>Thread Question:Expectations for the Saturnine Command Squad?
Rolled 6, 3 = 9 (2d6)
No posting allowed until you make your cool check.
>>96286250you have failed. Your idea is gay and so are you.
>>96286216 (OP)Saturnine command squad terminators actually won't be allowed to have saturnine war axes despite it having been repeatedly shown in promotion material.
Rolled 4, 5 = 9 (2d6)
>>96286250Bet I'm more cool than you
Rolled 6, 1 = 7 (2d6)
>>96286250>>96286261Buy some chaplains, nerds
Rolled 6, 6 = 12 (2d6)
>>96286250Witness my coolness
Rolled 2, 5 = 7 (2d6)
>>96286261>>96286250I pity you two uncool people.
>>96286294Well shit, guess I'm waiting for next thread
Trying to make a cool conversion is now trolling. Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.
>>96286216 (OP)So what is the lore reason for these round shoulder boys to not be in 40k?
did they all extinct?
>>96286307They are in 40k :^)
So is this is? The hype train has left the station and we are left behind to wither and die?
>>96286307>So what is the lore reason for these round shoulder boys to not be in 40k?They were just invented for 30k, so give it some time.
>>96286216 (OP)>me looking all over the OP image >just a normal pic
>>96286318I have a game tomorrow. Not everyone is obsessing on tg.
Is it pretty easy to list build while avoiding resin kits? It seems Iโd be missing out on a lot of bespoke Legion kits, but Iโve got plenty of transfers at the very least.
>>96286347you can avoid resin, but unless you want to do conversions then the game is extremely BORING
>>96286347Why? Resin has the most soul bits.
>>96286351If you want to avoid doing conversions then you belong in 40k not here.
>>96286333sorry for your loss
Prototype saturnine chosen. No damn idea where to put the particle shredder, can't fit it under the arm.
>>96286311Tau be like:
>By the Greater Good! Let's try to negotiate with this bloke
When do the new breachers come out? I need to make them into Medusan Immortals.
Been offered a BNIB Spartan for ยฃ55
Worth it? I have 3 kids and live near a council estate
How fast is a Saturnine Terminator? Why are they armed with melee weapons if you could just slowly walk backwards and stay out of weapons range?
>>96286347Very easy, and becoming more easy over time as GW continues updating models in plastic. With a little converting and kitbashing there's even more possible.
>>96286318the hype train never left the station in the first place. The 90% with working brains knew the game was dead 3-4 weeks before it even released thanks to leakeranon. We were sitting at home sipping mai tais, laughing at the train wreck while a few retarded people were on the train going "I'm sure the rumors have to be wrong, I'm sure the rulebook leaks which are bad are just missing the full details and it can't really be this bad, I'm sure they saved the great stuff for the libers which will redeem this edition, I'm sure the libers are crap but the legacy will redeem everything, I'm sure the game sucks now but surely journals cost $25 each for a few pages they'll have to have great stuff in them that fixes my legion"
The upside is HH3 is so terrible that it won't snuff out the HH1 or HH2 communities which can now play without needing to buy $400 more of outdated paper rulebooks with trash in them. You're free from the GW churn, just reject HH3 and HH4.
>>96286404I like 3.0 though.
>>96286305But what is it? What does the model represent?
>>96286381M5
>>96286448It's a terminator with a plasma cannon
>>96286448So they're slow as shit. You could honestly just outpace them and shoot them without fear of their melee weapons irl
>>96286361between the shoulders like the old art. Remember praetors can't take shredders though, only blater
>>96285819Thanks anon. I don't know where you guys are placing your Moritats now that they aren't Bitter Duty? And where did you put them in 2.0?
>>96286558>I'm trying to approach the traitor's position unnoticed, but the clap of my ass cheeks keeps alerting them to my presence
>>96286558>where did you put them in 2.0Storage
>>96286361>>96286546I think it's best to wait for the next Sloptica to leak, I have a suspicion that the centurion won't get the axe or hammer and command squads can't take the big guns.
>>96286404>The upside is HH3 is so terrible that it won't snuff out the HH1 or HH2 communities which can now play without needing to buy $400 more of outdated paper rulebooks with trash in themThis. Lost and won both. Defeat has redeemed us.
>>96286539That's why transport vehicles exist. Otherwise no one ever would have been using cataphractii either.
>>96286546>praetors can't take shredders though, only blaterI thought I was imagining things. This is the gaslight edition.
Also, isn't Saturnine's conditional Fire Protocols 2 a tad schizo? If you have 2 barrage plasma cannons, will you really move?
>>96286618Just fix deepstrikes and let terminators get it omg
>>96286546Not feeling it, to be honest. Looks strange.
It's not a praetor though. Just a command squad guy.
>>96286629It's so that you can't walk and shoot. For some reason.
>>96286640Blaster looks better. That said, do we even know what the command squad rules are? Might be an illegal loadout
>>96286629>schizoYes. Should always allow both as snap shots on the move.
>>96286636>fix deepstrikes1e+charges, done.
>let terminators get it omgNo. You have a warmonger.
>>96286640Could you post pics from other angles? It kinda looks like he's falling over from this angle
>>96286648>do we even know what the command squad rules are? Might be an illegal loadoutIt's literally the OP pic. 1 Poleaem plus gauntlet gun and a Banner.
>>96286655if that's the case, then it's going to be hilarious when the command squad guys are more effective than the praetor
>>96286649>Go back to 1st edition deep strikes >but not the mass deep strikes that edition allowed, no, we only play hero hammer deep strikes here KYS
>>96286660Praetor doesn't get a shredder because its not in his box, but his WS is better. He's over costed though. Too bad warmonger cant DS saturnines.
>>96286600Going by the OP pic the Command Squad gets the only worthwhile Saturnine gun, the particle shredder.
>>96286676Just give them the prime buff. Besides, three satties fit neatly inside a LR
>>96286640Sculpt and oversized handle and put it on his thigh like a holstered pistol
Or maybe try putting on the back of the gun?
>>96286673>but not the mass deep strikes that edition allowed, no, we only play hero hammer deep strikes hereTermis weren't the only thing deepstriking, Anon. This brings back drop pod assault, termite whatever, and anything with a pack. Terminators not having deepstrike is normal.
>>96286684You mean +1WS and attacks to the champ?
>>96286653Sure, I guess.
>>96286648>Blaster looks better.Debatable. I think it looks worse, since it fits even less between the pauldrons.
>>96286649You go get a Warmonger. Let terminators buy deepstrike for some 50 pts per unit or something.
Warmongers shall then grant their buggy deepstrike to units without natural deepstrike, and idk force charges to always be Ordered
Rolled 6, 4 = 10 (2d6)
>>96286250Thinking about using some grey knights models for conversions.
>>96286784Totally not cool bro
Rolled 4, 1 = 5 (2d6)
>>96286250Hmm, I don't know.
Post models/WIPs
WIP TS jetbike character of some sort. My fingers are caked in glue but greenstuff made it easier.
>>96286842>riding a fast bike>wear a sailNothing could possibly go wrong, because Magnus did never did anything wrong.
>>96286890Imagine if I used a rubric head? At least this is curved ha
>>96286890I had legitimately forgotten how unappealing the old Eldar jetbikes were. Thank you for reminding me.
>>96286931I, for one, miss the space chippers and leather jackets. Now all Eldar bikes are the same with slightly different cowling and wings.
The lack of jumppack on the magos and techpriests really hampers what I can attach them to. It makes list building for the faction a real pain as I have take unit with the sole purpose of being meat shields for my characters I didn't even want to take in the first place.
In the end even after taking 'the heart of power' detachment to have more retinue units I still had three out of my four troop priests walking alone using my vehicles as a LOS shield.
Played a game with my admech today the Lion soloed about a third of my army and my karaknos was largely worthless like last edition.
>>96286964I know this is crazy, but have you considered putting your magi in units of automata? You know, castelax and shit?
>>96286964The fuck kind of mechanicum list are you playing
was the kratos garbage in HH 1-2? (ignoring the whole "dreadnoughts were undercosted" thing - we'll probably house-rule to nerf dreads)
>>96287067Wasnt in HH1, was dogshit in HH2
>>96287067Didn't exist in 1e and all vehicles sucked in 2.0 because lascannons were OP and ubiquitous
>>96287067Kratos was non-existent in HH1
>>96287045Apparently a really bad one
>>96287067It wasn't that terrible. Deffinitely more survivable than most other tanks, but it was stupid expensive for the damage output it had since the flare shield was kinda mandatory

