I don't know if I can properly explain it, butI noticed two painting trends by GW. Back in the early-to-mid 90s, red was prominently used as a spot colour. It seemed like wood was rarely painted brown. Everything had to have some red in it. Now, GW love using teal or some cold blue-green colour. Why?

>the two ages of GW
>skips an entire 15 years (arguably GW's most important ones)

Have you got learning difficulties? It just says 'two ages' not 'the two ages'.

A lot of the "Red" here is actually "Burnt Sienna" which is more or less, right in the middle of Red and Brown. A lot of artists used it over a darker brown back in the day on miniatures and canvas painting. It's a little more visually interesting because it's brighter and more saturated than a darker, Burnt Umber. The blue backgrounds and Magazine Printing in CMYK then being scanned into the computer and shown in RGB is making them look a bit more red than they actually are.

Art 101. Most bases used to be a painted/flocked a basic green. Red is the oposing colour to green on the colour wheel, so painting lots of red on a figure stood on green makes the figure stand out more. I'm not sure why they changed now though, is it to make the figure stand out when stood on the usual pile of stupid tactical brown rocks?

many heavy metal painters for over a decade have professed their love for turquoise, it's just a nice colour.

Art 101, summer edition. Most bases are brown/black now in official paintjobs, so the pop color is blue/teal.
