Printers need electricity, kitbashing don't. If you need electricity, computers and the internet to hobby you are a goddamn fucking secondary. Back in my day we used LPG to melt pewter for casting. Fucking zoomers, I swear.

3d printers didnt exist in the old days, so kitbashing, sculpting and scratchbuilding was the way to modify things. Some of us got good at it and continue to use the kitbashing skills we learned because we enjoy doing it, Kitbashing is easy to do, cheap, a good way to recycle old models and spare bits and doesnt need an expensive, and fragile machine to do it.
Both methods are good and have their place though.

Don't knock it, it's an old and useful skill. I cast my own parts occasionally (space marine shoulder pads. decorative symbols to go on models, weapons, animal swarms, etc) instead of forking out a fortune to GW or Ebay for a few at a time..

None, except for faggots that want it faster, and it's all bullshit because I print in bulk (meaning I fill up the entire plate and eke out every inch of space), and I have more kitbashes for every single unit instead of doing them one by one.
I have a whole kitbash army in hours as it takes me to print and clean, while it takes one measly faggot days to give all his units a little skirt.

Its faster , you can create fun challenges to make something that "Fits" out of the materials you have at hand, you dont get bombed on resin fumes

I bought some resin printed mini’s from a name brand manufacturer recently and they smell terrible. Not gonna buy any more and definitely don’t want to manufacture them myself. PLA quality just isn’t there yet.