>>96286964Cry me a river. Oh no you can't chuck pretty plainly the most efficient combat character into your comically undercosted jump pack special / heavy weapons dudes. What ever shall you do?
Should Russ have his spear on tabletop as an option?
>Reviewing Solar Aux with my friend who wants to get into 30k
>Seeing how good their vehicles are compared to Marines
It's not fair...
>>96287169Look at their only line units and it makes sense
I got a cheap spartan painted pretty well in Imp Fist colors. I think I may be lazy and just paint black stripes over top for the rt salamanders scheme. Though I guess that would mean I should also paint my termies in that scheme.
>>96287176Their infantry are all very good? Line sections are incredibly cost effective objective grabbers, veletaris punch well above their weight and charonites are terminator butchers
>>96287162No he should knot.
>>96287087>>96287088>>96287090>>96287120thanks, I'll skip grabbing it then, it's kinda a ripoff like 2 points per dollar anyway. I'll wait for a friend to get an abs printer eventually.
Allies seem cool this edition. Whats a better choice, a bunch of cheap CC/line holding aux, or some efrit to mess people up? An AL kill team might be cool to make but might also be a bit cheesy idk.
>>96287183You could just say that the tank was mothballed in that scheme and pressed into service rapidly because of the Big Prank at Isstvan.
>>96287221What are your current armies?
Looking at the Legends PDF and I was looking at Vet Breachers, just what do Lascutters actually look like? I vaguely remember Forge World did some back when they existed. Was that the only time GW did a model of them?
>>96286307are you blind or just stupid
Feels like his head should be set back and in a little bit more
>>96287195Their line units lose to every other line unit in the game, and require a command to get above Line (1)
With how many ways there are to put stasuses out there in 3.0, line sections start being at risk of non-scoring after losing 3 T3 1w guys, and are one of the few units that vanguard (x) can reliably wipe out at ranged for VP.
>>96286353remember benzene? it's BACK!
How important are base sizes in HH? Aside from Praetors, most power armour characters are still just on 32mm bases, right?
>>96287267>Their line units lose to every other line unit in the gameAt 5ppm they fucking should.
>>96287273They're weird; they're 5ppm for the first 10, then 4ppm after.
>>96287273The point is more that vehicles don't interact with objectives at all, which means even with a strong armored core the SA will always have to be covering for their infantry in order to score.
One of the low key useful things about saturnine terms/dreads are their barrage AP4 plasma, simply because they'll melt line sections on objectives (and tech thralls with a tech priest)
>>96287276A significant portion of units in the game have some flat cost to them beyond their ppm, to disincentivize running all msu.
>>96287270And praetors would be too if gw designers weren't retarred
There's not many aura abilities. It makes a bit of a difference when disembarking a transport but not that much
>>96287291That makes sense, I never thought about it that way.
>>96286890I heard Khaine's parents are Slaanesh and Khorne, hence it's got traits common to both. Eldar are grandchildren of the gods, and Slaanesh was born of them, but time is a closed loop in the warp so it's not a problem that he was/will be born out of the people made by his own progeny. The ones' whose future death shall be his own birth, long ago.
It's an atemporal mess like how Samus was born of the death of he who killed him before
>>96287264different technological devolpment, The centurion STC was discovered in m.36 (iirc), saturnine was early great crusade then refined by vulkan as apart of the tactical dreadnought devolpment
>>96287307>The centurion STC was discovered in m.36So was the predator annihilator but here we are
>>96287310really, do you have a quote for that?
I really cannot believe you guys are using Spartans with ten or so elite hammer termies plus character. That's like a thousand points in a single spot. It reads like one of those american tales of texans driving an hour for a hamburger the next town over or something. An exaggeration.
Just what else is the rest of the 3k list if 1000 pts of it is one deathstar? 2 more deathstars? LMAO
>>96287264Bro, I got bad news...
>>96287345>I really cannot believe you guys are using Spartans with ten or so elite hammer termies plus character.Who said I was?
>>96287225Feels like a backwards justification in a bad way. Termies would lend creadence to the idea, and I planned on doing all rt salamanders at the beginning before deciding I didn't want to paint that much yellow. But just termies shouldn't be bad.
>>96287310Hey, that very story ends with the techpriests concluding Predators were probably modular and designed from the very beginning to take those modifications
was the stormbolter developed during the great crusade or was it Unification?
>>96287045About 4 priest 3 magos of different flavors. Most of list was fast moving stuff m>9 kinds things and vehicles.
I don't like putting priests in my thallax or vorax squads because of how much it slows them down
>>96287119Definitely felt bad
>>96287317Not at hand but in past lore annihilators were invented by space wolve well after the scouring
Didn't stop them from making that an option when they made the plastic deimos
how does the lion get more than one combat phase against a karacnos? doesnt he spend half the game pinned vs ld7
>>96287264come to think of it
a saturnine with heavy bolter arms would look cool as fuck
or one with centurion arms with the attached heavy weapons
4 squads of 20 Lasrifle boys and 2 Line section commanders is is 530 points.
Think that's too much for an allied detachment with the job of being some Line fodder?
>>96287345You can fit quite a bit in 2k points. I'm not saying the 1k deathstar is optimal, but it's also not hilariously non-viable unless your oponent is playing some WAAC cheese build (cough cough thousand sons).
>>96287218Its the best its been in 3e. Stable and AV14 front is good.
>>96287351Why do people use that site? its so terrible
Rolled 6, 3 = 9 (2d6)
>>96286796I just thought the legs and weapons would work well with some word bearers torsos :(
>>96287436>AV14 frontAV14 all around desu
The LoW look like they die pretty easily to any deepstriking melta
Is this the best kit for conversions in recent memory? I swear they keep getting better and better
>>96287452Kratos isnt a LoW. Also die to deepstriking what? 10 multimeltas only do 6 damage before smoke.
>>96287467The big marine LoW like the fellblade have AV12 on the back. They can eat 18 wounds from 10 meltaguns on a drop pod or with jump packs
>>96287409->
>>96287366Anons don't be illiterate. The moral of the story is that they always had the option for millenia, but dogma prevented them from doing it and only through the actions of rulebreakers was reason restored
