A system where you sort of spend aspects of yourself to create your means of using magic. With what you give up shaping what you obtain. Like you spend your arm to get a spectral limb that can be used to cast spells that have refined control. Or you spend your anger to summon a beast that can unleash destructive power with ease. But you don't completely lose what you spend, like you replace your arm with the spectral one, but it can still mostly function as a limb, and the summoned anger beast mostly dulls your anger or makes it feel more distant with the effect being greater when summoned. You could still express your anger, it would just be through the beast.
Maybe also accept aspects of magic into yourself to do something like gain a third eye, but it might be hard to control what it actually sees. In exchange though your sight improves your control because you can actually see and better understand your magic. Or an aspect of balance, where you gain an instinctual desire to balance things, but it enhances the efficiency of your magic.
