Not even a little bit. It's a giant hideous toad with a perpetual grumpy face that just happens to have a protective streak for small human looking creatures (gnomes, halflings, children, etc). Folks like Chub Toad though after it helped protect an orphanage from a literal demonic invasion at the cost of an eye and front foot. He even has a statue built in his honor at the town he saved the kids in. Pic is his token in online play with a Talisman toad mini for IRL session.

No but they have a dogshit wood elf mercenary who can usually tank a couple of hits each fight before eating dirt

They've made friends with some kobolds, and they've adopted a goat after rescuing and repairing it.

Not this campiagn, but the previous campaign the party's warmage took three Kobold eggs after firebombing their lair and she decided to adopt them.

He was pet to an old halfling druid and was watching over her grave after she passed. The druid convinced him to give up the vigil to accompany the party instead of fighting him.

The name comes from the magic card "Chub Toad" and the flavor text of that card, originally meant to be a scary kind of nursery rhyme, was converted to be a threat to monsters and demons when put on the town statue.