>>96287481Realistically AV13 side because its easy to hide the back with their massive range. Or have a screening unit to push them outside melta.
>>96287466It's pretty versitile
>>96287449Let that be lesson for you
>>96287345The average game size is 3k points, so a 1k deathstar is more like a 667 point deathstar in a 40K 2k points game
Also Spartans have good anti vehicle capabilities while being very tough for their cost, they donโt stop being useful after dumping their cargo
>>96287490>screening unitMultimeltas will always be in range. You must be either an idealist or a genious :^)
>>96287452My knight got obliterated by deep strike melta today, can confirm. Was freeblade so I got to auto explode at least.
>>96287514you missed the memo. Multimeltas do jackshit in 3rd edition. They're just S8 so if you shoot 18 multimeltas, 6 miss, then of the 12, 10 of them vanish into nothingness. Then the 12 wounds is reduced to 8 by smokescreen and have only wounded the tank (and zero statuses) despite firing a full 18 multimelta at it.
For a squad of even 10, that's a pitiful 4.4 wounds average ending up on the tank. Zero chance of you deepstriking 30 different multimeltas within 8" of his tank. And if you did that'd be your entire list's points cost to kill a single 365 point tank and lose every single objective.
>>96287515Did you remember to rotate ions
>>96287527Multimeltas on jetbikes are a kino scalpel unit because you can reliably get side/rear angles, especially if youโre playing Scars and have their blatantly overpowered reaction
>>96287556>you can reliably get side/rear anglesSpatans and LRs are AV14 all around
>>96287466Awww, what a cute little diglett head.
>>96287576Theyre also some of the least threatening vehicles. "oooo the 400pts box fires four lascannon shots per turn oooo"
>>96287527>smokescreen>the thing you ignore with a 10p wargear optionsure thing buddy
>>96287576Spartan equivalents (SEQs?) require their own tools to deal with, but they won't be the only vehicles in the game and being able to reliably get side angles/within melta range is nice
>>96287584During a test game with my buddy, I ignored his spartan and played the objectives and ended up winning.
>>96287514MMs are also only melta 8" so no, its not hard to screen rear armor even if youre in the middle of the board. Even then use board edges and a tech marine to screen the rear arc.
>>96287584That can only fire snapshots if they move more than 5" in a turn*
>>96287621A techmarine isn't going to screen anything by himself, he doesn't block LoS and DS doesn't work like it does in 40k
>>96286311How easy would it be to convert Saturnine into 40k obliterators? I bet they are the same size
>>96286364The greater good comes from my bolter, alien scum
>>96287466The spikes ruin it for me, nu-dg cringe. Where is his beer belly?
>>96287667Keep in mind SoT era DG were full on nu-dg
>>96287667This guy, officer. He's the faggot
>>96287667I donโt get the idea of hating death guard for being deathguard. Itโs like wanting warhammer to be realistic
>>96287610Its a 400pts box of do nothing, yea you can just ignore it.
>>96287630Pretty sure that isnt in the game any more. But its damage output is just kinda pathetic, you can safely ignore it and focus on other more relevant. units. The sort of stuff you need to kill asap is like knights or krios or vindicators. Or the proper superheavies. Those all have weak bottoms.
>>96287549No. I forgot it was free but it only improves the front arc so it wouldn't have helped.
>>96287695Vindicators is true, my buddy runs two of them with the stock cannon and even those have run rampant if I don't remove them ASAP.
>>96287638Park the rear of the tank such that either
>A unit physically can't fit between it and a board edge>Or use a techmarine to break up there the legal foot print would be so a whole unit can't fit in the rear arc and be outside 1" using a variety of terrain or other back field unitsIt is not hard when the main cannons have massive range to work is a good spot. Units need to stay in coherency when they land. Besides what are you going to squeeze in? 10 MM plus a large pod? Bikes with huge bases? A warmonger and 10 MM that suppress themselves?
>>96287697It improves whatever facing you want for one round of shooting, but drops all your saves to 6++ after the fact.
>>96287727I like how your strategy for avoiding rear shots on a midfield super heavy is to
>*checks notes*park it in the corner of your deployment zone
Somewhat overlooked rule in the superheavies sub-type:
Glancing hits don't cause super-heavies to roll on the damage table, they only inflict a single hull point of damage
I got your alien scum right here
>*kroot proceed to maul alive the uppity incel*
>>96287515Should have gone for the stomp, it allows you to turn and walk up to them to squish a few guys and present your front armor + shield
>>96287774>xenosfag posted in the wrong threadDisastrous.
>>96287762I missed that but that's also so weird. So they can't get statuses from glances, but can still get statuses from shock (I think).
>>96287694>>96287690>>96287686The spikes are a nu-dg aesthetic and it is cringe, simple as. The plague DG before was much more body horror focused not on generic spikes.
>>96287807The plauge dg from before didnโt have anything. They were boring. Reminds me
Of that one golden demon winner of the leviathan covered in nothing but dirt.just awful, and not in a good way.
>>96287817>The plauge dg from before didnโt have anything. They were boring. Wrong, picture related. The FW Plague DG mogg the plastic nu-dg so badly. They did not have tentacles and random long spikes, which doesn't fit the DG aesthetic at all.
You are entitled to your wrong opinion of course anon.
>>96287795Yeah, pretty much.
Also don't forget even primarchs can get statuses, lose combat and route.
>That'll never happen!Slaughter 20 tacticals standing next to Leman Russ and he'll turn tail and flee if he's in the same combat.
The thing to remember with primarchs is that all their melee AND ranged attacks are automatically precision, which can matter! You don't need a challenge to dumpster an enemy praetor, and having a sergeant accept a challenge does nothing to stop the primarch from ripping characters a new asshole in the fight after
>>96287807>The spikes are a nu-dg aestheticAbsolutely wrong
Zoomers PLEASE die
>>96287837Hey look, SPIKES
>>96287757No one is actually putting it midfield. It was an example of how bad multimeltas are with only 8" melta range. A single unit can screen it out.
>>96287774Kroot chicken soup mhmmmm
Did your dudes survive the Heresy? If so, what became of them in the Scouring and beyond? If not, when did they fall?
>>96287847Yes but not long overdone spikes. You retard, there is a difference between a tasteful spike here and there and a massive cluster which looks unesthetic.
Post a DG model you prefer anon.
My list:
3 Centurions: 270
3 Tactical squads: 300
3 Rhinos: 180
Logistical Benefit: Missile Heavy Support Squad: 250 points
9 Missile Heavy Support Squads: 2250 Points
Is this a good list????

