The curtains sigh as you slip into the inner chamber. Bronze urns and a low brazier throw molten light across polished stone. A single dancer stands in the wash of candlelight, anklets chiming with each measured step, a filigree of jewelry catching the flame. Behind her, on a carved plinth beneath an arched recess, a small scarab of red glass seems to glow like a trapped ember.

You want that scarab. Whatever it is, charm, curse or symbol, the merchant who hired you promised coin for it. The dancer turns slowly; the world seems to hold its breath.

A) Slip the scarab free while she spins (Stealth)
B) Join her dance and speak softly (Charm / Deception)
C) Strike first and try to disarm her (Combat)

Roll d20. Success on 9+.
You rolled a 12, Success: You mirror her steps, and with a whispered compliment you touch her elbow. She smiles, not unkindly, and leans in. "Not every thief has rhythm," she murmurs, sliding the scarab into your palm as if offering a gift. "Keep your face straight; hurry now." You leave with the scarab and an odd ally’s blessing.

The history of sticks is crazy interesting in Britain. They went from having the best trained heavy infantry mercenaries in the Gallowglass (seen above), who used the best steel weaponry and armor available at the time to going backwards to wooden weapons. They then advanced the technology of sticks continually over the next few hundred years until they were still amongst the best fighters in Europe, but only using short clubs made from the fucking craziest wooden weapon tech imaginable.

AI Overview

The idiom "horse before the cart" (or more commonly, "cart before the horse") means to do things in the wrong order. It emphasizes the importance of doing things in a logical sequence, just as a horse should be in front of the cart to pull it.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
Literal meaning:
A horse is designed to pull a cart, and the cart is designed to be pulled by a horse. Putting the cart in front of the horse would make it impossible for the horse to move the cart.

The Manslayers rest while Sunblaze makes his way to his horse. When he asks where she went they point him in the correct direction.
By this point Röst has to carry Andris on her back as she had collapsed in exhaustion barely conscious. Within seconds of entering the forest Skogsrå appears and gently pulls Andris to the ground before pushing Röst aside. She wants to embed the roots to help but is afraid it could kill Andris given the state she's in and so only tells her to sleep.
Instead Skogsrå turns to Röst and gives her a small capsule made from leaves. She then commands Röst take this to her brother implanting the knowledge it will stop his bleeding and pain if placed in the wound, and if he wants, he may come to meet.

Originally when I introduced Piro in-game, I mentioned on /tg/ that I described her as barefoot. Now, it's important to not she's was in her own home standing on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace (because why not) and I was more making a joke that she'd rather go barefoot because she just can't find a good pair of spidersilk slippers on the surface.
/slop/ at the time had other barefoot elves (I think early renditions of Andris at the time, too) and I just rolled with it. Still finding quite a few be-shoed Piros as I take a trip down the depths of my folders.
But by 2024, it was pretty settled that she didn't wear shoes.
Angry crayon adventure Piro because it's on-topic and I think it's cute.

A herdstone, the only thing Warhammer beastmen make. They find and destroy an elven stone magical conduit, reshape it into a shrine dedicated to killing, then start placing defeated enemies weapons, trophy's, armor, and other such offerings to the gods at its base. It's a big rock that acts as an armory for when they choose to run raids or start wars.

Only two Manslayers right now. But enough weapons for half a dozen new ones.
