Who is the goku of Aos
Did this in about an hour. I didn't care at all about how it came out because it was meant to be purely a test model for future skeleton paint schemes. Didn't even bother to properly clean it when building and I really didn't even finish painting it because I was really only concerned with the bone and bronze.. I didn't learn a whole lot about a scheme I want, but I did learn some important things.
>Going into painting with the mindset of not caring about the outcome will make it come out like shit
>Painting a model you don't like or have any passion for will make you care less and make it worse
>Even going in with the express purpose of testing a scheme doesn't work well if you don't like the model you're painting
So with that now in my mind, how do you develop a paint scheme without "wasting" a model you actually like? I've experimented with models in the past, but at that point every one of them pretty much came out different and it only really worked because they were skinks. Obviously I could give the model an iso bath, but I'd hate to do that to something I put actual time and effort into even if it's not a paint scheme I want to follow through with.

Fucking might be. I can only get good results on a model with many hours. I don't consider myself a particularly good painter based solely on the fact that what takes me 15+ hours could be done in 1 or 2 by people I follow on Youtube.

Also you never waste a model, if you really hate what you've got you can strip it really easily. I say give it some time to sit and pick it back up in a couple days and see if you still dislike it. That's how I've rolled with things at least.

As GW? I wouldn't, not enough design space left for disciplined bone legions led by assorted sorcerer-priests next to OBR.
As a player? Old World minis, OBR rules.
And just purely fluff-wise I guess it'd be a rebelling death faction. Even with GW's general push for Nagash as the grand death overlord I'd say that'd be the least out of place, and as already noted we arenโt doing this from GW's perspective anyway.

>Why would a homogenous culture not emerge?
Because they're different races with different histories and different cultures that simply happen to be neighbours out of necessity, and even then, most often they're not even neighbours, azyr is a huge realm, taking refuge in it doesn't mean sharing getting shoved in the same favelas.
They experience different things and the same things differently, they value different things and the same things differently.
We have never seen them under a homogeneous culture, nor they were ever described as such, and no elf fan wants elves cosplaying as humans.

40kek got their black library special mini leaked (spoiler: another marine captain), last year they did one for both systems, so we could be seeing another bl character come to the game. Any ideas who ? I think it'll be picrel or the black vampire, they love vampire characters.

>are humans so lowly if?
yes, an elf doesn't suddenly have a better opinion of a normal human or his aesthetic sense or his hygiene or the quality of his weapons and gear just because sigmar, a god, is benevolent towards all the people of order
>and they all do live together
they live in either different cities or different quarters, they're not neighbours of the same mud favelas
>some Aelves would be fond of the showy landsknect fashion because they're not a monolith
that's enough to justify a conversion, not a kit to represent all city elfs as human cosplayers, which goes against the idea they aren't monolithic
>their status as Aelf and not-Human has always been irrelevant
it's not irrelevant, they're different species and different cultures, that never changed, they're just allies and securing the same city states in the realms

gods don't really die in a conventional sense, they can be brought back up by direct worship and indirect servitude
having an active cult of khaine is slowly sending energy to khaine, enough to eventually bring him back if it wasn't for morathi literally keeping his heart to herself and stealing the energy for herself
similarly attached to the cult of khaine are a number of other divine cults, for the most part they're not enough to revitalise their deities, especially since morathi has been outlawing their worship more and more as she gained power and prevalence, but morai heg managed to get a way out

It's weird because idoneth seem to like mathlann yet he stays dead, only echoes of him made up of dead idoneth souls can materialize into eidolons. There's also the fyreslayers having to specifically collect the essence of grimnir to revive him. I think godhood in aos is a bit of a vague concept but I'm also not that knowledgeable on the subject so i might be wrong.

We don't even need models, not that they'd get made, either. Let's be real a micro-subfaction of a non-posterboy faction wouldn't get models. Just art would do. Would definitely inspire people to convert their own.

Do they do it to revive him anymore? I got the impression that Fyreslayers get high off of using Ur-Gold and become dependent on it overtime in order to even function, despite it being an important component in boosting their strength and durability to the point of not even needing actual armor.

idoneth are not that numerous*, and while their society pays a lot of homage and respect to mathlann, it's not an extreme and hyperfocused cult like the khainites, with extensive sacrifices, they stick to themselves and their souls are kept in the coral-infinity circuits instead of following the normal path of souls on death, a lot of gods get empowered by the thoughts of the dead too
but I think the plot point of one idoneth novel WAS that mathlann is somehow starting to remanifest, but I doubt gw is following that narrative, they have the eidolons already and the new incarnate kinda required the destruction of the repositories of dead idoneth souls
*the numerous idoneth are the half soulled ones who likely can't really contribute much to the metaphysical dynamics that empower gods

There's a bit of a difference between what would be considered true gods like Khaine, Mathlann, Morr, etc. and the Ancestor Gods. The Ancestors were at one point mortal Dwarfs that were exceptionally powerful and venerated via ancestor worship than sort of ascended to godhood. I'm unclear on whether they became truly divine like Sigmar did, but they can probably be killed more easily than human and elf gods.