@96287659
kamala lost
>>96287837Whyโd you post an illustration instead of the models
>>96287872I has 0 tarantulas and therefore you will lose every single game you try to play.
>>96287866>they didn't have spikes>oo-o-ookay they DID have spikes>B-B-B-BUT NOT THOSE SPIKESNo, go neck yourself
Am I fucking stupid or are there no rules for Sabres?
>>96287850>No one is actually putting it midfield. Why do you even bother posting in a thread about a game you don't play
If you can corner deploy a falchion and be able to shoot everything you want for the entire game, your table was shit
>praetors can't get a vexila but centurions can
huh?
>>96287844Challenges seem cool but it'll be weird seeing when they come up. In most situations a character is going to strike before a retinue, so it seems better to thin down the retinue before they attack rather than sit in a challenge where odds are neither of you are killing the other first round.

As I'm not a Legion army I get to take my pick of the auxilia reactions, going to have to try a few things with those and the Ultima Cohort free reactions there, but it's very possible that any combination of those is worse than just having Line 2 Expendable 1 bodies on the board. We'll have to see what Militia and Cults chaff looks like, if we indeed get that army back.
I may be misreading the tank movement rules, but I don't think they can actually push models out of their way like you used to with Tank Shock. They can drive over a single line of bodies, but if you don't leave a vehicle-sized space I'm not sure they can push past your infantry blobs without first killing them off or forcing them to rout, which is possibly another benefit of having dozens of dirt cheap boys.

