this would be relevant if they hadn't made a dnd-esque game clearly meant to enhance their own type of dnd-style gaming. the cope is real. on a positive note this might crash daggerheart and give the far more interesting game draw steel more of a chance to succeed.

I think it's rather hilarious that they literally made Theater Kids: The Game and yet they're not playing it for their flagship Theater Kids Campaign Show. Really speaks volumes about their faith in it.
That, or Hasbro paid them a boatload under the table to not drop D&D. Doesn't seem terribly likely, though

The inclusion of Aabria means at least a portion of the episodes will be utterly unwatchable. She's by far the most disingenuous "industry" push that this scene has had to suffer. If she wasn't a black woman, no one would give her the time of day

I imagine they only really knew about the success once they were a couple of episodes into Age of Umbra and by that point planning for S4 was already well underway.

>Lee Mulligan has split the cast into three groups: the Swords, the Seekers, and the Schemers. Each will apparently embody a different playstyle.
>Swords - traditional combat-focused adventures
>Seekers - more lore focused
>Schemers - social intrigue focused encounters.

from the video it seemed like
>Table 1: Matt, Marisha, Liam, Aabria, and Taliesin
>Table 2: Sam, Robbie, Whitney, Laura, and Travis
>Table 3: Ashley, Alex, Laura, Liam, and Robbie
Don't know which table Laura will feature at, seemed like she was at both, but Brennan said that the first few episodes will feature players rotating between tables before settling for now into one of the three.

Would he, though? He already played a cleric in VM post-Vax. I think Liam might go druid.
I think Taliesin might do something sneaky like rogue. He's more or less touched every basic archetype except that.
Travis will probably be a full spellcaster like a wizard or cleric.
Laura will probably do a martial melee class since she hasn't done that yet
I could see Marisha doing a heavy plate melee character. Don't worry, she'll still be gay
Ashley is retarded when it comes to game mechanics so she'll take 20 minutes to do one turn and still be as ineffectual as ever, regardless of what she plays
Sam is too much of a wild card to predict
The door is wide open for Matt to be anything since he doesn't have any potential overlap with past things
Anonymous No.96372652

I think Liam said before he wants to play the 4 classic D&D classes, and the only one he hasn't played as a main campaign character is a Cleric. Also he seems to be going through the classic races which just leaves Dwarf and Elf.

C1 was them throwing shit at the wall to see what stuck. In other words, they were playing genuine D&D (at least as close to genuine as CR ever got)
C2 was Matt pacing himself and trying to craft a cohesive narrative with longevity in mind. It got boring and safe. Not to mention they began to pander to the mentally ill portion of their audience harder
C3 was them "playing" a "campaign" with the inevitable animated series adaption in mind. It's literally just them storyboarding the show for the future. Like the big halfway point showdown of the Solstice was just them watching a bunch of NPCs from previous campaigns do cool shit. 100% scripted with no player input
Anonymous No.96375887 >>96376619

Nah, that's retroactive cope. They knew it would sell well, because their audience is made of loyal paypigs who bought the whole boxset for Daggerheart without once looking at previews, demos, or playtest material, and have done similar things for everything else CR has ever sold.

Furthermore, their show is the perfect place to advertise and promote Daggerheart, allowing them to put on the same sort of awful, overwrought theater kid bullshit they always do, while enjoying the added benefit of being able to directly, and constantly promote their product, which would only mean more money for them, even if the game was ass.

Which means the real answer is that everyone working for Critical Role is a buck broken, brain rotted, hopeless D&D loyalist who is too fucking addicted to the taste of Hasbro's cock to even pretend to enjoy a different system.

I 100% doubt that Sam's own vision for Nott/Veth had anything to do with trannies. But it's absolutely something that their mentally ill fanbase has claimed.
Reminds me of how just recently I was watching a 4-Sided Dive (I'm like 20 episodes away from end of C3) and it was after the Vasselheim meetings. One character, Highkeeper Vord or whatever his name is, was just an old guy in C1. But in the animated series, they made that character female. When that NPC appeared in C3, Matt seemed unsure which version to go with, so he didn't really specify in the moment. They brought it up on 4-Sided Dive, and as a result there were a few comments that were like "omg Vord is trans #transrights!" bullshit. They can't help but force their own mental illness into everything in front of them.

At some point during C2 I had this realization that there's this strange dynamic with Marisha and everyone else where they move aside and let her take center stage, likely because they're all relatively accomplished actors and Marisha's only accomplishment is fucking Matt Mercer around the time he started streaming D&D. Like some weird charity or make-a-wish thing for their less fortunate """actress""" friend.
Thanks for reading my blog I just got reminded of this seeing they cut all of Scanlan's clutch plays and good roleplay from the most recent season of the animated series so they could make it seem like Keyleth did literally anything during C1.

Matt fails to balance enemies and has a special NPC that is geared to solo an entire party but that NPC also has an NPC party of his own so he's nonsensically overpowered. Then the final boss fight is basically a scripted event and they still suck shit because they're awful at combat. Until they're saved by the deus ex machina of the power of friendship

She takes the most notes and knows Matt the best so people defer to her when it's time to make a decision for the story
She is melodramatic as an actress and seems to say a lot of cringe things that would be edited in a different format, sometimes with important NPCs she starts long and winding sentences in very formal language but then the sentences don't go anywhere and fall flat and it's awkward.
She is also the CEO of CR if I remember correctly so I guess she's everyone's boss? Idk if that affects their dynamic but maybe it does subconsciously as she'll be the one making decisions outside of the game.
I don't mind her though, I think she's fine really.

>Mordenkainen's Mansion is a magic item
