Hubristic bullshit incoming. "Treated as" (in the description of Untimeskip and Dice Fudge) means that a character fills the associated slot. If I turn a parent, let's say Thallan, into a Mentor through Dice Fudge, we'll agree that means that he only fills a Mentor slot instead of a Father slot. However, Untimeskip also says that a Mentor targeted by it will be treated as a Companion, except they're already said to be "your Mentor", so do they fill a slot from both categories, or which one?
Can someone bug Tank for a definitive answer?

Will the Keter language trick be patched? I do not want to see tons of builds doing it or, worse, try to figure out what their build would actually be like if they did it because you just know. It's also pretty unfair to those that can't do it.

I've just realized it's possible to become Undead, pick View of Fore, and adventure and learn a long time, an entire lifetime, and then actually start your adventure. It just requires not entering dungeons, which admittedly could be a problem.

View of Fore essentially "respawns" you once you die. The point in time it resets you to is either the last time you fell asleep or the last time you entered a dungeon. So the idea was to never change the respawn point, which requires never sleeping or entering dungeons. Thus, whenever you do die, you return back to a point very early in time with a lot more experience than what a single day could get you. The problem is there isn't a way to not have to sleep that works with View of Fore. Undeath kills you which would use it up, and All-Glimpse can't be used with other eyes.

Kneeling Twilight x2 might count as not sleeping since you're fully conscious, but it says "the pose could be used instead of normal sleep". It's also pretty cheap.

Error, Vigilant strand instead of floating gait.

Main core of this build is ripping a bubble of spacetime from earth to act as a pseudo throne world. You use Daemonhost and inner sight to create copies of yourself with XI as the letter, waiting for the right expression to link to earth with. Every failed attempt has spirit tap used on it and assimilated the previous me, merging the forks. (Note, aat's original merging with a copy of himself didn't count for his death iirc). After that's done use necromancy to bind myself to the earth bubble and maybe pull the chunk/projection here. As you are bound to the bubble, not reality, you cannot die permanently outside of it. Your metaphorical death mark can be considered XI, though not literally so as you're undead.

Once you have the bubble you can use it to do a few things, Overlap, Dreamscape, Replacement, and Trirealm. Overlap is when you layer it on top of native spacetime and allows you to pour your own earthy (thus subjective) meaning into this reality, allowing for impossible magics of too many potential flavors to mention. Replacement is like lbsjbg in a bubble of pure actual earth physics. Dreamscape is when you summon the bubble in the dream realm and start shoving pandemonium into the area with it. Finally, Trirealm is when you both shove the Dreamworld into reality and deploy your earth bubble.

Core idea is to have as many options and impossible opportunities as possible. The plan is there is no plan,but a very impressive improv toolbox. My version of Autoantecedent Starsight helps with this since it helps me complete my own spells when I work on them, making it way easier to do things. Vigilant strand helps prevent me from being killed while within the bubble.

Dreamscape is the safest use of the bubble, since you're not actually in the bubble.

Overall, 0^0 narratively considers herself to be a form of order, thus, I represent chaos and whimsey. I cede plans and improvise miracles.

Mine might honestly still be a work in progress. Still not sure about Outer Tide and honestly, the talk of shopping lists makes me want to Toybox so I don't have to care. I usually prefer to work out the details after the build in discussion.

It's annoying when people complain about shopping lists off the bat. It takes a while to make background narrative stuff yaknow! I might add some as discussion is had. Honestly I don't like encounters, I much prefer controlling the initial setup and then exploring how things go from others rather than planning a roadtrip.

And if I don't take toy box, people will want a plan and narrative. The point of the build however is letting go of control and plans.

I should be able to add the fact that Gunter isn't going to be a rival, but a co-protagonist. I'm part of his party or will be after he and Dobrava are done offscreening Nilmatrix. (Confirmed strat by the author btw, just have Gunter with Dobrava.) I wanted to get the base build down and then work everything else out, I do not do well as a solo writer.

How does View of Fore work with Theta? Theta counts as your death technically, right? Would View of Fore immediately activate and become worthless?

If not, isn't View of Fore the objectively best gift to take with Theta, vastly surpassing even All-Glimpse in its specialty, God-Script mastery? Just have SRTR, another player, or maybe even yourself remove your need to sleep and you can become insanely op as you learn from SRTR for hundreds of years AND you experience the outside.

Aside from comboing with Theta, it's still very op if you start with powerful mage parents who can remove your need to sleep.

If Charlotte didn't hate me before they'd definitely hate me here as my children will be the prime example of those who didn't work for a single thing and get handed everything they could ever want. Except for being magically inclined I guess, nothing's stopping them from doing so though.

If every gift but lifespan modifiers counted for the purposes of Overfull Pupil's count, thats 32 extra lives to go through before you can finally kill one of my kids. That is assuming that eyes stored in Multiocular O count as otherwise it'd be more like 24, and that the eye was in use while they got killed.

This is the ultimate form of the Spider Tide. Every child of my children can potentially be like this, and even if they inherit half of it, their strength is still considerable and the potential to still have all of it remains when they birth the next generation. Endless spiders, endless gifts, endless potential.

I feel ya man. I'm dumb as rocks when it comes to piecing together the story that isn't explicitly shoved right in your face. I didn't realize for a an embarrassingly long time that Omega was Charlotte's daughter despite having obvious links and backstory which did everything but directly calling it out. I just thought "oh neat looks like there's someone who's pretty strong." Even the death slots I was just thinking "damn she really hates that chick. It must be because Omega is YMRD's favorite."