>>96286250I just wanted to roll some dice.
For more flexibility, detachment jenga is a pain in the ass. I wanted to have Dominators in my list with my Warsmith, except that takes an apex retinue slot, meaning I'd have to get another Centurion to take the extra slots required for the Land Raider, leaving no real points for anything else (I end up with something like 145 points spare if I do that) OR I take the Hammer of Olympia and be able to get the LR and Terminators for cheaper as well as 300 extra points for something else (in this case I put Tyrants in to make use of the slot)
Thoughts on the list so far?
Historically, based on the weapon types and the model count, what Legion has the best chance to support a Saturnine-only army in long term?
I want to start a force of nothing but Saturnine Terminators and Saturnine Dreads. I know that for now we only know about the Saturnine Command squad and there is no confirmation for many more Saturnine units to be released but I am ready to struggle with an extremely limited selection of profiles.
Since it's a side project I am open to any Legion as long as it provides a proper support rules-wise.

Have we discussed how the DereDere Dread actually has some pretty good guns this edition? Sure, they lost BS, but with the exception of the Plasma of course, since this is Plasma Is Shit Edition. All of their main gun options seem... good?
>Autocannons: 6 shots, Str8, 2 damage, Breaching 5+, will kill Terminators if you breach and they fail their Inv.
>Lascannons: Str9, upto 10 if they don't move and the range is good. 4 Damage, 2 shots will probably get through a Spartan eventually, or if combined with something else.
>Volkite Falconet: 10 shots (!!!), Str7, Deflagrate, and is the only Volkite weapon to have Pinning, Pinning (2) at that, making it an amazing anti-Tactical weapon.
Sure the rocket launcher is kind of meh and just sort of there, but I think the DDD looks like it has some fun options.
>>96289373I struggle with new building. I liked making diverse lists as DA player but now the HQ tax ruins it so I have to take less.

>>96289396The blast profile of the deredeo's plasma weapon has 2 damage and still has breaching 4+, it's still good. Especially with how accurate blast weapons are now.
>>96289407I dunno. Breach 4+ is good, but I do kind of feel myself liking the other options more. The fact that non-overcharge mode is literally just the Autocannon but WORSE is fucking dumb.

cool so what am I supposed to do with all these marines that have melee weps and a bolter or all my oddball marines that have a single special wep like graviton gun, rocket launcher, plasma gun... where can I actually use them short of buying 10 more of the cunts with the exact same loadout and making them a support squad?
>>96289411Even in the old edition people were only firing the blast profile anyway.
>>96289211GW and the warhammer fan base is full of trannies. It's only to be expected that they ignore biological females in order to troon out male factions.
>>96289414Veteran tacticals still can take any of the heavy or special weapon, one per five.
If you want melee veterans on foot you gotta look at the centurion command squad profile, those are pretty much exactly the old veteran unit entry from 2.0, melee weapons and ranged weapons mixing and all.
Some people here are deprived of attention
>>96289373So yeah, it's either run those Terminators, OR take them all out and the detachment out and have nowhere to stick my Warsmith, but then have 800~ to shove in some more special or heavy weapons and maybe another tank or two

20 *1/2 *1/2 * 1/2 = 2.5~, so it takes around 3 rounds of shooting for a 10 man seeker squad to kill any primarch in the game (that isnt lion hiding with some companions), or magnus if he has shrouded.

>>96289710So not possible within a normal mission. He really is Horus Heresy
>>96289718Realistically 10 seekers wont kill any primarch, between counter-battery and transports and stuff (corax's snapshots rule for example reduces the damage by 33%, likewise if the retinue is t5 which it will often be).