Anyone else find the Barrow Knights to be boring? They don't strike me anywhere near as much as any of the other skeleton models do. They just seem so static. They almost look out of place compared to the Wight King on horse. I wasn't really a huge fan of the old Black Knights either, but even they have more life in their poses. Aesthetically they look better, but it doesn't seem like a huge upgrade to me. The Blood Knights are great though. Big upgrade over the old resin ones. I'd 100% choose them over the Barrow Knights purely on looks.

Got more lore about the Great Horned Rat from this month's WD.
The Great Horned Rat has an antiethical entity similar to the other Chaos Gods. His nemesis is Hashut, since the opposing force to ruin and corruption is black hearted tyranny.
This implies that Hashut is next to become a major power in the Chaos Pantheon.
Hashut's Duardin followers call him the First King. Apparently, the Ancestor Gods tried to hide his existence from their people. They say that Hashut stole fire from the Chaos Gods.

Gods are warp entities, great storms in the general turbulence of the immaterium that manage to keep some manner of coherency and identity. If they suffer enough damage or starvation they can start to dissolve, loosing awareness and consciousness, or break apart. But while Khaine, Mathlann and Grugni are in a really bad shape nowadays they're not completely gone, so they can still be fed (potentially restoring them in the future) and tapped into.

Nagash, Sigmar, Tyrion, Teclis, Morathi, Malekith, Alarielle. All mortals originally.
Now whether or not the ancestor god's spirits remain in the warp is another question, but if there's some trace left it could be worshipped into a full god, and if not the worship could create a new god that people simply believe is the old ancestor.

Helsmith box will likely be in stores by mid-late september.
Army looks like it wants to deathstar up, there's some token tracking involved with its main mechanic, it ramps up in power with the more terrain pieces you control.
It's still a 4e type book, 4 formations, 3 artifacts/traits, on a 3+, poop d3 mortals, etc. There are some meh warscrolls (with things like altering OC) but more than enough there to make a few different lists. Feels like some level of power creep going on but hard to say without points.

slaanesh was born when gw decided to sell off-brand d&d miniatures, specifically the keeper of secrets was a ripoff of the glabrezu, the glabrezu had claws so the keeper also had claws, and so had claws its lesser demons
similar deal with the lord of change and the vrok, but for the lesser demons they made funny little things because people liked sculpting funny little squiggly faces
in setting it's not rationalised

They won't do summons across the entire game as a design stance this edition, and for whatever reason they won't put the healing as a faction trait ever while other death factions get it. The newest subfaction that's complete ass is the closest they've gotten to it.
The harvester sucks and will always suck because of the type of model it is (mid size support monster that wants to get into combat) and gw vastly overcosts healing when it comes to points, it's rare that the healing is so much better than just taking another unit. Even when the harvester was good in 2e it was sniped constantly.
Being that the current design team has half a brain and keep upping damage in the game, they should just drop the healing entirely, as well as ethereal for morteks because they way overvalue that shit and try again with their scrolls.

He learned than from The Worlde where Empire went on the defensive and it was just a stalling game. So, unfuck the realms and yeet Chaos and put the other factions in line and you can then have at least conversations until DoK, Malerion, LRL, Seraphon all decide to kill you because of reasons.

Others believe that the purpose of their war is retribution, as Vandus came to believe later on. Some are like Gardus Steelsoul and believe that no one is truly beyond redemption and therefore everyone is worth fighting for. I'm waiting for GW to grow the balls to retcon the entirety of the End Times and just have the end of the world happen at some nebulous time in the future. Nothing about AOS actually requires anyone who's in any danger of dying from old age to survive so it could happen centuries after the reign of Franz. It just needs Archaos to be the one to end it all and for the gods and mortarchs to still be around to make it into AOS.
Then both settings can essentially exist independently of each other. Hell, Storm of Chaos can be canon again at that point.

I doubt they'll do it, I think in general having all this end times shit exist in canon and be cemented into history as one of GW's big fuckups means they can't really retcon it.
Maybe at some point in the past I would have wanted that too, but after having hopped into AOS I'm enjoying things quite a bit. It's not perfect, GW could still stand to actually give it some love and care but for what exists now I'm fine with this being the successor to fantasy.

