>>96286105You're a colossal retard who doesn't want to look at facts. I'll explain why in a second.
>>96286112You need to shut the fuck about Quests already. /qst/ was made in 2016, and though the board saw a dip in population, that was primarily because that was the election year when /pol/ more than tripled in size and began raiding all the other boards. After the election, /tg/ largely recovered, as the graph shows.
>>96286105Back to you. Ordinary generals are not a problem; But Zombie generals are. Zombie generals are generals that are made for topics not popular enough to warrant their existence and end up just being a private chatroom on this board for a handful of people, who bump them to the detriment of this board.
Looking at the past, generals primarily existed as a way to consolidate what would otherwise be several threads about a popular topic. But, a culture shift occurred where people decided they wanted to "fake it until they make it", ie. make a general and keep it bumped under the idea that it would eventually become popular enough to warrant it's existence.
In the past, these fake generals would not last long, because the board was faster, thanks to people being more free and happy to make quick, loose, and light-hearted threads. Now, we instead have a flood of generals, with the majority of them simply having copy-pasted OPs and existing in various states of zombification, and only a smattering of largely troll threads in between, and all because it takes now over a day for an unbumped thread to die, rather than a few hours. The board is slow, and as it gets slower, it gets further clogged up, leading to more people leaving and the board slowing down even further. We are in a death spiral.
How do we fix this? Dramatic culture overhaul, starting with less tolerance for Zombie generals and other pet threads, and a greater emphasis on more casual, conversational threads that actually fit the 4chan format.