A vigilator does (without paragon) 1*1/3*1/2*3+1*1/3*1/3*1/2*2+1*1/3*1/3*1/6*2=0.65 wounds on average to a praetor. Theyre really not very high DPS (the flipside of course is that they have a what, 1/3 chance to one-shot a centurion (assuming theyre paragoned)? Very spiky.
I was looking at the various command options and noticed the Herald. Wodner if he's ever worth it? He wants to be in challenges but can only take a power fist, so most of the time he's going to be a 100 pt tax to get one or two points per game due to his unit winning combat instead. Maybe it's enough? I wonder if his basic power weapon can be exchanged for anything interesting like chainglaives or power scythes that might make him a better duelist
Taken a shitload of fiddling to get this to fit - thoughts on the actual content? I wanted to get more than 1 group of Termies in there and some CCQ capability, but that meant requiring another Land Raider. The Cata Command Squad is actually representing Dominators and is 5 points cheaper than current cost, leaving me with 85 points left over.
The alternative plan involves just the Warsmith, Dominators and Land Raider, and then spending the other points on HSS and TSS squads, but it feels expensive and squishy
>>96289810Maybe turn one of the Cata squads into Tartaros? And give them some real weapons instead of power swords
>>96289817Tits, entirely forgot to adjust that to fists - good spot. Don't have 85 points left then, I have 55.

>>96289689there's not a single primarch in game that seekers wound on 4+ so no idea what the fuck you think you mathed.
10 kraken bolters is 10 precision landing on primarch, wounding on 6+ that's 1.67 wounds, then 4++ takes it to 0.8 total wounds suffered.
3 rounds of shooting is just 2 wounds on average, which kills zero primarchs in the game.
>>96289810I've also got this list which seems like a bit of an asshole move - but at the same time I don't know whether the Typhon would make it's points back compared to 5 Catas and a LR. Also gives me another 255pts to play with
>>96289806DA can give him a TGS, SW can give him a great frostblade, Sallies can forge-craft his fist for D3, night lords can give him a glaive or headsmans axe. Fists can give him a shield for 4++ and a solarite gauntlet.
Power weapons are the general "this can be upgraded" weapon.
>>96289848Carsoran power axes are better power axes. Carsoran power tabars are worse thunder hammers.
>>96289894Not how precision shots work. You would vs the majority toughness of the unit, then allocate. A primarch with t4 marines is t4, a primarch with t5 terminators is t5.
>>96289898Wow, another reason to never touch horus heresy 3 even once. Literally worse rules writing in every single system compared to 40k.

The sculptor must have imagined that there's a limbless nugget of a marine in there. I mean the limbs of the armor are clearly attached to the torso by mechanical servo joints. That's not armor sleeved over a person's extremities, those are completely cybernetic appendages built into the suit.
>>96289930I mean, the idea of a really big axe is pretty cool...
>>96289938That's because they are indeed nuggets. I'm not even sure if the marine's actual head is inside the helmet

>>96289687Dangles have that "custodian of forbidden tech" thing going on as well. >>96289996But Dangles' forbidden tech is mostly DAoT stuff and unification wars stuff. Saturnines aren't forbidden or poorly understood, just expensive.
>>96289806There's a couple of Legions who have interesting options with Heralds. We had this conversation a few weeks back. My personal top choices were Ultramarines with a free Storm Shield and either a fist or the Legatine Axe, and someone else posited the idea of a NL's one with a Headsmans Axe (probably the best weapon any version of the Herald can take) and the Gambit that let's him dodge challenges from guys who will mulch him.
>>96289938I still say we've got an Appleseed Landmate situation, and the guy's feet only go as far as the thighs and the arms are fully robotic and are controlled from within the central chest area "cockpit".
>>96289381we know there will be TS, WB and probably other Legion-specific units which HHG will endlessly bitch about because they're not WS5 3++ with better guns and melee, or because they're WS6 Knights Cenobium
if I had to guess outside of those I'd say BA, they've got significant resources and numbers of marines (as apparently only a few can pilot it effectively this matters), they've got significant numbers of psykers (and not as an asspull, they were the only loyalists with a psychic dread in 40k, and the lore for the Osiron says they made use of the tech, if not the pattern)

>>96291203The SA was invented for the same reason that the Mechanicum Taghmata, BA Dawnbreakers, dick bikes, Ruinstorm Daemons, or IW Tyrant Terminators were also invented: FW didn't really want people using the same minis (or with the same name) in more than one game.
>>96291249>FW didn't really want people using the same minis (or with the same name) in more than one game.Which is why they put Phobos Land Raiders, Castraferrum dreads, Leman Russes, Baneblades, etc. into the game that only had 40k models, while also instructing people to use Codex: Chaos Daemons. You're confusing FW with GW, who made 30k their own Leman Russes, Baneblades and other vehicles. None of this still doesn't explain why SA in particular, rather than something more generic Imperial Army. It's like GW making minis for Elysians and making all of IG Elysian pattern drop troops. Because SA models existed due to one dude and FW took them and ran with them, instead of designing something else.
>Mechanicum TaghmataThey existed before 40k Mechanicus had models.

>>96291304>Phobos Land Raiders, Castraferrum dreads, Leman Russes, Baneblades, etc.All these were originally FW models or the rules were designed to encourage players to use the FW versions. That's why HH russes have no sponsons.

