>>96294764all right you aren't a retard nice
>>96294655When you *really* want a heap of damage to finish the game, you can attach the aura to the Stormsinger. It'll hit first because it has First Strike, and trigger. You can then move the aura to one of the myriad-clone Enforcers to get another trigger when they deal normal strike damage, then get a second trigger, then move the aura to the original Enforcer. You can easily get some staggering combat chainings with that.

Okay /edhg/ I have a challenge for you, can you explain to me why I'm so retarded and cannot possibly build a good deck?
I've recently enrolled in my LGS's commander league and I've been having a good time socially (gross) but I always get folded like a lawn chair when it comes to actually winning a fucking game, Typically the usual decks at my table aren't anything insane or even really that competitive but they seem to steamroll me regardless, this is despite the fact that the league has a ban on infinite combos so its not like I'm just losing to not responding to a specific piece in time.
The main few decks I have built at the moment are Edgar Markov, Ruby Daring Tracker and that Inspirit pre-con with some upgrades I threw together from the FF Tidus pre-con. I tend towards more aggressive strategies but they never seem to be aggressive *enough* to out-speed my opponents.
>>96295047all precons are dogshit and should only be played against other precons at best. to make a precon good while staying in bracket 2, you will switch out LOTS of cards, to a point where you cannot even call it an upgraded precon anymore.
>>96295010the one and only ARIXMETHES
>can do a honest to god timmy deck and just ramp and drop one or more sea monsters every turn>can upgrade it into a jank combo deck with the goal to go infinite mana and timmy even harder
>>96295066>thinking of getting into commander>chooses between $170 bad precon or most boring tribal archetypeWhy are all new players like this??
>>9629472230 One of each color combination. Start with your favorite color combination, then go with a mono color and off to the races.
>>96294762 (OP)>What are some of your favorite combo line that you like to include in your deck, doesn't have to be infinite?Anything involving this bitch.
>>96295151first of all: your opponents cheat, at all times. you need to internalize that. only absolute sociopaths play a card game league. so either start cheating, or stop playing in a league.
b) speed is only king when you want to kill one guy fast. against 3 people, it's best to have a slower, defensive board that can interact a lot. stuff like having an interaction ability on the board ready at all times will scare a lot of opponents from making a move.
4: money is king. a well-constructed $600 deck will always outperform a well-constructed $100 deck. if you bring an upgraded precon, people will just shit on your with ease. either invest into better cards like a good little piggy, or learn how to use a printer.

>>96295464They just printed """Suplex""" in Final Fantasy. It's red artifact exiling. Little thing called power creep, sport.
As removal gets better, more cost effective, more versatile, cards increasingly get indestructible to make them less easy to remove.
Consequently, removal gets better, and the easiest way to do that is to exile instead of destroying. But WotC is exploring other avenues for that like:
>Ward - Sac eleventy billion permanents and allow your penis length to be measured and put on the store's officially sanctioned WPN leaderboardIt's the great evolutionary arms race
>>96295490suplex isn't even an instant

Suplex is regarded as unwieldy because it exists in the same design space as Abrade but is only Sorcery speed.