So if I'm understanding things right in this proposition the end of the world still happens, it just doesn't happen in 25xx-whatever the fuck the end times as we know it are?
That's interesting I guess, usually people suggest split time lines. Some stuff still needs to happen in a kind of specific way though, morathi and the elves getting consumed by slaanesh, tyrion and teclis and the other would-be-gods in aos beginning their ascension, shit like that.
I do think that if tow continues to truck on and they reach the conclusion of the current narrative (great war of chaos) they might address the end times question. I think they'll go the alternate timelines route if it ever comes to that though.

>Nothing about AOS actually requires anyone who's in any danger of dying from old age to survive so it could happen centuries after the reign of Franz.
When you think about it, most of the setup for the mortal realms could actually be reconnected back to a different time
>the creation of the realms happens in a parallel dimension between the real world and the chaos realm with the magical explosion of the great catastrophe instead of the one in the end times, and various races accidentally reach there and start as primitives
>sigmar reaches the mortal realms when he leaves the empire after his reign, he helps humans there and eventually starts making storm warriors to fight chaos
>the dwarfen ancestor gods reach the realms at some point during or after the cataclysm
>alarielle is actually just ariel and kurnoth is orion, and they walk back and forth from athel loren and the realms
>malerion is the near-literal shadow of malekith that detaches and is born in ulgu when malekith is burned in the flames of asuryan since he gets rejected/fails to burn himself completely
>morathi finds the realms via her demonic deals, snake-morathi splits from her as a result of making deals with slaanesh once (gave up a piece of herself, and then that piece escaped from slaanesh's gullet)
>the proto-fyreslayers arrive to the realms when dwarfs who followed grimnir in his quest to close the gate enter that gate together with him to seal it from there
>the kharadrons formed at the same time as the chaos dwarfs, roughly in the same location, but instead of digging deep and finding chaos, they found the realms and took flight with the resource there
>the idoneth were born during the sundering when much of ulthuan sunk, mathlann saved them, in exchange of a price that still weighs on them
>lumies were colonists that went east and then found the realms and remained there instead of going home with the sundering
>nagash found the realms when he last brooded in nagashizzar

When you look at the events of the End Times, very little of it actually has to happen as it does in that god awful storyline. Technically none of the events actually have to happen as described in the series. The only real necessities for AOS to then spring from the end of the world are the survival of relevant characters, literally all of whom are immortal one way or another. Most of them are elves, then there's Kroak (already dead until he wants to be alive again), Sigmar (man ascended to godhood), Nagash (unkillable lich), and Archaon (Everchosen and won't die unless the Four will it). Literally none of the events matter as long as these characters are around when the end happens and Archaon is the one responsible. It could all happen in 1000 years and AOS would spring forth exactly as it is now.
>>96383531
Exactly. The only thing the creation of the Mortal Realms requires is the destruction of the World that Was and the survival of a few characters, none of whom will ever die of old age.

AoS would be better if it wasnt connected to WHF at all. In a perfect world for AoS, GW has a schism, separating into one company that does 40k and Old World, and the other that inherits AoS, changes some names around, and keeps it separate from the rest of Warhammer

once you keep the realms and old world conveniently distant and difficult to cross over, both settings can perfectly exist in parallel and even enhance one another since you can have parallel wars against chaos or some other force that ends up helping the other side
the only problem, you'll notice, is that I haven't mentioned tyrion and teclis, and frankly I find it hard to make them fit as seamlessly as the rest does without invoking big asspulls

I mean how much are we retconning of the end times, like just the whole thing? I really don't know what you'd do with Fantasy then since other than Storm of Chaos or End Times it's all just business as usual. The plot didn't really "advance" too much which is fine but still at that point you're basically just getting fantasy back to status quo and it still exists.
I like fantasy and all but I don't know what we'd feasibly gain by just having it continue where it left off. If it continued like halfway through the end times and just had a bunch of shit broken and characters dead it would effectively be a whole new thing and people wouldn't be happy with that either. I guess nerds will never be happy no matter what GW does but I'm just stumped as to what way would be the best to go about a hypothetical refresh of Fantasy.

Malekith, Nagash, Sigmar, Ariel/Alarielle Eltharion, Tyrion, Teclis, Archaon, assorted rats, and probably a few more that I'm missing at the moment were all born in the old world long after the polar gateways collapsed. Probably Morathi too. So you'd have to completely re-write all their AoS backstories if the worlds are to have split during the collapse.
On the other hand, this re-write of the history achieves... nothing whatsoever. Neither AoS nor WHFB/tOW has any need to co-exist in parallel with the other, and while the end times is an old scab GW isn't picking at it nor does either game give them any reason too.