It's understandable, the Cyoa is very long and a lot of the connections will only become apparent after you re read it. One thing you will begin to notice is that if an unnamed person is mentioned in a bio, then you can be sure that they are at least related to someone else.
For example, I only noticed that Zlata parents were killed by Alezandre when I was making a build using them and noticed the weird coincidence in their descriptions. They are simple world building elements so you can safely ignore them for your build.

Eeeeey nice. Though I was planning on being more involved with Gunter's party as it's replacement 4th member after Nilmatrix is dead. The theme around my build I'd be ready to pull out bullshit but also go with the flow and be humble. Keter's problem was using everyone as tools and really taking that spotlight. She wanted to be a hero. I'm good with just getting the job done personally, I wanna retire and tinker with magic.

Second part of the build's theme is Earth, specifically the connection to it. I won't be pretending to be anything other than an outsider, and I'll use my earth name. Charlotte represents the worst of the idea of our home universe, so I want to show people the *actual* thing by bringing it forth. Do some moments of quite wonder by using overlap to turn the system from Writing to Painting for a bit maybe. Paint my spells into existence. Draw on earth occultism and philosophy a bit maybe.

First, I have never even said anything about fate or raw power before you brought it up. And since you speak of fate you're probably not the initial guy I was responding to since he's probably too dim to realize that the player fundamentally must exploit the system to survive their fated death.

Second, fate is nowhere near as POWERful (ok, I'll stop capitalizing) as you make it out to be. The entire cyoa is about exploiting fate and its loopholes. There are so many examples of fate being used for one's benefit even if it was supposed to be harmful. Fate also cannot make the impossible happen.

This is a bit of a murky area.
I've intended for Gunter's Companions to gain death slots, because he gains them through the Outsider System - and it's the thing which assigns deaths and ends to storylines by the virtue of being used.
Blazhko's Mentors are similar. I was asked this years ago, and I think I answered that you could treat it either way back then - you can give them deaths, or you can say they're free. However, by now I think it's more correct to have them assigned deaths as well. Of course, you can still rely on my earlier statement to cut Blazhko some slack. If I ever made such a statement, that is, as I don't remember...
Dirk Yesod's mentorship is more clear cut. You don't need to assign deaths here, because Dirk is not actually getting involved with people themselves, you're just having the System copy the teaching, like it does with gifts from parents.

Well this is more of a lore question. Have the denizens of the world developed methods and strategies of dealing against people with death slots? Outsiders have existed for a millenia so I would assume strategies to deal with pesky individuals who are constantly dodge death as it is not their designated one were devised.

If they are unable to make the destined death come into fruition I presume methods of incapacitation would work. Like imprisonment, magical bindings or I guess if they are more brutal outright mutilation or attempting to break their minds trough torture.

How the Outsider System functions is mostly a mystery to the vast majority of people. What most people know is that every 100 years an Outsider shows up with awesome boons and cool people involved in their fate, and that's it.
Some who are very learned or were directly told of it by an Outsider, would know. But they don't spread the knowledge, and they're not in the exact position to really do anything about. There might be some exceptions about acting on this knowledge here and there, but there are no defined anti-Outsider strategies.
Everyone has a death slot, apart from those excluded from it by being Undead, or Everlasting, and so on. But absolute majority of people simply have it empty, not filled with any letters, unless they're caught up in some specific fate which necessitates it.

In my formative years I will try to surpass my character flaws, beyond what I already did with my inborn gifts, and meditate with twilight kneeling to surpass my meandering thought. Can Autoantecendence be transferred to your children with Thoroughbreeding? It seems descriptions are conflicting. Thoroughbreeing implies that everywhing except it will be forced to be inherited, while Autoantecendence says that it can't be inherited "naturally". So does Thoroughbreeding counts as "unnatural"?

I was banking on Thaumiel and her artificial life project but she only takes females as students and I don't want to troon out just to satisfy her dyke fetish. I thought of teaching them the [Intelligence] and [Wisdom] Inborn Gifts with the help of Tentoya, but that plan has two major problems. First Inborn Gifts must explicit magical effects on order to be turned into a learnable discipline, which Intelligence and Wisdom aren't. Second, I don't think Uruks can even be thought anything, and also just becoming a little smarter and wiser isn't enough to make them truly "alive". So I'm stuck at square one. Any thoughts?

I'm just going to threaten to make superpowered regular spiders if I can't get myself cured, to the other Outsiders or just regular people. Yeah superpowered Aranea are a threat, but a flood of actual spiders which can heal as they skitter off at high speeds and can't be killed by fire is arguably worse. Is there anything that says you couldn't pull it off? Eh, even if its not, just gotta sell it and make others believe it.

In real talk though, been mulling over more changes. Not necessarily for this alternate version of my regular build. Been thinking about tweaking the Death Letter. Zelo would naturally be an incredible death for the level of power I'd have, but by raising the bar with so many inborn gifts, my original thought of it being delayed until I get cured so that I can fight in a way thats truly legendary doesn't seem like it'd pan out. Coughing up blood, having low stamina, and severe pains all sort of go down the drain when I have Second Wind, Last Breath, and Boiling Blood which makes all that sit in the background during battle. Sure I'll not be as good as I was without the Sickness but still probably better then most other people's endurance.

Izhe also seems like an insane pick because I can't even imagine what sort of disaster is enough to kill me. Floods, volcanos eruption, tornadoes, earthquakes, giant flaming super sharknadoes are all pretty manageable with an ability to walk on water, resist heat, immunity to fall damage with perfect balance at all times, and more. Even trying to starve us out with some mass drought/famine is nearly impossible, so whatever it is, it has to be a disaster on a grand scale. Only reason I haven't picked it just to tempt fate is that a disaster enough to kill me would also be enough to kill my kids in possibly one fell swoop which I wouldn't want.
