We need marked Gors back. Tzaangors and Slaangors already have models, just give them rules and spin up a line for the other two.
Itโ€™s mildly โ€œanti-fluffโ€ since beastmen are typically shown to worship the dark gods as a single thing and have no greater ambition than to tear the world down but there are some instances of them getting individual gods blessings (Taurox) so I think itโ€™s fine as long as they arenโ€™t core units and have the โ€œhatred for (insert god here)โ€ rule that prevents you from using all four kinds

Even Taurox seems less like worship by him and more being marked and more like Khorne looked at the kinda shit he was doing and said "here's a perk my special boy." If you take beastmen being the redheaded stepchildren of Chaos I'd keep anything resembling marks to almost character specific stuff like your dude did enough raping for Slaanesh to take note or killing for Khorne to take note, or rolled in enough shit for Nurgle to take note or was intelligent enough for Tzneetch to take note. If you treat them more like normal chaos worshipers just with hair and horns though yeah I'd say make gors for each god or just give select units marks (gors, bestigors, centigors, and minotaurs)

We mock fantasy scales proportions but heroic scale looks good on a table top. There's a reason the Greeks sculpted real proportions only for a small time: reality is underwhelming.

But considering that you can literally point at the models and explain step buy step why the Empire and Dwarves war machines are more technologically advanced that the Cathayans, they can't really take the "we have a better manufacturing process" route with Cathay.

I know Cathay doesn't have enough units to really theme an army, but this is pathetic. It's just Cathay with some Empire units as mercenaries.
There's no real indication that it's a naval force. Why do they have giant stone statues on the ships? This probably would've worked better as an Empire force with some Cathay units mixed in, like for troops, artillery, and flyers.

My problem with an โ€œimperial armyโ€ is thereโ€™s always gonna be one big regiment of models outnumbering everyone else and to me it wouldnโ€™t make much sense to have that regiment made up of different provinces. But honestly I HAVE considered a multi provincial army (mostly the southern provinces, from Solland to Stirland). Maybe I could just have multiple large regiments and just rotate which I use each game? Sounds tedious but would be kino as hell I think

You could always go that the Solland part of your army is merely to main army under the Count on a griffon, the other regiments being placed under his command to round up his army.
Nuln canons and crews would be better than a Solland one for example, simply based on reputation, Stirland archers over Averland ones...

Cathay instead is being presented as having some very active, overt and fundamental roles in a relatively recent and important period of the empire's history.

Pretty sure it's noted in a few places the beastmen don't worship the dark gods. Worship swings a bit to close to being civilized for them. They're just created from and owned by chaos. The gods do bless them from time to time for being good at what they do, but the races don't go around looking to please the gods. Hell, beastmen don't even worship the brayshamans, they just recognize their value and relative wisdom and give them respect. The closest to being worshipped was murghur.
The marked gors are the ones who actually choose to worship a god, and they're rare and strange.

>>Thread Question:
>What's a controversial unit or equipment you wish your faction had?
lizardmen "demon princes"
but I don't mean actual demons, I'll explain:
ever since the dread saurian was a thing, I've seen this proxy for it, I didn't like it, it's not a big dinosaur, not even a sort of aztec godzilla, it's just a giant lizardman, it's weird, it didn't fit the description, it didn't fit any description lizardmen had for anything, and later I started seeing more and more examples of third party sculptors making various giant lizardmen, often making them, say, humanoid triceratops, or humanoid pterosaurs, or humanoid trex, etc, you get the idea, many had aztec garbs and were quite beautifully detailed minis, but I never liked them, both as big things and as normal sized sauri and kroxigors proxies.

but then why didn't lizardmen have a strain of "giants", like it has little dudes, medium sized dudes and monstrous infantry sized dudes? or strains of triceratops-men or sauropod-men or pterosaur-men etc? in-setting there's no answer, despite there being theoretically a LOT of spawnings of various kinds of lizardmen that look very differently.
meta-wise there are many answers, such as that it's better for the army to have big dinosaurs instead of big dinosaurmen, or that it would start overshadowing the saurus general heroes, or that when you start mixing the look of the dinos and the look of the lizardmen you start muddling the waters over whether the dinos are dinos or just less humanoid lizardmen spawning, aside from the fact that including too many looks for the skinks, sauri and kroxigors is unfeasible for what's an already relatively niche range for the priorities of the setting, and less iconic, for a company that certainly value recognisability.

for the longest time I simply disregarded these third party lizardmen, but then one day something clicked, why not have a very circumstantial and exceptional type of lizardmen that could be so much larger and so much closer to the looks of some dinosaurs, it wouldn't overshadow or muddle much if they were extremely rare, they don't break the lore because the lore already contains theoretically sacred spawning of lizardmen with very different looks, chameleons are an example, and I ended up thinking about the kind of world building that would justify and contextualise them better, and this was what I ended up with