While it is definetly connected to Warhammer, with Warhammer orks, and warhammer dwarfs, the entire point is that its pretty much universal fantasy factions everyone knows, but instead of being in a fantasy war they are playing football.
Even BB goblins are closer to Warcraft goblins than Warhammer.

40k since 8th edition, and AoS since its inception, exist as a living narrative games, with a "now" where all the campaigns and stuff happen, which wasnt the case before, GW clearly likes this model, and wants to run Old World the same way, and the easiest way to do so is set it in a less explored timeline

Yes, and they reached the realms or awoke in the realms relatively long after they formed, just like how here they would reach the realms after some time of their creation.
It achieves that aos as a setting doesn't require to be built on the grave of another setting, and for my personal games, it achieves the possibility of isolated crossovers where otherwise aos-only factions have minor appearances in the old world.
I'm not even saying it's what should absolutely happen, just that it's a surprisingly easy thing to disentangle aos from the death of the old world, consider it a thought experiment.

It's a hard sell because I don't know what we'd really gain that hadn't already be done in Fantasy as is. We get some extra stories that could be set anytime anyways, because the timeline on fantasy is pretty indistinct at the best of times. The most I can imagine we'd get is like, some new Gotrek and Felix since Felix didn't die anymore. (Which fucks up Realmslayer) And some of the more popular characters getting a new fancy model made up.
I don't particularly care for the end times, I think it was a stupid fucking idea. But I feel like just hopping back to WHF and pretending we didn't have a decade of a new thing and intensely detailed multimedia stuff about how the old world blew up feels a bit silly. I can see why people would want it back but I can't really see GW doing anything meaningful that they aren't already doing with "The Old World"

People aren't saying it's literally a new universe anon, they are saying that it's effectively a rebranding/reboot. Because it is.
If Hasbro decides to dust off an old IP like GI Joe and hand it to all new creative team after a decade of absence to make a new cartoon, even if that team is super dedicated to the old version, minus tweaking and retconning things to fit their needs, obviously, it's still EFFECTIVELY a new thing, simply because the only real connection the old and new versions have is IP ownership. Especially when going forward all the new toys and supplemental material and marketing will be designed entirely around the new thing exclusively.

Literally speaking, WHF is it's own thing and TOW is just set in a different period, etc etc. Effectively though, it replaces WHF entirely going forward, not only as a setting but as an IP. WHF is a relic that will soon exist purely as a(n) (unlicensable) historical curiosity while all new things WHF will be TOW branded. TOW will be the new canon, the new everything.

-Mortal wound specific wards/-1 damage/reroll saves/half damage style effects
-Capping effective rend at -1
-Changing generic command abilities to have more restrictions (only certain unit types, capping max charge/power through movement range, etc)
-Changing combat ranges to be based on base to base, maybe exclusively for infantry
-Only the pile in target and units that started in combat with a unit are targetable by their attacks

NH got fucked because their rules writer is incompetent. There's no grand scheme to reduce damage, can see it in action with the sog updates having power creep in many cases and more and more ward busting showing up with new tomes.

Yeah the only thing of real importance for aos canon is the stuff with the elves I think. Come to think of it, is the whole incarnate of winds of magic thing the reason certain characters got reincarnated as gods in aos?

you keep crying about sog but there's a 2 models from it out of 24 armies that are "too good" and both them were added to help trash factions and will inevitably get nerfed in the next update. Show me the sog power creep on the corpse cart or fucking slaangor.

coach, pontifex/cos, rottigus, eltharion, fec, ko, dok got straight upgrades to the units and it's pretty much all increased damage
the argument isn't about one faction being better than others or if they deserve it, it's that the game is only getting more lethal you dumb cunt.

Unironically make it just a little more complicated. It's had the fun "streamlined" out of it. Shitty stuff still needs to have the potential to have a "moment" even if it is shitty, because getting it to have that moment is fun even if there is a mathematically superior option.

Weird, i was convinced that greasus had one of the "mustache rules" which allowed you and the opponent to make a deal on literally anything, and get a bonus if they break it? Is it a mandildo effect or am i retarded and posted the wrong scroll?

If I recall correctly most of the joke rules were on stuff that wasn't really part of aos proper, like greasus, kurt helborg, bret and tomb king stuff. I don't know if legends was a thing back then but I'm 90% sure most if those were on "not entirely setting appropriate" warscrolls, for lack of a better word.
Anyway do you have a link to the early 1e warscrolls? Would like to go through them.
