According to Gygax, one of the main advantages of D&D was that you could even play as a young dragon, as long as you had permission from your DM.
And that's just the thing about D&D, whenever people sing its praises; it's all about things their DM let them do, things that the DM rewrote, their good DM let their good group do good things, therefore D&D is the world's greatest TTRPG.
But that's not how state of being and causality work. It's like if I cast a pencil in iron with a hammer mold, and started saying Dixon Ticonderoga makes the world's greatest hammers. No, they don't, they make pencils; everything about the hammer was stuff I had to add myself.
