Would your character survive if Anton Chigurh was after them?

Yes, headshots (critical hits and precision damage to be specific) and any sort of non-magical attacks don't really threaten him anymore.

>5e Rogue/Cleric
Maybe, but the worst chances of the bunch. He's gotten divine hints before and he's a slippery bastard. There is the question of why Chigurh is even after him because my dude is mostly just a philanderer wrapped up in a shadow plot way bigger than him.
>Fantasy Fallout BoS character
Buckshot kinda just bounces off of him. Would solo Chigurh no issue; power level of the setting is just not the same. Still runs into the issue of what Chigurh even wants with him besides coin toss autism.
>any Nechronica character
lel and lmao
>Mage: The Acension
Uh... probably? Four dots in Forces is a lot, and he's a pretty vulgar fuckhead. Unless Chigurh domes him from nowhere the actual fight is pretty lopsided because it involves Chigurh getting struck by lightning twelve times.

One of my characters would win the flip. Then use that same coin on his coin flip.

Is Chigurh playing by the rules of my character's setting and ruleset, or by real life logic? If the former, then I think 2/3 would smoke him easily. If the latter:
>PF2e mythic elven wizard(wildspell)
Cleans up easily. Becomes completely undetectable, mindbreaks Chigurh and then walks off like nothing happened.
>PF2e human fighter/exemplar
Call this one a 50/50. If Chigurh gets the drop, my guy is probably already dead. Otherwise he'll probably avoid the worst of any injuries, regenerate through them, and simply win the battle of attrition.
>D&D 3.5e human rogue
Completely fucked.

who?

The only character I use for these questions is my Nechronica character as the question is always written with some D&D style "adventurer" in mind, so using something completely different at least tends to make the hypothetical scenario somewhat interesting to figure out, but in this case the answer is pretty obvious.
Or, in other words:
lel and lmao

Last PC I had helped run a dude like this to ground, killed his hired guns with automatic gauss rifle fire, and turned over his execution to a fellow party member who really wanted to do it.

It wasn't even the first time the group and the PC had dealt with hit men.

absolutely. He'd either die in major miscast accident or he'd be sniped from above.

it's a bolt pistol, in the original agricultural meaning going way back before 40k co-opted the term

>A Time of War
If he gets caught outside his 'Mech, he's getting smoked by Chigurh. That being said, he'd now have to find a way to get off the planet before his comrades find him and reenact the crucifixion.
>Wrath & Glory
Telepath Psyker so largely depends on if he sees him coming or not. That being said, probably a 50/50 because Chigurh gets one good chance to put him down before getting beat to death with a sledgehammer.

He only uses the bolt on random rubes. His other thing is some sorta bespoke pneumatic shotgun.

Honestly I have to wonder if Chigur would really get that far in an IRL context. Even with the information deficit you have to account for with the original story taking place in the 80s or whatever, he's got a super unique profile and he has to carry bigass tanks of compressed air with him all the time. I can't help but feel like he'd draw loads of attention.

Overwhelming majority of people will see it as a tool rather than a weapon, so people would notice it but won't think of him as a threat. Hiding in plain sight so to speak.

I more mean that Chigurh has a distinct lack of restraint. You can only bolt so many hicks before it becomes an obvious pattern, and Chigurh doesn't even have much concern for witnesses. It only takes so many coinflips before the police have a an established profile.
>Yeah, this scary as fuck 6'7" dude with a bowl cut and air canisters came in and said a bunch of cryptic shit before leaving
>also ol' miss Mally turned up dead a day later with a hole punched clean through her skull

Anton appears to be powerful, but only because he's cleverly using the resources at hand and is always ambushing his opponents. You can see how he actually struggled to kill Moss once the latter figured out that he was coming (and in the book, Moss literally tricks him and has him at gunpoint). The majority of people he targets are not some trained badasses, either; mostly civilians. He managed to kill the cop only because he was distracted.

Like, most TTRPG characters would be able to beat this guy in a straight fight, and he'd probably serve the role of a punishing encounter for players with no awareness skills.

Yeah, even my weakest character could turn him into a smudge.

>CPR
Yes, she's extremely well connected and got enough cybernetic enhancements to survive until cavalry comes.
>2020
No, they got dropped in the head by a much less fearsome enemy.
>CoC
No, he's just a human with some money.
>PF2e
Depends solely on the killer's level, lol.
>WoD
No, maybe she could run away.
>DH1e
He's not unkillable, but as a diviner, he'd have the upper hand.
>Tales of the Loop
Kids can't die, but also nobody believes them. My guy lives and defeats the killer, but the glory is stolen by the incompetent policemen.
