So I'm going to stick to my main LGS.
>>96261156Shit like this is why I enjoy commanders that explicitly demand you play removal, whether I play as or against them.
I run a pretty unoptimized/middling power level Imodane deck where the game plan is just play commander => start bolting shit.

>>96262517Even assuming there's ZERO legal complications, they still wouldn't do it.

>>96263935I would argue speed plays a part too. Magic (outside combo slop) tends to be a methodical game. There's a lot of back and forth and in proportion to other games, fewer game actions being taken per turn. Meaning they're more impactful.
A game like Yu-Gi-Oh is over turn 2. Pokemon you're tearing through your entire deck from the start. Lorcana is Magic without instant-speed interaction.

>>96263954Run removal timmy
>>96263957on that note, there's also very little to no interaction in other games. people say blue is the only interactive color but every color's got instant speed removal of some sort, just stuff they can put their thumb in your eye with, in the right context. every other game feels like two players playing solitaire to see which deck pops off first, like if timmy play was enforced by the rules of the game.
>>96263971No I don't think I will
>>96263945the deadly rollick guy is to blame
>>96263013Interaction at instant speed on your opponent's turn
Most other games don't bother to do this and for a very good reason
>>96263983More like a very bad reason: "we dont want players to get mad playing our game"
>>96263975>people say blue is the only interactive coloronly because wotc lets it stay that way
to this day we have few silence effects compared to counterspells and we STILL don't have a thoughtseize variant that makes all of your opponents reveal their hands instead of just one
>>96263994Other colors instant speed interaction is mostly combat tricks (pumping the team for red/green, defensive keywords for white, offensive for black). Black gets hand disruption too.
>>96263978He also had a toxic deluge in hand but didn't use it for some reason

But I'm curious why you think that's a bad reason. If you were creating a game, would you want people to get mad playing your game?
>>96263013That this format is four players.
>>96263975Yu-Gi-Oh has a lot of interaction. Every deck runs three to upwards of ten always-online 0-mana counterspells. Its problems lie elsewhere.
Flesh and Blood I've heard is interactive, but it's garnered 0 interest in me.
>>96263945>No, I WANT my opponents to be able to stop me whenever I'm about to win!>Opponents proceed to bring more removal and stop you from winning>No, now my playgroup is a bunch of tryhard maggots! Why are you complaining about winning? Do you WANT your opponents to remove your shit every time you get ahead? Because That's the opposite side of the coin anon and is sucks FAR more.
>>96264031Flesh and blood seems better than magic
But realistically every game is better than magic
>>96263945Yeah this is a really weird post
>>96264031>3-10Most decks now a days try to run about 18 hand traps with the rest of the deck being 1 card combos with the side deck being board breakers or hard counters
Yugiohs problem is the constant tier 0 formats with 150$ staples that require 3 ofs and at this point rogue decks are just previous meta decks that got hit
>>96264038he's complaining because pubstomping clueless opponents gets boring after a while
>No, now my playgroup is a bunch of tryhard maggots!don't worry the kuja guy is a tryhard himself, he's running jeska's will lmao
Commander is better than any other card game because it achieves what every other card game cannot. You do not need to be a metaslave. You can BREW.
The various levels of play open up avenues for deck building, thee most important aspect of player expression. So long as you aren't a bracket 4 retard or mentally ill enough for CEDH, there are thousands of permutations of viable decks.
>>96264077yes you can brew in edh but that's only because it's a free for all, 1v1 punishes you a lot more for running pet cards and bad builds
>>96264067My usual play group plays strong stuff but when I sat down in a random pod and saw ur dragon I wanted to see how kuja would go, and I didn't think I'd just have a free game against 2 decks in blue
I like working through removal or setting up combos to push for a win when the time is right, not just an afk win
>>96264077>You can brew!Until bracket 4
>>96264102Well, yes and no. The social aspect also comes into play. In 60-card you're incentivized to build thee best possible deck at all times because the end all be all is winning a match. Your opponent can't reasonably begrudge you for sweating for bringing the best legacy deck to a legacy tournament, even if the play patterns are miserable.
It's one of the reasons so many card games get bad. In my experience 1v1 card games are at their peak around tier 2-3. It's when you get the tier 1/0 formats that things get miserable. Because most players are meta slaves as a psychological default; they'll always gravitate toward the best stuff, even when it ruins the experience.
>>96264116That's why I said so long as you aren't a bracket 4 retard. Even then, bracket 4 would be fine if WotC didn't delineate it as the designated sweat bracket where you're trying to win on turn 3.
>>96264127Every card game in my area is hyper competitive, whether its magic, one piece, yugioh, flesh and blood, pokemon etc
Nearly everyone that shows up for locals are the players that go to every regional and usually make top cut, I don't know what casual locals is like
>>96264038you did not pass grade 9 english class
it's that randos are so clueless and have no assessment, to the point that telling them about an upcoming win won't make them budge. one even had answers in hand but decided to hold them because????
>>96264127>In 60-card you're incentivized to build the best possible deck at all times because the end all be all is winning a match.incorrect, as 60 cards was rife with against the odds jank well before edh came into vogue, there was, in fact, a casual scene in 60 cards back in the day
it just so happens that people realized you can get away with being a lot more casual in a free for all multiplayer setting, that's why edh is now the most popular format
>>96264077I love running silly objectively impractical and bad cards just for the off chance I get to do the very funny thing.
>>96264157You're mostly correct. But the casual 60-card kitchen table scene is much akin to what commander is now, albeit on a less supported level.
Also no one is rushing out to build Saffron's decks. He builds them for content creation, and unless I'm mistaken are for bo1 arena games.
>>96264116then don't play b4, even wotc knows the vast majority fall under b2/b3
Most of my old decks would be classified as b4 by virtue of game changers but they'd get smoked by WotC's definition of what a bracket four is. Game changers are such a dogshit concept.
Did we really need another panharmonicon and another parallel lives?
Im trying to play singleton over here!
Do you think Magic has a large skill ceiling?
>>96264238>but they'd get smoked by WotC's definition of what a bracket four is.no they don't, because you love your commander so much that you'll never replace it with a superior card; your commander is your waifu

>>96264249I would say it is large, definitely relative to other tcgs.
To other games? Nah.
>>96264255Huh? I'm saying the decks I've built pre-brackets run game changers that'd mark them as bracket 4, but they are far too weak to stand up against bracket 4 decks.
>>96264249Doomsday lines
Yes, definitely
Everything else
Probably, I lost a game last week off of a slightly suboptimal birthing pod play. It's certainly no candy crush here.
>>96264280>they are far too weak to stand up against bracket 4 decksonly because you have a weak commander, just upgrade bro
except you won't because you're attached to your commander and that's why your decks are b4, because that bracket is waifu central
just like b1 is just chaos and mill, b4 is just powercrept commanders and that guy who REALLY loves tifa
>>96264302No, I'm playing deliberately weak strategies that I shored up with game changers so they wouldn't get rolled over. I'm not super-attached to my commanders, since I gut them for new decks every month or so.
>>96264302>Changed my omnath deck into tifa>It became even more kill on sight then himI honestly didn't think about how stupid the deck can get and how fast it is