>Taghmata existed before 40k Mechanicus had models.Alan knew that 40k AdMech was coming or was told not do it (because Jess Godwin had seniority and first gibs, I guess). Hence him pulling from his hairy ass a force that had never existed in the lore before in 40k or 30k. Btw, 40k AdMech was already a thing in other games.
>What 40k jetbikes were available as an alternative? The Bullock style jetbikes. Like the one used by Samael, in the early Heresy WS books, or in the custodes models that were also in the pipeline
>Ruinstorm DaemonsYes the ones whose rules favour without shame their resin models and pretend that the classic 40k/fanrtasy models do not exist despite being featured in the HH books
>IWThe IW signature unit since forever were Iron Havocs. Tyrant Terminators are a rip off from that previous Visions UM art, yes. Probably because back then the authors were also into the UMbad zeisgeist of 5th ed, until Abnett fixed it with Know No Fear
FW basically created their own version of the HH to sell their resin. Which is more or less fine if you squint your eyes and pretend the game only covers a part of the possible battles, I guess. Or it was until the Specialist Games Studio went full retard with retcons, mischaracterizations, and shitty designs. Nowadays the HH game setting is almost an alternate universe to the actual past of 40k and the HH books
>>96287466Funny how all the conversions are desperately trying to hide the model's BIRTHING HIPS.
>>96289830Hahahah, no anon, you'll get refreshed Custodes to include ~30% female models in every box and a female character model(the only character model they'll release with the new style/proportions) and you'll fucking like it. >>96290972>>96291036Yes and no. As the other anon said, it was basically creeping fire, the difference between that and what IW were doing was, "Hey what if we willingly did danger close artillery?"
>>96291481I think I'm the only guy who never cared enough about the Custodes to see them having women in their ranks as a problem. If anything it helps differentiate them further from the Space Marines, an interesting juxtaposition between the golden elite who are both sexes and the grunts who are exclusively men, expendable brutes meant to live and die for war while the Custodes keeps the Emperor safe and cozy in his big shack on Terra. Speaking of which, all female Custodes are definitely even more attractive than the Sisters of Silence (and later on, Sororitas) so it makes sense that they'd be based off of female bodybuilders.
>>96291562Custodes being bespoke creations of the Emperor makes me alright with Amazonians.
>>96291021>Also that's just a particularly close range creeping barrage.Yeah but the Iron Warriors wouldn't reinvent that tactic until the Horus Heresy was already in full swing. They spent hundreds of years employing artillery before one warsmith decided to pioneer this tactic in the IW. Meanwhile the DA had dedicated specialists for this at least since Caliban's assimilation.
>>96291437>originallyAnd by the time SA came about, most of the stuff was available only through 40k kits. Or at least there was no reason to buy FW kits for said units unless it contained a gun you wanted (and didn't want to convert) or liked the style more.
>That's why HH russes have no sponsons.Militia ones had, until GW took over and introduced the 30k Russ kit without sponsons. The same way they introduced Predator Annihilators into 30k with the plastic Deimos Predator.
>No, you are the one confused in the order of eventsA lot of stuff that didn't have dedicated 30k models disappeared in 2.0. Meaning FW was more fine with having them around than GW.

>Yes the ones whose rules favour without shame their resin models and pretend that the classic 40k/fanrtasy models do not exist despite being featured in the HH booksOutside of characters and brutes, what FW Ruinstorm models were back in 1.0? And through Books 1-7, your only option was using Codex: Chaos Daemons because Ruinstorm list did not exist and the HH rules acknowledged this. So much for FW not wanting you to use 40k models.

If you can't tell that GW does a deliberate effort to keep apart mini ranges, you're blind. The SA dude didn't just get lucky, it was a deliberate way for FW to not need to use 40k-like IG models in the HH. That's why the Chimera still doesn't have rules.

>>96292174>>Why the fuck would anyone PAY to swap a Palatine Blade for a Phoenix Rapier?Theyre D2 on the charge right?
But yea, WE caedere weapons arent crazy any more but theres some interesting options in there for characters.
>>96292197It's telling just how insanely bonkers they were that they've been nerfed so heavily and they're STILL really good.
Remind me, old Falax Blades literally had something absolutely dumb like Breaching 4+ or something didn't they?
On the DG side of things, I do kind of like how their Predators can now just run about, daring people to charge them and then fuck them over with three Poison 3+ flamer shots.
They're not even heavy either, so you can just slam them onto a Vet HWSS and have them warcrime the fuck out of people on the volley. Jesus, you could put a Mortalis Mori in there as well and abuse the firestorm ability to double shoot stuff every turn... once you got into range.
>>96292234>Remind me, old Falax Blades literally had something absolutely dumb like Breaching 4+ or something didn't they?Rending 4+ and +2A (iirc).

Indeed it was no balance at all, merely damage control; ineffective, at that.
Somewhat related, now Tartaros and Cataphractii cost the same and have the same options... then why keep them as separate unit entries? Terminator Praetors and Termie Centurions are a single entry with a choice of cata or tartaros, now that they are equal.
Why not at a unit level? Unironically what keeps them from it? Even more so, look at this:
Why can't you have 12 Tartaros, seeing how you can have 12 Cataphractii already???

I've seen people here mention they ask chat gpt for units points, or damage stats, with no or bad results. well, no shit, feed him the pdf, give him context and you'll get whatever you like. At this point any shortcoming with IA is user error.

