I used to hate Omniscience but eventually crafted it and was my deck of choice until the banhammer. Kiora Bests the Sea God was also my kind of win condition. So I don't know, I like those cards, if you mean Dracogenesis then no.

It is that time again. Any advice about this draft deck?
I didn't get anything special, my designated rare is the Chorale of the Void, but that's a janky enough card that I'm a bit scared of including it. The dog is a more practical anti-graveyard tech, I think.
Also I have 2 x Embrace Oblivion, but I'm only putting in one because I only have so much to sacrifice to it.
Thoughts?

Not him but it scored me 2 wins on its own before which is amusing. Keep in mind that its not unreasonable for that thing to mill 20 on its own. Count the starting 7 and normal draws and opponent is already on 10 cards left. Of course you could play yourself or eat a dead card in hand but its not unplayable. Also winning by mill out is always funny.

Biggest issue I see is being low on creatures, it's the kind of deck where I would love mechanozoa. You can play the other embrace oblivion but I don't think you're lacking removal, not convinced it's even better than another lost in space. I like the sentinel over the voidborn but not going to fight you hard on it, your deck is kind of done honestly.

After losing the first game to Genemorph Imago + Illvoi Infiltrator, I replaced the Mechan Shieldmate with another Embrace Oblivion because he was completely useless there. The second game was also Genemorph Imago, but I won that one.
Then I lost one game to drawing 2 embrace oblivion and the only card I had to go with it, the opponent took out of my hand, so I just had a bricked hand.
And the third loss was to a complete, total gigaflood - 11/18 draws were lands by turn 10. The only thing keeping me alive was was Secluded Starforge and by the time I had cards actually coming it the board state was beyond repair. And the opponent was literally spamming mythics and rares every turn, like holy shit. Anticausal Vestige, Quantum Riddler, Starwinder. The only commons coming out his hands were removal, all of his creatures were at least uncommon. I might even be able to deal with that because the deck is so removal heavy, but still what the fuck?

1) Keyword "Exit" already, my autism can't deal with the fact that there isn't an inverse of "Enter"
2) Expand "Dies" to all permanents, the flavor of making it creature specific isn't worth it.
3) Make a keyword for "When it enters, if it was cast". This should be more common and the fact that cheating permanents is expected instead of excepted is half of the problems with balancing this game.

this thread started out with someone getting their post deleted for calling it out for posting without its trip.

I really feel like I get this draft format now. Green is obviously the best but the color I end up in the most is Blue. I really don’t like Red, it’s just not as powerful as the other colors when they’re popping off and it’s removal is and at dealing with all the huge Green creatures. Bombard would be premium in most formats but is just okay in this one. Plasma Bolt is not good really, I’d play it but don’t like multiples.

UW is the most underrated deck. I’ve won a bunch of drafts just drafting Cryogenic Relic and Selfcraft Mechan. Fliers are also really good in this format so Station Monitor is my favorite uncommon (not the best just my favorite)

Alert to poorfags, recommended Standard deck ahead, no rares needed. Is it the best deck in Standard? No. But it's seriously impressed me, I think it's actually tier 2-3 and I would rather play this than something like monored or delirium right now. The amount of lands looks looney toones but 2 of your 1 drops scry so it kind of works. I've only played Bo1 and the Vivi matchup hasn't even looked bad although it's tough, I've lost because I took their wrong card a couple of times. What's looked bad are llanowar elves decks, one of the strengths of this deck is that it's pretty good at removing one blocker each turn while developing in the early turns and the Temur Battlecrier deck just shits on that plan, Esper with Cosmogrand Zenith can also stall the game very quickly and they control the sky.

The one card that has felt like a miss is Defiled Crypt/Cadaver Lab, it has been just Raise Dead in all my games and I'm very suspicious games where you spend 4 mana to try to grind are winnable. But the one Raise Dead isn't tragic really. Oh and the Mudflat Villages can get Deep-Cavern Bat or Thought-Stalker Warlock in theory but I think I've used them like twice in 40 games, I can see having no swamps in your opening hand and your removal being delayed into a loss, not sure what other options are there but you want untapped lands that can tap for black mana.

