they dumbed down the table top rules and widened the customer base with an xbox game. The hobby is worse but GW is seeing an increase in profit. The only thing we can do to change it is to make terrain ourselves and stop allowing this shit to happen at the LGS

When you play 40k in a GW shop or tournament, you are agreeing to act as a free advertisment for their products to other potential customers. Smaller tables means GW can get more 'product displaying games' into their shops in the hope of boosting sales. Clueless idiots have accepted this as the only way to play.

Another factor is that after blowing all their spare cash on a couple of expensive toy soldiers, many have nothing left for good terrain. Since GW started to sell their own official terrain, GW drones are reluctant to use non-GW terrain (homemade or 3rd party), as they have been mindwashed into thinking you can only use GW products in GW games. It's pretty sad.

Your shitposting because you're afraid of being honest with people in a post-post-ironic culture but the fact of the matter is someone making due with the minimal they can is respectable.
This guy's gaming even through he has a flat that's about as big as your average bedroom in the States, and no good access to LFGS to by plastic crack. His guys are all imports, which cost even more, and yet he's still playing. More than a lot of shitheads on here can say as their 'high effort' tables sit gathering dust and WIPs line their shelves forever.

>he's playing
It's very weird that 40k fans have put "playing" as some noble pursuit on a pedestal and treat is with such reverence. They often forget that this hobby is multifaceted and has three major tenets: building/crafting, painting, and playing.
Simply "playing" means absolutely nothing when you completely neglect one or both of the other aspects of the hobby. You can play every single day and you're still a hobbylet if you're not fully painting your armies, building immersive terrain or converting your doods, etc.
Modern Warhammer fans fail to grasp the concept that quality is vastly superior to quantity, and it's simply better to play once a quarter with an amazing looking army, table, scenario, opponent, etc. that to play endless pickup games with grey tide on ugly ass tables with the random smelly freaks at your LGS

It’s very simple: GW realized that tournament players are the most profitable whales they could’ve hoped for.

Think about it, a narrative player will slowly grow their army over years. A casual player might not even reach a 2000 point force, preferring the more comfy (and more tactically interedting) smaller games. But the tournament player? If GW said that the standard game was now 4000 points the competitive player wouldn’t think twice about doubling their army. These people will buy a new army every 3 months, once the meta shifts they sell them on eBay or just throw them away. They buy like there’s no tomorrow.

Compounded is the death of warmachine and the loss of MTG’s identity. Both hyper-competitive retard player bases found refuge in 40K. This was by design. The game is no longer a wargame, but a β€œT-sport”. Instead of recreating epic battles or simulating combat in the 41st millennium, now you compete over standing on an arbitrary grid of circles on an arbitrary grid of ruins. They turned the game into Dawn of War 3

They're all kitbashed from a bunch of kits. Oathmark, frostgrave, warhammer fantasy, perry, etc, and have greenstuff work. For the terrain the rubble/stone brick stuff is by Fogou Miniatures and the wooden stuff is entirely scratchbuilt.

The maker use to visit /wfg/ and was called Slaanon because of his 6e Slaanesh army, but doesn't visit there anymore I think. Goes by Art_of_Duane on insta: https://www.instagram.com/art_of_duane/

The core issue is 8th edition changing line of sight from "per model" to "per unit" to try and shut down rhino sniping characters. In earlier editions you could hide half your unit in a small building and and the opponent could only shoot the other half. Now if a toe peeks out, all ten guys are fully visible.