Watching him bitch about how people don't want to watch ads was so delightful. I think a man's stance on ads is so telling. You have real people who will not tolerate even a short ad because they understand their time is their own and they should not be forced to sit through a fucking ad for something they probably don't even want in the first place and lost precious seconds of their lives, and then you have the non humans. The """people" who have sided with the corporations and decided that intrusion upon how you wish to spend your brief time on this planet is so normalized that it should not be objectionable.
I installed SponsorBlock for youtube almost exactly a year ago, and in that time I have skipped literally entire DAYS of shit like sponsors, intros and end credits etc. It's kind of incredible how much it all adds up over time.
>>96295568Exile is new, bro. Exile is very new.
>>96295574Just his French version, it's thé retard.
>>96295490Exile-based artifact removal was prompted by a certain 4-drop having indestructible and consequently being impossible to remove. Red has so far gotten 3 different "Abrade-like" cards aimed at fulfilling this role and big shocker it turns out weaker Abrade won't magically fix the card's dominance because Abrade itself was already struggling with not answering an adequate number of threats for its mana cost.
WotC HATES printing good removal specifically because people complain whenever it exists. Removal is currently lagging years behind the quality of threats which is why constructed 60-card is on fire from every single fucking threat being unanswerable.
>>96295576I unironically wish him to fall off the wagon and get extremely drunk again and die, just like Amy Winehouse, couldn't happen to a better person. He was in favor of when stalkers sent people pics of their home and telling them to kill themselves. So it's fair game.
>>96295564>just shuffle up and play again.I think this is the ultimate "let them eat cake" statement of EDH.
I am very fortunate that I can play between 4-6 games of EDH a week across 2 days. This time is pretty soon going to come to an end, but I'm making the most of it now. But even getting to play that much, I'm not happy to "shuffle up and play again" because very often we don't actually fucking have time for that. If a game ends at an awkward point in our allotted play time, it usually means going home early because there isn't enough time for another one. Or people have come to the LGS saying they're only going to stay for a set number of games rather than a set amount of time.
And I don't want to just play half a dozen games where they all end on turn 3, because that's not really playing, you might as well just reveal your hands and first 3 draws on turn 1 and see who would have had their combo out first.
These people who somehow manage to play Magic for a living play tens of games a week. Of course it doesn't matter to them if a game ends "early" because they have fuck-all else to be doing.
For them to be calling down from their ivory towers "this is good, you actually get to play MORE Magic now the game is already over" is so wildly out of touch.
>>96295597>He was in favor of when stalkers sent people pics of their home and telling them to kill themselvesQuick run down?

>>962951519 times out of 10 it’s a consistency problem, and a further 9 times out of 10 rhe problem with consistency is lack of draw.
Cram your deck with draw spells and pay offs. For just about any deck theme there will be cards that say “when you do the thing, draw a card”- whether it’s playing enchantments, playing artifacts, playing instants and sorceries, playing creatures with low power, playing creatures with high power. Theres even cards that’ll just let you draw however many times per turn, or when your opponents do things.
Once your deck has strong draw power you will see it perform better simply because you have more options each game

>the company making money is not necessarily good for your hobbyWarhammer fans understand this. Their game has undergone constant shrinkflation. Every year (sometimes even multiple times a year) Warhammer prices go up, meanwhile what you get in a box has consistently gone down. Games Workshop is now a billion dollar company, their share price keeps going up year on year. And yet Warhammer players are able to understand that line going up does not translate to a better quality game or a better hobby experience. Magic players, whether honest or not, do not seem to understand this. One of the biggest defenses to the raping of this hobby is that it is profitable.
>Final Fantasy best selling set ever!!!!!!>lots of new players (probably, we don't know because WotC doesn't release that information and would never tell us if it was actually a net loss)!!!!!!!!It's just so bizarre for people to defend something on the basis that it is good for a corporation.

I'd even be interested to know if announcements at the time said they would UW it.
No, the answer you're looking for is:
>accommodating the IP matters more than translating it to MagicThat is a simple truth that has remained consistent. It's why we have fucking Jumbo Cactuar with 10,000 power. Absurd number, but it's "le heckin flavor win!!!!!!!!!"
It is clear as day that Wizards values the IPs they license more than the game itself.
>>96297183It was probably 100% a brand decision. Sometimes we get special tokens to specifically dodge synergies, but then the TWD cards don't do anything to "Walkers" specifically either.
The power creep in mtg is just too much these days, I feel like a deck I made 2 years ago is already obsolete. Every time I go to my LGS people threaten to win turns 3-5 no joke. I think precon wars is just more fun, if I want some fast shit I would just play 1x1 formats

The same goes for a number of cards made to reflect their game appearances, like Tonberries as enters-tapped deathtouch creatures or things like Excalibur II from FF9 being a card you want to get on field as soon as possible (referencing its acquisition method).
The TWD Walker tokens scream of executive meddling from outside WOTC; because there's no fan-facing reason to do that. They aren't even mechanically different tokens (which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine now that we have so many tokens with the same names, but different statlines, rules and keywords... my WIP Cat deck weeps).
There's something to be said for references and ideas on paper not being good when you print them on cardboard, but the phrase that is most applicable in my mind is "It is better to be bad than it is to be boring".

While ultimately every deck will never be able to always have it, I think many casuals players lean too hard on "I didn't draw it!" as an excuse for poor deckbuilding.
Like they'll have 5 sources of draw in their whole deck and 2 are cantrips. Accompanied by 2 pieces of interaction total. Yeah no shit you didn't draw it because you're not drawing shit, let alone one of two specific cards.