Nontoken artifacts are lands. But you can't tap them for mana. But you can turn them into a creature that's still a land that doesn't tap for mana. And when that creatue dies it comes back as a noncreature artifact that's still a land that you can't tap for mana and that is tapped.

I've been thinking about getting some paper decks to maybe introduce some of my friends to the game. I think artisan is probably a good cost/power compromise, and monocolor is a good way to get a feel of what they're about while keeping things simple. Archetype wise I'm thinking

U: probably tempo, I don't think control would work and flyers isn't a good example of what blue really is
B: sacrifice
R: cavalcade of calamity or goblins
G: stompy
That being said, I'm concerned about balance. How would you figure out they're evenly matched?

I have a 2 card combo, that I want to have in my starting hand. The 2 card combo can be made with 3 different cards which I have a total of 12 in my deck, I just need 2 out of 3 of these cards. 10 games, mulliganing down to 5 in each game and I only got the combo pieces a single time.

In my idea we wouldn't get bonus sheet cards either. Just latest set constructed, standard legal cards only. Standard is far too cancerous and strong to actually play when you combine cards from the different sets because of the insane power creep this game has. Sure it isn't as bad as like Vintage or Legacy or Modern, but it's still just not fun to play at all. Every game is just awful. You either lose instantly, win instantly, or go into a top deck war against some control loser and usually lose. It doesn't help that whoever goes first pretty much has an 80% chance of winning.

Have you never played against him? It's not 4 mana ramp, it's ramp every single turn (potentially also on opponent's turns too) as well as a wincon. Being in the commander slot means you always have access to him, and he already helps pay his own tax if removed. He's been a scourge of the format since the start. It's the same reason golos is cancer, but they apparently didn't learn shit from that.

When avatar released I was at university and I already had a lot of animu to watch, so it went to my backlog and I never started. While I heard good things about it, it didn't look appealing, I've never watched an episode but I've watched some clips on youtube and it has never clicked with me. My question is, for those of you that saw/liked the show, are the cards spoiled about what you expected? I'm a bit surprised by how little they've made me want to watch the show and I'm not sure if it's an avatar issue, or magic or if it's me. Feels like people were too negative on this limited format, even if FIN was likely better I think that was more of an issue of FIN doing a lot of things really well. While green seems to be everyone's favorite there seems to be a lot of division of by how much and what the most effective strategies are now that people are drafting green "correctly". And people seem to have enjoyed since the start that gameplay was trickier than usual. I wish ship and planets were a bit different but still, I put it above dragonstorm and if you gave me dismal backwater kind of cards maybe about aetherdrift, not sure.

Imagine being a multi billion dollar company and moving forward with a set release before the whole IP thing was hammered out. Wouldn't that be crazy? Anyway, who's excited for Avatar?!

Even with those faults mostly being solved by playing smarter, it still sucks that it feels so oppressive when someone drops a bomb and you don't have an answer for it for a couple turns. Like if someone drops ouro you just lose unless you have a removal or were already winning and can chump block a few turns. If someone drops the 2 mana black menace ward creature on turn 2, you can just lose the game quite quickly, especially if they have a bunch of removal and can just attack for free or if they meltstrider's it and then have a 4/3 unblockable creature on turn 3 (turn 2 if they gene pollinator'd on turn 1). Lumen class frigate which seems to be abundant is also scary and it can be tutored with either the 2 drop or with scour for scrap. So many bombs in this format are just overwhelming it feels. I never really felt that in FIN, since it seemed that either rares were lower powered or cards were just better equipped to deal with them. I feel like this format is a lot easier to win in traditional, but it sucks that traditional isn't ranked.

I went from plan 2 to diamond 4 today with a poison deck.
You have to play anti meta, and the low rank meta is hydra on one side and lifegain(usually with bunnies) on the other.
And poison is the counter to both.
The upper ranks are control oriented with Ugin, Simularcum Printer, Elspeth or Morang as the finisher.
