Do you use any kind of "fame" or "notoriety" mechanic in your supers games? Like tracking the public's opinion of PCs and having characters become more famous as they fight crime, rescue civilians, foil supervillains etc.

If I'm a relatively new GM looking for a medium crunch option for a supers one shot around the tone/grit level of Invincible or Worm, what are my options? So far I'm looking at either Sentinetls or P&P but Ive heard SCRPG doesn't play well with that kind of tone. Thoughts? How do both deal with disparate inner-team power levels?
Anonymous No.96286222
P&P does all power levels, any setting
Anonymous No.96286235 >>96286408
>>96286194
also there's no such thing as disparate power levels, all heroes have the same trait cap and hero point total
Anonymous No.96286408 >>96286522
>>96286235
Okay, so I'd have to pick a power level, and all players would make characters with that total, got it. Does that allow things like 'ultra secret agent' and 'hulk expy' to exist on the same team then, USA just puts more points into 'mundane' traits?

What are some supers in your setting, hero or villain, with powers that are a lot more impressive than they first appear, and where do you look for ideas besides Worm? I basically copied Taylor, since my group isn’t familiar with Worm, but I need advice for next time so I don’t just repeat it or take my ideas solely from Worm.

Are you attractive and single? Is she single? If yes to these things, say
>Hey, noticed you're doing something different with your hair, looks good.
>Oh thanks anon, I just decided to let it go

However, if you're an ugly and/or socially awkward guy, keep your fucking mouth closed.

I’m looking to create my first supers setting, what do I have to keep in mind, both for the world in general and the specific supers/their powers? And besides DC and Marvel, and Worm of course, what are some good places to look when you need some inspiration for heroes and villains that aren’t just Superman and the like with just enough cosmetic differences to not be a perfect copy?
Anonymous No.96305385 >>96323176
Stop presenting worm as if it's a relevant property that anyone knows or cares about. Buy an ad.

What gadget/tech heroes and villains exist in your world? And how does their existence affect the world, can others replicate their technology or not, and if they can, how does the general tech level compare to real life? What advice do you have for this?

super powers are broad enough that nearly any fictional medium is useful for making them. even playing around in random generators or a tvtropes rabbit hole can get you something useful

Ironically, gagdeteering/tech heroes are usually the ones that can make the biggest waves in my setting. Power armors are common enough that they can be deployed by the police force during high alert situations (Kaiju attacks, natural disasters, handling low range supervillains when no heroes are available.)

You can even find power suits in construction work and those kind of jobs if the companies are big enough. Gadgets are also the case, though those don't go too far into weird superscience stuff, just more efficient and optimized current tech.

All of this technology is, of course, a pale shadow of what the actual heroes and villains have at their disposal. Mostly because you wouldn't really want to give that power freely to anyone, though another part is also not wanting to give away their tricks.

I've been really looking forward to trying out Marvel Superheroes/FASERIP since I heard a lot of good things about it. Is there a quick start guide for it somewhere? Some friends and I are looking to use it for some dumb, fun OC hero stuff. I've skimmed the classicmarvel site, and I couldn't find a quick, condensed breakdown of everything.

How do your heroes make money, do they have a normal job or somehow get paid for heroism? And how do they keep their secret identities in a modern setting, especially if they do the former?

What are some terms you would use or have seen used for humans with superpowers in general? There’s mutants, mutates, and Inhumans from Marvel, DC uses the classic β€œmetahuman”, and Aberrant uses the titular term and β€œnovas” for its supers, depending on who you ask and when, etc., are there any other decent terms you can share here please?

I went and ripped off the villain of this one comic who's name escapes me where his tech basically ran off cartoon logic and was completely incomprehensible to anyone but himself. It also stopped functioning if it got to far away from him iirc.
I forget the name, it war one of those edgy hero turns killer things and the hero was rip-off green lantern.

"Supers" is a subset of people with superpowers, whether hero, villain, or neither. So it's more of an ersatz "race" than some moral qualifier.
After all, a superpowered civilian still has superpowers, as well as a potential to join either of the aforementioned groups.

I'm planning to have a villain create an army of brainwashed heroes, what kinds of power(s) should they seek out in their new minions first, assuming that the local Superman equivalent or some similarly powerful hero is the endgame plan? And have you ever done a mind control plot of your own, and how did things turn out if yes?

the totally not superman of my game

>gemini: the most loved and adored superhero of the world and the very first superpowered individual
>sent to space on the gemini program, he was dosed by interstellar rays that altered his body structure
>initially believed to have been granted superhuman strength, later tests revealed that he was instead altering the fundamental attributes in an area localized on him and anything he touched
>he was not actually strong enough to lift huge masses, but objects had less inertia when he touched them
>he was not actually super durable, bullets simply had less kinetic energy when they struck him
>his ability to reduce or increase aspects of classical physics is both poorly understood and yet required re-writing of textbooks all over the world
>he wears a modified version of his gemini space suit, as his shifting of the laws of physics are not always voluntary, and by being on his body when it was bathed in super rays at the time of the event, it is one of the few objects that can limit his power and protect people who are shaking his hands from suddenly developing zero mass and collapsing
