CR not using Daggerheart for their main adventure is a bit strange considering i thought it sold very well

perhaps WotC greased some palms, or maybe with the massive cast and Brennan they wanted to stick with something everyone (including the larger audience) is already familiar with

Are there any /actually/ good APs?
One where -
>the system isn't nuD&D style tripe
>the players and gamerunner all understand the system and can use and showcase it well so it both never gets in the way and stalls play and/or they never have to just ignore some chunk of it to continue smoothly
>the participants have good chemistry, aren't trying too hard to be funny, and roleplay without going into theaterkid or Mercer Effect dramatics
or
>they don't know dick about the system but are funny enough to carry through

You are a tremendous faggot if you watch shows of other people playing games and being friends. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

You are looking for 3d6 Down The Line, which is one of the very few actual plays that features old-school play (they mostly use OSE / B/X), generally feels like them actually playing D&D as a game, actually has okay production value and doesn't sound like ass, and has play that has pace to it and doesn't drag.

using daggerheart, their brand new system, is a giant financial risk for their flagship show. Using DnD is playing it safe.

I'll go to bat for OneShot, though you might not like their politics. They'll sit down, play the damn game, and talk about it especially if a creator or designer is there for the episode. Sometimes they'll dick around if the game is a more casual or jocular one but if it's a Horror or Historical Tragedy game, they'll play it pretty damn straight.

This anon is right. They'll use 5.5e for their main show and do some daggerheart on the side.
Also I'm glad people in this thread aren't being retarded about daggerheart. The narrative on this board tends to be that it's a failed dnd killer, despite it having a very different playstyle.

so I've liked Dimension 20, NADDPOD, worlds beyond number, Critical Roll, Dungeons and Daddies. Any others like these that I should check out? Funny is a plus

I've been enjoying Legends of Avantris lately.
It's like watching an Inverted version of Critical Role: The DM is usually Mid, but every player at the table is fucking hilarious for an entirely different set of reasons.
More than anything the way they build on their bits so that everything organically evolves into both Lore and a massive cross referenced inside joke makes the feeling of it being a bunch of friends playing D&D more authentic.
CR Campaign 1 felt like an actual Actual Play series, Campaign 2 felt more like they were doing it more for entertaining others than enjoying it themselves and it really dragged the overall vibe down. Campaign 3 felt like I was locked in the writer's room for a Third season of their animated series than any attempt to directly entertain or enjoy.

I feel the same way regarding CR. You could tell they'd built up not only a rapport with each other above table, but their characters had too.

I've been slowly going throught the Adventurers in Lollygagging podcast archive. I don't like seeing their faces, but in audio only it's a pretty nice group. They play different characters but they know they have a certain range and don't try to be theatre kids, they stop to go pver rules or check how their ideas would translate to mechanics like real people playing. I've heard them kill off some characters and you can hear that weird balance between recognizing the consequence of their actions and hating that they got fucking killed, like real life. In their Mothership game one player went through 3 characters, she kept getting killed.

>you might not like their politics
I don't like that this is something I have to think about at all. As long as they're not thumping bibles and bitching about Woke and DEI, or constantly bringing up Nazis and performatively purity testing it should be OK.
>>96393538
I'll add it to the list.
>>96396303
I actually prefer it. I seriously do not need to see "beautiful" people sitting on a set or aging grey troglodytes in front of their nerd cred bookcases.