>similarly to how the lizardmen maintain temples that house ancient and enormous creatures of the jungle, venerating them as sacred, they have other temples that house these gigantic lizardmen, revering them as sort of demigods, who often remain lethargic, but can be rouse in times of great need
>they're not the result of random sacred spawnings that happen occasionally, instead each and every one of them is as old, if not older, than the first lizardmen, because they are all various "prototypes" the old ones made in their process of experimenting and splicing the creatures of the primordial jungles, the process that would eventually create the finalised lizardmen races
>in a sense, they're the ancient uncles of the sarus, skinks and kroxigors, as close to them as they're to the actual monsters that inhabit the equatorial jungles, and they can be very different from one another

and this is what I mean by lizardmen demon princes: very rare, very powerful, very big and very customisable ancient monstrous lizardmen living demigods

at face value, yuan bo recognises that if chaos isn't dealt with in the west, then their northern wall is pointless, because the forces of chaos might attack cathay from multiple angles, or with too much momentum, so miao ying must deal with that, because she's the appointed 'wall against chaos'

reading in-between the lines, miao ying was the one who was sent to connect cathay with the empire at the time of sigmar, and we don't really have other mentions of other dragons going to the empire, so potentially she might be the dragon appointed to keep that relation up and functional with the old world

yuan bo sending her west to get rid of her in an attempt to wrestle more control, especially with the emperor and empress absent would be the most interesting take, but we have nothing to support that

Nah, the faction wouldn't revolve around them at all anymore than the faction already revolves around dread saurians, as in, in no way at all. I wasn't thinking about them as centralising and active agents like the primarchs/dragon children are, on the contrary, as passive background elements until they're summoned in extreme circumstances.

If anything I hate how fundamental to everything the dragon children have been made for cathay, I'm of the opinion things should have been way more diluted there.

TQ: For Vampire Counts, Bloodlines and some ghould king hero. I also think different army compositions could be useful for vampires

>Strigoi Ghoul Kingdom
No regular vampires including blood knights, more ghouls and abominable vampires like varghulfs and vargeists, must include a strigoi ghoul king
>Sylvanian Army
State troops but limited to no access to ghouls and crypt horrors, general has to be a vampire count
>Order of the Blood Dragon
Blood Knights as special, counts and thralls can take plate armour, no master necromancers or crypt horrors
>Lahmian Sisterhood
Honestly I have no fucking clue but wanted all of the bloodlines to be represented maybe can take Brets, Imperials, or Cathay as Mercs to represent manipulating other countries and no strigoi because they're like super ugly and could still be butthurt from when Ushoran's empire was destroyed.

I don't. The main idea behind this structure was that some scenarios from the generals compendium (6th) need three buildings minimum. And I wanted something different from my older builds from 2023 (see pic related for a reference, I have one more like that). Yeah daemons never really worked for me. The army seems very segregated and is more and more falling into the very specific silos of the gods rather than the full weirdness of what chaos can be.

A few things that I think would improve daemons of chaos as an army:
>Have a few generic "lesser daemon" units which you can customise with upgrades and mark them how you like
>Allow daemons and daemon princes to have the mark of chaos undivided, to represent allegiance to minor gods like Hashut, or just unaligned ones
>Add in some unaligned daemon units other than just the furies. The HH novels have some interesting ones
>Add a mechanic to represent the bargains and pacts in the great game. For example, say slaneesh is willing to lend Tzeentch some daemonettes while their goals align, or a Khorne champion is using something Nurgle wants as a bargaining chip. The idea is that the armies don't have to be mono-god, but there's a price to bringing others' units

I think they should be mixed with WAC with conditions like you need a character of the appropriate mark to take said daemons (I can't see an all nurgle army summoning some daemons of Slaanesh). If we were to retcon everything however I think Ruinstorm style daemons could be interesting enough to represent a stand alone army. However I think the lore has currently enshrined Chaos daemons as fairly standardized in form by God. Granted you could probably still increase types Slaanesh gets tiny Nurgling style imps for example.

Any soldier withput shoes is gonna be out of action pretty quickly due to injuries or some sort of fungal infection or frostbite depending on the conditions. Anonymous No.96395501

And if his shoes get broken than he'll fix them as quickly as he can in the most ad hoc methods required (get a string and tie the soles to the tops, wrap them in bandages to hold them together). If the shoes are beyond repair and he can't get new ones the soldier is a casualty walking. Imagine marching 10-20 miles in a day on dirt or gravel road barefoot or imagine walking, jogging, and even running barefoot through fields and forests for hours with no specific periods to stop marching.

Now is this worth reeing about? Nah, but it's unrealistic and since mudcore tries to appeal to a gritty realism I think it takes the grittiness too far and flies right by the realism. It's akin to having normal human mudcore soldiers with missing arms and legs flailing around with pikes and swords.

A reliable core is a block of rangers/quarrelers (1 kit does both), with an engineer and an organ gun on a hill. This gives you range agains inf and heavy inf/cav.
>If you play static, and don't have to capture, you can add another engineer/Burlok and another organ and/or catapult.
>if you want to move, add a dozen thunderers with the expeditionary marksmen upgrade, great weapons, Burlok and a Bugman's cart for +1 movement.
Get a couple of melee infantry blocks. Great weapons are your friend: you are already tanky, but you need to be killy as well.
Warriors are good, but longbeards are better.
Hammerers with a lord are a deathstar, but you need to force the enemy to charge you (use artillery).

