Fantasy weapons thread
I have not seen a fantasy weapons thread in a while.

Pics of weapons made by IRL madmaen are preferred

I read the manga this year for the first time. Damn it was cool.

There is a lack of distinctive pistols and knives in anime/manga/movies

Why is this the one that makes me feel so uncomfortable in a thread with >>96275430?

It must be because it's approaching spider-number of limbs.

That looks like your hand would slip the first time you accidentally hit something hard, and the chain would rip your palm open. Especially if your hands are covered in blood.

get a time machine, go back to when the guys making these were common amongst their people rather than a Historical Heritage Craft.

Luv me club.
Simple as.

It's not particularly fantasy in aesthetics, but only a fantasy character can make this work as an actual weapon. I cannot stress enough how bad it is as a weapon. The time required to swing it is too great, even with practise and strength. A lighter but denser metal head on a mace will do better, a lighter club is fine as a weapon, a longer stick where the end is knobbly is great, but a wide chunk of wood the size of a leg of lamb is just too unwieldy.
By the time you connect with where the other guy was, he's backed off, and while you're recovering it to a good position for a second swing he's hitting you wheverever he goddamn pleases.
It'd be great against a shield wall where all the poor sod can do is block and then he HAS to deal with the impact, but in a skirmish or a solo fight this is useless.
And by the point in any setting where shield walls are being developed and used, there are better means for dealing with an opposing shield wall than "send in grug with a club"

Of course fantasy is fantasy and if your barbarian has the strength I can only dream of, then yes he can swing something like that without trouble and knock a guy into next week.

I think last item I saw without a trigger guard was a revolver from 1800.

Scissors are underrated as a fantasy weapon.

Any one have any idea how to add a couple to a fantasy or a sci fi setting?

Warhammer was able to add chainsword to a setting, we surely can do better with scissors.

...Such mechanical linkages would also help explain chainsaw-swords being a thing to begin with, though the issue with 40k's realistically getting stuck after rather shallow damage is considerably exacerbated with one's entire fist. I suggest drills to resolve this.

Hey, she at least got it to avoid killing the user like a lunge mine... Right?

>>96277892
It's also useful if you have carvings of mystical significance, culminating in the Tauren of Warcraft 3 bashing people with entire totems.

>>96278169
I vaguely recall turning a trigger on such a hinge the opposite direction being used as a safety in some early firearms, so simply gripping it doesn't have the trigger in a position to hit whatever mechanism fires.

Using the length of the blade as the bow instead of as the stock would probably do better, if only for being somewhat plausible to keep a full-length blade. Could maybe borrow from the Yumi-Yari where more of a spear-point projects, then the metal band acts as both a composite layer and something to block blows with.
