Nah I'm making an organic complaint, most of the male heroes make bad romances unless you're a furry or have a grandpa fetish, with the rest being psychopaths and playboys that are no good. Personally I tried at one point to figure out good pairings for the hero party, which resulted in my trying to analyze all the guys and ended up figuring out that all my favorite parings don't make sense. Mainly because there was only one guy, top row healer, who seems comparable with, damned near everyone, and I didn't feel like building a harem for him.

He's an asshole in the fact that he just accepted getting divorced and separated from his first wife and child by Evoco Auctor and then sold to Ford without a fight. Though knowing Evoco and Ford, they could easoly beat him and they are NOT above murdering your entire family and making their lives a living hell.

That's not what Sidithian inquisitors do. They find and kill traitors, specifically people who "[forget] their oaths". The examples given of the crimes of their targets are "corruption and rebellion", extremely serious and dangerous actions. Mainly because of the incentive to make a harem out of the party. Well there is the No One power that does let you change such that gender doesn't matter, but I think all of the power options for that are just a matter of shapeshifting. But you can also take Divine Right and apply it to a romance event like Pure Love, to get someone that you normally can't romance. Romance is actually contingent on the trait you get when you pick your original sex on the first page. This is basically the difference between a mechanics-driven and a logic-driven approach to interpreting a CYOA, anon. Nothing to do with 'fiat', just with a strict "by the rules" vs. "logically speaking..." What you pick in the cyoa are only the things that are guaranteed to happen and do not include what may or may not happen. This is not a snapshot universe that doesn't exist between events. Yeah I am mostly a Physicalist so I think that consciousness comes from the brain as by effecting the brain you effect consciousness too and the idea that there is some true soul mind that is interpreted by the brain and that in can be interpreted wrongly if the brain is somehow compromised doesn't sound appealing to me as it would imply that your current consciousness is some flawed version of the "real" you. I guess you could have the brain produce the consciousness and that be called a soul but that wouldn't really fit most eternal interpretations of the soul religious people have.

Really I always wondered which mind is transferred to the afterlife, would one still have their mental illnesses there and who or what decides what is removed? Like if a person with dementia died would they still have dementia in the afterlife? would they send a younger version of the mind and how much younger? or would there be a weird fusion of the two... where you would both remember having dementia but you would regain all your old memories. While I do agree that you can get an idea of what the abilities do, the text can be vague about the extent of what you can accomplish with them so simply make a build you think looks cool. Ignore the poetic ramblings and see them for what they are, ALL++ is just you being very strong, fast and resilient, the ELE(), ESS() and STA() are the elements you add to your skills so THRD(FIRE) would be flame bindings and so on.
You get so many points that most of the skills will feel redundant and just an add-on to your main idea but you can get quite creative with them.

I'm already pretty intelligent - with no diagnosed mental illnesses - so the odds of me getting a better brain are unlikely. Not impossible, but it'd be a foolish bet on my part.

Sime of the skills, though? One of the hidden (and often accidental) traps in most cyoas are language mismatches. The odds of being sent to a world that just happens to speak an Earth language - let alone one you also speak - are pretty slim

It might not be, though. Planeswalker Rising is based on a GURPS tabletop RPG that the author and his friends are playing. And back when he still openly posted, the author couldn't/wouldn't rule out the possibility that the Golden God is only at the center of the human portion of the omniverse. That he's more of a regional locus, than the true center.

That would work out much the same for Planeswalker Rising players, as they only have a limited planeswalking ability. One tied to the section the Scholars oversee. But people with an unlimited ability might find equivalent Outer Gods anchoring other sections of the omniverse.

There are a few that are pretty close though. Like Eve for Hero, or Madeline for Mage. Also despite liking Sappho more I take Chryseis as healer and get Sappho through A New Friend. I would like Sappho as part of the hero party, but I don't want to betray her. Though I do think it would be very amuse to have Ianthe and Sappho in the same party, particularly with either Shattered Fate or Triple Agent.