The other units are more situational.

Cavalry needs to be shot (organ gun preferred). I usually just manoeuvre infantry to face them and tank the charge. 7-models wide front (or more for shoots units), 2 ranks and great weapons will resolve in a draw. And the following rounds you have the advantage.

Sounds good. I was thinking potentially combined arms but I am a fan of, ironically, the humble Dwarf Warrior. Are they viable?

I am looking at a potential dirt cheap 500 point army to start wuth 10 Thunderers, Warriors and Ironbreakers.

If I like, I will expand with artillery, organ gun going by what you said, and maybe gyros. Does that sound ok?

Dwarf warriors are really good. Longbeards is what pretty much everybody brings. Thunderers arent that great unless in xforce and buffed furthrer by burlok. Ironbreakers arent very good in 1.5 as they are very overpriced

Lizardmen as a faction are lizards that ride dinosaurs, there's no need to actually make them into dinos. You have cool characters like Tetto'eko, Lord Kroak, and Kroq-Gar that are cool because of the exceptional stuff that they do, not because they're the biggest lizard to ever be. They already have Kroxigors, we don't need to start powercreeping lizardmen by making them bigger, you can just change up what kind of mounts they ride and that works just fine.

Pretty much what >>96397224 said.
Dwarf warriors are good, and the options and addition of characters makes them great.
>I used the same plastic kit for both longboards and warriors, so I can claim they are whatever.
>no I'm not getting the new plastic ones, I want the metal models back.
Thunderers good in xforce. Otherwise get quarrellers/rangers, with longer threat range. And rangers with scout are good for objectives grabs in any composition.

I love Ironbreakers, but at the moment they literally only work as a wall. Costly, hard to move, won't kill much. You need movement synergies (anvil, Bugman's cart, runes) to become a real hinderance in the face of the enemy.

We've been discovering TTRPG with some friends playing WFRP 4th edition. They don't know Warhammer but we've been having a blast so far once I gave them a quick briefing.

A few issues though: We're on holidays and I'll need to move away again and we live far apart. What software (ideally free) would you recommend since I GM? I assume discord for the call and some additional software for the rolls, character sheets and all?

Additionally, we're only 3, 2 players and myself, the DM. I play a character too, so that they're not all by themselves. However, obviously being the DM my character's input is limited, more of a follower. I've been following pre-written adventures so far but is there any way where we could have an adventure where things are truly random and I could participate almost as much as the other players, without spoiling myself?

Dwarf warriors are very viable. If it were not for the fact you can cheaply upgrade them into longbeards which are even better, they could be in competition for the best non-elite infatry in the game.

I just used big uns, boyz and boars. I get they were not suoer elites but even when I rammed into the enemy unit, I didn't do as much.

For context, if my chaos knights rammed something, 90% of the time, it's losing chunks of bodies. Granted the biar boyz 5 vs 9 knocked the cathay lancers to 4 before breaking but still.

Since yoy love knights you might love their playstyle which is totally opposite of knights. Beware there ar many shit ass wood elf units tho and some arguably OP propping up the faction
>pros
Good shooting, good mobility. Their Heros tend to have good output. Treekin are great anvil. Good defensive magic, and some great magic items. Wild riders solid hammers. Access to a dragon.
>cons
Many shit units or units that are very limited. Waywatchers need an 85pt hero tax. Dyrads can't get full command and only can take a mage or branchwraith hero. Flammable shit. Eternal guard overcosted. Worst Heros (well just orion) with names. Poison nerf reduced our damage vs monsters significantly. And ofc we are squishy as all fuck and magic missiles artillery and even slings will hurt us.
>overall it's a very unique faction of which your mileage will vary based on your preference of gameplay and moreso your tolerance to be somewhat flexible on the table but very limited in what you are able to bring that'd not shit.

That's not shit. I.E going all in on pure trees or elves or using any of the AoI and generally if you don't bring some smart hero loadouts at a minium you're going to get fucking demolished by even casual lists. High skill floor and reasonably high skill ceiling albeit the top factions will fuck you up still.

Cathay rules for the Jade fleet are literally their first round draft of rules for a typical Cathay army (a buff to the melee infantry if they are close to the shooting infantry and a small buff to shooting range). It got changed into the winds of yin and yang shit because they were told they won't drop all the models at once (got to spread out the pay pig milking)

Whatโ€™s wrong with Demigryph knights? Ik theyโ€™re meant to be rare, the most I have is 6 including characters mounted on them in a White Wolf knightly order list, and models wise I only have 3 so far for my GA and Morr knightly order list (primed and basecoated them today, painting them tomorrow), I think thatโ€™s like a reasonable amount since the total would be 9 split across two different orders. Or is the problem that they look stupid? Or both
