making the 'you lose' part tied only to the additional costs that don't do anything seems kinda like a cop-out.
goad isn't a keyword like flying, when you goad creatures they don't "gain goad." you'd have to say something like "are no longer goaded"
also shove suspected on there somehow
it not about how old the cards is. it's about what WotC wants their artists to draw. pic related is a prime example of a good artists that gets forced more and more to produce corporate slop.

>>96282327 (OP)>Any card in Spider-Man set that you're looking forward to?Not really.
I hate UB but like some of the spiderverse characters, so WotC really had a chance with me, especially since they've finally killed those fuck-ugly UB borders.
But my favorite characters are Gwen Stacey and Carnage
They made 2 fucking monored Gwens which is just fucking terrible. She's not remotely monored, she's actually one of the most level-headed characters in the spiderverse. And to boot, they called one of her cards "Spider Gwen" when that obviously isn't her fucking name in universe, it's the name of the comic and the fan name for her character. In universe she's just Spider Woman or Ghost Spider. There is a Ghost Spider card too, which just makes it confusing. I have no idea why they went with different names for different cards.
Her jeskai card is fine. I think azorius would still be better colors for her, but fine she can be jeskai. Effect is underwhelming.
And then they made a Gwenom card. Again, not the character's fucking name. Only the fans called her Gwenom, it makes no fucking sense for the card to be called that. And the effect is crazy busted, play cards off top deck by paying life. So that'll probably be at least a $20 card if not more.
Carnage's effect is just fucking terrible. He's legendary, but they put "mayhem" on him, which is the set's version of madness, so that whole aspect of his card text is useless to you if you want him as your commander, unless you want to do some convoluted chain to put him into your hand just to discard him. And his main card text is only on ETB and not on attack, so basically he wants to be blinked, in fucking rakdos of all colors. There's not really anything to do with him other than let him die and reanimate him, and there are so many better targets to reanimate there's really no point.

Saffi's trigger goes off, returning the creature to the battlefield. The creature's ETB goes off, you target Saffi in your GY. Return Saffi to the battlefield. Goto step 1.

Also if the creature has a tap ability you never have to swing it in. You sound bad.

>>96282795>He is pretty much the grandfather of depictions of cults summoning dark beings in all major modern pop-cultures. the question was why Lovecraft is popular, you got your answer.
>>96282795>His influence and reach is insane. He is pretty much the grandfather of...Anon, you're not responding to what was said.
That anon clearly made a distinction between being INFLUENTIAL and being POPULAR
You can be influential in that lots of things now rip you off, but how popular is your work now?
Classic example, Superman. Wildly INFLUENTIAL on superheroes, on hero origin stories, inspired direct rip offs like Dragonball Z. But how POPULAR is Superman today? What are the sales of Superman comics like? How high does Superman rank on lists of favorite heroes? I wouldn't be surprised if he was no longer even top 5.
If you want a weebier example, Fist of the North Star was insanely influential on battle manga, but it was totally eclipsed by derivatives like JoJo's and dozens of other battle manga and anime since then. They all owe so much to Fist of the North Star and some of them even have direct references to it, but it's influenced has far outstripped its popularity.

>>96282815Does your skull have a dent in it? Like Goku himself, were you dropped on your head as an infant?
DRAGONBALL is Journey to the West, yes.
DRAGONBALL *Z* is Superman.
It literally retcons Goku to be one of the last surviving members of his superpowered race that was sent to Earth alone in a pod before his planet exploded. Are you fucking dumb?
>>96282816Okay really not relevant to the question of whether Lovecraft is still popular today regardless of how influential he admittedly was.
>>96282806>not popular in the general sense, but influentiallovecraft is no football star, but he is extremely well known in various niches. hell, I only know about him and started to read his stories because everyone keeps talking about him all the time on various boards. that guy is a star around here and even has his own memes.

>>96282829Again I don't think you're grasping the fucking distinction here.

There is a massive mistake in this video, where he says the constituent parts of the UK are sovereign countries, they're not at all. Sovereignty exists in states, the only state is the UK. Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland do not have sovereignty and cannot strictly write their own laws. They're devolved powers that are granted the right to write a limited scope of their own laws by Westminster the seat of the UK Parliament.