>>96301646jokes on you i only watch children's cartoons that are so timeless even chinks can understand them
>>96301216Moisture, yeah? A really small silica gel pack shoved into a box with them should get them flatter than an Irish ass after a bit of time
>>96301646Ah I remember desperately trying to appear grown up
>>96301779The fact you're still seething about (rightly) being called an infant for watching children's cartoons doesn't give you much ground to stand on there anon
>>96301789>Jump giant walls of texts about something incredibly pointless >Accuse other people of seething Your daily metlies are no longer entertaining.
>>96301789Anon i just showed up. I watch what I want and have never once concerned myself with what people think about it, as I am a man.
>>96301771fug u got me an azn and kang asking a kween for her autograph is way more of a British Broadcasting Corporation fetishoid symbol than a hyper masculine domineering kang getting doted on by 4 scrawny mayofaces with the women rolling his protection on with loving stares while the Timmies literally kneel before him handling his sword and ensuring its ready to go
ur right fren uw is for based 1488 manly christ fearing men and ub is for sissyhypno mindbroken kultmarx redditors you proved it
>>96301815>26 words is a wall of text>he HAD to reply>buzzword>"I'm not seething!"Once again, the lack of self awareness is far more humorous than anything in your manchild cartoons. Grow up lmao.
>>96301841I've read the thread.
I know, it's mind boggling that people can scroll up and see pattern recognition.
Adults don't whine endlessly about how much more adult they are than others.
>>96301852>i read the thread I guess you're just dumb then. Let me TLDR it for you in a wall of text you TOTALLY won't read
>cringe anon: "I watch cartoons because it's okay because they're made for children and adults with adult humor">me: "Example?">CA: "Reference humor.">me: "That's neither funny nor humorous to actual adults.">CA and other triggered machildren: "MELTY! WALL OF TEXTING! YOU'RE HUMORLESS! REDDITOR! BUZZWORDS! ASCHUALLY YOU'RE THE MANCHILD! I'M GOING TO REPLY TO EVERY ONE OF YOUR POSTS BECAUSE IM NOT A SEETHING MANCHILD!">me: "lol grow up"I'm moving on though, feel free to keep seething and throwing (You)s at me I'm not going to bother reading lol
>>96301887Yeah, sure showed us you really aren't the one seething.
Didn't even read btw, I care not for the whimperings of children.
The future of MtG is 5 UB sets a year with 1 in-universe set focused on Ugin and Bolas having gay sex while Kaya and Niko use their empowerment to dunk on Jace.
>>96301476Interesting. I'll look into it.
>>96301887>"That's neither funny nor humorous to actual adults."you could've fooled me since it's one of the most popular types of humor
>>96301556Nice. This was one of my wincons in my old Jenara wall deck.
>abuse Reveillark, Karmic Guide, Saffi combo with a sac outlet>get infinite mana>win>or blasting station everyone>tutors, blink on ETB walls, countersIt was pretty fun and resilient and non threatening back in the day. Nobody attacked the wall deck.
>>96301864Wait until the next Lorwyn, when the whole elf race war is dropped with zero mention and all the elves and faeries got fros.
Has there ever been a misspelling or grammar error on a magic card?
>>96301925Like 5 just from EoE
>>96301929>>96301935I can't find them. Chat, is this me?
>>96301925>>96301944I guess it depends on what you mean by "grammar error."
>>96301935 has a misspelling, but
>>96301929 is grammatically correct in explaining something different than intended.
>>96301935It's funny imagining that they still type the letters one by one instead of having a ready made template.
>>96301950Ok
>>96301929its instead of it's?
>>96301935Oh I see it now. Legenday.
>>96301971Good point. I wonder if it has something to do with the long type description.
>>96301935Maybe it's just meant to be a really good day
>>96301977>its instead of it's?it's supposed to say "Target creature you control" in the first line.
>>96301971MSE has dropdowns, but you can also type things in manually. maybe one guy has a weird workflow?

Are cluelands good for cluedeck? I assume so since before your turn starts you can use them to burn any unspent mana to get more clues
>>96302003I guess, but they cost too much for a single tokem
>>96302003I tried running them in Galazeth and used them a total of 0 times because 4 mana + tap the land is too much for one clue.
>>96301833Based Mark Poole insisted on drawing his wife (irl) on a card.