>>962926471x10 assault destroyed with 2 Rad missile launchers and 1x10 Mortalis Destroyers with 2 serpenta and 2 rad missiles launchers in a rhino.
It was only our second game. The first mission with the 3vp objective in the center. I also brought 2 phosphex rapiers and killed only a handful of vets but they routed all the way off the table turn 3 due to poor rolls.
>>96292834Did you deep strike the Assault Destroyers?
How about the Mortalis, did charging from a rhino hinder you?
Basically I'm wondering if not getting to use Firestorm right away is a penalty.
>think about snowflake OCs as exercise

>they would be incompatible with most armies because of fluff
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Would these be fine to use? I quite like the big swords from the new EC shit, but the armor isnt quite something that existed in HH (also the scale might be all sorts of fucked for all I know)
>>96292907Yeah these are totally fine. The big sword is probably too big for anything short of a Paragon blade though.
>>96292845Yes and my Mortalis never got into CC because nothing was alive on a point. I accidently cheated, I thought rad missiles were still 1 shot blast 3", now they're just 2 shots. Mortalis were on a flank with the phosphex so that tac squad was toast either way and when I did kill them it was 2 marines left so the math was almost fine. That flank had a double las contemptor that was shooting rhinos.
My assaults came down poised to shoot up the breachers but I had a tac squad other flank farming an Objective. That side also had my Seekers and Nex that killed his seekers and a tac squad. We called it after my reserves.
Does IF +1 to shoot work on snap shots? We played it that way so my trait was a bit middling.
>>96292174Continuing my fruitless journey to see what nonsense someone can do with Heralds have led me to this discovery: Terminator Heralds have full access to the Terminator Melee Options list.
The direct benefit of this is of course it allows him to swing a Thunder Hammer about. The indirect benefits of THAT are that:
>Iron Warriors Terminator Heralds can take a Graviton Crusher. Which is now a straight upgrade to the hammer.>Salamanders therefore get the +1 Attack Master Crafter Hammer... although the jury is out on whether you just want to stick to the D3 Fist. I feel that the extra attack to a D2 weapon probably makes the MC Hammer the superior choice.>As discussed, Iron Hands can give their Herald a 5++ Feel No Pain save. That's basically it. The IW and Salamander Hammer options seem pretty interesting, and with the Paragon of Battle Prime benefit, could actually make them pretty murderous little shits in a challenge.
I did have a vague idea about the nonsense you could have putting a WB Herald with a unit of Procurators, but unfortunately they have bitter duty... which at this point, I don't think any command choices have? Is that right?
>>96292927That was the plan more or less. Its obviously too big and scary to use as a normal ass power sword (and id hate to have it be that lame anyways)
>>96292932I see.
That's some interesting data, thanks anon.
I want to convert some Destroyers once the MK2 Assault squads are here.
>>96292834That doesn't sound like the IF had too few units with line. More like he left them exposed, without support from other units and thus easy to kill. But wasn't there so what do I know.
>>96292954Yeah base 2 attacks and chainswords will make them nasty. Next game I think I'll start the assault ones on the board and go from there. I might put Nex in the Mortalis for Shrouded and move them up a flank. That way they're far from the center to maintain shrouded.
Also stuck my Praetor in my Augury squad, which was great.
Other notable moments: 5 Dark Furies bounced off 8 Templar Brethren. 10 Plasmaguns in a squad over charging whiffed against said Templar and is what brought them to from 10. 5 Mor Deythan plus Vigilator did 3 wounds to a contemptor and couldn't wound anything else.
>>96293004>Next game I think I'll start the assault ones on the board and go from thereThat's what I'm thinking of doing with mine.
Since I play IW, one of my big brain plans I've hatched is to use a Delegatus to get a second Hammer of Olympia, then run 2x 5 man squads with Volkite and have them zoom up the board turn 1 to try and find me a good opening.
>>96293012Forgot to say I needed a second HoO so both squads are Expendable.
>>96292985Using his Tacs to shoot my seekers and destroyers for spicy return fire was a mistake on his part. He had a spartan for 10 templar and Praetor, 10 rotors i pinned so they got stuck, a kheres dread, and las dread. He spread out too much. Had he picked the center and a flank and just camped with Tacs he would have scored more. Return fire I rolled hot with the seekers. But it was a learning game and he's more about bringing what he wants and throwing dice. Best opponent you'll find.
>>96293053>Using his Tacs to shoot my seekers and destroyers for spicy return fireLmao what an idiot
>>96292637My retard take: Breachers should be 100 pts. Sure they gain the shields, but also lose Fury of the Legion and 1 Line. One thing for the other
How are TS Destroyers with Asphyx pistols?
What about Destroyers with hand flamers?
>>96293150I think volkite beats flamers in most cases.
>>96293197I wanted to see the math for Volkite destroyer damage against meq:
Assuming a unit of 10 destroyers, you're getting 40 shots, ~27 hits, 18 wounds, 6 unsaved wounds (which then cause 6 more hits, 4 wounds, and around 1.3 unsaved wounds).
For a total of around 7.3 wounds against meq.
Factoring in firestorm, a unit of ten should easily expect to murder a ten man tactical squad per turn, and will probably average around 15 dead marines most of the time.
>>96292932IF should get the +1 on snap shots, as it's worded they get it on any firing group over 5 dice, and from what I've read nothing about snapshots says they can't be modified. Then again I'm biased and wasn't looking that hard.