I really like the premise of a singleton format like edh, but holy fuck! the thought of having to shuffle 100 sleeved cards just puts me off. Also, keeping track of commander damage alongside regular damage just seems like a pain, especially when you're already going to be trying to keep track of a pretty complex board state with 4 players. Surely there must be a better way to have a kitchen sink/casual/budget friendly-ish social mtg format that doesn't involve and unwieldy 100 card deck?
>>96282968So you believe everyone who says that he's not that anon, but you don't believe somebody when they say that they're not crashing out. Again, proving that it's generally worthless to type "nta", but it's especially useless when somebody's replying to your posts and adds nta because you can just decide that it's still the same person

The Ramayana talks about flying machines and bombs that are so powerful they can decimate a city, and that epic was written before Christ! The Tempest is functionally a mad scientist story for all its invocations of sorcery. Gulliver's Travels, Frankenstein, Vril, and lest we forget: the aforementioned Jules Verne. >>96285656We're already getting "leaves the battlefield" triggers and there's precedent for dodging exile removal now. At that point we'll start seeing "exile face-down" on some dogshit 3-mana sorcery and you'll still have to run it.
>>96285642>nooooo you have to let me kill you it's not fair to have removal
>>96285673>6 mana with the potential to delete everything but lands is the same thing as extending too much and getting hit with a creature wipe
>>96285661Necron is probably the best deck out of the box. If course, it benefits from mono-B and artifact goodstuff upgrades.
Tyranids are really good for classic Gruul stompy with a bit of tweaking.
Abby needs a deck built around helping him Cascade. Be'lacuck also makes a good demon tribal commander.
Imperium deck either goes Aristocrats or Clue Tokens with Greyfax or just tokens for days with Fisty Smurf Calgar.
>>96285656They won't do "unexilable" instead like other anon said cards now trigger on death or exile. Which by proxy makes all other exile even worse.
>>96285642There was a boardwipe?
>>96285722>My commander doesn't do anything but not "die"I mean, not really worth it.

>>96285642I think either exile needs toned down just a bit on how often it shows up in new cards, or more cards need created that let you phase specific equipped/target creatures for colors other than white. Heroic intervention, one of my favorite instants, is getting worse with every exile card created and the thought of how Avacyn, once one of my favorite late game cards, is pretty much worthless now that there's so many ways indestructible can be ignored feels bad, man
>>96285804The reason exile is showing up so often is because of how much shit has death triggers and recursion. Not to mention cards that randomly have indestructible printed on them for no reason.

>>96286269You don't seem to get what I mean. Because it's Modal it's not a symmetrical board wipe because you can always tweak it to have it effect you with far less worries. Maybe you're equipment and artifact heavy so you keep them around. Maybe you're creature heavy and there's just some pesky enchantments that are stopping you from swinging. Maybe you hate graveyard play. The options on it are pretty crazy compared to, again, an actual symmetrical card and I'd almost be willing to argue it's the one of the best Modal cards ever printed

>>96286402I'll give you that; on some boards it is effectively asymmetrical, but it's entirely matchup dependent.
I will point out that decks that benefit the most from that function are decks that also are deeply centralized into a card type. Voltron will skip Artifacts or Enchantments or both (if they can recast their commander effectively). Graveyard will obviously not garbage their tools. Beyond that though wide decks are vulnerable to wipes in general and tokens are gone forever no matter how you trash them. The more balanced your typing and gameplan is, the more self-harm a player gets out of Farewelling unless they explicitly are cheating it, which basically comes down to bouncing or phasing, which is exactly the same kind of limp play that let me Farewell everything to begin with. You're looking at an 8 mana play to tap out and pass.
I feel the point is that the decks and players that are most irritated by farewell are exactly the kind of decks Farewell needs to be played for. If your deck literally only has one line with no counters and no backups you might as well fuck off to a non-singleton format.

Odds are they made the deal back when the series was in it's prime and by the time the cards came out it had long passed. If they really want to strike while the iron is hot they need to plan these years in advance with coming new releases and take the chance on what will be a hit or not. As it turns out, I actually liked Warp a lot as a mechanic, but it was still a worthwhile jumping off point to talk about how WotC just keeps shitting out new mechanics that are not likely to ever be revisited.
Like when are we next going to see Rooms? How about Start Your Engines, or Omens? Not for years, possibly never. The last mechanic I can think of actually being revisited fairly soon after was Adventures.
I was saying I'd much rather see existing keywords get new support than just see a tiny variation on an existing keyword which doesn't synergize with similar keywords and just adds to confusion with microscopic differences in rules interactions. Like did we really need:

>>96287906I personally fucking hate battles and don't think it deserved a new type of permanent. They could just as easily have been a type of enchantment like rooms and backgrounds and fucking sagas. In fact why aren't they sagas?
But anyway, as much as I don't think they should exist I will agree that now that they do exist, only having them for 1 set is stupid.
I think most enchantments shouldn't be enchantments
>>96287926Its worth noting we've only seen 1 type of battle so far, siege. I could see an inverse type where it gives you some sort of benefit but other players need to try and kill it. >>96287987I still don't even know how 'enchantment creatures' work lore wise. Like if its a god or something I get it, but just random dudes being enchantments really makes no sense.
